Bir dalda iki kiraz biri al biri beyaz
Eğer beni seversen mektubunu sıkça yaz
Sallasana sallasana mendilini
Sallasana sallasana mendilini
Akşam oldu göndersene sevdiğimi
Bir dalda iki elma birin al birin alma
Alnına yazılmışım, ister al; ister alma

11 years ago at Istanbul with my Turkish girlfriend they played this song when they learned I am Greek in a restaurant with live music and they were all telling me to get up and dance zeybekiko. Finally I danced a combination of original Turkish zeybek dance (movements of the hawk bird) and the Greek edition (which I think is based on traditional old Rum dances of western Asia Minor)
Zeybeks has nothing to do with the ottomans- Turkish.
@@knuknarot Zeybek is Turkish, the original Zeybek is played in Turkey, not Greece.

@@diofromyozgat However, according to other sources, mostly Greek, the Zeybeks were of Greek origin.[7] According to Greek historian Kostas B. Spanos, the Zeybeks were Greeks who migrated from Thrace and settled in Bursa, Aydin and Sakarya.[7] They were Islamized but not Turkified.[7] According to another Greek historian, Georgios Skalieris, they were of Greek and Phrygo-Pelasgian descent.[8] Greek historian Thomas Korovinis, in his detailed study of the Zeybeks, summarizes 7 of the main theories on their origins.[9] These posit that the Zeybeks are the descendants of:[9]

@@knuknarot yes, according to "greek" sources lmao, their clothes are Turkish, their traditions are Turkish, their names are Turkish. Even YOU greeks used to call it "Turkikos". btw Zeybeks are not from Bursa and Sakarya, they are mainly from Muğla, Aydın, Denizli, Manisa, İzmir, Afyon and Kütahya. The original Zeybek dance is Turkish, your "zeibekko" is greekfied version of them.

Turkey is a huge country compared to Greece. Only the West Anatolian and North Anatolian Turks look like Greeks or Italians.

Central Asian Turkish melodies in early Ottoman music 15-18. century Persian melodies and then French influences are found. This music you listen to has emerged in regions where the majority of them are Greek, it would not be right to attribute it to the entire Ottoman Empire.
It kinda sounds like argentinian tango or mexican danzón in some parts. A very nice song
"Rempetiko" was born in Piraeus and US (yes! USA) by Greek refugees from Asia Minor, by using some traditional sounds created by Greek community (every community in Ottoman Empire had its own culture) of Asia Minor. This song is not Turkish culture, it is a Greek (ottoman period) culture, and more specific of Greeks that lived in that area and not e.g. from Greeks that lived in Peloponnese-these Greeks had "other" sounds. This song is not "remperiko", it is before, it is a "traditional song of the Greek community that lived in Asia Minor in the late Ottoman Period"
Rembetiko is a rebellion music. Against both Turkey and Greece. Turkey expelled them from their homeland and Greece did not embrace them. Greeks accused them of Turkish seeds and treated them as immigrants. They have lived as immigrants in Greece for decades. And Rembetiko is an artistic, humane revolt music.
It influences from both cultures in the music. Saying that this is Greek and this is Turkish is proof that you are an utter ignorant idiot. Nothing is pure just one thing. If you want pure than go back to the Stone Age.
