I had been searching yt for days to find where the fsm was located on a command thrust 115 . After taking the lower cowl off I saw it. I searched for the part number on the fsm and that lead me here. Thank you very much for this detailed how to service this fsm.
What is the fuel pressure supposed to be on this engine?
Around 45 PSI
I like the way you do your videos. Thanks and I can hear them.
Thank you!
Hi, I'm a follower on your channel. I love the content you post and I recommend it to many people because of that video, and the fuel pump was replaced, as well as light, everything worked perfectly for five months. After five months, the Mercury 150 engine started. to have the same fault, you would consider that the pump may have been damaged a second time and have another cause in the damage thank You
Great work sharing the know how and expertise with boats
Thank you!
I cant believe I missed this one, this is great stuff !!! lol
More to come!
Would love to learn how to test coils and injectors, also shreader valve pressure, high low,and air.you are the best we have seen
There's a lot going on there lol
Love the video and the corney jokes!! Lol...
My 2012 Merc 115 4 stroke needs one. Stuck in the shop with part on BO.
Interesting to see what the job entails. I could NEVER do it, haha. Oh well....
Thank you so much for this video. It really helped with my fsm.
Glad it helped!
What a pain in the a** getting it back together though. I had super lube for the o rings did not use moly lube. The boat place I took it to previously had pinched an o ring causing my fuel leak. Never going back there 😃
Great Vid!! Just curious, on the 4:00 min. mark there are two small O-rings on your bench, a blue fluorocarbon and a black regular o-ring. I have found thru all the exploded views online that these are for the switch harness, but because they are both NSS they do not say which is which. Do you know in what position the Blue fluro o-ring goes, towards the switch connector or towards the fsm? Thanks for your time!
Ramiro: It's a sledgehammer.
2008 250 verado. Just put in new fuel tank aprox. 10 feet away. Will the pick up pump be enough or should I put in a pump at the the engine to help. Have to pump bulb to run.
Also having problem finding a knowledgable mech. in Eastern NC. I can't get full throttle.
I just got a 225 Verado is the fsm supposed shoot water out when flushing motor at the one open fitting ?
Aron thanks for replying to my question I have twin merc 2016-225-3.4L the don’t hold rpm if cruising @3600 or in that range they will vary from 3400-3800 I assumed it was the fsm so I attempted to rebuild it using you vid & directions I was wondering what is the procedure for bleeding air out of fuel rail? I was able to get fuel in the fsm then had wife put key in on position while I cracked/pushed the schrader valve did it about 3times both sides . motor fired up ran for a while then ran rough I squeezed primer ball it was a little soft & it smoothed out but watching the tach @ idle it would vary 540-600 but appears fine is that ok , haven’t sea trialed yet want to do starboard fsm , thank you for your help & awesome video they take a long time to do. 👊
Hey! No worries, hopefully you've figured this out by now, but should be good to go, 60RPM is a lot for some variance, but you really don't know without back pressure on the prop, and how long it ran for, it should have smoothed out after a few minutes of running.
I’ve been subscribed and watching your videos for a while they are great thank you for the help previously ask you a question I’ve got a 2016 mercury 225 V6 I know this is an older video, but I’ve been trying to re-search how to empty the fsm tank on mercury’s for winter storage, I used to be able to empty my Suzuki with a bleader is there any way to empty the FSM on mercs? Thanks for all the help and answering questions.👍 great job on podcast also
Hey! You can't empty the FSM on the Mercs, best thing to do is use a fuel stabilizer when you flush and fog, but you could also go to the airport and get a gallon or two of avgas which is aviation fuel, that has a shelf life of 2 years so you won't need to worry about it :)
Wow that seems complicated. I am a self taught outboard mechanic thanks to you and RUclips. But I don't think I am up to this level. I am currently a Suzuki owner and looking to repower with a new 175hp V6 Merc. But this video has me rethinking. Regardless of make, which outboard would you say is the best engineered in terms of ease of maintenance and accessibility to areas that are commonly serviced? Or most novice friendly... Thank you!!!
If you're buying brand new, then you can really go with any. Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki, they have all had a pretty good push over the last couple years to make the service portion of the engine a really user-friendly job. So it's basically up to you and your budget :)
@@BornAgainBoating THANK YOU!
I really like this video. The new style FSM in Verado 300 just a nightmare, every single seal ring o ring just stuck easily and very very tighten over time, my friend got one of this motor but only 1300 hours on it 2 years but the high-pressure fuel pump just stuck there. I didn't try to use a plier because it seems will break it, or it can?
Thank you, yes, you can always break something, but you should these can be difficult to get out and you can get them apart with some force.
@@BornAgainBoating I finally take all fuel pumps out with plier with no damage. But after all of this I found it may be the regulator failed by the vacuum host keep push out fuel and goes into the intake manifold then flooded the no.6 cylinder with gas.
Any suggestions about that tube? Is that a one-way tube to create a vacuum or just a normal gas tube? Or simply the regulator fails and get a new one for it?
Thanks!
We need a video on replacing thermostats on a Optimax
Just pull the fuel rail back and you'll be able to pull the housing and replace the stats
My motor has 3 years old mercury pro xs 115 i need to replace the orings? or is it just loose or worn out?
Would you repair a fuel sending module if shipped to you? I think I have clog somewhere due to old owner leaving bad gas in boat. Thanks great video
What are your symptoms? Did you get it resolved?
What was the steps to clean the housing seeing the material?
Spray it with contact cleaner and clean off all the dirt, sometimes you have to scrape the stuff off, but be careful not to scratch the surfaces
Great video!
Thank you! Let me know if you need any help with your Yami's!
where can i buy a rebuilt fsm for a 150 verado?
Why did you rebuild it in the first place?
What were the symptoms that let you know it was the fsm?
I’m having trouble when I accelerate this same motor. It idles and runs at low speeds ( around 10mph ) but starts surging soon after I increase the throttle. Always around the same time and distance once I accelerate.
Thanks
Not sure exactly, we do a lot of them with the bad fuel :/ best way is to check the fuel pressure and if its low, thats when you know!
Having the same issue I'm thinking my pressure regulator, what was wrong with yours?
@@agamakno17 mine ended up being a collapsed liner inside the gas hose. I never would have found it but I decided to replace the hoses ( after I spent a grand on new fuel pumps ). That’s when I found a connector joining the gas line to the tank and the gas line to the motor. It was there that the inner liner was crumpled by the connector. My advice is start with the simplest fixes first!!!
Do you have to prime the fsm or is it self priming.
"Ótimo trabalho"
Great job...
PONTA GROSSA city, Brasil.
Thank you!
what is the reason for the water lines in the fuel pump
Fuel coolers to cool down the fuel.
Can you please tell me if this is the same location on a 2015 115hp Mercury Four Stroke?
Ah ha! I figured it out, but you can see the location at the end of the video. Can you guys tell me if there is a video on your site about the pressure regulator? @born again boating
Hi. I have 2016 115hp EFI Mercury Outboard. I know the problem is in the FSM. Here are my symptoms. Fuel rail pressure is 35-38 psi. When I squeeze the bulb I can get up to 40 psi and no higher. At 1200 rpm it drops back down to 35 psi after about a minute. When I shut down the engine the pressure drops down to about 10 psi. What is the component that is bad? Oh. I removed the FSM and found no debris in the screens and test ran the pumps under no load and they both ran. I have only 95 hours on the engine. No codes detected. Can anyone please help?
Thanks
Either a weak high pressure pump, or the pressure regulator isn't working properly, maybe the reference line to it, or you aren't getting enough fuel, could be a bunch of different issues, hard to say which is the exact issue with all the variables there are here.
Wow that looks like a pain..lol
Why do the copper tubes corrode?
Great video!
That's just the down side of running in warm saltwater! :) Just happens :) Thank you!

what is FSM?
Looking at a fuel pump from a 30 year old evinrude, and wondering where it all went wrong. 🤦♂️
