Appreciate the Comments about our overly PC and Hypersensitive Society that is afraid of everything but telling you that we’re doing something wrong. I’m sorta glad it’s not just a US problem, I think the common sense overly PC pendulum has swung over to beyond stupid, hopefully we find somewhere in the middle between no safety and all the safety. I like watching your Channel and a few others like you that are “normal” blue collar guys. Thanks for the dose of Normal.

As someone who has actually worked in health and safety your rant was pretty much spot on. So many people assume you are supposed to gear yourself up as much as possible when that simply isn't true.
Its all common sense. unfortunately common sense is so damn rare.

In the early eighties, me and some mates were given a job by a local business man. He had bought a bungalow, but didn't like it so he gave us the job of demolishing the old one so he could build another. Being teenagers at the time, we had an awesome time, jumping through ceilings. Ripping the roof to pieces. Charging through plaster board walls. Smashing down walls with sledgehammers. All without a single piece of PPE. Apart from scratches, a marvelous time was had by all.

Hear, Near well said Mucker. You made an old man very happy, I never thought after 40 years i would never see let alone hear the old girls back again. I
shovelled thousands of tons of silage, shit and corn and the old girl never missed a beat.
We had a contractor in with a D 8 dozer clearing sarcen stones to make a new field, some of the stones were that big we had to push side by side. You have never heard a noise like it.
Thank You for bringing back all those happy memories, I could all most smell the hot oil again !!

Here in the US we have gone completely crazy and honestly cant compliment a person for even the simplest thing. While much like you Brits we need to come together and get strong against all the evil that is attacking us, i.e. terrorist, communist, etc., and not worry about a few brambles.

Hi, your remarks about safety precautions reminded me of something my dad said many years ago. He was a steel worker in Sheffield and had his share of accidents along with the other workers, so much so that the management brought in an overwhelming amount of safety gear. In typical fashion my dad said words to the effect of "If we have to wear all this f__king stuff we'll never get the bleeding job done "
    I miss the old guy.
Thanks for sharing and best regards from Ireland.

I was suddenly reminded of seeing something a hell of a lot like that in 1968 1970 used to load trucks with sand at a quarry down the road here. Not as fast as todays pivot steerers but like that surprisingly powerful and able to fill 2 cube in a shovel full. That was a very impressive thing at the time. This is an impressive thing now as you rescue it from the blackberry bushes & put it to work to give it a flex. Well done squire.

I agree with you, Kurt, on safety kit. Enough to do what you need and … no more. The people who haven’t twigged that you just took off your eye protection are the people who:
have never operated bench saws/drills, never used a grinder or concrete cutter, never cleared scrub, never pruned/felled any trees and do not know what is like to be lying on your back whilst constantly having to clean your safety glasses of crap; and … get a job done. I could list quite a few other tasks BUT you probably get my point. Cheers from NZ🇳🇿.

When I was 14 (nearly 40 years ago) a farm I worked on at weekends and school holidays had one just like this one. It came from the National Coal Board (NCB) It brought back great memories looking in the cab and I remember how cold the steering wheel got in the winter with the aluminium wheel knob, plus the noise from the cab brought it all back as well, sounds lovely for about an hour but pretty tiresome after that!!!!
As many others have said common sense isn’t very common in this day and age and I agree 100% we need to fight back otherwise what is there left of everything we have all worked for. Progress is good and I am glad it’s not like it was when my grandad was a young man, however it turns my guts to see youngsters with no understanding of what has gone before and truly how good life is now in comparison to the past.
I am certainly not expecting then to keep me when I get to retirement because by then they won’t even be able to wipe their arse let alone mine!!!!!

I know how ya feel Lord Muck. I had to remove a very badly designed snowplow attachment from my E140 for the season and I was flipping the eff out. Eventually it came out but it was its usual awful self. I didn't throw things or hurt things but cursed so loudly in the garage that objects like metal panels on my car and the garage door resonated from my shouting. All good now, forward progress! I will have to redesign the locating pin bracket as it keeps spreading out, bodging up the works. I did clean the mower deck (BADLY IN NEED OF IT) and spray it down with WD40 and removed, sharpened, and replaced the three blades. Battery powered impact guns are a MIRACLE!!!!!
It's a pittance compared to what you do but it was good progress.
