  • In this video, we explore the intricate emotional world of our beloved feline companions. Many cat owners often ponder questions like, "Does my cat dislike me?" or "What could be making my cat feel down?" It's essential to recognize that cats can indeed experience sadness and emotional distress, much akin to humans. This video directly addresses these concerns, delving into the top 10 factors that can cause emotional harm to your cat. From subtle signals indicating potential sadness to understanding whether cats cry, we cover a wide range of topics. It's not only about what actions we should take but also about avoiding behaviors that could distress your cat - the overarching theme being "what never to do to your cat." Our aim is to deepen your comprehension of your cat's emotional requirements and help you steer clear of common mistakes that might inadvertently hurt their feelings. 🐈
The video serves as an enlightening resource for all cat owners who contemplate questions like, "Can cats feel sadness?" or fret over their pet's emotional wellness. We dissect each of the 10 factors that could emotionally impact your cat, offering insights into how seemingly innocuous daily interactions or routines might affect your cat's psychological well-being. It's more than just a mere list; it's a comprehensive manual on deciphering the emotional cues of cats. Therefore, if you've ever found yourself worrying about your cat's emotions, wondering, "Is my cat feeling blue?" or "What are the emotional triggers for cats?" then this video is a must-see. Our objective is to nurture a deeper, more empathetic connection between you and your feline friend, ensuring a happier, healthier bond for both of you. 😻

@@amyberg9027 hundred percent, but just like with people :some people like a bit of physical contact, rough wrestling and play fighting. Some are intimidated by that and cats are the same. I’ve had a number of dogs and cats that actually love chasing me around have a rough wrestler scruff up, definitely not hurting them, but certainly not just gently patting them either - cats are actually quite a strong animal, both physically and emotionally. As long as they feel safe and understand the engagement.-my current cat sweetheart every day when I am home from work we rough wrestle Chase each other around and when she’s had enough she either walked away or if I’m holding her and giving her a scruff she just gives a single meow and that’s the signal we’ve developed and we stop and have a cuddle❤

I have many cats spread out between several homes. Many were found outside and have small issues due to neglect or abuse. #1 Lived in my yard when I bought the house. He is approximately 19 years old and lives inside now. #2 Found on a street corner in a pile of snow. His tail was broken. Had conjunctivitis and ear mites. Smelled horrible. He is now 10 and one of the most amazing cats I have ever met. #3 Abandoned near my parents' house. She has a pellet lodged in her neck, and her leg was broken. She is a beautiful loving cat at 5. #4 Adopted from a shelter. Super affectionate and playful. #5 Only surviving kitten to a stray cat. She is a syndactyl. She has a total of 12 toes. Biggest goofiest eyes you've ever seen. #6 Adopted from a shelter. She is special needs. She is deaf and a bit unstable with her balance. She's so sweet and loud. #7 Adopted from a shelter. Completely normal average cat. #'s 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 Pregnant stray cat that had a litter of 4. She is so tiny and sweet. The kittens are 6 months old now and doing great. #13 Stray cat near my parents. She is a handful. She's a good girl but a bit much for everyone else. I feel bad that she has trouble making friends. She's loud and aggressively friendly. It puts everyone on defense. #'s 14 and 15 An abandoned 2 year old mother and her 1 year old kitten. They are quiet and like to stay together away from everyone else. They have become very friendly and love to be held. Their meows sound like shoes squeaking on a wooden floor. It's quite cute. I am a cat nut. I can't help but care for them. They are wonderful critters that make my life better.

she was so special to me. Fortunately, 5 years ago my son gave me his cat as he was moving on. The two cats loved each other, never fighting and sharing the same food bowl Doobie my cat now is very close to me. He is around l5 years ago but I am not sure. The vet says he is very healthy and I hope to give the best life I can. I am a cat person and will always have a place in my life for a kitty who needs a home. He went from being a friendly outgoing beautiful boy to a nervous nellie and wouldn't interact with anyone but us. It was very distressing. He was like a totally different cat. You can be all "not necessarily", but it does happen definitely.

Our family loves cats and other pets ❤ . My son lives in his own flat. He has a Siberian cat called Olive. I knew Olive from the time my son bought her. Once when my son was going away on holiday, he left Olive with me in my home. At first Olive was anxious (I could imagine her feeling of abandonment) but soon Olive was coming into my bedroom and making sounds of anxiety. So I stroked her and began to play with her.soon she bonded with me and every day sought my attention. We became firmly attached. Now,when ever I visit my son’s flat,Olive greets me with purring sounds of affection.i love ❤️ her and will always visit her to solidify our relationship.x.

Re: moving furniture - I've noticed that cats are funny, they don't like it when their environment is changed, such as moving the furniture, BUT they also get easily bored! So i try to do small harmless changes that will keep them stimulated, but not stressed. I sometimes rotate their play tower so the the openings face a different direction, or replace a hard surface with a soft one (put a blanket or pillow on it) and interestingly, changing the lighting, for example in a room that gets a lot of light I'll close the curtains, or vice versa. Cats are endlessly fascinating creatures!

It is a combinaion of two Latin words
Ani - meaning soul (Anni - ( with two letter means Year / Annum / Annual ]
      Mal - means bad
      as in MALnutrition
      MALpractice
      MALfeasance
      MALadjusted
      MALady
      and so on
Thus AniMal means - ' Bad Soul ' - which is why we should not eat them

When we first got our cat Nico from a rescue he would always love to play with string then as time went on he would get bored of it faster and faster. I have bought countless toys for him to play with yet he has zero interest in them. Currently I have a feather caster and lazer pen which he sometimes goes for but not really for longer than 5 minutes then he walks off.
When he comes in my room and meows and lays down I go to stroke him. He loves it but then moves away after about 5 minutes. I go to him and he walks away again so I leave him be.
He has a lot of options where to sleep. He has a climbing frame with a small nook to go into. He LOVES my dad's bed when he puts a blanket on top. I turned a 1ft x2ft cardboard box upside down and made a pushable door for him with soft small mattress which he loves to hide in and I have begun work on building him a small outdoor house because when he comes home he doesn't always want to come inside straight away. He has this favourite corner he likes to chill for a bit first so I'm going to place it there for rainy days which will be raised off the ground to prevent the base rotting and getting too cold: It will be properly weather treated too : ]
I do worry he's bored but he's always super happy once he's let outside for a few hours and when he returns he's always rolling around looking at us giving the sweetest meow so I think he is happy.
Some cats are not that interested in playing with humans.

It broke my heart when I came to the realization that 1 of my cats developed jealousy over the attention I was giving the other cat. The jealous cat expressed its emotional hurt towards the other cat through biting behavior when I leave the room. This was totally unexpected, because I adopted two cats so they have each other for company while I'm away at work. They both remained friendly and loving to me, but the jealous cat is very mean to the other.😢

0I've had three cats in the last seven years that walk the dogs with me. I do not put them on a leash, as it was their idea to come on the walks. I think it has everything to do with Love. You did a phenomenal job with this video. After almost 2 decades in the veterinary field, you even caught things most don't (give a treat after laser play, etc), and THANK YOU for encouraging veterinary visits. 👏🏻
If you want unsolicited advice, adding that an extra litter box than cat can really help inter-cat aggression. This video was terrific though.

Not getting a treat immediately when it's demanding is definitely emotionally devastating to my cat. Or maybe not throwing her ball back to her the moment she brings it. (Yep, my cat is part dog because she loves playing fetch.) They hate the vacuum cleaner; so I always place it in the middle of the room for a few minutes before starting it so they have a chance to clear out before the noise starts. I love my companions; and can't imagine harming them either physically or emotionally.

If it's not your cat and it looks of a good weight do NOT let it in your home or feed it. I KNOW it's tempting but it could still be someone else's cat and you will cause undue worry to the owners.
I suspect this is what someone in our neighborhood does as rarely our cat will be gone for more than 6 hours at each release.
If you are unsure you can always take it to a vet to see if the cat is chipped. Ours is.
If the cat turns out to be unregistered then I guess all bets are off but there is also another thing to consider. The cat may have certain dietary requirements so certain foods or brands may not be good for them but if you see they look somewhat emaciated then sure feed them.
*Case in point:* The vast majority of wet cat food contains a thickening agent called Cassia Gum ( a slightly different name for American brands). On most packaging it's over 2800mg. If you do feed the cat then try to feed it with one which contains around 1350mg. Cassia Gum has been linked to cancer in some cats but the studies are not exactly conclusive.
We used to feed our cat Felix because we didn't know any better but then after I found out about Cassia Gum from Jackson Galaxy (what a LEGEND!) I started giving our cat _Sheba_ . He likes it A LOT more too. It's mid range pricing but I think you can't go cheap when it comes to pets. I once gave him _Gourmet_ which after looking at the packaging has ZERO Cassia Gum in in and quite a lot of good nutrients but that is one of the most top-tier priced foods.
Or even better, boil some chicken (don't add anything) then cut off the tendons and mash it up with your fingers to make sure you can't feel any hard boney parts. Don't let it go too cold because the juices from the chicken will evaporate quite quickly after some 4-8 hours. Always best to feed fresh as possible. Our cat Nico won't touch dry chicken but ADORES it 5 mins after it has been cooked :D
So it's up to you. Sorry for the overload : ]

I have been watching your videos about cats. And in one of the videos you asked for comments and I believe pictures of our fur babies. Well my roommate received two kittens from a friend of ours. They are her cats. But a few months after she got them, she had to travel for almost 8 months straight. So it left the cats in my care. During this time the female became pregnant. She had four kittens, one died with in three days of life. The other 3 have been growing strong. Well the female became pregnant again., which I didn't find out until a few weeks. After I had the male cat fixed. She had 5 kittens. So I went from 2 to 10 with in months. When the only male from the first litter became of age to be fixed I got him fixed. After the second litter was about a month old. My roommate came home. Then all of a sudden one of the kittens from the second litter got sick and died, by that time I had decided to make the cat's a wall of their own. A month after we lost Runtz, she decided to re-home the younger kittens. We went back to 5 cats. It was hard for me to pass over the mom roll to her when she got back , but I did. I try to stay out of the decision making with them, for a few reasons, she and I don't see eye to eye about what's best for them. Plus when I was taking care of them. I had spent my small nest egg I had to take care of them and having the males fixed. Here soon we will be going out separate ways. And not be roommates anymore. I'm not sure if where I'm going if i can have a pet or not. But I don't believe she will let me have one of them if I'm allowed. This makes me sad. We both love the cats very much. And they love us. Lately I have been noticing that one definitely of the kittens, female has been peeing in the tub, kitchen sink, the litter boxes, and on things of her's and under my bed. She doesn't have the money nor do I to take her to the veterinarian. Any ideas what the reason could be for this? I will try to send a photo of our babies. Nope doesn't look like I can.

    • @TheCuriousCatt
      @TheCuriousCatt  2 месяца назад

It sounds like you've been through a lot with those cats! Taking care of a sudden increase in the number of cats can indeed be challenging. As for the behavior of one of the kittens, urinating outside the litter box can be a sign of various issues, including stress, territorial marking, or medical problems like urinary tract infections. Since you mentioned not having the resources to take her to the vet, it's crucial to monitor her closely. You can try providing multiple litter boxes in different locations, using unscented litter, and keeping the litter boxes clean. Also, try to identify any potential stressors in her environment and address them if possible. If the behavior persists or worsens, seeking advice from a veterinarian or animal behaviorist would be best. 💜

    • @kimdaniel1771
      @kimdaniel1771 2 месяца назад +1

@@TheCuriousCatt we do have multiple litter boxes, yesterday I noticed that her sister has done the same thing, and both are in heat as well as mom. I'm glad I got the boys fixed. But yes I think it's bladder or UTI. I normally can pet their belly. Yesterday they would not have that. I think her boyfriend has been feeding them people food as well as her. I don't allow them to have people food. I have them on Iams and we jump around with the flavors. But any cat I have had in the past 15+ years has always been Iams. If we feed them anything different, we have many major problems, what would you recommend if we were to bring another brand to them to eat. ? And I should I tell her something she is doing i believe is harmful to them even though I'm not positive she is the one doing it. ? We have got into arguments almost fist fights over the cats. Thank for taking the time to read my comments.

This kind of clear suggestions to be better friends to our feline friends is so helpful. Maybe someone has connections to vet's and ask them to send it as a tip in their newsletter. They often appreciate to receive tips that are worth sharing.
    Let's spread the word.
I adopted Meisje in January 23. She is the funny, beautiful, loving AND free cat that chooses to live with me since then. She is 95% free to do as she likes.
Therefore she respects my boundaries like the kitchen counter and the fact that I do not particularly enjoy receiving dead leafs and mice.
It is so super easy to treat her with love. I get nothing but love in return.
Bonus tip: this approach might work for your loved ones as well. And yourself ;)

My current cat, and, well, all my past cats, must've been the exception to these 8 Rules. I immediately establish a dominance with my cat, each kitten knew I was their Alpha, not vice versa. Absolutely none of my cats ever repeated their mistake of which they were scolded for: jumping onto to kitchen counter, stepping into the kitchen area, begging for human food at any time we ate, using my furniture as a scratching post, posting up on my furniture to sleep all day, pooping and/or peeing on my floors or furniture. Each cat that I had actually waited for me to invite him or her onto the couch with me to curl up together for a cat nap. Right now, my old female feline is laying on my left side, touching my shoulder, as I type this. If its done right in the up bringing of your 'fur baby' (I hate that term) then your he or she child should be no different. Don't ever give either an inch until its deserved.

I love cats and have a cat now. She comes in n out. She even looks both ways when she crosses the street. I moved a year ago and my girl went thru all kinds changes, but just made a safe place for her. She was in the basement for a couple of days. Once I had my room set up and a cozy place for her and brought her up. She's fine now, except when our dog tries to come into our room. He knows better and she'll chase him out or goes under my bed. I know the signs of distressed animals. When I was 16 yrs old, my dad was out hunting and found a Great Horned Owl with a compound fracture of his wing. I lined up the bones and duct tape to hold it closed. It healed good and was able to use it, but I fed him too good. He got too heavy to fly, we had a cage fer when he felt threatened. We even let him outside to walk around whenever he wanted. He didn't try to leave or fly. When his wing healed, he did a dance spreading his wings. It freaked me out, until I realized he was showing me he was ok. My friends would bring mice to feed him. He would click his beak like smacking his lips. They brought him a rabbit one day. Which I cuddled up with on a couch. My parents said, he's owl food. I sat it on the floor and said ok Hoot. He dropped off his perch and his beak pierced it's brain, instant death. Then ate the brains like candy. That was terrifying, because he was a wild predator. Except Hoot never hurt anyone, I was the only one that could touch him. I pet him like a cat. Feathers felt like fur and affection was new to him. Knowing cat characteristics helped immensely. We found out they're protected bird. When fireman came in to check fer fire, the outside was set on fire by an arsonist. DNR came to take him and charged my parents for it, but the vet said he would've died. Also said, whomever set the bones did a really good job and saved Hoot's life. We're Native American Indian and did have ceremonies while he is our symbol of death. We won and could take him back, but would have to build an outdoor cage. We lived in an apartment that no pets were allowed. They farmed Hoot out to a zoo. As long as they take care of him. He was the largest owl I ever seen in the wild or in captivity.

I need helpful advice. My home of 34 yrs burned due to an electrical short. I have 2 females, cinnamon 6, wicca 4 & a Tom named Silver who is a bit slow (special needs) but very affectionate with me but was very combative during his stay at the vets when he was neutered. I am very attached to all 3 of my cats and i have a border collie Dixie 7 who is my diabetes service companion. We were all able to get out safely thankfully since the fire started around 3a.m. when Dixie woke me up. None of the 6 smoke alarms performed & yes, they had fresh batteries. Dixie & i were approved to live at the nearby Womens Shelter for nearly 4 months awaiting a low income apt to be available but i couldnt take my cats. I walked 3 blocks one way everyday to feed & comfort them. I made them a shelter with thick dry straw, & self warming blankets making them as cozy & warm as i posibly could with electricity no longer available. I bought hand warmers and heated bricks wrapped in towels to keep them warm & built fires we sat around cuddling for hours. But i still feel so guilty. I have an apt now but only Dixie, as my service dog, is allowed. My cats & i are very close. Its not their fault nor mine for our predicament but i honestly dont know what else to do. I hate the thot of placing them in a shelter. Theyll think i abandoned them and its too far for me to walk to see them. And I dont think Silver would be welcome becos of his past behaviors from homesickness. Any helpful advice ould be greatly appreciated.
