"Decluttering with mom" is the best! ❤ Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Thank you happy Thanksgiving ❤
I just love your mom's sense of humor.
so nice to see the two of you giggling away 😊 kathy has become such a role model of making and explaining decluttering decisions. and what i also like is that it becomes evident that decluttering actually isn't done in one pass but needs more and frequent ones.
Enjoy these momens with your mum.
Always look forward to watching when your mom is on. She is my age and she is funny. She makes so much sense also.
Same here!
Me too
You are so right about not saving stuff for "special" occasions....after several health problems that could have ended differently I have learned that each day is a gift/special....wear the clothes, use the nice dishes, etc...enjoy life to the fullest...💖
I’m 61 and have never worn a scarf. My age might make me a senior, but I feel and dress way younger. I have a home daycare and pretty much live in t shirts and shorts in the summer and sweatshirts and leggings in the winter. No fancy clothes for me.
Shannon I love your curls and that dress looks so vintage...you look so cute!!! And your mom gives me such motivation! She is so fun and carefree!!
I so love decluttering with Mom videos!! The bloopers made me laugh out loud!! Thanks for brightening my Sunday 😂❤
Yay 🎉 thank you.
Nothing better on a Sunday morning, drinking my coffee and watching a Shannon and Kathy video🙂
Good morning! Thank you ❤
The scarf conversation and the "just in case" comment made me laugh so hard! Let it ALL go, Kathy!
Wonderful video, as usual! I am an older woman (70 yo) and have worn scarves for many years. I live where the seasons can be extreme. I have found that silk chiffon scarves work better for the hotter months. Chiffon breathes more and I don’t get overheated. Scarves add that bit of color and or can change the style of an outfit (e.g., casual to dressy). They are a great addition to a minimalist wardrobe and when traveling with fewer clothes. I find most of my scarves can be used with many of my basic pieces. It isn,t necessary to buy one scarf for one particular outfit. There are great videos on RUclips showing different ways to fold scarves. I love scarves!😊💕
Fun! Kathy, I'm smiling over the scarves. Im about your age and my fantasy self wants to wear scarves, but my real self does not. I do live in the Utah mountains though, and wear knit muffler-type scarves in winter for warmth. It's the summer scarves I never wear and I have a drawer full. Each year I get rid of a few (like you). Culling them down slowly.
So satisfying ! I took photos of my favorite heels after putting them in a circle & standing over them for the photo op. Made a wonderful artsy pic. Boxed them up for a specific charity that helps women with job interviews. No more heels for me, but I sure did enjoy the decades of searching for size 5 pumps 😉
Great video with the two of you.
I think a lot of us have stuff squirrelled away like your mom.
It is so good that your Mom has been going through her house getting rid of all the unused stuff.
I feel it is such a loving act for a person’s family. My parents did not do that and it taught me I never want to leave my kids with a houseful of stuff they will never want.
I hope you never run out of clutter as I love these Mother daughter videos ❤
Just last week j decluttered the "just in case" bras. I think I finally realized if I want to go back to that style I will need to find the right fit. our bodies change so it is good to revisit the entire wardrobe on occasion. Enjoyed your video!
Me too! Why do we hang onto just in case. Out the door they go!
The *best* duo on RUclips!
Cathy I feel you with the scarves!
I’m 63 and a lot of my contemporaries wear them and look great. I just get a hot neck 😂 even with thin silk ones. But I buy silk scarves from a charity shop, try them once, remember they make me too hot 😂 and cut them up to use in embroidery projects. I reckon at about £2 each that’s a bargain!
I just got rid of most of my belts and a belt hang. I have tons of scarves wh8ch are lovely, but though I live in chilly Wisconsin, they just feel too bulky on me.
As for your mom's colors, I think she looks best in dark or vibrant colors.
Love you and your mom! Clothes that don’t fit and you save “bully you” - Cas from Clutterbug said that expression and it is so true! That’s when I got rid of all clothes that just do not fit. I am your mom’s age and I too have a bin of scarves - 😂. Love the bloopers!! You two are so funny and cute together!❤. Your videos make my day - great way to start my day with a smile!
I wear scarves all the time! Like you said... a different climate. I'm in northern MN. It's nice to keep my neck warm in the fall/winter/spring here. 😄
Dear Mom, I love scarves as well but rarely wear them. One way that I've found flattering is to place the middle in front, ends go over the shoulders, around the back and wrap back over the shoulders. Okay, twist the front loop and push one end through from the front of the twist and the the other through the back of it. The ends hang down. This makes a secure, unfussy way to wear them that reduces bulk. The Hawaii scarf might look nice this way.
LOVE Shannon’s hair!
My absolute favorite videos are you with your Mom. I find myself laughing and smiling throughout the whole video! I especially like it when you talk through decisions. How often do we all try on things that we don't wear or household stuff we don't use, and they go right back into the closet, shelf or drawer?! Excellent video!
“…we have those belly dancing skirts,” Mom says in all seriousness. 🤣🤣🤣
I can't wear heels anymore either, and I loooovvvveee that navy and white spotty scarf! (It also suited you Kathy, keep it!)
It's great to declutter at the beginning of a season. No one will need winter stuff in May! I definitely get the texture issue! Another great video with both of you!
Unless you live in Newzealand!😅...we get rain & snow in may
What a fun and motivating video! I now need to put “declutter my closet” higher on my priority list, taking the tips from this video to heart. Thank you, sweet ladies. You both make decluttering seem enjoyable rather than a chore.
Yay! Thank you!
Delightful, charming and clearly practical approach to simplifying one’s clothing. Another A team success!
I really like the title. It is so light hearted. It's truly profound! It's really not so serious, let's lighten up the unnecessary load and be happy. Life is not stuff!
I love the videos of you and your Mom together. Thank you!
I really enjoy these videos with your Mom. I identify with her logic so much. And you are a very sweet daughter. Plus these videos are very helpful.
You two are so much fun to watch! Today's version of Lucy and Ethell. The fact you are enjoying one another's company and able to give great advice is awesome. Your channel is one of my most favorite Shannon!
Yay! Your mom is the sweetest/coolest!
I love the videos with your Mum. You have such a nice relationship and I like seeing how she is so open to learning new habits from her daughter. It’s lovely ❤
Watching this reminds me why I was making my own clothes a few years ago. I should go back to that.
Always love seeing the two of you together! Y'all have so much fun - even when decluttering! Your mom's closet looks so neat and organized! She got rid of a good amount! Great job! Thanks for sharing!💗
trust me Shannon and Cathy - I live in that OTHER climate and I too suffer from being hot all the time and I NEVER wear scarves unless they are made of wool and I"m going for a walk in minus -20C weather....so get rid of them unless they are for dressing up.....great vid ladies!
Great job, Kathy! You two are so funny at the end. 😂
Thank you!! 😁
Yay! My favorite video.👏👏👏
Your Mom got rid of a bunch!
You are my favorite decluttering person Shannon. I have been looking for someone to motivate me for a long time and you are the only one that actually helps me get rid of things. Everyone else that I have seen talks about it but does not touch it. You are your mom are good comedy relief too. Thank you both for helping us. Got rid of a scratchy comforter that I bought at Kohl's that I have not used in years. So proud of myself. Dawn from Maryland
Shannon, I’ve been a subscriber since you started and I just want to say your channel has just blossomed ❤. I look forward to your new videos every week. Your mom and I are close in age and she makes me laugh and laugh. Can’t wait for the next one!! Best wishes!!!
I always love your mom’s decluttering. My mom & I decluttered at her house last month, and I’m working on my kitchen/ pantry/ dining room at the moment. I went through the whole house last year. I’m realizing how much of a regular habit it’s become and how far I’ve come. It’s more pleasant and less stressful and overwhelming than it was initially. Hope you all have a lovely Thanksgiving! ☀💛🍯🐝🏆✨
Once again, I love watching you and your Mama decluttering.
Oh thank you!
You two are hilarious! ❤ And yes Shannon, you’re right! You look great in that dress… don’t keep it hidden in your closet for “special occasions”. Make every day be the special day🎉!
Great video ladies! I love watching the two of you together. Your videos make me miss my mom I used to do a lot things with her ,and had so much fun.
I love seeing you and your mom decluttering. This was such a fun video! Thank you!
Love all your videos ❤️❤️
The comment about your mum's top about not being able to find her in it gave me such a laugh😅. Love these videos with your mum decluttering too as we older ones can relate to her items with a 'Oh I remember those lol'.
Thanks for the inspiration ladies!!!❤
Thanks for watching!
Very motivating!
Please reconsider donating your solid turquoise scarf. It’s a pop of color that is striking with your hair color! Also, great with black clothing.
Always fun with the two of you. 😅 I’m 73 and have fallen into the scarf trap. 🤪 I declutter ed a lot a couple years ago. Definitely need to go through again. They al says seem to be such a great idea when you buy them but when you decide to wear them they just flop around are a more of a nuisance thank a fashion statement. 😂
You can also tie little cute scarves onto your purse handle!
Great job! I think if you hung your scarves, you would see them and might be more likely to wear them.
I decided just now to flip my hangers around. I am sure there are things I am not wearing.
So great to see you two today. Love the bloopers! Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy the mountains. 🙂
This was really a fun video! Thanks for sharing.
Love seeing your mom...she's about my age, so I relate to many of her comments,
I just love the videos with your mom,you too always make me laugh.
Thanks for sharing the bloopers, they really made me laugh 😂
Love it Shannon and Kathy! I’m always inspired to declutter after watching. Keep them coming! The bloopers were great too! 😂💛💛💛
Yay! Thank you!
Kathy with the beaded scarf I thought your story was going to be you'd done belly dancing for fitness😂
Yes, I love that dress on you, Shannon!
I have thin but large scarves, that can also be used as a shawl. I take them into places that I think may be cold due to A/C or if I need them only for a while, knowing the day is going to warm up. They fit in a quart size baggie. Squeeze out the air and they fit in most purses. Much more minimal and light than jackets and sweaters.
Gosh, I love yall so much!
“You have those belly dancing skirts”…😂😂😂😂😂😂
I always love watching videos that feature your mom - you two are so funny together! That dress is really flattering on you. I'm glad you decided to wear it. I am an oncology nurse and feel like every day that I am alive and in good health is a "special day," so I try not to keep "special occasion" clothes anymore, I just wear what I like when I feel like it.
❤
Shannon “maybe we can find more… Mom…gives the mom “look”. We all know the mom look. Bahahaha! Love it!
Great video ,ladies. I have decluttered my whole house with inspiration from you. It's going to really help me going through a major surgery on the 28th.
That first scarf you took out of the bin is wonderful... I love that
Oh yes.....I've decided the same thing....one top is cool for winter but too warm for summer.....I'm trying to remember that when buying new items 😂......you two are a breath of fresh air.....love your vedios!
Mum rips me up. Just love her n the relationship that you both have.
Update us a year from now...how many times you actually use the scarves!
Found your channel. Must say that iam glad i did😃. Iam swedish. Living in sweden. Got so mutch inspiration watching your program. Many greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪 to both you and your mom.
You two crack me up!
Watched twice. Love your energy and the way you reason what to keep and what to let go.
You lovely ladies make me smile. 🙂
A few tops, a few bottoms, a few pairs of footwear, a few bras, a few scarves... and suddenly the bed is covered in donations! Every little bit makes a difference. 😊
So fun! Shannon's expressions as Mom is talking about wearing those scarves 😅! Y'all always put a smile on my face. Have a happy Thanksgiving.
Good job of letting go of those scarfs. I can definitly understand why it is hard to let go of such items even if one never really uses it.
It is because we are fancy little magpies that loves Shiney. Some things are just fun to go through to apriciate the colours and textures and not really for using. So even letting go of a few of such a category is a very good job in my book. :)
I love your videos with your mom. Your relationship reminds me of my daughter and I. Besties.
No, Kathy - keep the brown and toss the gray. Your coloring is warm and is much better suited to brown. The gray is too cold for your hair. It's not a good contrast. I hope I'm not too late!!!! Lol....... Love you both.........Happy Holidays.
I had those same black patent leather sandles for going out to dinner on our trips to Mexico. Got rid of them recently when I got a pair I like better!
I live in a place where scarves are essentially half of the year round. I have four total. One spring, one autumn and two winter. I’ve had more but they just sat in the cupboard. They have to be right by the door in the right season and they all get well worn.
It's always so fun to watch your "Mom & Me" videos, and this was no exception!
I am glad you ladies are enjoying each other and your decluttering ! Happy thanksgiving!
I LOVE scarves... have loads of them. I am 61 and have worn scarves all my life. They can lift an outfit, keep you warm, hide the "neck stuff", very versatile accessory. Love the video. ❤
Y’all are the cutest. ❤
I have a lot of “what was I thinking” moments! 😝
Wow, your closet is so different from the first time I saw you on Shannon’s channel. I’m so proud of you!
Thank you so much!!
Loved the additional bloopers it gave me a good laugh. ❤
Shannon, you should keep all the scarves (bloopers 🤣🤣)
I was going to compliment you Shannon on your hair I have curly hair also it’s nice to see you leave it curly and do love the dress ❤️I have a ton of scarves lol but I will say the Hawaiian. Scarf was the best 👌🏻 Sunday fun with Mom 😂🤣so funny you two in the closet 🤣the bloopers are the best 🤣💯👏🏻❤️✌🏻
I love watching you and your Mom declutter together, always makes me laugh x
We just change with age 🤷🏻♀️ over time our size & our coloring- even our skin and hairs texture and needs. Seems more and more something I lived in all one season the next year it looks not so good 🙃 Btw scarf from Hawaii did look really good on her & with her coloring, just hanging loose untied 👌
Another wonderful video. You make a good team .
Seeing a new video delights me!
Kathy: I can see why when shopping for clothing, you are drawn to color, pattern, and texture. It is because you are an artist, and so your eye is looking with that perspective😊 I can also relate to seeing something that looks visually pretty or appealing, but then it does not look good as clothing when put on. I see so many people wear lovely plaids. But when I put them on, I look like
I'm going to bale hay l o l. I can also relate to all of the low cut neckline tops... It is so hard to find a crew neck these days.
Shannon: I think it's nice that you are wearing your dress and enjoying it. It is such a habit to save things for some special occasion. I wonder where we first derived that mindset?? Either way, it is definitely a strong pull to do that. I love having a minimal closet, but right now, it's a little bit too minimal because I am unable to find the warmer pieces that I want, due to everything being plunging neck line, bulky sweaters or plaid et cetera I've decided that plaid looks lovely as a throw pillow just not on me.
😊I'm so happy to see you both doing well and revisiting the closet again!! Go us❤❤❤
Happy Thanksgiving week! I'm going to make homemade rolls, a vegetable broccoli casserole and a pie to take to our dinner.😊
Hello Julia, it's always nice to hear from you! I think you are right with my mom being an artist it makes sense she is drawn to all the pretty colorful things. I am trying hard to wear everything I own and not save anything for special occasions (unless it's a formal dress). I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. =)
I so love ❤ watching you and your mom work together! Happy early Thanksgiving to you both.
