    I'm rather confused by the last treat - a bite it taken but then the next clip is you holding a different chocolate treat that you tried earlier whimsy sing ignition so...you never reviewed the final and most interesting looking treat?

    That powdery grit from the soft jellies (green tea and orange) is because they're made from red bean paste, which is often not very refined. Takes some getting used to.

    'Hard Tack' is also known as 'Ship's Biscuit'. A very hard biscuit made to last almost forever on old sailing vessels. Often eaten when full of wildlife. I'm saying no more. If you live near Bristol, as I think you do, then you can check this up on their maritime museum website.

  • @Arrowdodger
    @Arrowdodger 9 лет назад +1

    That yellow wrapped thing, the gelatinous one, appears to be red bean stuff. I think it's sometimes eaten as-is, but is often added to foods, since some find it cloying on its own. I could very well be wrong, but I recall SimonandMartina(Eat Your Kimchi, popular Canadians who live in South Korea) trying something similar years ago. Hope that is helpful.

    The first things in the video can be found at import stores in the U.S. under the name "Meiji Cosomi Cookie Crackers". That description is pretty accurate. As for the other things, I've no idea.

    We also have most of those snacks here in Sydney! The last snack is a copied version of the ChocoPie by the company Lotte. If there's any Korean groceries near you, it's pretty much a guarantee you'll find the ChocoPie snack there. Try look around or research to find a Korean grocery near you, I'm sure they will have a humongous amount of snacks in there.

    The soft jelly are kinda like tea cakes. The more popular ones are made of chestnut or red beans but I think the two you have is green tea and I can't tell which one the orange one is. The "yeast barley hard tack" is a failed attempt to translate lol. They're basically fermented barley snacks and yes, they are very dry. These are very commonly eaten in the military because it is very filling (I heard). They're called "Gun-ppang" which literally translates into dry bread

    'Hard Tack' is also known as 'Ship's biscuit'. Very, very hard indeed. Almost indestructible. On long sea voyages, it would often be crawling with weevils, maggots, and mealworms. Nice.

    The gello things are made from red beans. Ginseng maybe not that delicious but really healthy, so even U don't like it eat some from time to time. Marry Poppins crackers I like them so much :). And the last one that looked like flower not my fav one :)
    I work in Korean company so i taste those treats pretty often:) Try some more different ones :) I am sure that U will find ones that will became one of Your fav treats :)
    Greetings from Poland :)

    Your holding the the snacks upside down at 2:28 They say 영양갱. The orange one was probably red bean paste and very sweet. The guy on the package at 6:38 was probably pounding glutinous rice for rice cakes. That is the traditional way of making glutinous rice cakes. The traditional Japanese way of making Mochi is similar. That one is called Jukipie. Really 파이 spells pie in Hanggeul.

    Hello Barry! I am sure someone has already has better translations and more info on what this stuff is, but here is my info. That cookie biscuit thing you tried oddly enough my parents just bought a box from the Korean grocery store near us (named Lotte, two different companies though) and they are called Cosomi and yeah, I love them. Fun fact, a South Korean company had a small factory in North Korea to help the people there by giving them a job and sometimes Korean treats, the chocolate pies being one of them. Then, the North Korean government confiscated them and they are now a black market item there. That first Lotte thing you had in that gold wrapper is red bean paste jelly, I personally love it, very healthy stuff. Also, I think Lotte is pronounced (not the best at showing things like this are pronounced btw) Lowtay, I think anyway. Also, I wish some of the stuff you had was in there store I usually see! Those sunflower seed M&Ms look great, hardtac is a great survival food, it lasts forever, and those chocolate Pocky like things look great! So, there is some info for you.
