- Kirby Allison, Founder of Hanger Project, had the chance to meet up with Wil Whiting, while both were in San Antonio for the Trunk Show. Here is the third fitting for Kirby's Bespoke Casual button-down collar shirts from Wil Whiting; a bespoke shirtmaker out of London aiming to redefine the bespoke shirt.
Wil Whiting is focused predominantly on quality to ensure each customer receives a shirt that encompasses the true meaning of the term "bespoke," as known with the traditional British tailoring community.

Of all the professionals you work with, this guy is my favorite.
What about the hemrajanis
@@TopStrikerMaverick Fuck the hemranjanis they killed my father.
There's some that say While Whiting is still out there, finalizing the measurements on Kirby's shirt...
Seems like a lot of adjustments needed for a third fitting. You would think it would be close at this point.
You're a great natural interviewer. Always asking questions and keeping the subject talking but never taking the focus away from them.
This is a very enjoyable watch. I wasn't aware of Wil and just read up on his background, training and philosophy. An extremely driven individual and a true artisan. Great work.
Great video Kirby. I did my initial fitting with Wil in San Antonio and now can't wait to get see the first trial shirt and start process.
Hugely informative presentation and wonderful to see a master such a Wil at work. I look forward to the finished product.
I wish I had this information when I needed shirts like this. Now retired Just need a hawaiian shirt shorts and flip flops. But still love nice clothes.
I’m very impressed with Wil Whiting’s Bespoke shirt making process. It seems as if he goes to great detail to ensure that the shirt fits and looks nice. Thanks for sharing this video with us. If and when I am in the market for a Bespoke shirt, I think that Wil Whiting will be on my “short” list. Also, he seems really easy to work with, which would be an important factor for me in selecting someone to work with. Well done presentation and video, Kirby! Ed
did you ever get a bespoke shirt? from Wil?
“Tailor, please widen my left cuff to accommodate for my Rolex.” Just realized the hilarity of this lol
B Q but it’s absolutely true. A sub 10mm thick dress watch slips under the cuff much easier than a +12mm Rolex which also tends to be more slab sided.
Mark Maier I’m not disputing that. You missed the joke. 🤦♂️
B Q no. I got it.
@@markmaier2503 good to hear!
it's a legit comment.
Wil Whiting is wearing a perfect fitting shirt - terrible to wait four weeks to the final shirt - very pleased to have this channel
“Yes well, I like Wil too Kirby. But I just don’t want you two spending so much time together from now on.”
- Kirby’s Wife.
This dude knows his shit. If i was rich i would definitely use his services for all my suits
Hey Kirby, I hope we'll see a video of you selecting the fabric for your shirts.
This video bewitched me, even if I buy ready-to-wear shirts.
I love tailor's British accent.
Hi Kirby, great video. We have a great view on what a true bespoke shirt takes. Also great to learn what to look for when wearing a the test shirt.
“Now Kirby, I’d like you to re-enter the room without anything on from the waist down. This will help me address the flow of our meeting...*sputter*..I mean flow of the shirt”
😂
Please tell me you did’t edit this all in after kirby commented that emoji 😂
Just gag me! Ick!
What a wonderful educational presentation, plus so looking forward to seeing the changes.
This is amazing as solves a mystery had for over about six months! Here I thought my growth spurt at 27 1/2 was the sole reason my sleeves are too short (just found out too short) however, this points to also to caused by strength training to repair my shoulders, as when slightly stretch my arms out, can feel it pull in the back, forget fully outstretching, afraid will bust a seam. Good thing I don't have children. ;P
here ladies and gentlemen is perfection in action ...Wil Whiting at his best!!
Now thats bespoke. That shirt really looks great
So much work sure goes into making this shirt!
Thoroughly enjoy watching your shirt and shoe fitting videos.
“My Rolex is a little larger”
Big flex 😄
Great video. I love the channel. I have learned so much about clothing and shoes from this channel. I was making so many mistakes. It makes me cringe to think about it.
Depending how late it is on Saturday... 🤓🤣🤣🤣
As someone trying to learn how to sew my own bespoke shirts; this is immensely interesting to watch.
oh yes same here. From the previous video's Kirby did with Will I learned so much in terms of fitting. And even some little secrets I haven't been able to find elsewhere. And this video is no exception. I did a little victory dance in my mind while watching this video.
I am about to do that and see all sorts of amazing tips. Now glad hadn't drafted the pattern as know now where will have to add inlays.
Sælger du dem i københavn?
All hear the language of perfection. Just a handful of them perfect it. 🎉
Wow no Navy Suit for War comments yet?!
It hasn't been established yet...
it yet has to established...
Those come after he apologizes for his sandwich breath.
Hopefully Dr. Vicki Scott will be there with her ancient otoscope 🤔
I want to know what his trousers are...
I recently learned my alterations tailor makes bespoke shirts, is there anything I can ask or look for to make sure he knows what he's doing? Love the channel, thanks for keeping me well informed.
I would start by asking him the process to be fitted for a shirt. If it's just "i take your measurements and you get a shirt in a couple weeks" it's definitely *NOT* bespoke, most likely made to measure. if he does a fitting or anything of the sort (perhaps even has a minimum first order like Wil) then you're probably very well off. just watching this series and how Wil conducts himself and does the work itself is a good indicator of what to expect (within a realm of variability depending upon experience etc)
Dear Kirby, thank you for sharing your journey through the bespoke process. I wonder why you use different makers for shoes (Gaziano and Girling, Dominic Casey, George Cleverly, Dimitri Gomez) as well as shirts (Huntsman, Whil Whiting, My Tailor). Is it their house styles with specific types of shoes/shirts? What's the best way to become acquainted with their work so you can decide who to work with based on your style preference?
I suppose the only way to get acquainted with a house style is to have something commissioned. Kirby does a great job of showing us what the process looks like but the end result is best experienced by actually wearing it yourself. And you cannot know what something feels like until you try it on.
Hi Kirby, in the past you have given us some information about prici'g for bespoke shoes and if my memory serves me right also for bespoke shoes. I'm keen to know if you could make a video talking about prices for bespoke shirtmakers. It's understandable that they don't provide all the information but we're fortunate to have you to hopefully guide us. Cheers.
bespoke shirtmaking in London runs around £350 per shirt
Mohsyn any recommendations on where to go? I’ve heard of Emma Willis does bespoke shirts.
Really enjoy the button down collar. Would you consider a few more pronounced roll collars and a few straight collar and which do you prefer with tie and which with button open. Gives me motivation to trim 20 pounds to have fitted darts once again.
It seems like at this point in time, we should have a computer scan your body and a shirt pattern be made from the scan. It should come out very close to perfect, with minor modifications, such as widening the left sleeve to accommodate your Rolex.
I can’t believe I watched a dude fit you so well, for so long... However, the collar he did really makes you look like you really run the show. Where ever you go, you look confident and unlimited... kind of the difference between the guy who gives the orders or the guy whom takes the order.
Dear Kirby and Will. You have any idea how immensely grateful I am for the few video's you did together. As a self-taught hobby tailor I learned so many tricks and tailoring secrets through these video's. I just can't thank you both enough. I'm really curious to see your final shirts and what fabrics you chose. Thank you, Gimar.
My lower back is hurting just looking at how Wil stands. Buddy, PLEASE bring those hip back.
Imagine if kirby smacked that guys ass😂🤣
I haven’t laughed this hard in a long time... Loosee Monnn you are crazy 🤣
I was thinking about Kirby tickling him before I read this comment 🤣
Wil is the man in all manners
It’s probably to late to ask but i really like the style of shirt that Will has on and the material. I really wanna know what kind of fabric that is.
Probably nailed it by the 11th fitting!
do they remake the shirt, or modify this one?
He looks so different! Is it just different hair length? He looks so much younger with longer hair!!
Lovely video. Do you find the problem with a custom shirt is the fabric limitations versus off the rack options? would I be too rude to ask for an approximate price for such beautiful handmade shirt? Also are the shirts hand sewn or machine sewn?
You actually have way more fabric options with custom than you do off-the-rack. Price of Wil's shirts range from $400-$800 depending on the the level of hand work. The shirts he's doing for me is fully machine made.
Wil's a lot more chatty in Texas!
How much for the shirt & fitting?
Kirby do you have to pay for all the shirts/suits/shoes or is the advertising what the tailor's get?
How does one address the issue of shrinkage down the line, considering its 100% cotton? Even with proper dry cleaning, you can get shrinkage.
Wil mentioned a minimum order. What is typically the minimum order for bespoke shirts? Thank you
Jeff Brogan I emailed Wil a couple of months ago. I believe his minimum is 6 and they start around $600 or so given the exchange rate with the Euro. The only hiccup is he is limited in his appointments in the USA and scheduling.
Is the minimum for International or does it apply to UK too?
I would like to know where this man got his pants :)
How much does these shirts cost
I wish he had said how he was gonna get rid of the pooling of the center below the collar because I am struggling to fix that on a shirt I am making!
Looks like he is working it towards that seam.
I watched the whole half hour.
Next...measuring socks 🧦
What suit are you wearing?
A navy one. For war.
Established
Kirby reminds me of Jordan Schlansky from Conan. Is it just me? Thumbs up if you agree.
And I mean that in the most complimentary way possible!
Steven Collins not at all
Wow, how about the carbon footprint?
I just don’t get a bespoke button down. Or any button down. Once I began purchasing custom shirts the only collar I get is a traditional spread collar. A button down shirt seems so, collegiate.
Just my .02
Cheers
Doc
Hi,
Because the collar looks more flattering with button down.
Hi, because a collar looks more flattering with button down
wasn't this supposed to come without darts?
How much was the Shirt?
They are 500 pounds each. Minimum order is 4.
Dayum, Wil got some cake
How much would this service cost?
From £350 or $465, the price goes up with hand sewing and better materials.
3 fitting for a shirt? I’m sorry but I think most tailor can cut that shirt perfectly with 1 fitting.
1. Портной не замечает стрелок от ворота к плечам. Нужно больше свободной ткани. Это не скафандр. В рубашке человек двигается. 2. Рукава в средней части ему малы. Делайте шире.
Good Christ! What a professional pain in the ass! Enough already.
Who is a pain?
Will seems to have a great taste in watches. Is that a brietling emergency?
I find this interesting on how a shirt is made and fitted. For me I am 5’9” 160 and it is very easy for me to find a slim fitting dress shirt that is 100% cotton at Macy’s. My shirts fit me well and they are comfortable. I just try on different designer shirts and buy the shirts that fits good. I dry clean the shirts so I have no shrinkage. I usually buy at one of their semi annual sales. I can also understand when a person has a hard time finding an off the shelf shirt that fits them well. This kind of device might be for them but a custom shirt like this does cost a lot of money.
mans got cakes
no homo
Superb interactions and education. Is there any reason for buttoned-down collar points? I've acquired an inner perspective (that may have no grounding) that collar points buttoned are for the preparatory/collegiate chap to manage collar tidiness in the disheveled academic years. Your thoughts and discoveries, Mr. Allison?
Thank you for this video demonstrating the process and conversation to be had with an extraordinary shirt-maker/tailor as Mr Whiting.
Having savored this exact experience in Malaysia as well as India with two superb shirt and suit-makers, I am grateful your video prepares all of us men for such distinguishing moments.
13:44 such a British “no, no, no”
Wil is pretty.
Ass for days
Basically, if you don't have an English accent, you will never seem like an expert. Unless you are the cowboy boot guy. He got away without one
Stephen Lachter has this done with 1 fitting...I don't think this guy really knows what he's doing
Buttoned collars and ties do not go together!
How will he build a shirt for my big oil' gut? Or do I have to not eat like kiddy for a few months?
I think your shirt collar is feeling pressure that’s why it is going right way, bespoke shirt collar should be straight for me shirt fitting is good but collar is not good
Confused. Is this a repost?
A T the original was deleted within a few hours for whatever reason
:)
Tight shirts are so confining. They're much like sausage casings. Very uncomfortable. I know a better shirt tailor who hand-sews the important areas of the shirt so that they're soft and pliant. The buttonholes are hand-sewn. This tailor also makes pure cotton shirts with silk interfacing and ivory buttons. Cost is four figures for such quality and comfort.
No shirt is going to look good on that body type. No amount of tailoring will fix that. This guy needs to develop chest and shoulders so to fill up the shirt.
body by juice box...yeah needs to mix in some pushups and resistence training. Good videos though.
Very true
Anybody else find these fittings super awkward?? Kirby is slowly becoming the king of awkward. Where's the chat???
The dude is just overall socially awkward. Interesting videos of the process, but he's trying so hard to be this lifestyle.
These videos I’m guessing are meant to be informative. Wouldn’t be beneficial to include what he did at the weekend etc...
for all the things he liked with the shirt, the majority of this is how it's not working for him...
2nd
Pretty rude for you to tell someone that they’re paying too much attention to the button placement. You don’t even know how to make a shirt.
He is very professional, but 3 fittings? Cmn, too many. It is suited as a process only for the rich as a kind of luxury leisure.
Sorry, but I think that collar still needs work.
I am not homophobic at all but its just funny how you can tell by how someone stands
First
A collar isn't that nice,
My first bespoke shirt had no collar at all.
India style 😂😂😂
So, how do you wear a tie?
All shirts look the same regardless of money spent lol
Kirby's shirt doesn't look as good as the tailor's.
whaaat?! wheres the finished product? smh
We just filmed the delivery video on the final three shirts! Publishing soon!
