  • On this episode Jim Rixen, owner and founder of Rixen Enterprises and is the gentleman who distributes the Espar heaters in our Storytellers. Jim talks in depth about the best practices for maintenance, troubleshooting, and overall knowledge of how our heating systems are designed.
This episode is packed full of useful information and in my opinion a must listen - because hey, who wants to deal with their heater not working when it’s cold outside, especially if it could be prevented?

Very nice....the KEY parameter here is 0.8 gallon per minute water flow for the hot water via a heat exchanger (this number will save you 45 minutes of this video). This cannot be understated as to the difference between carrying a 5 gallon hot water tank vs a heat exchanger. This all you need to know. FIY, per the FEDS, the standard shower head flow rate is 2.5 gallon per minutes. This should give you some ideas.

The contract for Espar was done with North west research and development , stolen credit card, no clue about electronics. What a shame

I have a custom converted Sprinter with a Rixen Hydronic system. Long way from service but now that I know how often, where, who does this work?

We purchased our system from Rixen Enterprises in 2019 and installed it ourselves. As he mentioned in the video, their customer service is outstanding! After 3 years, we had an issue with the thermostate and they sent us a new one that same day. After watching this video and another of their videos I think we are way overdue to have our furnace serviced.

Those Normal/fake fault codes he was talking about didn’t make it to the description/show notes. I hade a few, and the systems is almost running well.
