Lol, weird I just watched this episode last night on Syfy. Rodney would have been better off doing what John did. Have Teyla teach him out to fight, esp since she has more patience than Ronan, lol. And, have Ronan use his hardcore style for training and sparring.
@politicalair Some martial arts train to look at the eyes because a common way that untrained (and even some trained) fighters "telegraph" their movements is through a sudden shift in their eyes. Whether or not I believe that is debatable, but it's a belief thats out there. Plus training to use your peripherals (from what I've seen) usually involves staring at an opponents chest, which can be... awkward when dealing with male/female situations. And the episode i was referring to was "Runner".
Hey Toxikae: ROTFLMAO!! Can't stop smirkin' every time Ronon whacks Rodney...at least Rodney tried to pay attention before Ronon smacked him the last time. Course,I'd never have taken my eyes off of Ronon to begin with but I'm just a hot blooded woman. Gotta go stand in my deep freezer to cool off. }:O
+politicalair you know nothing about fighting do you ? by the way he dosent say look into my eyes, he says "dont keep your eyes off the opponent" which is absolutely correct, and yes looking at the opponents in the face is the best way to see the whole body and know when the blow is coming, and your coment about him winning with only muscle, thats aa good try but if you watch his fights clsely he is not what i call a martialidiot .. he has moves and he uses them and using only his muscles.. he would not even survive a week being a runner, just syaing , what you are calling a novice mistake is used by almost every martial artist that actually knows how to fight, next time dont talk about things before you know what and why they are that way, if you ever had any martial arts experience (tournaments and so on) you would know that you can tell a kick the second it launches when you look at his face source: 13 years martial arts, 8 big tournaments, many smaller tournaments

I call this the Allen's episode.
Really? Haven't seen that episode yet. Which is it? Cause that sounds cool.
Why didn't he ask Teyla to train him?

cause ronon's better... he's beaten teyla and sheppard at the same time before.
I'm sad McKay didn't evolve into a well-rounded person the way Daniel Jackson did.
I think Keller may have been the start of McKay's character development, but not enough seasons to see the long-term effect :(
