My dad has this truck and it has over 400,000 miles on it and it is still running today
Has this truck........ Well you're obviously a real smart person. Its not like there were four engines available at that time but sure we know what his truck is by magic. You know if you're trying to make a point you should probably say which version he has in order to make that point.
The 5.7 is bullet proof, a great truck. 375k on my engine and it still feels great .
Mine has 350k still running
What in the world are you guys talking about? 🤔 These things are over 20 years old with many over 200k miles still running strong.. The "problems" you guys mentioned are just normal maintenance and replacement things... SMH.
Fr
200K miles for a truck is not impressive.
Mine is at 250k having issues with a clogged cat 😺 but other than that it runs good. It's a 4.7 magnum
@@CT-Dana new trucks can’t get too 180k max …. you are a joke
He’s a Chevy guy hence why he rips on dodges all the time
My 04 is almost 20 and still going strong. It still runs and drives better then most cars I have owned. When I tell someone it’s 20 years old, they barely believe me. But I use & Tow my boat & camp gear, but take care of my stuff. Change oil every 5-6k, Hemi SLT has well over 150k still growls like a lion, no leaks, no ticks. No dash issues, but windows tinted, dash treated to protect from the sun and also looks new still. Had some underneath rusting from when I lived up north, but now more south and fluid film it every season. Sounds like you fellows just purchase a mistreated POS from the start. But I personally couldn’t be happier with my Ram! It’s been a great truck so far. Plan on a trip out west this year and even at its age trust it totally.
We had a 2004 Hemi, was a great truck. We now have a 2012 Hemi 1500 with almost 200k miles still running strong. Great trucks! Best in the business.
These trucks stand the test of time well. Still tons of them on the road with a lot of miles, they have amazing power and have been very reliable in my experience
I have a 2008 with 4.7 motor and it has been a great truck no problem with it , 158,000 miles on it , over 20 mpg on Hwy.
Just bought my first dodge it’s a 2006 dodge ram 1500 Laramie with the 4.7 v8 auto 2wd what should I look out for
@@Diamondboi-pj2inthose things are hot potatoes, maybe you get one that has been well-maintained and if you continue to maintain it well, it will get you down the road. But in the back of my mind if I was you I would just always be constantly worrying. Change your oil every 3,000 Miles I don't care what the manual says. Make sure to regularly change your coolant, visually inspect all of your hoses, go ahead and replace your thermostat. Heat is the enemy of these engines. Same as all but this one in particular. PERSONALLY IF I WAS YOU I WOULD JUST DUMP IT. AND GET SOMETHING BETTER WHILE IT'S STILL RUNNING RIGHT. Remember horsepower doesn't do that much for a pickup truck its low-end torque you want. And the 5.9 is more reliable in spades and a hell of a lot more low-end torque. And it's easy as hell to get it up in horsepower, and still reliable
Yeah I'm sorry but when your engine is at 300,000 miles you can make this comment 158,000 miles is barely broken in. Don't get me wrong that's not like low miles. My 5.9 has 175,000 miles on it and it doesn't skip a beat, they regularly do well over 300,000 miles in their lifetime. That's where the comparison is made. When you go from making engines that regularly do over 300,000 miles to make an engine that is lucky to hit 200 thousand miles that's not good......
@@Diamondboi-pj2inchange the oil every 3k miles. Make sure the cooling system is always in good working order, replace coolant every 3 years or 60k miles. Replace hoses and T-stat every 5 years. The main thing that killED 4.7 was neglect. If you don’t neglect them they will go 300k no problem.
I have an 04 with a hemi. Just about to hit 200,000 miles. Although I work hard I take care of it. I have a dash cover on it so the dash is perfect. I keep a cover over the center console so it’s perfect. I have to do some maintenance on it here and there not too much it’s been a good truck.
Severely underrated. It actually mind-blowing.
If you get a 3rd gen, get a late 3rd gen. I have a 2008 and drive the shit out of it and doesn’t break, it’s 15 years old with 226k miles all original guts and transmission. Interior is immaculate and have a rust bubble above the fender on the bed. Oh and I have a 330lb ranch hand bumper on the front with a 2nd gen E85 4.7 that hauls ass….Idk, maybe mine was made on a Tuesday.
I have a 2007 5.7 and it has been reliable as a wood burning stove, only the center armrest trim is worn and the drivers seat leather is starting to show some wear too, but no cracks anywhere, everything works as it should.
how’s it holding up?
@@danny8620 like the day I first got it.
I purchased a 04 regular cab 5.7 almost two years ago and it's the best truck I've ever owned. Being 6'5 and fitting inside, with seat adjustability is great. I haven't towed with it bc I'm fortunate enough to have a diesel truck too, but the Ram doesn't lack horsepower or torque. It'll drag any same gen ford of chevy... it will leave the light and hang with most naturally aspirated v8s out there today. She's rolling over to 195k soon and the only light on the dash is the annoying lamp out that seems to come on when it wants and turns off when it wants to. The door locks seem to work when they want too but it's not a real issue. Plenty of space under the hood compared to the chevy or ford. Overall, I'd buy one again and again just for the fun and power
The power comment you made is same thing old Dodge owners say when the would get a 5.3 vortec or 5.4 triton.
You get a Silverado with a 6.0 vortec max and you will laugh at your own comment. It’s world above Ram as far as power and reliability and even better on fuel.
@@gjolinares23go find the old hot rod magazine article where they tested both. Not much difference on track. Even less in a real world situation.
I have 2004 5.7 slt 4wd with 8ft bed absolutely love the truck getting 12.5- 16 mpg city and highway. 200 plus thousands miles. Put 2,700lbs of rip rap rock in the bed of the truck. Towed dump trailers, 37ft rv camper. Towed several fullsize suv's vans and some of everything else. Had the truck for 5yrs no breakdowns.
I had the same blower motor problem, it is indeed the ignition, the part if very cheap and super easy to fix, definitely worth looking into
My parents bought a brand new 2004 ram 1500 regular cab. The local dodge dealer had them marked down to $12,995. It was crazy and nothing you’ll ever see again these days. Those trucks were everywhere in my area back then due to that sale. It’s msrp was $21,000. The same dealer also did the same thing with the base model caravan around the same time. We never had any problem with it as my mother just drove it around town to places she needed to go. We bought it because she needed an affordable reliable vehicle. It fit the bill. She kept it for 6 years.
Spark plugs for the Hemi $2.20 each. My dash is perfect. 2 quarts of oil difference in laughable. 5.9 are an odd duck, one year only. I have 2004 Hemi, love it!
5.9 was not 1 year only they were around forever, b4 the Hemi and there great engines
@@glenparks5175 Odd duck for the 3rd gen Rams. Otherwise, yes, they are good engines. Not fuel efficient though.
I have a 03 st 5.7- i got one with the motor rebuilt. Did the rear end, rack and pinion, oil pan seal. Best part is parts are easy to find, not to mention junkyard you can find these everywhere
The 360 was an 02 only engine, hence the lack on the market. The 5.7 was the replacement to this engine. The 4.7 and 3.7 replaces the 5.2 and 3.9 respectively. The 360 is a great motor, however the Hemi was a clear upgrade. My father had a 02 4.7 ram, and now I have an 05 5.7, the difference in power is night and day. The 5.7 was also more fuel efficient. Getting about 15mpg combined vs 13 in his 4.7. (However I agree around town these trucks are pigs) The 5.7 from 03-05 was MUCH more reliable then onward. The MDS systems were a nightmare for destroying cams, I think they've corrected it as of 2014 or so, however I'll stick with the 8 cylinders all the time, might be harder on fuel, but beats tearing the motor apart.
Some really early 03’s had the 5.9 I think they were made with the Hemi starting in January of 03
I had an 03 with the 5.9
If I was towing on the regular I would 100% choose that 5.9 they have a way better low end kick than those 5.7s. not dissing The hemi but it's more of a performance race engine not much of a truck engine. You have to rev a hemi up a lot more than a Magnum.
I dropped the rear to 411 and that has made a big difference in the low end.
@@oldrango883 yeah but do that to a 5.9 and it's even better still.
I love my 2002 reg cab short bed SLT 5.9 4x4. Enjoy driving it more than newer vehicles. I had to have my 9.25 axle rebuilt too. Ditched the factory Spicer LSD and went to a Detroit Truetrac.
I feel like the issues are a little over exaggerated, I’ve got an 07’ with a 5.7 and it’s hit severe pot holes with nothing broken. Only issue so far has been a water pump and an minor exhaust leak. Although body surface rust is a real thing.
He’s definitely trying hard to make the 3rd Gen sound bad cause he’s a bow tie fanboy. My ‘05 is still in great condition. Runs great at almost 170k and… this one’s gonna really hurt him, it looks WAAAY BETTER than any of the new bow tie trucks out there.
I sent my ‘03 5.7 into a concrete bridge, bent the frame in the front. Straightened the frame out and it still runs strong 210k miles. This guy is talking out of his ass
Thank you, the one I own has manual windows and door locks, I love it!! Model: 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7 liter Magnum
I have a 2005 hemi sport. 289k miles and running. Idk what you guys are talking about
You're kind if misrepresenting this trucks towing capacity. A quick google search indicates that the max towing on these early 2000's Hemi Ram 1500's was around 8900lbs for specifically configured models. Modern 1/2 ton trucks today for all their advancements and power they have over this truck are barely maxing out at around 13Klbs and even then it's usually specific packages that are designed to handle the extra weight. Realistically, if you're going to be towing more than 8000lbs or so on a regular basis "multiple times a week" you need to get a 3/4 ton. 1/2 ton's are decent at towing that kind of weight once in awhile and great at towing 4 to 5K all the time.
Well, funny you mention that, we actually just did a towing challenge with a 05 Ram and a F-150 to compare them! Be sure to check it out on the channel, thank you for the comment and information!
I'm in love with my 2005 5.7 hemi 😉 100,000mi presently
My work truck is a 03 single cab with the 4.7 with a plow on the front I average 6.5 mpg. In order to pass other vehicles I have to turn o/d off 😂
2004 1500, V8, HEMI, 5.7 LITER, 198k, still going good. Besides basic maintenance. Maybe I just got lucky on mine.
When this came out my uncle got one brand new and it felt so far ahead and different from anything that came before (most people were still driving around square body single cabs back then). The 4 doors even in the extended cab was the biggest thing, and port fuel injection was a big change from the old LA Magnums.
I've had a 2004 1500 5.7 SLT Big Horn, since new. Fantastic truck still going strong at 180k miles. Just picked up a 2006 2500 5.7 SLT Sport. Both are far better condition than these two beat to hell trucks. Not sure what he is doing getting 7-8mpg city....both of mine are 12-14mpg average...mostly city driving.
I still have to this day my dads 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 with its 5.9 360 and Dayna 60 rear end the only major issues with the truck that i've had major issues now were a timing chain replacement at 245k along with new struts and shocks and wheel bearings and a transition rebuild at 265k that was done by a gentleman who worked for Chrysler for more than 35 years he lives in Bowie Texas its got the original radiator but the thermostat at water pump were replaced at 270k along with all of its fuel injectors and i upgraded form Champion sparkplugs to NGK sparkplugs and saw a 5-6 mpg change
I love my 04 truck. I bought it used with 100,000 miles and it has no problems. (I should say that no major problems.) I've had to replace the water pump and the usual spark plug, front end work, and the brake pads. Still nothing major. Now it has 200,000 plus on it and it is still running strong. I agree that the 4.7 has problems so don't get it.
So every flaw they have mentioned is basically normal maintenance/ replacement on a older truck. These trucks are great still today!
my truck has over 300k miles, just did a full rebuild from frame up bc it was wrecked, still no serious problems
The 4.7 is a great motor! No it's not a big power monster but it does everything good for small to medium towing.
They're also notorious for smoking head gaskets. Keep your eyes glued to that [TEMP] gauge.
@@broeheemed32my Durango has almost 230k and it’s over heated a couple times yet no smoke so I’m guessing you haven’t owned a 4.7.
@@oldrango883yeah youve gotten lucky then. Or you shut it off right when it was starting to overheat. Cracked heads and blown head gaskets I guarantee you have one of the two GUARANTEED. Unless you're not the first owner and it's already happened and been replaced which is most likely. Why would he own a 4.7 when at the same time the 5.9 and 5.2 was out which were both ten times as reliable, and made much better low-end torque. The 4.7 was a cheap in-betweener. It was the guinea pig. You can keep that piece of shit.
I had a 4.7 Dakota and I will say that they do not get enough air. Tinkering around with it as there are not much in aftermarket parts for it and if it's got over a 100,000 miles on it definitely take the time to change the lifters but opening up the air intake is miraculous. I used a three inch intake port that y'd out to twin filters and the transmission control module flashed to a 🤔 patriot or something I can't remember but it will give you two more gears as the tranny's are 6 speed but only programmed to suit. Oh yeah after throwing a rocker arm through the valve cover is when I found dodge recommends changing lifters at 80,000 miles 😁
I own a 2008 dodge 2500 5.7 and all I got to say is if you are not mechanically inclined do not buy. But for me this truck can pull alot. It runs well when truck is done right. Get headers and rebuild front end right this truck will go and remember maintenance that damn trans it will last.
Whenever I hear the name Dodge Ram, this alongside the 2nd gen Cummins are what pop up in my mind. Good rumbles and nice looks are the impressions, the post 08 body style also looked great till they ruined it with the spaceship makeover. Spaceship exterior, spaceship technology and frankly, the price of a spaceship... Trucks are no longer practicle work horses these days, instead they are some's financial dumpsters and some's money laundering assets
These trucks top out at like 8600 lbs towing capacity. Where in the world did you read 13,500?
My 2004 Ram 1 ton has 403,000 miles on it and is rust free and going strong. And 23 mpg to boot.
Looks like he’s been taking advantage of that fast food
I have an 05 with the 4.7 at 268k and it refuses to die. Btw those cupholders are unbeatable
Have a 03 1500 reg cab RWD with 310,000kms and the 4.7 Magnum engine in it seems to be bulletproof with regular oil changes. Truck tows 7000lbs no problem, gets 800kms per tank city driving and is like a little sports car compared to my 04 F150 lol 😆
5.9 was a better Engine period
Bit strange how different the mpg is for your truck, I have a 2004 dodge ram hemi and I get 18 almost 19 mpg in the Rocky mountains.
02 4.7 388000 no issues
I’m barely at 108k with mine, the Laramie edition is beautiful and I’ve have no issues so far outside the mileage and the cracked dash but I can say that mine was well taken care of by the previous owner
I also get 12.5 city and 16 hwy
Great video!👍Even though you’re not a Mopar fan.
I just bought a 2003 dodge ram Laramie edition for 1,000 $ with 168,000 k miles , so for I love it 😂
The hemi actually is more reliable than the 5.9s or both the hemi and the 360 are almost equally matched in reliability actually. Both good engines. I hear older guys talk about the 5.9s saying they had good luck with them. I have as well. Proper maintenance they’ll do you well. Yeah lifters tick all V8s do. Some Cheap garbage sensors gone out on em. I never had to tear into the engine before or change gaskets at well over 200k miles with my hemi. I have bought a cheap 2002 ram with the 5.9 as another beater truck. I literally bought also other older rams with the 4.7 and the 3.7 as cheap beaters for experimenting also. Lol
I’m actually impressed that the 5.9 one I bought for 1200$ that has 161k miles on it runs great but had coolant leaks which is a issue I gave it new hoses. The old hoses were original and a bit dry. Don’t know where it came from.
best ram ever build (im from europe tho but i love mine)
mine is actualy pretty damn good at mileage. it has a mild cam and mds delete and it still gets 20 mpg
and chrysler leather? our old ram had over 300.000k before the seat had a small wear cracks
the dashboard in our old 5.9 is broken but my ol 3th gen still has the dash in perfect new-like condition after well over 200k
the wheel bearing problem is a problem in pretty much all trucks .... last one i had to replace was in a pretty young mercedes pickup truck.
you americans talk so bad about the RAM trucks sometimes but in europe they are known as one of the most rock-solid trucks you can get. they are VERY popular here (from importers at super high prices since there are no official dealers)
the fact that this guy states that a silverado is more reliable is absolutely weird as shit for us europeans. this is NOT what we are seeing 😂
@@noidontthinksolol This guy likes Chevy's. Which means he doesn't know anything.
My 2007 Dodge RAM 1500 5.7 Hemi Bighorn's dash and center arm rest are "NOT" cracked and it has almost 275,000 miles on it. (and its still running on the factory spark plugs / it's farm truck)
The 4.7 isn’t that bad my parents own one and we never had to replace the trans just the clutch, but never had to replace engine parts. We never had an issue with that.
Well that just sounds like your parents knew how to take care of their shit. If you baby these engines they can make it pretty far. If you treat it like the average person does and they don't. That's the thing though the 5.9 can be treated average and will just keep going
A lot of older SUVs and trucks a huge reason your rear end locks up on you is cause of a bad leaking cheap crap pinion seal. Ugh I hate that damn cheap thing.
Slowly mists all the gear oil out of the rear end and it can also loosen your pinion bolt and destroy that, to the whole rear end locking up. Always inspect that area you see it’s wet under there get that crappy seal replaced and inspect that pinion bearing! Everyone recommends putting on a new pinion nut getting it crimped on there plus I’d use loc tite blue for safe measures on it 👍🏼
Shoot my '97 Ram 1500 with a 360 V8 auto has 297,650 miles on it so far and still going strong. It still has the original engine and trans, I've owned the truck for a little over 10 years now and I've put 105,000 miles on it myself. Before someone says that can't be the original trans with that many miles, it is, but not without work. The first thing I done was flush out the trans fluid after I got it, then I put an external trans cooler on it, because I don't think that the radiator trans cooler is good enough to keep the trans fluid cool enough. I've been flushing out the trans for the past 10 years and with the new fluid I also put a can of Trans X and a can of Lucas Trans Fix in it too. I flush out about a gallon of fluid each time I do it and I put in new cans of the stuff I said earlier. So far the trans is working good. Anyways I will never get rid of my truck, I'll drive it until I can drive anymore or it won't run anymore. Also not sure how many more miles I'll put on it but time will tell.
Oh and I did change the fluid and filter on the trans about 6 or 7 years ago, but all the other times I've been flushing it out. I watched a video on RUclips showing how to do it. I took a trans line loose, put a hose on it and put the other part of the hose in a bucket. As the old fluid comes out I would put the new fluid in a long with the cans of the other stuff. I would flush out about a gallon of fluid each time. Been doing this like I've said for a little over 10 years now and I've gotten 105,000 more mile out of the truck myself. I would do the flushing every 30,000 miles or so many months. If you take care of them they will last. Oh and the external trans coolers help to keep the trans cool too.
My 2007 4.7 dokata has 220k and no problems
I have a 02 dodge ram 1500 5 speed manual with a 4.7 in it and it has not given me or my dad that had it before me any problems. Will admit the Mpg are terrible and the dashes do crack in a lot of dodges but mine has not yet cracked.
The snout on the 3rd gen reminds me of a tonka toy I used to have
Typical Chevy fan 🤣😂
2005 Ram hemi have electrical problems won't start!!! I have 125000 miles.
If he's getting 7.5 mpg in town he's either got a lead foot, or something is terribly wrong with that Hemi
No lead foot, just 301k miles and the thirsty hemi
@@GrumpyMonkeyGarage I see, yeah that's alot of miles for sure
Yep. My 04 gets 13-14mpg in the city at its worst.
@@GrumpyMonkeyGarage good god,so here I am returning to the comment section lol, so I got an 04 ram 1500 hemi I bought with a blown engine, swapped in a used engine with 260k km, yes I'm from Canada, and I've done a whole tuneup and much more, my everage mpg is 11.4 and it sucks ass.
My 2002 ram 1500 sport was a monster. Ran without oil and with no gas it seemed😂😂. The silver bullet was a 10/10. Yes it was a 5.9
You mentioned this a few times and it really needs to be made clear: the max towing is NOT 13,500 lbs on that truck! The combined weight of the truck, occupants, fuel and trailer is 13,500 lbs. The max tow rating is closer to 8,200 lbs for the HEMI, since you have the 20" wheels.
How can they call it a hemi? When it follows the 4.7 (semi hemi) engine. Dodge even says its not a true hemi because of the combustion chambers. So technically they could have remained in nascar being an in block cam.
Its definitely a real hemi. The hemispherical dome in the combustion chambers aren't nearly as aggressive as the legendary 426, but it is still a hemi nonetheless.
The 5.9 360 is extremely rare in this body style Ram. It waa abailable only in 02 and VERY EARLY 03 before the 5.7 HEMI replaced it for the rest of its run.
I dont get the hate on the 4.7. My uncle has one with high 200k mi (maybe over 300k mi now havent askes him in a while) and hes never had an issue. If you keep up with oil changes its a pretty solid little engine. If you run them with dirty oil then thats when the problems start.
Used Hemi of that era is NOT good choice the lifter cam failures will set you back 5 grand if they did not destroy the engine. That 5.9l is the way to go!
I have a 2004 ram 1500 and live in the rust belt (Cincinnati). That being said, I bought this from my dad in Oregon. It has 98,000 miles and ZERO rust. ZERO RUST. And I also have a dash with not a single crack in it. Chrome wheels that are still chrome. Not even any rust on the wheels. The fact that I have a 20 year old ram 1500 with 4x4 and a 5 speed, less than 100k miles, no a single crack on the dash and once again ABSOLUTELY NO RUST WHATSOEVER!!! And I live in Ohio, basically means I have a unicorn lol. I’m not gonna sit here and lie and say I like this truck more than my 2014 Silverado, because I don’t. I’ll take Chevy over dodge any and every day of the week. I know that’s going to hurt some little feelings, but I don’t care. That’s just been my experience. I’ve owned every brand of truck and Silverado and Tacoma are literally the only trucks that I would buy multiple times over. Again, just my experience. With that being said, it’s pretty cool that I probably have the only 2004 ram 1500 in southern Ohio that’s 4x4, 5 speed, crack free, dent free, perfect interior, less than 100k mile, RUST FREE and as close to perfect as you can possibly get. And I’ll trade it for a decent Silverado TOMORROW if anyone is interested lmao. Seriously…..
04 wins for my,230k and purrs. lot of parts replaced approx. 6k overtime,,,,,,beats getting a New one.....
Funny I have owned many 3rd gen hemi rams. Still own and drive a 2005 ram 2500 5.7. Over 200k runs like new Iam the original owner. When u maintenance ur truck and don’t abuse it it lasts and doesn’t have these issues. But when u are obviously not a dodge fan u trash them. Don’t listen to this guy
397500 miles on my 08 ram 5.7 hemi only the rear end rebuildt 2 times
Most mechanics say don’t buy dodge or ford . Buy Toyota or Chevy
i have a 2004 dodge ram 1500 5.7 with 180k on it and the only problem i have is the bed rusting out
Mane 4.7 ain’t bad
Post a pic of the "Dana 60 rearend".
My uncle got this truck
my 2004 Hemi 1500 quad cab 3.92 gears averaged 17 mpg on the highwa, so you must have a problem causing your bad mileage…the only major problems on these trucks are the pinion bearings and seals on the 9.25 axles with crush sleeves that fail when towing heavy loads , and the valve springs have been known to break….I have240k on my truck running strong
I forgot the front ball joints are an issue as well and yes the unitized hubs but that’s an issue on all vehicles that use them
Wait. I am not a truck guy really, but I do have 2008 1500 Bighorn. I’m curious on how he’s getting his fuel economy. I’m getting nowhere close to that I’m gonna between 12 and 14 in town!! I’m getting was 16 to 17 Hwy. On my way to Elpaso roads are and I got nearly 18. Are you guys getting search low fuel economy as he
Nope, I lowered the gear ratio on my ‘05 to 411 and still get better than what he’s claiming and I run 80-90 on the freeway commuting. I average about 13.5 overall but I’m not light in the pedal.
I’ve got a 4.7L slt 2003 that has no cracks in the dash 😅
There may be no cracks in the dash, but go take a look at your heads. Haha
@@seanbutler2291 sad thing is that’s the truth 😭
5.9 is far superior to the 5.7 for several reasons, bomb proof bottom end, always runs even with cracked heads, in fact most all 3.9/ 5.2/ 5.9 magnums have cracked heads, but no one but your machinist will notice!
On the other hand, all the 3.7/4.7/5.7/6.2 like to drop valve seats! Aluminum heads and powdered metal seats don't mix!
And Mopar did not do a proper interference fitment on the seats. Any good machinist will tell you that it's 7 though, interference fit not 4 thou! And that's why when they get heat soaked they drop out!
If your an asshole about maintenance like me, and drive it like a truck ( not a dragster), you too can achieve 300k on the same engine! The 4 and 5 speed autos are marginal quality especially if you don't change out your atf4 on schedule; plus the internal spin on filter .( why can't they make them like the Allison with an external spin on filter?) So I own 2 4.7s, one in a 04 ram with 5 speed manual with manual shift transfer case thar the motor was junk, and my $500 dakota slt that has lasted 300k and never been opened, gets 20+ mpg highway and 17 city, don't smoke or leak except for the exaust manifolds with the famous ( mopar exaust manifolds bolt snapping off tsb)
Truthfully I prefer the pre 74 318/ 360 LA engines, so much better design, and they are real Dodge before fiat and stellantis got involved and cheapened the quality of almost everything. I have a 78 Dodge 1 ton B300 with a 360 that's 10 times the truck that any ram will ever be, and it's a unibody! But, 360 with thermoquad, 727 transmission, Dana 60 rear with 4:11 ratio, ive hauled 3 tons in the van with another ton behind it for 4,000 miles, no issues! That's a real Dodge not the crap they make today. If you gave me a brand new one, I'd immediately sell it and buy a pre 74 or a house😂😂😂😂
There would be no ram trucks without dodge!!
The 5.9 360 one has the hemi badge on it 🤦🏻♂️
HA HA, he said the panty hook was for a trash bag!
How many miles are on the trucks
I have an 03 ram 1500 with the 4.7 and it rubs like a dream at 200k miles only downside Is it’s fairly slow
What’s your opinion about the 04 1500 but with the 4.7 L?
Did a whole video on the 4.7 and did a cheap truck towing challenge that was our 2005 4.7 we've owned for 2 years getting a solid opinion of. Be sure to check both of those videos out!
Man...idk. I don't think ford and Gm are perfect, far from it. But a dodge? I used to run a transmssion shop. Oh my God! Maybe someone can view these dodge trucks as cheap to buy cause everyone wants the ford or GM. And looking at price and availability...going from that standpoint.....maybe there are some aftermarket or jerry rigging ideas to work around all of the flaws. Because there are many! Jb Weld. It won't look pretty. Hot staples in plastic. Jumpers wires all over to escape wiring gremlins. Converter parts from ford, or GM. Work around switches from other brands screw to dash with wires, relays, and fuses? Rust Bullet and miracle paint with a brush. Welding. Welding bracing bars. Use lots of anti seize on bolts cause you'll be unbolting over and over. 3M panel bonded pieces. Bondo. Foam and Bondo. Dash carpet cover. Oh my god. You can make it work...somehow
😑😑Haha 😂 entertaining as always! Educational?… not at all! The comments I think right the wrongs of this Video, the owners of the trucks love them. To clarify, the rear ends in these trucks are Chrysler 9 1/4, he states Dana 60 rear not true, the srt10 had a Dana 60. The other guys says 3.92 rear end 🤦🏻♂️ that is the axle ratio, the ratio has nothing to do with the axle reliability. These rear ends suffer from a posi trac that breaks clips and grinds into the case. And if maintenance is neglected will need a rear end rebuild around 150k miles. The hemi use a 545rfe transmission this is a 5 speed, not 4 speed, these transmission are great, service them ever 30k-60k and they will last 200k plus miles with no major issues. Working in shop the common failure on the hemi trucks was exhaust manifold bolts breaking and EGR valve failures, that was it! I would not let this guy wrench on my vehicles. KEEP IT UP WITH THE VIDEOS your content is hilarious!
4.7 drift truck 5 and a half speed
Dana 60 in a 1500? Never heard of that
Can Someone come fix my exhaust manifolds
13,500lbs? New Dodge/ Lamb 1/2 ton trucks with Hemis can’t even come close to that 😂
I don’t think even a 2500 from those years with a hemi would do very good pulling that weight really.
HEMI 4.7 can be a piece of garbage
v6 is nice tho but you wan the HEMI aside from like 10MPG 13 when new
How do i tell what kind of rear end i have?
I hear yah, but I love these trucks lol
God this is such a misinformed, anti dodge review lol.
Would I be able to see over the dashboard is my questuon
That "dodge" Ram looks like it lived through a life with a big fat ass gorilla. That gas milage is WRONG or that engine is F'ed up! I bought my Dodge Ram 2500 w 5.7 HEMI new in 2005 ....still driving it. It towed 4 sailboats, 4 kayaks and multiple long hauls hauling building supplies and cement. That wear I see with ripped and broken...just about everything.... is on the user. I could buy a new "Ram" for cash right now but DO NOT want trash in my driveway. Waiting to see how Toyotas new powertains do. Maybe in a few years I'll buy that. Crazy how much attention 3rd gen Rams are getting. People look at me, point at the truck and give a thumbs up....WTH is that about. Too young to be a classic.
This is by far the most absurd review I've ever heard. I've towed 16,000 lb with my truck across the country 120 degree. I have headers and intake a fan clutch delete and 4 row radiator 488 gears. No tune yes my dash is cracked but I rolled it once and I bash it in the desert all the time. And take it on all the trails. And with all my mods and 37s I still get 10 city 13 hwy not that that's anything to brag about but even towing i didn't sink. below 9 a stock slt would do way better then that
Wtf is this guy talking about
Yeah that’s what I was thinking
Yeah he’s a Mopar hater what do you expect. Look at the condition of the trucks in this video. Maybe he’s just bit the mechanic he thinks he is.
Do not get a 3rd gen gasser! Unless it’s cheap AF and you need a hunting or work truck to abuse till it dies
You guys are opinionated and horrible at reviews
.. 4.7 is absolutely trash..... no its not 🤣 its prob more reliable then both the 5.7 and 5.9... it's just not making as much power or towing.... don't mean it's trash tho...
08 ram 1500 no dash crack haha
Yeah my ‘05 has none of the problems this guy says “you won’t get away from” 😂.
This is what happens when you give a queeeeeer a camera
😂😂😂
