    Let’s be honest all brands rust on the fenders and bed especially northern trucks. It’s steel and that’s what steel does is rust when cities put salt on the roads.

    • @TruckLifeProductions
      @TruckLifeProductions  3 года назад

      Definitely true, and other things like with the Dodge there is some foam behind the bedside that holds moisture, so that didn’t help. There are some ways to prevent it like full wheel liners, applying primer or rustoleum to the inside arch panels or not driving in the rain or when there is salt on the roads. I know that’s not the case for everyone but it could help. There are even fiberglass bedside panels that could help prevent it as well, although it could be a costly solution.

    Every single truck manufacturered has issues with the rear fender wells. It's not dodge specifically. They all do it. Gotta say, i liked the 2nd gen ram better. It looked better and i liked the 318 magnum it came with when paired with the manual. But... now that i have an 08 ram 1500, the 3rd gens kinda growin on me. Not too modern, and has just enough mash between the older classy look and a newer feel. I dont think imma get any car older than 08, mostly cuz of my truck. If it werent for my 3rd gen, i woulda stayed 90s and lower

    Have you replaced the 3rd brake lights rubber gasket yet? Well if you haven't, I guarantee water will eventually come into the cab of your truck. I noticed mine leaking early, bit there are several horror stories out there. Anyways, pick up a marine grade gasket seal. It cost me about 8 bucks, and took about 20 minutes to replace. There are several videos online that show how to do it properly. So far no leaks whatsoever! It is well worth the investment.✌️

      Thanks and I’ll keep that in mind. I haven’t replaced it and it does leak and makes my storage area under the back seat wet. I was thinking about going with some aftermarket led taillights and 3rd brake light that are smoked so they blend in with the black paint

      It's not an issue with either of my 3rd gens but I'd imagine if you live in a much warmer area where the sun really cooks vehicles it would be an issue for sure, I live in the north so it doesnt get crazy hot so rubber deals like that tend to last much longer, but ill definitely keep my eye on it now haha both my 03 and 04 haven't had any issues besides the dreaded blend door actuators but that was a simple fix just make sure you replace the blend doors with the metal replacements so it last forever haha 😀

    Crazy video. First you could have put a Single Din new radio in and saved any trouble. With a Dodge radio mount kit & plug, it’s a 10 minute job. They also make kits for double din setup that are just about $20. Not sure why your bumper damage would be something you hate about your Ram. Should be something you hate about a bad driver. I actually love my old Ram, always take care of it, it’s a 2004 and looks and runs better than most new ones! For storage I actually like it. I don’t keep it junked up and find that storage perfect for inflator, a few straps and tow rope, but I don’t use my floor board for a toolbox, but that’s what the floor board cover plate is for! I’ll have to check my lower heater exit, but I don’t seem to notice any issue with heating. I will give you the stupid wheel well issue! Scrape that crap out and squirt some fluid film in there! Change the oil & filter every 3-5k and it will last longer than most of the new $55k trucks now!

    • @TruckLifeProductions
      @TruckLifeProductions  Год назад

      Thanks for the comment I did install a single din DVD player but it kept hitting the dash so that’s why I went with the double and I’m sure there were cheaper routes but that’s just the ones I came across at the time. Yes the bumper incident was actually my dad running into me with the 10th Gen F150 that’s on my channel when he owned it lol but I did like the truck so I kinda had to find something wrong “bumper” just was convenient. As far as the storage I think it’s just I’m used to trucks with the opening at the front under the rear seat especially if I have something on top of the seat, so with this design I personally felt that having something in the seat would be an inconvenience to have to move before I lifted the seat to get what I needed from under it or with the tray in this trucks case I’d have to lift it up all the way for it to stay lifted so I wouldn’t have to hold it. I no longer have the truck now but it was nearing 300k miles when I parted with it

  • @MyBinky
    @MyBinky 3 года назад +5

    #3 seat storage. The problem with that is that if they extended that bottom area out for more storage it would be a real hassle for kids or whoever to get their feet in the truck to sit down. Essentially it would be in the way

      I mean they coulda just not gave us any storage like ford and chevy did for these year trucks. I have all three at my shop for my employee work vehicles and the dodge is the only one with real under seat storage so there isn't tools rolling around the floor.. so he really doesn't make sense with his arguments about the rear storage... he needs to not be cheap and actually buy a tool box or something to organize his crap. I have a third gen Ram 1500, as for the uder seat storage, amazing. You have to keep your shit in a bed mount tool box. The radio my truck was good, I wanted to upgrade so I did. I wouldn't shit on the truck because I wanted a better radio. My truck came tow hooks factory, it's a Sport quad cab 4x4. My heater is also messing up but hey it's 2004, I call it dealing with your bullshit. My truck has wheel well issues, holes critters can live lol.... Now one thing I noticed and maybe you haven't had this issue yet, wiring harness the goes to the rear doors from the B pillar breaks. I wired mine up and got rid of the plug on both sides of the harness. Other than that I love my truck and yes it does have Hemi💪💪💪. Oh one more thing, my neighbors hate my Hemi because it's loud.... that's ok, I'm looking into a neighbor delete.

    There is NO foam behind that panel and ALL pickups without the optional wheel well guard installed will do this. You need to cut that out and weld a new panel on while it's still small. I repaired mine without any experience (you can see a quick vid of my job here on YT) I let my rot go too long and needed to use a lot of the replacement panel on one side. The side with less rot was way easier to do. I couldn't find a wheel well guard for a 3rd gen so had to make one out of black ABS. ruclips.net/video/1jXbYsBwIq0/видео.html

  • @bernhard8540

    You do know they came with different front bumpers...? That's why you don't have tow hooks. Both my 2003 and my 2004 ram trucks came with tow hooks. But they are Laramie's. The slt and st didn't come with tow hooks unless you paid extra for them when you ordered a truck. It's that way to this day for new trucks also, so if you go buy a new ram make sure you order tow hooks if your buying a st or slt :) but as for the back seat you just need to organize your stuff man really. Not trying to be rude but it's not their fault all your stuff doesn't fit... you do know that metal plate folds out .... and personally without trying to sound rude.... you need to not be cheap and go buy a tool box or tool bag or something. They can't assume that a customer is gonna store everything they own under the back seat.. if you want a work truck with loads of storage they make those, it's call the 2500 and up with utility beds on them. and the 1500 isn't it.. 1500 is for a weekend canper/haul a fishing boat kinda truck.

No longer having a garage to fix things myself and just a parking spot in an over 55 community, I got royally screwed, but taking that whole dash out is ridiculous.
    The damn thing had parts cracking and falling off with every touch of a hand.
    It's good now, but with 187K miles, it's sphincter tightening every time I turn the key, but it runs strong.
    Oh! BTW, I fit a marine isolation switch in the cab, inline with the positive from the battery, as the battery drain issue (Fuse 50) just got stupid. I lose radio settings, but in a 2003 Dodge Ram, that's the least of my concerns!!

      Taking that dash and air direction ducting out and fixing, is a long and tedious job. I knew that going into it.
      The truck is not worth it, I know, but now everything works and with a few other new parts, I trust it.
      The sad thing is. I sold my '04 Infiniti M45 Rocket Ship to buy this thing!
      It was only a matter of time before I lost my license, as that 2004, M45 is the greatest "sleeper" in existance and smoked most cars with ease, IF the fancy and conditions took me over! It had fresh new paint, run like a champ with a Borla system, was quiet but with suthority, but the truck is a better fit, for an old fart like me, with a dog and love of camping in the wild.

      My 03 5.9 does not have any. Has two covers for where they would go. My 08 6.7 has them tho

      My 04 2500.5 Ram 5.9 did not have them. I found a guy last month that wanted to trade my factory bumper for a Iron Cross steel bumper and I installed a new winch on the bumper problem solved. Direct bolt on replacement heavy duty bumper.

      @@TruckLifeProductions is there any other truck that you would want besides the dodge like a chevy? Just wondering because I was looking for a 03-06 chevy but the 06 Dodge Ram 1500 is growing on me 😅

      @@Jackson-vd3np absolutely I’ve been looking at another 10th Gen F150 like my 98 with the 5.4 and 4wd. I like the Ram and will probably keep it til the wheels fall off but if I could get another F150 and just build it up like I did the Ram or modify it even more I think it would look sick and be a stout performer. I only plan to do just minor modifications to the one I currently own

      @@Jackson-vd3np also if you are looking at an 06 if you get the 5.7 it’s possible to have MDS which deactivates 4 cylinders and I’m not keen on that, so like my 05 Ram and the 98 F150 they stay all 8 at all times

      @@TruckLifeProductions only thing I don’t like about mine is the body style lmao. I have an 2008 as well as the 04 that I actually drive to work everyday and I wish it was an 03-05 body. Other than that I have no complaints from mine, it’s been garage kept and cleaned weekly. It has 164k miles and runs like a top plus it looks brand new body wise.
