Arrow is a legend. They ruled the roller coaster world at one point. I have so much respect for their innovation and ideas. I miss you Ron Toomer! Rest In Peace.
Wrong. Look up Togo Ultra Twister videos. The Ultra Twister is basically a pipeline coaster, and it's much more modern. Togo no longer makes them, but there are still lots of videos of them on here. Before saying something stupid like "The only pipeline video", maybe do research before commenting.
@@PlatinumEagleStudios wow, ladies and gentleman, here we have the typical keyboard warrior. I was referring to the rct3 pipeline coaster model, not the ultra twister. So curb you wannabe geeky smartass comment to yourself and get a life
Growing up in SoCal this type of footage is what got me into coasters. The Viper was MASSIVE in it's time. I remember being so scared and so excited when it opened! 185 FEET!!!!!
i had the pleasure of riding this coaster in ( now defunct Shaab Park in Kuwait back in 03-04). it was something so unique. from what i remember it was way slower than in the video if my memory is correct. here is a link that explains how it located in South Korea and finally relocated to Kuwait: 248am.com/mark/interesting/the-spiral-coaster-at-shaab-park/#comment-1206491
I spoke to him one time on the phone as a teenager in high school for about 5 minutes asking about engineering schools. What a great memory. At the end of the conversation he said send an email, I would probably get a faster reply. Thanks for the memory Ron. R.I.P. !
+Kyle Gardner Arrow always had financial problems and any project that couldn't sell they put on the back burner. I don't know exactly what happened but it never materialized. I know Intamin built 2 very close to this design.
+YoshiFTW Little is known about the Spiral coaster by Intamin but there was only one made, and that one was relocated. It is SBNO (since 2005) at a park in Kuwait.
+Kyle Gardner There were plans by John Wardley to open a rollercoaster of this sort at Alton Towers in the '90s, but when he travelled over to ride the prototype they discovered that it was too slow and bulky, and that it would have been too boring to be financially efficient and exciting to open one. This is probably the main reason that they scrapped this coaster type. I do know however that there are TOGO pipeline coasters operating in multiple parks in Japan.

Did they know that they could just design rides around the heartline in the first place? Anyway just watching this looks rough. Tennessee Tornado should have been the first of many.
Ron Toomer designed rides using a piece of wire in his office. Alan S. came to Arrow too late to save it. He was responsible for the Tennessee Tornado.
Simply because it's still easier and okay to twist the track around main spine. Espescially when Arrow track isn't designed for high intensity long duration low to the ground element. So smoothness isn't the main concern. At least before B&M destroy them into the piece.
May I use this video in a review of Nemesis? I'm talking about how it was originally supposed to be a pipeline coaster, and this is a great video to use. I promise to give full credit.
@@DavidVitrano What would be the point, they tried bringing it back but Maurer made a more modern version of the steeplechase. I kinda feel the Togo Heartline Coaster was the modern Pipeline coaster.

The strange looking coaster at 4:58 is the Top at the now defunct Riverview Park.
That is a fucking masterpiece of a coaster, more should be built now
17:22 this is the only pov of a pipeline coaster that exists

16:51 "Good work, old chap" That touched my heart. I bet Dal still misses Ron. RIP to one of the best designers in coaster history.
You ain't kidding. I met Ron & talked to him many times @ IAAPA. Even got his autograph! A very nice, humble man. Thank YOU Ron! For all the thrills.

This is what Nemesis at Alton towers was going to be!
You wouldn't catch me on a coaster if I was born before the invention of the "upstop" wheels
if there was a mix between this and ultra twisters i would be so happy
Yep, that guys roof leaks.
the pipeline coaster can be avenged by the use of triangles instead of just straight pipe for support
At 4:58 holy crap what is that?
ShroomWalrus ikr
You can find it easier if you search for Scenic Spiral Wheel Coney Island
7:48. I didn’t know Sam Kinison rode the Viper.
I wish they built at least one of those pipeline coasters that opened to the public.
It even sounds rough!!
so glad we got nemesis...
Shame none of these were ever built at any amusement parks. It would’ve been fun to ride these coasters.
It is a shame. They look like fun. I think Intamin or Vekoma built 2 similar in design but Im not sure if they are still operating.

The coaster was doomed from the start. It might as well be a sealed metal tank. lol
It needed a lot of work yet. Arrow was not prepared for B&M to come in and steal their thunder.
The pipeline looked so fun it looked better than the arrow mega loopers
Pretty crazy that the ultra twister was originally intended to be Nemesis at Alton towers.
what even happened with this design? where did they go with it? did they just scrap this coaster and forget about it?

That guy 7:47 and again at 8:05! Did they let Sam Kinison ride that coaster?
Wasn't the under wheel track design not invented until 1920 with Jack Rabbit? Or close to that?

That was a Virginia Reel coaster, many were built but only 1 remains today.
+Tom L do you know where that last one is located?
+Nick Kleijnen, The last one is in Joyland Amusement Park, located in Great Yarmouth in the UK. it has been operating there since 1950.

rough concept, but doesn't that first drop remind anyone else of the first drops on the new B&M wing coasters?
Pretty similar
I tot this only exist in RCT3

Sure go for it.
Why is there no pipeline coaster.
They found cracks in the support stucture so they just abondend the idea also they found it boring
1. financial problems
2. the failure of drachen fire
3. B&M
Togo also built one with less intensity
And also didn't age that well either

Wish this concept would have come to fruition, even if it does seem a little janky and GP.
It could have been a fun ride type if done right.
Seems kinda dangerous for hands and heads...
I dont get why this had modern supports butbthe actual coasters they built were using old shitty supports.
What was shitty about them?
was that chris rock?!? lol
As cool as this is, it's pretty gp
Its an official TV special so of course is GP lol.

boring
