- Today we picked out 10 Subarus you probably have never heard of! Some of them are cool, others well, we will leave that up to you!

If you ever wondered why a 911 GT3 RS comes standard with AC, and it is an expensive option to not have it in the car, I can explain why.
It's because Porsche are fanatical about lap times. And they discovered a long time ago that a cool driver is much faster than a hot driver.
PS. I have one of the rarest GF8s of all time; a 1997 Tommy kaira M20b wagon, in spectacular condition. I also have Porsches, but I daily the little TK. I describe it as "two thirds of a 911 turbo wagon", and with a massively reinforced 5-speed close ratio RA gearbox (7500rpm redline at 215kmh!), lots of tune, it is one of the most exciting cars I have ever driven. I've had it for 6 years, and I'll probably have it for another 6 years. :)
Nah it's because they 60 year old boomers who can afford them want to pretend they drive a race car, but need their creature comforts. 😂😂😂

roof scoop are not for cooling. They are to provide positive pressure to the cabin to help keep dust out

Someone need to put together a list of the rare Legacy and Forestor models. The Legacy was really popular in Japan and got some really crazy rare models. Nevermind ,the s40x, tuned by STI or Spec Bs models look up the Porsche design Legacy Blitzen.
If you know about those you know about the blitzen. It wasn't exactly rare, only manual blitzens are rare.
@@railfanatic1416 Yeah, a couple thousand were made, which for mass produced cars fits the definition of rare IMO and most reasonable people share that same opinion. The premise of this video is rare Subaru's you've never heard of. I would argue that only having two thousand made and being only for Japan would meet the criteria for an English American video.
@dhanipersaud6227 that's 2000 for the revision AC version. Subaru made many more in revision D, just without the Porsche Design branding. They're not exactly rare and i swear it's like the first subaru everyone brings up when someone asks about rare subarus
@@railfanatic1416 The literally sold thousands of them, which makes them rare, and only in Japan. You literally more likely to talk about and see a Lamborghini Huracán. Therefore, I would say it meets the criteria for this video. When people talk about rare Subaru's they rarely talk about anything outside the rare WRX models because that's where most of the enthusiast interest is.
@dhanipersaud6227 no, they're not rare, and there's not much special about them besides a bumpers, a wing, wheels, and different interior colors. I have literally seen a video of someone walking on the sidewalk and a blitzen wagon passed by. You are much less likely to find say a Legacy GT30 wagon or RS30 sedan than a blitzen. Now that's rare. Between manual Blitzens, automatic Blitzens, and Blitzen 6s, they were a somewhat popular trim
I love my rare Subaru, I have a Canadian specR1 wrx (#12/125). Just makes it feel special and different. Also the sonic yellow is such a nice colour!

@@Kotone_ENNo it isn’t. The R-1 has BBS wheels and was made without the club spec badging. Probably also different tuning.

In Greece in the early 2000s due to cars being taxed based on their cc the WRX and WRX STi though popular were very expensive . For that reason Greek dealerships started tuning the base model 1.6 with a turbo kit ,larger injectors , stiffer and lower coilovers and with some exterior upgrades. The cars, called 1.6TS , were somewhat popular but they also were very unreliable. They were offered in Sedan and Hatchback form
Russian here... we got some of these sh!tboxes. Still not bad!
There were two upgrades, the 150hp and 180hp.
The 150hp ones got the turbo itself, turbokit (ecu, all plumbing, injectors), wrx rims (14" aluminum) and an s-turbo badge
The 180hp ones got alot more, same as 150hp + bigger brakes, bigger turbo, pistons and selective interior upgrade.
Prodrive didn’t work closely with the Subaru works rally team. They were the Subaru works rally team. Also, it’s pronounced Pet-ter Solberg. Not Pee-ter Solberg. 👍🏻
My stepdad had a WR1 when I was in my teens. Was an excellent car. Except when he sat in the garage "warming it up" (see also revving the fuck out of it) at 6am before he went to work. Hated the thing then.

there are a lot of rare subarus in NZ.
the reason being of the late peter possum bournes long rally association (just missed out on joining the APRC: asia pacific rally championship) with subaru. google him its a sad tale.
his workshop still lives on specialzing in subarus.

There is also a Saab 9-2x ( an Subaru Impreza wagon). They are very cool in my opinion.

Need to add some legacy/liberty content. Great car would’ve been the s401/s402. Great car and extremely rare. Like borderline unheard of except for leggy community. Otherwise great video, I’m suprised you’ve only got a couple thousand with the quality I fully expected 100k+

You got one thing wrong. the 2017 final edition did NOT have green brembos. It has them silver. And the stock 19" enkei wheels are not dark grey but golden oem. the rest are accessories, indeed.

of rare Subaru Impreza's you always got the one that is a Subaru Impreza but isn't a Impreza, nor is it a Subaru.
it's a SAAB 9-2X!
and it's basically a Impreza wagon with the front incl. lights of an SAAB 9-3, and for long was half the price of the car with Subaru logo.
It's based on a Subaru sure, but I don't think it's that rare
it's rare enough when you factor in that only sold in one country, the USA.
it was also a wagon, something that didn't help on the sales and most of em was stick-shift, something that US buyers are not that fond off.
while it sold a lot more than cars in this list it still a very low volume car and it was also not just a "sticker-car" but had unique bodykit and interior.
(sticker-car = cars that just got some sticker-badges and maybe the badge embroidered into the seats if very fancy, else it's 100% identical to the standard version)

My mate owned a Mcrae edition years ago. Absolute beast it was and a collectable over here in the U.K now, along with the RB320 which you see for around 25k now

I have a black 2003 Type UK WRX STI with the Prodrive performance package, absolutely loving it.
They are relatively rare over here in UK, generally speaking. When I'm out and about I probably see another Impreza maybe once or twice every few months.

I know a Subaru many of you never heard of. It was a special edition for the gc8 Impreza it was called the „Holzer Edition“ it was only released in Germany and some nearby countries. The car was only available in silver or red with the interior in matching color. Also the car had a very pleasing bodykit with nice looking rims you can only find on the Holzer. Although it is N/A with 125hp, it actually got a special exhaust system from Prodrive.
Have a friend who owns a series McRae. Lovely motor. Another friend with a WR1.
And a guy that goes to shows with him has a genuine 22b.
I have a 2002 wrx wagon. Don’t see many of them nowadays either.
My all time favorite Subaru limited model was the Impreza Gravel Express. If more crossovers were done like that, the car community would probably have a lot less hate for them

I've got an '01 WRX UK300 which was built to commemorate Richard Burns winning the WRC that year. Limited to 300 models (going up to 303 following the no #13 rule). Had some nice Prodrive parts on them, particularly the headlights that seem to be very sought after. also has a special Prodrive spoiler, front bumper lip (which mine is unfortunately missing), Prodrive/OZ racing 18" wheels, and a bunch of UK300 branded floor mats, badges and a plaque somewhere in the interior, which oddly seems to be in different places at random.

I own a Subaru Forester STI type 2 M. It's pretty much as stock as it came with beautiful 5 spoke STI Rays original alloys! The car needs more coverage. Drives and performs beautifully. Great video, my friend ✨️

Please do a special edition about the Evo’s. it would be great to see a mention for the Evo X TMR Bathurst edition which was an Australia special.
I have a rare model you've probably never heard of it as it was UK only. Its a bugeye UK300, the one in my profile pic. Those lights are oem. Peter Stevens helped prodrive make it after Burns rally success. Unique spoiler, (apparently the only 1 wind tunnel tested) rare 18" oz pwrc 1 wheels, and more downforce at the front. Plus some other bits. As the name suggests only 300 were made

When I was looking for my first car I stumbled upon a fairly cheap Impreza... It was a "Holzer" Edition and turns out it's RWD but with the small engine.
Didnt get it at that time but would sure be unique.
My favorite is the Travis hatchback . I need one. I love the hatchback WRX

That Subaru Impreza with the round lights seems to have been inspired by the Dodge Neon round lights.

In greece we have a 1600 cc turbo impreza for the bug and blob gens, they call it the subaru impreza ts
13 in an unlucky number in Japan and all standard subarus will not have any 13mm nuts or bolts so if you find some that means someone been playing on the car

That's a Type RA Spec C, just spec C were the generation after late 2002> and they were sold for competition use in 16" form, they're not themselves homologation cars though. I have an 03, very wild cars compared to normal STI 👍

Subaru wrx sti available in semi automatic called WRX STI A-Line in stinkeye generation. Only available in selected asian market like japan, Hongkong, thailand , singapore and Indonesia
The type euro looks almost identical to the BH/BE blitzen, which was born out of the same partnership
Another worthy mentions are the Subaru pleo nesta with it's different variants, and The Subaru Leone models are that rare iirc as I don't see them mentioned often anywherr

P.S. From this list definitely RB320 is my favorite back in the day it was my thing when everyone was into Supras, 430s and GTRs.
I miss my WR1. It wss handed down to me by my dad and recently got written off. I was driving through a green light and a woman ran the red light hitting the rear quarter panel

The 2018 STI was never a WRX edition, kinda seems as though that's how it was presented here. They took the WRX spec away from that model onwards.

Prodrive ran Subaru's WRC until Subaru pulled out in 2008.
Prodrive also co-owned Ford's Australian Tuning arm, FPV.
here in aus subaru is one ofthe most popular sport cars because of price, performance, and looks, I know 2 people with a 2011 and 2015 wrx, I've got a 1998 Subaru forester sf that I wanna turbo (I'm gonna leave it cause I've not got my full licence yet).
I had a 2003 Liberty B4 when I lived in australia... What made it unique was we after probably too much money and custom tuning had a twin vf34 running on stock ecu with semi close stock timing and boost values.
Made about 240kw on 98. Those ej208s can take a POUNDING. It was my daily -_- which in hindsight was many bad ideas. I didnt have kids back then though! Due to my state in Australia being basically Florida on steroids with saltwater crocs not coward gators...
It was straight piped :) single exit. The vallley of death and box of death were real though, stock to how we had it... that valley is inescapable and the vaccuum lines was just stupidity.
Now I run a lifted vf52 bolt ons 180kw 07 cross sports forester :) ej205 avcs.
Ive only ever owned ej20s... and not really interested in the other engines.

subaru s201, just the s200 line. also because im bais the gf8 lol. everyone has heard of the 22b and the sedan. but the wagon is more rare than you think especially the double big spoilers in the back

The cosworth cs400 is such a pos and the worst variant and version subaru have ever done, the wing design in no way even close to how the cosworth design is, Subaru should be ashamed for creating such a failure collaboration
