- Cette semaine, on reçoit la légende du cinéma d'horreur !
Après La Mouche, A History of Violence, Videodrome, Cosmopolis, Les Promesses de l'ombre, Scanners, David Cronenberg est de retour derrière la caméra dans "Les Crimes du Futur" qui sera projeté à Cannes avec Kristen Stewart, Léa Seydoux et Viggo Mortensen.
Dans ce Vidéo Club exceptionnel, il est venu pour nous parler des films qu'il aime, ceux qui ont forgé son amour pour le cinéma, de Brigitte Bardot qu'il adorait, des films lié à sa carrière (Alien, Total Recall, Star Wars VI....), de son passage en tant que président du jury à Cannes en 1999, puis des films avec des actrices et acteurs avec qui il a travaillé (Léa Seydoux, Kristen Stewart, Vincent Cassel)....

Cronenberg is so laid back and yet a consummate artist, and deceptively cool, non judgmental, likeable, and above all , a good communicator. He doesn't need to put anything on a pedestal, he strips it all away on some of his favourite films, actors and directors. He strolls through this video library with humour, vibrancy and lovely anecdotes. What a gentleman!

As a Canadian Gen-Xer, I grew up on Cronenberg. Great 'interview' and format. I could listen to him for hours. He's 79? He's clearly in league with dark forces to stay so sharp. Long live the new flesh!
Like lynch his internal world is peaceful even if his art explores the fringes and difficult aspects of the human condition

This one goes straight into my favorite videos list, absolutely amazing hearing him talk for 25 minutes about these movies (most of which I haven't seen yet!)
The Fly made me cry for real. Its so tragic to watch but so beautiful at the same time.

Man, when Cronenberg spoke about Italian movies during his childhood, about those adults weeping, I immediately knew it was Fellini’s La Strada. I still don’t know how Fellini’s touched people’s soul so much, art at his purest form.
Such an elegant, elloquent, likable, down-to-earth man. He isn't just a great director, but also a true class act!
How can such a likable, down to earth man, make such disturbing films?!!!
Loved hearing his thoughts on Julia Ducournau and Titane. Really can't wait to see Crimes of the Future.
Ah mon rêve d'enfant, pouvoir ouvrir un video club, parler de cinéma toute la journée avec mes clients et faire mon connaisseur. Me la raconter pro Tim Biurton ou Spielberg, bosser en regardant mes films préférés, conseiller quelques pepites peu connues et avoir un sourire de remerciement au retour du DVD.. Vivre du cinéma sans être un réalisateur ni acteur. Helas le streaming a tué mon rêve et les videos clubs n'existent pratiquement plus. Merci pour ce moment de cinéma qui nous fait revivre ce qu'il y avait de beau avant. Cette interview est magique....comme le cinéma que j'aime....bientôt samedi, soirée location DVD scream et trash moovie...que de souvenirs 😉

The man, the film-maker, the legend. I remember watching THE FLY as a little kid (lmao!) on TV and I was immediately BLOWN AWAY by the special effects and by the way the story was told. No frills (even though they bult a big machine for the walk on the roof scene), no beat around the bush crap, just straight lived-in sci-fi, which is why I love his films. The world he creates seems to be fully fleshed out (quite explicitly sometimes) and I'm utterly delighted with the fact that he seems to have more material in the tank that he's willing to share with us.
Long live the new flesh.
This video is a jewel to be cherished. I wish he keeps making lots of movies for at least 20 more years! Absolutely lovable man and genius filmmaker.

L'écouter pendant 25 min est vraiment un pur plaisir, rien que vos 3 derniers video-club, les personnes que vous avez reçus (Gilliam, Argento et maintenant Cronenberg) je trouve ça génial. Ce type a l'air adorable, Videodrome est clairement un de mes films préférés, franchement merci beaucoup Konbini, ça fait zizir. 😊

When he started saying the adults cried after seeing an Italian I knew for sure it was La Strada !! I had the chance to discover that movie in a theater too, awesome experience, one of the best movies ever.
On pourrait l'écouter des heures, mélange d'anecdotes et de feeling sur des films, et puis une certaine modestie, vraiment grand Cronenberg !

Love cronenberg. Such a well-spoken, inteligent man. Even at 79, you feel his head works like a person in their 50s.
I don't like how quickly Cronenberg seems to be aging these last few years. He always looked about 10-15 years younger than he actually was but now it seems to be catching up to him. But we need more Cronenberg and we must not let time have its way with him!

J'ai redécouvert Cronenberg grâce au vidéoclub avec Julia Ducournau, et sa façon de parler d'elle, c'est magnifique de voir une légende de la réalisation souligner le talent d'une autre étoile montante, surtout quand on connaît l'influence qu'il représente pour elle. Super épisode, très touchant, beaucoup d'humilité et d'intelligence, c'est un vrai plaisir, merci Konbini.
Même si je ne suis pas un grand fan de Julia Ducournau, ce qu'il dit sur elle est extrêmement élogieux tout en faisant preuve d'une belle modestie, hâte de voir votre prochain film, maestro Cronenberg!

One of my all time favorite directors, I just love his views and his take on filmmaking, cinema, and directing! I've never much cared for directors who put their actors through hell just so they can get a desired performance, I agree with Cronenberg - that's BS - unless you've miscast, let the actors do their job and work with them, not against them. A great filmmaker and a great man.

The master is here! Merci Konbini, l’un des plus grand realisateurs de ces 50 dernieres annees. Tres peu de personnes peuvent s’assoir a sa table. Et en plus les romans qu’il a ecrit sont egalement de grandes qualites.

Et désolé mais Scott, à part les duellistes et Alien, le restant c'est un peu creux et chiant. Esthétiquement superbe (encore heureux pour un mec qui vient de la pub), mais chiant. Dernièrement il y a p'tet celui avec Matt Damon au moyen âge qui était réussi, mais entre Celui là et les premiers cités, c'est le vide intersidéral
The best commentary track on a DVD I've ever watched was David Cronenberg's on his film A History of Violence. Not a moment was wasted. Like a tutorial on film making from the coolest college professor ever.

Dead Ringers is fantastic. I wasn't in love with it when I first saw it, but man it stayed with me and continues to do so. That whole scene at the end with the two of them....man.
Génial ! Quel plaisir de voir un réalisateur aussi grand et aussi humble. Autant influencé que influenceur à son tour pour d'autres générations. Et surtout, c'est toujours aussi agréable de voir des réalisateurs/trices passionné par le cinéma...

23 minutes de David Cronenberg, quel bonheur ! Sa vision de la mise en scène, avec une direction d’acteur très libre, est tout bonnement formidable et devrait être la norme pour tous. Un certain Gérard Depardieu a exactement la même approche de ce quoi être un acteur, et force est de constater, ils ont tout juste :)

Perso je vois pas trop l'intérêt d'un Scorsese dans cette émission (trop courte pour lui, en effet :D) : le Maestro a déjà tellement répandu son amour du cinéma partout : interviews, livres, documentaires, restaurations de films... tout est déjà disponible pour les cinéphiles et les Scorsesiens ^^! comme avec Tarantino d'ailleurs. ils seraient les deux que je n'inviterais jamais à l'émission ^^

Possessor (Uncut) & Titane are two of the most incredibly unique and purely original films of the last few years. Can't wait for Crimes Of The Future and Cronenberg's return to Scifi-bodyhorror!

I truly enjoy this film journey, he is so kind, humble, and a funny man. Well, i have to say this but when he talk about he saw Blue is the warmest colours made me laugh a bit. I love him, cant wait to see crimes of the future!
