Tyre pressure is crucial for so many things and to see it in this video was gold! Driving either my Series 3 Swb or my Defender 110 Td5 or my D4 V8 on and off road my tyre pressure is paramount in any situation but more so when sand driving that’s where it really matters! Great video keep em coming!!
That was a spot on demonstration of the great advances in tyre technologies 👍 would also like to see more on the track attachments especially on the T5 size tractors 👍 great to see the gang back together 😉👌
brilliant film as always , great information and what a way to show the true difference of the right tyre pressures , hope you dont mind but have a look at why we use tracks , Norfolkfords on youtube and the tulip monster. keep up the great work , and of course more tracks please
I’ve used them T8s once before incredible machines massive step up they are 👍 but I’d like to see a comparison over any make. Say 8RX and case puma with Soucy tracks with same horse power be interesting to see (if any) which one is better
Nice video your Lordship! Fun to see all the different Michelin setups. We get quite a few tracked tractors and harvesters around this area because of the clay soil and sometimes pretty wet conditions. Look forward to the upcoming stuff and tracks for me this time. All the best!
Great video, lot of things to take in to account, load , pleasures, ground whether etc. All interesting stuff. Was good to see how the tracks worked. I'll say tracks out of interest.
Another good informative video. I know nothing about farming but would be interesting to see how the tracks perform in the real world with tight turns etc
Interesting vid👍tracks will always come out top but are expensive, so I would choose tyres with options of one tractor fitted with inflation air system vs another tractor with standard tyres. We know benefits with cropping but what about hay operation n to see time, fuel saving n advantages does both tractors bring to the business? I bet there would be surprising results👍
Continue with the tracks BECAUSE your demonstrating the new technology advantages to all the tyre users - who need new information. Be sure to test drive the tracks on the village roads, some highway, from farm to farm just like George does doing his work. Make tyre uses WANT Tracs as a result of your over the road demo. Discuss tyre vs Trac service life. No flat tires. Higher load rating..... Ground impact, ability to get on wet soft fields before tyre'd tractors can....👍👍🍺🍺🍺🇺🇸
I wish they'd have come forward with that demo a few years back as I'm always trying to demonstrate tyre technology and that tug of war was just as clear as day.
With interesting developments like the tracked T5 I would like to see more on tracks - but will watch any content you make as it informs and amuses me every time!
Very interesting and informative vid , definitely right Kurt , it’s certainly going to make me think when we reshood our horses 🚜🚜🚜, I would like see tracks put through there paces please 😁Thanks again H 👍
What a great video, seeing the half tracks reminds me of the war! (Don't mention the War!!) Tracks are OK, but tyres are a more all rounder for carting etc.. so TYRES!
Really interesting bit of film, the half tracks have become really popular, see a lot here when travelling around Suffolk and Norfolk. We have an inflate deflate system on our MAN 4x4 lorry at work and it has turned it in to an amazing bit of kit compared to its predecessor. Would be interested to see both pitched against each other on the same tractor doing the same job to do a comparison between the two systems
I really enjoyed this, even tho im not a farmer !! I was a farm boy 😁 many years ago,, learnt how to drive in a Haflinger, if anyone remembers them?! My only concern is the conversion cost from tyres to tracks for some farmers! I do watch a good deal of farm videos and track technology is getting better all the time, but so has tyre tech! Personally, I'll watch whatever you post!! 👍😁
Much fun had by all has to be tracks for me I'm subscribed and get all notifications enjoying all vids glad I found ur channel no bullshit just straight 👍
I think your video was one of the most informative you've made, really enjoyable. I liked the way both George and you presented it. Well done keep the good videos coming. One comment I would like to make is normally the harder the material you run tracks on the narrower the track, the softer the material the wider the track. I suppose the tracks would be something to see in real soft ground.
To a point, especially with excavators yes, track width is dependant on conditions but with tractors you don't have to go that wide as if it's dry enough to work, then a 24-30" belt is wide enough.
Would love to see more on rubber tracks. I thought they were delegated for higher hp equipment. But I see now they are working their way into utility tractors. Quite interesting.
Brilliant informative video 👍 would never have believed the traction that T8 got on tracks that didn't really seem to have a massive depth of tread 🤔 choice o track or tyre love to see the comparison on dampish heavy land 💪 but if it's one or the other ,,,,,tyres 👍
Crackin vid of George and ones self, very informative about gettin a good grip been on 360 diggers with rubber boots on. Would love to a bit of rubber track action mucca take care
There's pro's and con's to both tyres and tracks. However here in England i would say traction in the fields ,is mostly provided by tyres.Soooo lets see how the tracks do :) Great vids as usual mukka, keep up the great work :)
Tracks are great for certain applications but there are more moving parts and the costs are also things to consider.... especially in row crops these tracks are awesome. But I’ve you have a dairy farm tires are certainly the best configuration! Awesome video lads!
Looking forward to next year, I'd really like to hear/see more about the AEC Matador, or anything similar you've got lying around. I've no problem at all with the tractor content but it was the Matador videos that first got me into this channel. And, of course, loads of collie dog content, both from the rescue centre and homegrown stuff with the 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍 star of the show.😁👍
Can’t argue with a visual comparison with the exact same draft, field and weather conditions, excellent way of putting the point across. Tyres in heavy draft conditions such as ploughing, subsoiling, bed forming for me, Would be interesting to see what pressure settings work best at different tyre wear points such as 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%. New tyres or even tracks don’t stay at 100% for that long unfortunately. Puppy looks in his element in the 7810, he just wants to go working with it, can’t blame the pouch for that!!! Great stuff as always mate👍 🐶🚜🛠👍👌
As always, interesting in an accessible and down to earth way. I’m going to throw a spanner In the works... I’d have liked to have seen a tracks v tyres tug of war. As for next year... I’d like to see tracks..more I don’t know about with them. Cheers LM.
I remember when we had half track's on the Massey Ferguson the 148and the 165 but that was 40 years ago but that there is a major up grade to what I remember Good info mucker have a great day
My mate had a set on a 178 ! I asked him a few months back if they were still in the shed where they'd sat for years. Apparently they'd been scrapped a while back... 😔🤦🏻♂️
I did a fair bit of research into tyres vs tracks and it was an interesting outcome. Firstly tyres want to run at 8-12% slip whereas tracks run closer to 2-4% Ultimately if you dual/triple up and run at 'correct' pressures (sub 10psi) you'll grip better and compact less. However when it gets really bad tracks will get you further than tyres but by that point you're causing soil damage. The other thing with tracks is that they don't spread the weight as well as you imagine. They have significant peaks of downward force under the idlers. The saving grace of tracks in this country as you mentioned is size! You can drive a quadtrac down the road, but you'd struggle with one dualed up let alone trying to run triples! To answer your end question, I'd like to see tyres as that's what most people are running. How can we run them better? Are duals as good as modern tyres run at correct pressures?
We compared full tracks against Quadtracs for two seasons and no single type ticked all the boxes. The main factors were the variables such as soil type, workload and the conditions. Idler and running gear downforce is spread fairly evenly and isn't as big a factor as people imagine, especially on full tracks. Duals vs VF tyres is a close run thing and probably worth looking more closely at.
I know they weren't the focus, but those New Hollands are nice! 🚜 I'm probably on the losing end but I'm choosing tires (apologies, I really don't know why American English went astray) because I'm a bit old fashioned and I like the variety of treads available.
Great video mucka! Great collab' with George and michelin, iv said it before an I'll say it Again michelin tyres are the best and always have been for me, so I've really enjoyed this one!!! IS RITE LAA!!🤪👍
Should be law that Michelin representatives wear the marshmallow man outfits. Just seems right. Good to see George. Good show Muck. Best regards from Indiana, USA.
That last tyre, 7.50x16 should work great on my shyte land rover series. Your question, i say tracks. it be fun to see you build a Cuthbertson conversion for a older land rover with modern parts. Be fun to see how it performs in a field with the gearbox / engine set up from that era. And always a thumb up for your pupper.
Since you asked, I’d like to see a video showing the process from switching from tires to tracks. Also, it would be interesting to know the difference in price between the purchase cost of a tractor with rear tires and one with rear tracks. Thanks as always for the information.
Tyres I think mucker. Be more of us on them than tracks. I’d love to know how the road tyres would handle Buckrake work ( bit niche perhaps). My tractor spends most of its life on concrete or the road with a spell of OSR stubble in August which can be harder than you’d think on tyres
i always assumed that its was tracks or tyres, wasn’t aware that you could get tractors now that can run both like that t5 as for next year, tracks, a very rare sight down this way,but seen plenty of them on sufffolk visits
For me more information on tyres suits me. Being an all grass farm I’m unlikely to get tracks at any time soon. It’s all interesting but tyres more relevant 👍 do well
Great interesting video, always gone to Michelin for around performance in a mixed farming /contracting environment. Remember being told that optimum grip performance from a set of tyres was at 70% tyre wear, like with ploughing (one for George} Question how long a track setup would last on a loader tractor, how safe on slopes and silage clamp work etc. Did you see the Welkers with their 2 Big buds pulling a single leg pipe layer 6ft down, a proper test for tyres and grip
Forgive me being thick here but I didn't really understand the "race" there. Were the two towing tractors actually attached to the load tractor, or was the rope just running through a pulley on the front of it? For one tractor to gain like that, I suspect the latter and that would have to involve a whole variety of forces. I'd be interested to hear the science/maths involved in the calculations, to arrive at that 17% figure.
They had drawbar load monitors fitted (first part of test) which showed a 17% increase with gen 3 tyres at correct pressures. Both tractors were connected via a pulley on the rear tractor (which was in neutral) and therefore the one with most grip would be able to pull ahead.
It's like the agricultural two ronnies. Lol
That was impressive. Good to see you both together.
Tyre pressure is crucial for so many things and to see it in this video was gold!

Now that Tug of War was impressive. 👍🇬🇧
I think it would be cool to take 2 identical older tractors, and one have tracks and one with good tires. And pulling different tools. Great video
Tyres would be the one for me. Great vid
Brilliant video Mucker and great to see George with you again.
I'd like to see more tyre stuff please.
That was a spot on demonstration of the great advances in tyre technologies 👍 would also like to see more on the track attachments especially on the T5 size tractors 👍 great to see the gang back together 😉👌
Great video, good to see George and you out and about again👍🏻 Tracks for me👍🏻
Great comparison. Your absolutely correct it shows the difference in tires and pressures in a easy understandable fashion. Great video. Thanks
That was a cool video mate. Tracks 🚜👍🐶🐕🐾
I'd like to see tracks being tested as I know nothing about rubber tracks, how they perform etc. A great video with you and George,
Definitely tracks. Different soil conditions, different applications. And your puppy is just so darned cute!🐶❤️
The pullin test comparison was mint with the winded down skins! Never seen it done like that
It's just so visual. 👌🏼
Just been thinking George and yourself have been quiet on the video front this week and blow and behold you both appear... 👍👍👍
brilliant film as always , great information and what a way to show the true difference of the right tyre pressures , hope you dont mind but have a look at why we use tracks , Norfolkfords on youtube and the tulip monster. keep up the great work , and of course more tracks please

Very interesting stuff. Quite an eye opener even to someone like me that doesn't farm. Top stuff melod!

If the 4wd is activated with tracks on. How do the tractor compensate the lack of speed. Have the tractors diff. Between frontaxle and rearaxle.?
It's the same as if fitted with tyres, hence the gearbox
