its a shame we dont have more stuff from him. however i am forever greatful for his stuff!
he tried to have more stuff, but studio make him change his mind to reject from direct some movie like Killing Seasons (2012) [original name Sharpnel] and another project "Tau Ceti Foxtrot" studio reject from this project because COVID-19 spread first time [he says he almost not see his wife and son but lucky they have last flight fly to British Columbia, Canada].
latest interview in NIFFF he says he tried to investment from independent studio film and we will see [if can put 3 project about Sci-Fi, Western and Horror movie base from his screenplay].
I Hope to see A New Action Movie From John McTiernan . Damn is Miss His FILMS for Damn a Long Time . Thanks For sharing this Interview .

Ces quelques tendres et précieuses paroles au sujet de Bruce Willis, arrivent à point nommé.
Magnifique rencontre, très humaine, que l'on découvre sur le tard. On sent que les questions de Fabrice ont été longuement pensées pour libérer la parole de John McTiernan, sans le brusquer pour autant.
L'air de rien, on est ravi d'avoir écouté ceci après avoir enregistré notre podcast sur Le 13e Guerrier, car on y fait le même rapprochement entre ce film-ci et A la poursuite d'octobre rouge sur la question du langage. Quelle intelligence faut-il, pour adapter une même idée de mise en scène à deux films si distincts. Et quel plaisir procuré au spectateur, vision après vision. McT manque terriblement.
Bref, c'est toujours un régal d'écouter cet homme, ça l'est encore plus quand l'interlocuteur et cinéaste face à lui se montre si respectueux. Bravo.

His style is his style, it's impossible to copy
You can tell JJ Abrams is superficially influenced by McTiernan's camera style, but doesn't have the tact to give it near the same gravitas.

Merci pour cette interview. Cet homme est l'un de mes heros. Un faiseur de très grands divertissements (dans le sens le olus noble du terme).
J'ai usé pas mal de VHS de ses films dans les années 90's, et c'est une crève-coeur qu'un real de cette trempe n'arrive plus a trouver de financements pour tourner.
Merci, c'était très instructif et tellement hors des sentiers battus.
Le constat final sur l'industrie cinématographique américaine est lucide même si quelques exception existent mais qui malheureusement ne rencontrent que de plus en plus difficilement le succès public.
Merci Fabrice, un entretien avec Mc T comme celui-ci, je l'attendais depuis des années.

Meilleur interview de John Mac Tiernan ( mon papa du cinéma). Sur la fin c'est touchant. On sent l'homme blessé. Mais pour moi avec Mel GIBSON il reste le meilleur réalisateur du cinéma. Il nous manque.❤

Thank you very much for this. Been waiting for the next film for 20 years now. I love this man. Are parts of the interview edited out? It seems to skip in the middle of a sentence in a few places.

Je crois que la souffrance qu’il a eu avec les studio le met en silence. Par example je sais qu’il dit que le 13iéme guerrier est ça version. Mais la majorité des acteurs et des personnes qui on travailler dans la production disent que ce nais pas ça version

Is it just me, or does McTiernan come across as very defensive in this interview, for no real reason? Body language is all wrong: arms constantly crossed, head down. Was something edited out? He probably got pissed that you skipped over Medicine Man - ha.
John McTiernan is a strong yet wounded artist! Everything he delivers in this meeting with another director (Fabrice duWelz is not a journalist nor a critic!) comes from the heart. He was touched and willing to share those memories. It has nothing to do with an usual interview, that's the beauty of it!

@@didiersimon1044 I would like to believe what you're saying but I'm just not buying it.
Another tell is at the end: You would expect a handshake after all the pleasantries have been exchanged, but neither side reaches out. That should tell you something.
But who knows, maybe that's just McTiernan's personality these days. And maybe whatever quirks he had before have been accentuated greatly after the legal issues.
BTW, I'm not insinuating any bad intent on DuWelz's part; you can tell that he's a genuine fan of McTiernan's and I found all his questions and approach to be in good faith.
If you look at some of his old interviews, his body language was always the same, I think you are reading too much into it, it's the same old John.
@@gordoncutter9241 If you look closer.. there is a strong emotion coming at the end of the meeting, following the frank, expressed wish coming from Du Welz. A tear was restraint.
A passionate man that still has passion beyond anything us normal guys can ever imagine, he has the eye for screen its a shame Hollywood is such a pussy movie making market now.
