One of the most "oh-shit yeah that sucks" moments in television.
I miss Weir and Beckett so much...
I've no idea why they killed Carson off. Apparently Wier was called off because Tori Higginson wanted a bigger part (which to my mind she deserved and would have worked for the character) but the studio refused, they then got in Woolsey who was a great character but never stuck me as someone who would be commanding, or someone who would be put in command of, Atlantis. Carter/Tapping was put in charge after that and was great as always but they gave her exactly the same role Higginson wanted so I don't see why they couldn't have just gone with her in the first place.
I'm gonna blame one guy. But mums the word!
@@pioneer_1148 weir was a very likeable character and showed good leadership. sucks they killed her off because of making her character more prominient. and then killing her off again as a replicator using a different actor was cherry on top!@
@@pioneer_1148 Carter came before Woolsey.
@@randomrazr that replicator ending was so bad. Having her betray her people, who were innocent
Cant believe i haven´t seen this episode. Time to re watch the whole thing me thinks.
Kjell Ringström D:
I just couldn't watch after her death.
She was and is my favorite character.
So I just pretend that she's not dead, still running Atlantis 😁
@@serafimag1959 Show died for me when she died. Actually i stopped watching the show.
@@farscape1714 It's a shame, because those final two seasons were fantastic. You should really re-watch it and actually watch those two seasons.
BRING BACK STARGATE ATLANTIS!
the actors are either too old or too expensive
@@TheShootist that is where you are wrong, most of the actors want to do stargate alantis they tried to get the rights to it
@@tsgamer7909 Jason Momoa can't possibly want to go back to Stargate. He's making a shit load of money with his Aquaman and Fast & Furious movies. I hate to say it, but Stargate Atlantis is a downgrade for him.
IF I WAS RICH I WOULD FUND A CONTINUATION OF STARGATE ATLANTIS. EDIT: Or At least a one episode special with them all back talking about things. EDIT 2: Or maybe a new movie?
That actually make sense, since when you clone someone he has all the memory of that person up to that point 😁🙃
This is how you know he's not a real Scotsman. If he were, then having been told they thought he was dead and that Dr. Weir is dead, he'd surely have asked "Are you certain about that?"
A literal no true scotsman
I feel like he says that a lot in the series.
In the books she ends up ascending
Hehehe. You should know that ppl from Scotland is as soft as most :)
Ironically he'd be right, they're not certain she's actually dead either
The whole Carson thing fizzled.
Just like my 85 year old niece once told me long ago.
Don't shizzle the fizzle.
@@IIISentorIII 85 year old niece. or 8 and half year old niece?
When you think about it. He doesn't know who the replicators are. Not the Pegasus Replicators anyway, since he was cloned before they encountered them for the first time.
This was gutrenching.
Yeah. I mean, just imagine: You come back after a year or two and the people you love the most are just gone. That's why I threw this clip in here. I thought it was powerful and well done.
GREAT show!
This day extracts a heavy toll
The dark hold rips a heavy hoe!
Damn I forget what happens to him. Did he ever try to resume his old life and contact his family about the "mistake" or did he just stay in Pegasus permanently?
He returned earth and I believe eventually was able to reconnect with his family, later he came back on the finale to help drive Atlantis as they traveled to earth
They made 8 books that take place after season 5 and they are amazing damn if we only got one or 2 more seasons we could of had real closer in the series. They get the atlantis back to the Pegasus and he becomes the head doctor again. After Keller leaves to help the wraith spread a new retro.virus for humans that allow humans to survive wraith feedings. Still hurts and still drains energy. But now a human just gets tired and few cut marks. Wraith offer healing with this ability for feeding. Since it allows humans to survive feedings it ends the war and after.killing the Uber Wraith queen Death. Atlantis and wraith split the galaxy right down the middle for territory. War ends with Todd/Guide and his daughter forming a alliance with atlantis, wraith callings end. Wraith are also confirmed to be another failed Ancients top secret project that they used humans to experiment getting eternal life without ascending. Wasn't random mutation from. Iratus bug. Though it's dna was used for splicing it to humans wraith escaped and eventually grew so numerous they took out the ancients. Also shepard and Tayla get together and Rodney gets Reverse Michaeled. Oh and Ford is a traveler with a family on a ship and Weir is ascended then de ascended when she intervenes and saves Rodney from flying Hyperion's wraith failsafe device into the sun
@@GreenDragonReviews that would make a couple of good movies
@@GreenDragonReviewsI'm pretty sure these were also the plans for future seasons but since the show was sadly canceled all they could do was sadly continued it in book form if we ever do get the show back thankfully they should definitely adapt these stories on screen not sure how I feel about Shepherd and Tayla getting together I always like them better as friends not to mention I like him and Elizabeth better since it always felt like they had a connection like Sam and Jack from SG-1 still I really like the stories from the books I haven't read them but I've read about what happens under season 5 it's very promising and I like the fact that Guide has a daughter which is funny since I was just thinking about that earlier can't imagine him having a son so I think having a daughter fits him a lot better.
@@Drago_Whoovesnah just have them at seasons since these were probably going to be seen on Screen anyway.
Such a shame they didn't bring Grodin back, they already had a medical doctor by this point.
I think there was a back door about him being beamed off the Satellite onto a Wraith Cruiser, but that's almost grasping at straws. Pretty hard to come back from that death after all.
And never is his two years among the wraith utilized for story.
@@mxr1337x Oh sure, they used it as a sort of... I dont know... mcguffin or whatever... in some stories. Just a convenient tool that cropped up spontaneously when they had no other way of writing it in. No, Im talking about actual character development. Youd think 2 years would be traumatic, that he'd be treated badly, seen deaths... but carson2 just brushes it off like nothing for the remainder of the series and he's indistinguishable from carson1 in all ways, except for some knowledge learned with the wraith (but he also never learned what carson1 learned in atlantis), and its never really touched on again. Except for convenient plot developments.
Good thing about Sci-Fi, it is possible to rewrite characters in other genres, it would almost be impossible to!
THAT, right there is why he can’t go back.
Yeah.
I hear the books continue the Atlantis storyline, and Weir did come back, but... why should I care? Really, with what happened to the Star Wars EU, it's only temporary, it could and probably will be very easily retconned and overwritten by whatever new TV show that's an exercise in vanity is shoved out under the Stargate name. I think Brad Wright himself even admits this.
To be fair, MGM seems to have relatively clear-cut definitions of which novels are and are not to be considered canon.
@@patrickschulz2193 Yeah, so were the Star Wars EU books. Don't believe the revisionist historians at Lucasfilm, it WAS canon - we have the statements, the quotes, all that to prove otherwise. But with the progression of time, that changes.
@@saberiandream316 it was never canon.
@@edwarddeguzman3258 Yes, it was.
@@saberiandream316 no, all the EU wasn’t canon so if Lucas decided to make new movies he wouldn’t be beholden to what was written.
When did he get switched?
Not switched cloned. The original died in an explosion while this version was surviving as a prisoner of the wraith.
Skullabrin308 That makes sense now. Thanks for the explanation. I was always curious how he got switched without anyone noticing.
Master Erakuis- Dr. Beckett was cloned and held prisoner by Michael and his hybrids, not the Wraith. Michael wanted to use the Doctor's medical knowledge to continue to modify his hybrids.
@@williamarends7138 Makes sense. It was his work that created the Hybrids in the first place.
Not sure if you will read this since it's an old comment now.
But after they had used the gas to turn wraith into humans on a hive ship and Michael, they left Michael and the others on a planet.
On that planet some of the turned wraith and Michael started remembering, they took Carson hostage before the daedalus and a hive ship could reach them.
While on the planet helt captive by Michael he took Carson's DNA and had him cloned to force him to do research.
That clone is who they rescued.
episode?
Season 4, Episode 19 (The Kindred, Part 2). Helpful information can be found in the video's description.
This was a shitty way to bring him back...he's a clone....ok, since when did he get cloned and why and this Superman returns bullshit of him not really being dead is a stupid way to write a character out and then bring him back another way.
It's actually a genius way to do a cameo.
I mean what was the point of bringing him back as a clone when they could have just had him to begin with or they could have used a sarcophagus to bring him back and which is the thing that bugs me about the later seasons of SG-1 it's like they don't exist anymore it also could have been the very thing that could have brought Janet back after she got shot by a Jaffa I also didn't like how she died they could have done that a lot better.
In real life she change her name move back east
Elizabeth belt show me where the paddock power and influence tore down the house
Uhh... what?
