Most of the cameras in China cover the roads to catch driving offences. There are an insane amount trying to catch drivers. In regards to cameras everywhere else, we're probably on par with them. The big difference is the cameras in China are quite noticeable, but the ones in the UK are quite discreet. You'll be surprised how many cameras are in the UK, we just don't notice them. It's only when you deliberately look for them you suddenly realise how many cameras are out there in the UK. For instance every cash point machine has an inbuilt camera.

If we were in a police state then the people throwing bricks at the police would've been dealt with VERY differently. Look at how protesters in Hong Kong are dealt with.

China has 5 cameras on every street corner, being watched by various Chinese agencies.... This bloke is bonkers!
Most of the cameras in China cover the roads to catch driving offences. There are an insane amount trying to catch drivers. In regards to cameras everywhere else, we're probably on par with them.
The big difference is the cameras in China are quite noticeable, but the ones in the UK are quite discreet. You'll be surprised how many cameras are in the UK, we just don't notice them. It's only when you deliberately look for them you suddenly realise how many cameras are out there in the UK. For instance every cash point machine has an inbuilt camera.
