I have the BWoody and man it makes my supercharger whine very loud and beautiful...whether I gain HP or not don't matter, that sweet sweet supercharger sound is what I'm paying for! One of the best parts is when I hit the gas pedal and the people walking on the sidewalks take off running scared because they think a jet is coming down the street!
Nice choice Speedy! The carbon fiber inlet makes more sense for heat dissipation. I have an LMI on mine and I found out when going WOT the torque of the motor will make the Carbon inlet touch the heat shield and scratch the carbon fiber inlet. I took mine off for a little bit then I added a Rubber spacer to lift the heat Shield so it won’t Touch the inlet. 💪🏼👍😎
Buy a turbo guard for it for track days..I also bought the JLT rain guard for the vent. They sell the clear piece separately. I don't run the LMI shield either and I dremelled off the stock mounting point for a clean look.
Thanks for the mention! That was my theory behind testing the intakes at the track . SRT did a fantastic job designing the air box for a STOCK engine . But once you are past a certain point It would not supply enough volume of air . SRT changed the intake system on the demon and redeye for a reason . I too noticed more throttle response and when switching back to back at the track I really noticed a difference on the big end of the track ( and my time slips reflect it) Btw I keep the cover in the netting pocket of my rear seat delete just in case I get caught out in the rain . I also use the prefilter when street driving but remove it at the track .
@@SpeedysGarage I'm waiting to see your track results . I believe it will help a lot of people . Essentially when 2 different people do similar testing without agenda. On my. Car it was only 1-2 mph at the 1/8 mile marker . But after the the aftermarket CAI really starts making the difference. I suspect you will see similar results . I used my MPH as the main point of reference because traction issues can really skew your ET's
Congratulations to your beautiful wife, really nice install, the only thing that might bug me is the hole in the front of the fender well for stock challenger air boxes, it almost needs a factory looking plug or something, but that’s just me lol, thanks for the video 👍😁
Good choice. Ive had LMI's on both my hellcat chally and my trackhawk i love em. I can run my trackhawk hard pop the hood lay my hand on the intake and notice its not hot at all. And yes the sound is amazing!
Sounds great. This might have been a good time to drive it with the cover on and then drive it again with it off to show the difference. I don't think it will be near as loud with the cover on. Although it will be louder than with a box.
@@SpeedysGarage i wish some1 knew and could prove what this will do for a stock hellcat. A lotta he say she say makes it confusing to purchase, and I dont want to waste money.
Nice video as usually Jay. Love the sound of the supercharger. The filter looks like an S&B. OBTW - A cheap cleaner alternative to the K&N type cleaner is Wesly's Bleach White (now Black Magic).
It reminds me back in the day everyone was flipping the lid of the air cleaner. It made you think it was more powerful. But the only thing you actually got was just more aggressive sound from your carburetor
Making it look easy. Trying to get that intake maneuvered so you’re not rubbing the a/c lines while also being able to put the plate on is a pain in the ass
@@SpeedysGarage I have to admit letting my filter go for far too long before I finally pulled it out and cleaned it, simply because i didn’t want to have to go through the fine tuning again lol
Hey Speedy, I was curious as to if you ever got any quality data on this intake or the jlt versus the stock intake at the drag strip. Also, did you notice any kPa variance when data logging? Just curious, wanting to see if your data corroborates mine
It's not really worth doing too much performance research honestly. The stock intake works very well with stock filter, or upgraded filter, these CAI mainly help modified cars "a bit". 20rwhp max and you're likely not gonna feel that on a 700 plus rwhp car. I went for the one I liked the fit and finish on the most.
Pre filter you discussed, water repellent. The big name brand is Outerwears, and is where Legmakers get theirs from and charge $40 for. If you have the part number, or link or something, that would be great. Thanks.
Pre- Filter came in today from Outerwears. I opened it, looks close, but will not have a chance to verify till the weekend. Stay tuned :-) If it does not fit, I know the second one I order will. All about the wonderfulness of that company's website. Punch in some numbers, and it gives you back a part number ;-)
Question for ya Speedy, and maybe this is splitting hairs, but wouldn't the LMI without the heatshield cause some turbulence right above the air filter? Meaning the area above the filter is a low pressure area that Mopar designed so that the heat extractors on the hood could help dissipate engine heat while traveling down the road. The faster you go the more this low pressure area is working to do that function. Do you think the LMI without the heatshield is a good idea? Is there any logs in HPTuners that could verify this? Not sure what PID you would need to look at, maybe the MAF readings with and without the shield?
That's probably overthinking it. My thinking is that the low pressure above the filter will just magnify the cool air being drawn across the filter through the hole in the headlight especially at speed. Worst case it pulls cold air from the vent in the hood.
Speedy's Garage Ehh hard to say what I feel like laminar flow across that area is really like but I would love to see some supporting data on this. I’m thinking of getting an LMI for my car once I mod it. I will look more into this.
Whoa you were my go to guy for the stock airbox 🤔 Aren't you worried about IAT temps? Anxiously await your track results. As always your opinion on Hellcats matters. 👍
The IAT(inlet air temperature). Drops rapidly. In one of my logs I started the run around 118F and by the end of the run it was 91F (ambient was 90F) what I wanted to compare was MAT ( manifold air temperature). But my logs got messed up and it deleted a bunch of my channels .
Don’t care for the the BIG ego of the owner.I Met him at a car show and he told me for about 20 mins that his product would make MORE hp then my BWoody on my 411 Stroker motor because his tube was tapered and would force more air which would create more hp. 🤨
@@SpeedysGarage by keeping engine heat out ,air is going to come from wherever theres least resistance ,it would rather come from that huge ass opening on top than through the headlight snorkles ,unless its sealed to the hood and getting cold air through the ram air ducts .the whole purpose is getting rid of underhood hot air and not inhaling it through the intake ,Id want all the fresh cold chilly air I can get
Glad to see you got one. I’ve had one for a couple years and I love it. You will be pleased.
I love my LMI intake. Lets all the whine out.

I’ve run mine with and without the shield. I like it so much better without it.
Does it sound different
Getting mine soon! Can’t wait!
The charger airbox is pretty much the same. Chargers have an open space on the airbox behind the headlight.

Great video review Speedy! There is definitely a MPH increase between stock and Legmaker in 1/2mi racing.
How if the engine isn't tuned for it?
put the shield on looks way better. on the Charger it actually fits flush.

I have a Bwoody and love the sound of it and your LMI. Question could you ask your friend what the part number of the Demon supercharger is?
I see you had the jlt. And the leg maker. Have you noticed any heat soaking from the leg maker since it’s basically sucking in all the engine bay heat
I couldn't tell much difference in the logs to be honest.
@@SpeedysGarage nice I wasn’t expecting that
FYI - the Redeye filter is not open end like the Demon crate filter. I replaced my Redeye filter with a Demon crate open end filter.
Huh? Both Demon stock and crate filters are closed ended.

I was wondering why you haven’t installed a oil catch can ? Are they useless on the Hellcat?
Did you get good IAT with this intake ? Most people say that the LMI intake is perfect for more supercharger whine but no so much for cool IATS
Nice video, thanks Speedy. What's funny is I am GomanGo392...lol
Fellow Go Man Go challenger owner here.. what seat delete kit you using?
Factory.
Do you daily drive/race with that bypass cover? I was told not to.
Indeed. I put some 3M tape on the edges and it wont' come off if I try.
Do you think there is any benefit to popping out the passenger side headlight cap? More air good? Thanks.
I don't think so.

IATs would be lower I believe. The track testing James did was compelling but I'll find out on my car soon.

You have to get a gasket or it rubs like a bitch
open air filter does nothing but bring more hot air into the engine
What was you IAT before and after?
Good and gooder LOL. See James' comments below on his results at the track. An almost 30 degree drop.

Id leave the shield on it You really want to avoid as much underhood air as you can, its called a COLD air intake for a reason
Not sure how the shield would impact air temps.

That big heavy plate completely negates the carbon fiber tube, toss it in the trash.
If its dissipates heat quickly it gaines heat quickly too
The real gain from Jlt cold intake is 1 hp
Not sure about your one
I don't really care about HP. I'm more interested in track times.
+1 and thats it? How do you know this?
