Batman doesn't want to become like his parents killers, he's there to bring justice not to become a murderer like the people who killed his parents so he has a fair reason not to kill. He isn't the judge jury or executioner, he doesn't want to decide when people's lives may end. If he kills anyone, then he's lost because the person he killed made Batman kill him and Batman doesn't want to be controlled into killing someone just like joker did in the dark night when he made two face evil and two face pretty much forced Batman to kill him because if Batman didn't then the kid would have died, that's what you call the villains making the choice and controlling Batman and making Batman do things he doesn't want to do such as killing them. Batman doesn't want to be made into killing people, he doesn't want the villains forcing him to kill them because then he's lost because the villains made him make that choice and Batman wants to make his own choices

The weirdest part of this is when the older man mentions examples of Batman's villains and brings up Mad Hatter. I know that Peacemaker is going to transition over into the new DCU, but I can't even imagine the DCEU Batman having Mad Hatter as a villain unless he brutally beat him to death. That's honestly what makes the conversation even funnier.
He has a point. Some villains can be rehabilitated. Joker can not, mainly cause the writers won't bother replacing him.
You can get away with using Joker. He problem is ever since Killing Joke, the writers just keep trying to one-up his brutality and shock value. Modern Joker is just shock value and nothing else. No one ever brings up the “No-killing” with Riddler, Two-Face, Bane, or even Ra’s Al Ghul, who’s an immortal terrorist constantly trying to kill 90% of the Earth’s population. It’s just with Joker, cause they keep doing such horrific things with him it’s hard to justify his existence anymore. Joker doesn’t need to revert back to Caesar Romero, but he does need to be toned down a bit.
@@Linklex7You have a great point! And what makes it even worse is that the writers make other characters wanting Joker dead, and Batman refusing, sometimes Batman even saves Joker from other people. This makes Batman look bad.
I agree with you, if Joker was just a normal villain like the others we wouldn't have this stupid debate among fans.

This scene explains James Gunn feelings about Batman perfectly after being exposed for calling Keatons Batman trash.
Which doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, because we all know Keaton’s Batman wasn’t really a saint when it came to criminals. If he were talking about the Batman from the Injustice storyline, Under the Red Hood, or even the Arkham games, that would make a lot more sense.
He’s speaking facts tho ngl😂 John is nailing this character
Batman makes it a point that he's not the Judge, Jury and Executioner. He puts trust in the system and wants proper due process instead of committing mass murder. The villains escaping from Arkham Asylum isn't his fault. And the villains aren't escaping every other week. It's a meme. There's time in between unless they're incarcerated in the middle of a story/arc.
And also Batman knows he's unhinged. He knows if he kills one man, he'll start to compromise and kill another and another and another and he won't stop. Hence why fans hate it when Bats straight up kills a bunch of dudes in the films. Keaton included.
He trusts the system but he is a vigilante. What an oxymoron...
Why doesn't Wayne Enterprises spend some money developing a prison that actually works.
@@benitokamelas7758 He trusts the system to judge those he apprehends fairly and deal apt punishment/rehabilitation.

To be fair, that’s more the government being incompetent and the writers being lazy and wanting to recycle villains being at fault than Batman. If a criminal gets caught by a police officer and escapes later, we don’t blame the police officer for not killing the criminal previously.
Except government is doing all this on purpose
Exactly
Exactly. People say a lot about Batman's no kill rule and how it would endanger more lives when the villains escape like they always do, but forget about how realistically without writer BS, those criminals would get the death penalty easily or at the very least escape from life sentence and THEN get a worse sentence and Batman wouldn't have to worry about escapees. I highly recommend Batfeed's Batman 1919 and 1889 videos for a more realistic (and gothic) take on Batman and his villains where they pretty much stay locked up most of the time

Woah Peacemaker calm down buddy, calm down💀💀💀😂😂😂😂
This show was so hilarious that sometimes I wish I could get the whole thing out of my head and rewatch it again
Let’s be real here, if Batman started killing off his villains, the writers would have to either bring them back from the dead and repeat the process again, which they’ve already done, or make entirely new villains that may never be as recognizable as the old ones. That’s the REAL truth about why Batman and other heroes barely kill off these monsters.
No
Yep. Lol, no villains, no money
stories without endings all eventually suck.
Not quite--Batman swore off using guns and killing in "Batman" #1. Joker debuted in that issue, but it wasn't until later that he was made a recurring villain.
@@davidfoster8318 No the OP is correct.
The real reason is about the economics of comic books. They need to keep making more stories every month. And the oldest villains tend to be the most popular, so they can’t kill them, or they have to bring them back.
Trying to associate real world stuff with this dynamic, is missing the gorilla in the room. Which is about comic book industry economics.
Now, you can certainly also analyze it from within the conceit of the comic book universe. But you should acknowledge the real world reasons first.
Because I very often nowadays see people trying to demand real life police act like these fictional characters, when it makes no sense in real life. Especially as real life cops don’t have plot armor.
This show truly is a masterpiece, we need to cherish it while it lasts.
Also, its only 4 episodes in(so far) and we`ve peeled so many layers to Peacemaker`s character, played to perfection by John Cena. I love how frustrated he gets explaining to the old guy why Batmans approach, whos obviously loved by many, to crimefighting is totally flawed. Whereas Peacemaker, who is hated by nearly everybody, really does have good intensions of ridding the world of evil. He just had the rotten luck of having such a shitty mentor in his abusive father
I think it's because the world needs both kinds of men. Peacemaker has the flaw of not understanding why it's important to have men who refuse to kill, who have a line in the sand they draw and say, "I won't cross this line no matter what." Peacemaker will cross that line. He has no issues with it. And thats why he becomes the villain in suicide squad. Because he not only allows compromise, but has built it into his very essence as a person.
Batman would never become the villain, because he does not compromise.
But likewise, ever tried accomplishing something in a group setting without being willing to compromise? You'll get about as much accomplished as a chick with Parkinsons trying to give a handjob with her left hand, and pour a glass of wine with her right; theres gonna be a big mess, and either no one's happy, or only one guy is.
Also I think in the future he needs more screen time together with vigilante. Other characters just take too much screen time for no reason.

The most canonical reason Batman doesn’t kill is because he knows he’s unhinged af, & he knows if he starts killing he’ll never stop. This especially displayed in the Dark Nights Metal series, where there are several alternate versions of Batman that started out killing villains, but took it too far & became evil versions of themselves, such as The Grim Knight.
That’s the Dark Multiverse. It doesn’t mean shit LOL.
Same things happened in Main Universes and none of the shit happened. Batman Earth 0 was sprayed with the same toxins and he tried to kill Batman Who Laughs instead and still kept his head together. Batman was a fear lantern several times and didn’t kill. He got Superman and WW powers several times and at worst was him trying to kill villains.
@@cunnyman
The Batman Who Laughs nor the toxin has absolutely anything to do with what I said, & I in fact never even mentioned that. Not sure where you are rabbit trailing off to 🤷♂️ .
I was saying most if not all versions of Batman that started killing people ended up becoming evil, which is in fact true in comic lore.
But why do he have to protect those villains? 😂😂😂. He doesn't want to be killer? Then stay the fuck off from others way. Jason tried to kill joker, then there is joker's girlfriend batman to protect him. And put him in jail and even the court doesn't immediately kill off a serial killer like joker. Then he breaks out and kills more the loop happens.
@@cynicanarchist4923 That's because of how the legal system works. The majority of Batman's Rogues Gallery suffer from some degree of insanity, and that's especially true for The Joker, and with how the legal system works, if a lawyer can prove that a certain criminal qualifies as "insane" in legal terms, then it becomes much harder to give them a sentence like the Death Penalty, and instead they have to be sent to a psychiatric facility for treatment until they are deemed to be "competent" to stand trial.
The most important factor, legally, is whether the criminal in question was sane enough to understand that what they were doing was wrong at the time of the crime (this is why a "crime of passion" is something that can figure into such cases, it can sometimes be considered a form of temporary insanity), and if there was any premeditation involved. Now, in Joker's case, even in spite of his obvious insanity, he likely would still be deemed to be mentally competent enough to stand trial (or that any attempts to reform him with psychiatric care would be futile), and thus be eligible for the death penalty, at least in real life. But since Joker is Batman's arch-nemesis, DC can't exactly just kill off Joker and keep him dead. Joker's interactions with Batman are part of what makes Batman such a popular character.
Also, one of Bruce's most important character traits is how much respect he has for the value of human life. That's why he never kills. He refuses to become Judge, Jury, and Executioner. And that's exactly why he also tried to stop Jason from killing Joker, because he doesn't want Jason to start down that same slippery slope either. He wants Jason to be "better" than the villains he goes after (and even Bruce himself), rather than stooping to their level, which is what Jason actually does. And I suspect that in part, Bruce is also afraid that Jason may someday cross the line and turn into a Villain himself.
@@cunnyman I mean most of the multiverse batman were he kills he's evil not all but most

In a skit from Robot Chicken, Batman said he vowed to let the courts do their work. This is then followed by him giving them a persuasive testimony that allowed them to give the Joker the death penalty. Why can't the courts in DC comics/shows/movies do that because lets face it, when it comes to the Joker, they should've already gotten a testimony that would permit them to do that? Why are the courts in the actual source more incompete than the one in a parody?

@ Congratulations, you live by one of the fundamental reasons why our society is so ass backwards and is rapidly decaying before our eyes 👀 Do you think the people who built this country-hell even the world as we know it-just 'did whatever makes them happy'? "What is right, what is wrong," Europe and America essentially owe their entire existence to Christianity, which influenced (and in many cases directly lead to the birth of) virtually everything, laws/governmental structure/morals/societal norms and human behavior in general/art/literature-story writing and themes/movies and almost countless other facets of life, point being *for the most part* we as humans know "what is right-what is wrong".. That's why (most people) we don't murder people, or constantly steal and lie, or hurt children, it's why we obey and listen to our parents and respect elders, that's why we hold doors open for people or let someone turn at a green light, it's why we take up responsibility and provide for our family, along with an endless sea of other examples.
Now, instead of a system of set-literally tried and true for a few hundred years at least in general (especially in regards to thing's like not murdering people/thieving/art)-moral beliefs, an instilled obligation for responsibility (i.e. having a job/providing for X/starting a family) etc, it's "do whatever makes you happy," and you're far from the only person living by that 'rule'. Your teenage son wants to take hormone blockers and get vehemently unnatural-life altering-surgery to be a "girl"? Fuck it if it makes his undeveloped brain happy 😁 Wanna not have a job and leech unemployment/welfare or 'COVID benefits'? Fuck it if it makes YOU happy 👍 You see a guy drop his wallet in Starbucks, but want the contents of it? Eh fuck it, so long as you're happy 😊
TL;DR So if you're being completely serious, I genuinely can't imagine a more selfish-petulant-childish 'life style' 🥴
@@CommanderLongJohn then in that case, America owes ALL of its problems to, you guessed it, Christians. Why? Man has a point. After so many hundreds, if not thousands, of deaths at the hands of the Joker, when do you draw the line. He can’t be redeem, rehabilitated or cured in any way. He’s a force of death and chaos. There’s no solving his problem. If Batman, hell if the Gotham court system, had any sense they’d have put down the clown YEARS ago.
There actually was a comic where Martian Manhunter briefly cured Joker with his telepathy so they could get info out of him. He was horrified at what he had done and asked to die, but they didn’t and when Martian Manhunter stopped the telepathy he returned to normal.

i don't get why people say put down like they are really the kings of law, like as if gordon doesn't have to follow the law as well as batman, they still have to follow some laws if they plan on doing good, no matter if they know they'll escape or not, that's the burden the batman has to deal with, but then people like to rub it in his face that he's villains escape again, but that's what he has to deal with i guess too, because the price of peace isn't a overnight thing...but some people want it to be. He knows he's mother and father wouldn't want him to kill criminals because it would corrupt he's soul. You know why? Killing a human life is hard it will take a toll on you mentally one of the reasons why cops suffer from PTSD. TBH its a double edge sword. Let's say you killed a serial killer in order of self defence at the same time you did good you killed a serial killer that did wrong but it will take a toll on you mentally because you've never killed someone and could stay with you for the rest of your life. I think that's what Batman means its just too difficult taking a human life but sometimes it is necessary for survival so I agree with Peacemaker and the Batman it depends on the situation.

well, to be fair. It's more like Gotham's laws are really fucking stupid to not have given Joker and everyone else in Batman's Rouges gallery the death penalty for the amount of people they killed. Probably why Gotham is such a shit hole to live in with 100% crime everywhere and literally a place called "Crime alley" just to the side of a theatre lol.
See, I agree with more with Wonder Woman, who falls somewhere in the middle of this debate. Her code is:
*“Don’t kill if you can wound, don’t wound if you can subdue, don’t subdue if you can pacify, and don’t raise your hand at all until you’ve first extended it”*
Thus, she doesn't use killing as a first resort, but she isn't afraid to do it if the situation calls for it. Her code isn't straight-up heartless the way Peacemaker's is, but it also isn't as short-sightedly idealistic as Batman's. I'm someone who believes lives aren't ours to take, _but_ I think her code infuses both compassion and realism into a reasonable moral principle that suits a world where aliens and super-powered serial killers exist.
Wonder Woman is super violent and she was trained to kill Batman code is he values human life and his psyche doesn’t allow him to go there
"Don't kill if you can wound" can be taken as only kill on self defense if it's the only option available to you. Which even Batman or Superman would do if the plot allowed it.
No one would ever be mad at them, or another person, for killing someone in defense. The thing is Batman, Superman Wonder Woman don't HAVE TO kill. They can choose to wound or subdue. Their power required more responsibility.
Also, Aquaman won't hesitate to put his trident through someone's skull if he has to.
except everytime I kept cheating as a last resort for my tests I always ended up using unfair means
I think The Dark Knight did Batman best, he kills Two-Face at the end to save a kid, showing he's not as insanely idealistic as you might think. In my opinion, that's his limit. He won't let a kid die if he can do something about it, even then I don't think he's trying to kill Harvey, it just happens too fast for him to keep up. Sometimes comic writers take him way too far, I recall an issue in Tom King's Batman where Joker takes himself as hostage by putting a gun to his head and demanding Batman do things, and Batman does them. That's way too far, I think he would just call Joker on his bluff and let him shoot if he wanted to. And that's the thing about Batman, different writers have wrote him differently for 80 years, there's no one Batman we can morally debate on, but multiple versions that require multiple debates.
The simple suitcase drop was perfect
I agree. If they're dead they can't comeback and create more havoc. That was an Iron Man vs Batman and Superman conversation in the Hero's Diner at the of an HISHE short.

@@brianweyne5723 yeah Superman death change him also when he was first starting out as Batman he didn’t kill.
Batman in the DCEU wasn't bataranging thugs in the jugular though, even when it would expedient. Not saying Batman hadn't gone down a too dark path but he wasn't the Punisher.
@@brianweyne5723 He didn't do anything after justice league. He never stopped killing.
The only reason why Batman doesn’t kill is because the writers and publishers turned him into a family friendly hero in order to sell more toys to kids, simple.
Batman was created by Bob Kane, the first comic was released in 1939. Batman’s first kill occurred in the same year -1939.
It’s in Batman’s DNA to kill.
If anyone understands the character down to the core it’s the creator.

I guess ignorance is bliss after all.
A true batman fan understands that Batman killing is INEVITABLE!
I've always thought the same thing, although I understand from a storytelling perspective why they do it. Whether Batman wants to follow the justice system or not, he has to admit that putting mass murderers in an easily escapable prison is pointless, at best.
it's not easily escapable so much as it is they have superpowers and the writers want to recycle them rather than keep coming up with new ones.
