I think you got a bit confused about Tchaikovsky's books. The Doors of Eden is a stand-alone sci-fi book, not part of any of his series, so you can read it right away. What plot you described in the video sounded like Children of Time, which is indeed the first book in a trilogy (the rest being Children of Ruin and Children of Memory), but the trilogy itself is not called Guns of the Dawn. That's the title of the author's other, fantasy stand-alone book, that I don't remember you owning yet. Btw I do really recommend all of his works, I think you will enjoy them! But I wouldn't recommend starting with Shards of Earth, there's so much going on in that series it's hard to keep track of it and can be a bit daunting at first.

The used bookstore near me doesn't have anything that isn't falling apart because they don't take care of their stock which is sad... I love that you have a nice spot near you

You should try reading books sequels first, that is starting with the last book in the series first and moving to the first book. You'll love it.
