It’s scary when you’re on the floor doing yoga and you see your cat hiding under your bed, with their pupils dilated, lookin like a shark, wiggling their butt because they’re about to pounce on ya. 😂 If you run you trigger their instinct to chase prey. So you have to just sit there and hope they remember not to scratch you. 😅
I heard that there’s a drug in the cat litter which contains some marijuana, maybe not but it’s a thought lol
You can tell when a cat is guilty, like if you show the cat something they destroyed they would refuse to look at it or as soon as the saw it run away and hide, or apparently for marm here, try to rub themselves against you try and make you forget about what they did

That's actually an inaccurate translation. The slow blink means "You are not a threat and I know you won't attack." This can be meant as an insult or a compliment, depending on how attached the cat is to whoever they slow-blink at.
It is a very good sign when attempting to bond with a cat, no matter how the cat intends it.

tjf4375 Actually, my childhood cat used to go up to the couch when the family was on it and start to claw it while looking to see if we noticed (we did). As soon as everyone turned to look at him, he stared us in the eyes for a second and ran off. He knew that clawing the couch was wrong but he just felt compelled to do it once a month or so.
Maybe he just wanted attention, but he definitely knew it was wrong - even though the only “punishment” was being told “no!”.
I think he felt guilty.

They are guilty just not about small things. Cats are rascally as well so it can be hard to tell. Once my cat accidentally scratched my sister when he was playing with her, and then he froze and started meowing! It was cute!

+Cole and Marmalade Actually there is such a thing as a guilty cat. Before my Shadow-Man passed in 2013 of old age, we knew when he did something he shouldn't because the moment he saw us, he'd run and hide and not come out, and he was very much my dad's 'puppy'. So when he poofed, we looked for whatever he could've done. Usually hair balls in shoes unfortunately.
+twsx I did have a cat who showed some guilt.... Sort of. He'd get up on the counter and jump down as soon as someone came in... Sometimes we would move too much and hear him jump down because he thought we were coming. :) But he was probably the exception to the rule.... That cat was the exception to a LOT of rules....

There are a lot of cute famous cats online, but I just can't get over Marmalade's big eyes and adorable face. Baby Marmalade is too cute to describe. I'm not taking anything away from Cole. He's handsome and adorable. I have 4 cats and one of them is definitely the cutest. He knows it too.

No cat is ever guilty. Guilt is something that happens to other creatures.
My cat never exactly gets guilty but if I catch him sitting on my mums bed (she doesn't let him) he looks at me with wide eyes and runs off of the bed

My cat gets guilty actually, when he is he lays down and tries to cuddle me but still laying down when I come near, he's usually pretty energized.

A cat can sense when something isn't right. Jay knew my dad was not well when he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and would cry at him usually before he would have to go to the hospital. There was one time after the diagnosis when Jay just stared and cried at him during what we thought was a case of low blood sugar. It turned out to be a gallbladder attack and my dad had to be rushed to the hospital to have it removed. He also knew when the end was near, Jay would not leave my dad alone for several days before the final hospital visit and finally left his side when we called in the ambulance. On the day when my dad passed away, Jay wouldn't leave my side and only let me go when I went to the hospital with my mom to visit my dad. He then stayed with me when I returned home and didn't leave until we got the call that he died in his sleep. I'm grateful to my cat for being a comfort to all of us during that difficult time.

I ve cought her many times looking herself and when i pass behind and wave my her she turns back! So she knows she is watching a reflecting surface. Cats do many lovely things!!! Of course cats feel guilty. it's that they get over it in less than a second. Marmalade did his best rub on the lady directly as an act of appeasement. They rarely apologize, though.
I don't think I have ever seen a guilty cat. None of my cats are guilty when they've done something wrong. Instead, they turn on the cute charm to try and get out of trouble... and they know it works every time.

If cats are naughty, there's always a reason for it. Sometimes it's a matter of boredom. They are a bit like children in that respect, I've found. Friends would have me care for their kitties for them during long absences sometimes. The kitties would cause a fuss almost every time unless I had enough playtime with them. Of course, define " enough" for cats!

Almost always, plants got ruined or something would be knocked down in the night. A few things even got broken. They fought and quarreled with each other, too.
And they would always test me by walking on the countertops! They went out of their way to get my attention. A water squirt bottle (aimed wherever - I found the behind got them to scoot faster) generally got their toes back onto the floor. But how to handle the nightly rampages?
PLAYTIMES. Every evening, I would need to play with them for about an hour. And then put all plants out of reach which would fit inside cupboards, etc.
:But did they show any signs of remorse? Only once in a while, especially if i got dismayed and would not talk to them and refused to pet them for a while. Then the guilt came out and they'd try and make up.

They keep an eye on you while running away with head down... beware of flying slippers! Body language cannot trick you... all other cat's emotions have been interpreted correctly ;o)

That's pure revenge... Everything is built in genes - situation can provoke appearance of proper symptoms....
+Tompea Hill It's not "revenge", it's insecurity. You tell them no, scold them, etc, and then they mark their territory. It also sounds like they may be acting out of lack of being given things to scratch or lack of having a perch in a socially significant area of the home. If you do not give your cat proper playtime it can get destructive as well. Cats do not understand which of your documents are important! It does however know, yes, that those are your slippers, although not your favorite ones... It marks them because it feels an insecurity towards you probably. Please educate yourself. I assume you are just trying to figure out the situation logically, but it is very important that we educate ourselves with information from sources like Jackson Galaxy (cat behavioralist) about our pets. Otherwise we personify our pets...
In short: ACTUALLY EDUCATE YOURSELF ON A TOPIC BEFORE COMMENTING!!!

No, there is no such thing as a guilty (feeling) cat. (There's often such a thing as a cat guilty of doing something. They just don't feel any remorse about it!)
