Being one and having many family members who are also blue collar workers it relieves me to know people still appreciate what we do. But he didn't just sit down. If he had just gone to the panel that would have been fine, but he sat in the very front row and bought an entourage. And they had done that to you everyday for 3 years, and then you go to work and they are at your work, sitting there, smiling at you. It was 100% supposed to be an aggressive and intimidating action. Go to the panel sure but don't try and hijack it to grab attention for yourself and also threaten someone you harass.

I honestly do not understand her and most Feminists logic in that. Rationale discourse with those who one disagrees is not a bad thing. It actually can help one's position. By understanding the opposite side and why they think that way, that can cause self-introspection. And that can be a good thing. It allows one to figure out if their beliefs or ideas on the world stand up. But who knows? Maybe, I am being crazy in this case. It is why I often categorize most feminists as regressive and poisoning the well, as opposed to sharing it/ adding to that well of knowledge.

Hypothetical example: I came into the VidCon lobby to give people that came to meet me free merch because they already paid $150 for a ticket, and I don't wanna make them pay more. In the result of a stampede, five people were severely injured. The fact of giving your fans 3,000 is morally okay. Creating a dangerous, property-destroying, stampeding mob of 12 to 16 year olds while doing so? Not so much. Especially when you know what the consequences of your actions are going to be in advance. The Sargon/Anita thing is a wierd soap opra drama to me. Anita comes out of this looking like a hypocrite . Despite her comments afterward, it's just damage control. She knows that she just reacted and reacted badly to Sargon being there. Sargon himself posted a video saying that he went to the panel to get an idea of how he could approach Anita and other feminist with his arguments in a way that they would accept. But the best part of the whole thing is how Sargon and the other skeptics have reacted to the incident. Sargon started wearing a hat (probably made by Jeff Holiday) with "Garbage Human" on it. A few in the Skeptic Community have started calling their community "The Landfill". Not just Sargon but most of the live streams I've watched from vidcon show all of them embracing the term Garbage Human as a moniker. Mind you these people were calling themselves the RUclips Villains before they ever got to VidCon. This is probably the biggest difference between the two sides: The Feminist get called a name and they cry. The Skeptics get called a name, and they meme it.
It's 2017, and people are still talking about Anita Sarkeshian? Mostly I'm shocked that VidCon invited her at all. I was a speaker (Industry track, not a RUclipsr) at the Amsterdam one this year, and might also be at the Australian one - but depending on how they handle this, I might reconsider. As I said, I'm very surprised they invited her at all - she's a proven liar (about everything from her past, to her current "research"), as well as a thief (stealing both content from RUclips, as well as graphic artists, giving no credit or money, or telling them she is using it). Not to mention all that "I was harrassed and bullied online!" because someone sent her a deaththreat or said something nasty on Twitter - geez, back when I was active on RUclips, I recieved deaththreads as well but it's certainly not something I would make a big deal out of. VidCon is a really cool thing, but this seems to blow in the face of their "everyone is welcome and included" policy. If they decide to let it slide, purely because of her gender and ideological views, I might reconsider what I think of the event overall.
If she was just complaining about the death threats and actual stalking I could side with her. But she seems to consider any criticism of her to be harassment which is a problem because she say a lot of things that seem quite idiotic. If you say she's wrong she considers it harassment and worse she is an activist against that free speech. If the speech is little mean or critical of her or other women (she agrees with) the perpetrators must be punished. Though somehow I get the sense she is ok harassing others or 'punching a nazi' (with everyone who disagrees listed as a nazi). If anyone else (not in her crowed) did what she did they would have been kicked out. The rules are not equal.
I find it worrying how Logan Paul led the crowd of teens through a fountain then across what looked like polished stone steps, if that isn't a cause for concern I don't know what is. I think these people need to start using their brain but a crowd draws people it's human instinct. He needs to think about how much danger he put his fans in. It just shows he doesn't care about them or their safety. Having fame needs to come with certain responsibilities. He is responsible for this mob and the harm caused. If we don't place responsiblity on someone for inviting something they purposefully did then we fail as a society. This doesn't mean your responsible when your fans go and harass (or threaten) someone else, unless you tell them to do so and encourage the behavior. This is why you have senators and actors making statements against violence.

I definitely agree with you. Wasn't there something similar to this that happened just a year or two ago? Where someone had fans running wild at vidcon for some sort of scavenger hunt, that was so dangerous that they had it shut down? That person back then was in the wrong, and Logan Paul is in the wrong here, too. You would think that even though he wasn't invited, he would've been at least somewhat responsible and tried to look into some of these things first... Oh wait.
When you become a RUclipsr with 5 million plus subs, you gotta think about more than just yourself. There were people who most likely traveled to VidCon just to see Logan. And if you see him, you are going to do everything in your power to interact with him. So now you and hundreds of others are in a stamped to get Logan's attention. Yes, the craziness is partly because of fans, but it is also due to Logan being there to begin with. And all the security sees is someone causing a lot of trouble. He doesn't know who Logan is.

Rescuing women from their captors is objectification of women and sexism... From that day onward, she kept trying to top herself with more bat shit insane stupidity, and yes, many people felt the need to point out how bat shit insane her arguments were... She has had her comments section disabled on every single one of her videos, ever since that first video. Anita Sarkeesian does not receive harassment, she receives public backlash for her insane and insulting content which she publishes on the internet. Anita then pretends that this public backlash is misogynistic harassment. I don't know why Phil didn't mention this fact.
FoetusInYourNoodles Anita is a controversial public figure, so I'm willing to bet she does receive death threats, bullying, and legitimate harassment. I actually did go to VidCon this year - spent $750 on an industry badge. I think VidCon needs to do a little more research on the types of creators they are inviting to be featured so crap like this doesn't happen again. It's very unprofessional and gives the entire community a bad rap IMO.

That's the thing, he shares his opinion. And some people don't like his opinions because they lean the opposite way to their own beliefs. I personally love that he shares his opinions even if I disagree with him, because that's how he explicitly draws the line between fact and opinion. It makes him more trustworthy than any mainstream or partisan media outlet.

Its funny she mention Franchesca Ramsey. One of the people there named Andy Warski has made far, far more videos and harsher criticism of Franchesca Ramsey than Sargon had of Sarkeesian. However at vidcon Andy and Franny met up, had a long conversation 1 to 1, made a huge deal of progress, and managed to put aside their huge dislike of each other. They acted incredibly maturely, made a lot of progress, and nobody felt "harassed" "intimidated" or any other form of victimhood. Anita needs to stop speaking for other people, she was wrong about Franny, she was wrong about rape victims, she was wrong about cripples, she was wrong with just about every single group she tries to speak for. Especially when the latter two are openly begging her to stop.

She sits there making up how terrible the world and the police forces are towards rape victims (quite the opposite in my experience) and is constantly supporting and promoting people who have been caught out and categorically proven to be lying about having been raped along the same lines as "listen and believe" even though common sense would suggest that it might create a backlash towards anyone claiming to have been raped in the future, and people less likely to actually believe it. She constantly flips out about rape jokes and demands we all start believing that they are entirely unacceptable and damaging to rape victims, despite rape victims being some of the biggest purveyors of rape jokes due to their known benefits to recovery. Essentially the only people supporting her behaviour regarding rape are those who haven't been raped. Almost every rape victim I know (dozens upon dozens) strongly despises either Anita's approach to rape itself or those with the same approach Anita takes. It is known by both the experts in rape victim psychology and the victims themselves that her suggestions are some of the very worst one can follow. As for cripples, she uses the same tactics of attempting to be the spokesperson for cripples as a form of exploiting it for attention and money whilst exclusively saying things the huge majority of cripples disagree with. A society which is both forced to support all disabilities at huge cost to itself or face even larger fines whilst simultaneously being given quotas and grants to encourage hiring of cripples isn't "deeply problematic" or attacking cripples in any way. If anything society is too far the other way, small businesses shouldn't be forced to pay tens of thousands of dollars they can't afford just so 0.6% of the population in a wheelchair don't have to ask for a little assistance. Or forcing disabled bathrooms in clothing stores and those unrelated to using a restroom (again tens of thousands of dollars). Or even forcing gyms, athletics stadiums and general sports training centres to add a wheelchair ramp or elevator next to every set of stairs just in case a cripple in a wheelchair decides to train in a specialized facility for the 100m sprint and doesn't want to ask a willing member of staff for help. Seriously, this is the state of it right now. And of course cripples getting preferentially hired above others at a significantly disproportionate rate far higher than the number of disabled in the country (and ignoring that many disabled like myself can't even work anyway making the numbers even worse) and giving grants or fines to companies based upon that number. All of it suggests society is broken trying to bend over backwards for cripples. And the biggest complaint of the again dozens upon dozens of cripples I've asked (support groups are a hell of a place for that sort of thing), that people treat them overly nice and they'd simply like to pretend to be a normal person. Again its a case of Anita saying a bunch of lies which bears no relation to reality, asking for the very opposite of the desires of the group she intends to exploit, and generally making life noticeably worse for both the group she is "helping" and the rest of the world forced to bend to her whims and slowly getting pissed off at the group she claims to speak for. Basically she is exploiting both, she is doing the opposite those she "speaks for" desire in both, she is making things very noticeably worse for both, and I'm sure its quite clear how much I dislike her behaviour. Exploiting other people's life-ruining problems for attention and money is bad enough, but damaging their lives in addition to that is a lot worse especially when her sole claim to authority is that other people are the damaging ones.
Or not, because I don't see Sargon doing that. If anything he would welcome her on stage for a debate. Which would also somehow be considered harassment.
That isn't what we are talking about, I am saying if for some reason he did exactly what she did he would be banned on the spot. I'm not saying that is what he would do.

Stephanie Kay did you listen to the questions? Asking someone if they "actually believe the things they write" is not a question that creates meaningful conversation. The questions were definately not on topic for the stated purpose of the panel. These were questions used to derail an important discussion and insult the panelists. I very rarely use the word stupid. But I stand by it in this intance. I didn't call people stupid or even their opinions stupid. I called patronizing, rhetorical questions stupid.

I can't stand Logan Paul. You can't tell me he did all that for any other reason than to fuel his own ego. He was being a nuisance on purpose and it makes me angry that he's causing needless trouble - that is potentially incredibly dangerous, maybe he isn't 100% responsible but an instigator - and he does that, disrespecting the work Hank, John, and the entire VidCon staff has put in.

FratinandMadrik I was at Phil's meet-up in London a couple years back and he didn't have security or anything as he didn't think he needed it but yeah, we were all older than 12 but we still crowded him (I was towards the back/middle so I actually was trying to get people to give him space but I'm just one small person) and tried to get a pic/signature, he fled the scene as it was a safety and security risk, which is why eventually he came back and you had to get a pass as he had to pay for security... so no, this just happens with anyone any age who has a large audience, which kinda proves your point even strongly, if (mostly) calm and collected mostly 16-30 year olds can still put Phil in harms way, a bunch of 12 year olds are even worse.

The problem with Anita's statement is that she was clearly the inciter of that incident, she was in a position of power having a microphone and being a panel host and yet her statement implies she was the victim of something that simply did not happen. She wasn't harassed in this scenario and the people sitting peacefully in the audience had every right to be there. You cannot claim to be the victim and also be the inciter, that makes no sense.
Here's a perfect example of cyber bullying and cyber stalking and stalking in real life. Society still doesn't acknowledge how a sociopath can easily start shit online and cause a lot of emotional damage to a person. Then just show up and smirk and just sit there and use their mere presence as a trigger because they KNOW they've already created a hostile atmosphere. This is how sociopaths get their victims to look like the bad guys. I had an asshole at work that would whisper to me sexually harassing things even threatening my job because he was my supervisor. But in public and in front of our department manager, he was all sweet and respectful. He'd even say nice things to my bosses about me. So when i complained about him to HR and my managers, they would shake their heads and thought I was unreasonable. This is how a sociopath works, folks! I have no doubt Anita felt harassed and her feelings are valid. The problem is she needed to keep her cool and fight fire with fire. Wait until he comes up for a question, or one of his Flying Monkeys and THEN logically and reasonably discuss how the online harassment and cyber bullying makes it so hard for her and other women to keep their cool now that their bullies are in front of them acting all sweet and nice. Anita should have requested an apology for specific comments done online. She should have searched her phone for screenshots of online convos and read them out loud during the panel and asked if said parties wanted to apologize. Sargon has never contacted Anita directly. He has made a point of never contacting her. That way she could never misconstrue it in some way and use it against him and so that he can't be held responsible for any of his followers going after her. The whole point of going in there was to listen. She barely ever does anything public so this was the perfect opportunity to hear her speak. They also went to other panels where other people they disagree with, such as Francesca Ramsey, Kat, and TYT. Also, the group SPECIFICALLY told their members to not do anything while there.

Being one and having many family members who are also blue collar workers it relieves me to know people still appreciate what we do. It's hard work that doesn't get a whole lot of recognition even though what we do is depended on by pretty much everyone. I honestly do not understand her and most Feminists logic in that. Rationale discourse with those who one disagrees is not a bad thing. It actually can help one's position. By understanding the opposite side and why they think that way, that can cause self-introspection. And that can be a good thing. It allows one to figure out if their beliefs or ideas on the world stand up. But who knows? Maybe, I am being crazy in this case. It is why I often categorize most feminists as regressive and poisoning the well, as opposed to sharing it/ adding to that well of knowledge.

It's different then saying you didn't know whether or not its okay to kill, because thats obviously not morally okay. The Sargon/Anita thing is a wierd soap opra drama to me. Anita comes out of this looking like a hypocrite . Despite her comments afterward, it's just damage control. She knows that she just reacted and reacted badly to Sargon being there. Sargon himself posted a video saying that he went to the panel to get an idea of how he could approach Anita and other feminist with his arguments in a way that they would accept.

It's 2017, and people are still talking about Anita Sarkeshian? Mostly I'm shocked that VidCon invited her at all. I was a speaker (Industry track, not a RUclipsr) at the Amsterdam one this year, and might also be at the Australian one - but depending on how they handle this, I might reconsider.
As I said, I'm very surprised they invited her at all - she's a proven liar (about everything from her past, to her current "research"), as well as a thief (stealing both content from RUclips, as well as graphic artists, giving no credit or money, or telling them she is using it). Not to mention all that "I was harrassed and bullied online!" because someone sent her a deaththreat or said something nasty on Twitter - geez, back when I was active on RUclips, I recieved deaththreads as well but it's certainly not something I would make a big deal out of.
VidCon is a really cool thing, but this seems to blow in the face of their "everyone is welcome and included" policy. If they decide to let it slide, purely because of her gender and ideological views, I might reconsider what I think of the event overall.
If she was just complaining about the death threats and actual stalking I could side with her. But she seems to consider any criticism of her to be harassment which is a problem because she say a lot of things that seem quite idiotic. If you say she's wrong she considers it harassment and worse she is an activist against that free speech. If the speech is little mean or critical of her or other women (she agrees with) the perpetrators must be punished. Though somehow I get the sense she is ok harassing others or 'punching a nazi' (with everyone who disagrees listed as a nazi).

I think these people need to start using their brain but a crowd draws people it's human instinct. He needs to think about how much danger he put his fans in. When you become a RUclipsr with 5 million plus subs, you gotta think about more than just yourself. There were people who most likely traveled to VidCon just to see Logan. And if you see him, you are going to do everything in your power to interact with him. So now you and hundreds of others are in a stamped to get Logan's attention. Yes, the craziness is partly because of fans, but it is also due to Logan being there to begin with. And all the security sees is someone causing a lot of trouble. He doesn't know who Logan is.
I'm not convinced he actually got tackled. It looks like he had multiple people hanging on to him, escorting him away and one went down and pulled the whole group down.

Its funny she mention Franchesca Ramsey. One of the people there named Andy Warski has made far, far more videos and harsher criticism of Franchesca Ramsey than Sargon had of Sarkeesian. However at vidcon Andy and Franny met up, had a long conversation 1 to 1, made a huge deal of progress, and managed to put aside their huge dislike of each other. They acted incredibly maturely, made a lot of progress, and nobody felt "harassed" "intimidated" or any other form of victimhood. Anita needs to stop speaking for other people, she was wrong about Franny, she was wrong about rape victims, she was wrong about cripples, she was wrong with just about every single group she tries to speak for. It is known by both the experts in rape victim psychology and the victims themselves that her suggestions are some of the very worst one can follow.
As for cripples, she uses the same tactics of attempting to be the spokesperson for cripples as a form of exploiting it for attention and money whilst exclusively saying things the huge majority of cripples disagree with. A society which is both forced to support all disabilities at huge cost to itself or face even larger fines whilst simultaneously being given quotas and grants to encourage hiring of cripples isn't "deeply problematic" or attacking cripples in any way. If anything society is too far the other way, small businesses shouldn't be forced to pay tens of thousands of dollars they can't afford just so 0.6% of the population in a wheelchair don't have to ask for a little assistance. Or forcing disabled bathrooms in clothing stores and those unrelated to using a restroom (again tens of thousands of dollars). Or even forcing gyms, athletics stadiums and general sports training centres to add a wheelchair ramp or elevator next to every set of stairs just in case a cripple in a wheelchair decides to train in a specialized facility for the 100m sprint and doesn't want to ask a willing member of staff for help. Seriously, this is the state of it right now. And of course cripples getting preferentially hired above others at a significantly disproportionate rate far higher than the number of disabled in the country (and ignoring that many disabled like myself can't even work anyway making the numbers even worse) and giving grants or fines to companies based upon that number. All of it suggests society is broken trying to bend over backwards for cripples. And the biggest complaint of the again dozens upon dozens of cripples I've asked (support groups are a hell of a place for that sort of thing), that people treat them overly nice and they'd simply like to pretend to be a normal person. Again its a case of Anita saying a bunch of lies which bears no relation to reality, asking for the very opposite of the desires of the group she intends to exploit, and generally making life noticeably worse for both the group she is "helping" and the rest of the world forced to bend to her whims and slowly getting pissed off at the group she claims to speak for.
Basically she is exploiting both, she is doing the opposite those she "speaks for" desire in both, she is making things very noticeably worse for both, and I'm sure its quite clear how much I dislike her behaviour. Exploiting other people's life-ruining problems for attention and money is bad enough, but damaging their lives in addition to that is a lot worse especially when her sole claim to authority is that other people are the damaging ones.

Sargon critiques her platforms, he exposes her lies, he asks people to take a good look at what this sort of activist is actually doing for womens rights and he also does it in a very logical, calm and FACTUAL way. I can't stand Logan Paul. You can't tell me he did all that for any other reason than to fuel his own ego. He was being a nuisance on purpose and it makes me angry that he's causing needless trouble - that is potentially incredibly dangerous, maybe he isn't 100% responsible but an instigator - and he does that, disrespecting the work Hank, John, and the entire VidCon staff has put in.

In Logan Paul's case I'd say he's at fault. When you know your fan base is a bunch of crazy 12-year olds, you shouldn't pull shit like that. His core fan base would run up to him and scream, whilst your core fan base would say "Hey, it's Phil!" And shake your hand. He's at fault.
I think if you show up somewhere with the intent to cause a scene and someone gets hurt in said scene, you are at fault.
I mean i completely agree that he's at fault, he did some crazy stuff that he should've known would cause a ruckus and is exactly what vidcon wants to avoid, but blaming it on what his audience is comprised of isn't exactly fair. Regardless of the age of your largest viewer base, be it 8 year olds or 72 year olds, the creators should be treated equally as if they did the same stuff.

I was at Phil's meet-up in London a couple years back and he didn't have security or anything as he didn't think he needed it but yeah, we were all older than 12 but we still crowded him (I was towards the back/middle so I actually was trying to get people to give him space but I'm just one small person) and tried to get a pic/signature, he fled the scene as it was a safety and security risk, which is why eventually he came back and you had to get a pass as he had to pay for security... so no, this just happens with anyone any age who has a large audience, which kinda proves your point even strongly, if (mostly) calm and collected mostly 16-30 year olds can still put Phil in harms way, a bunch of 12 year olds are even worse.

The problem with Anita's statement is that she was clearly the inciter of that incident, she was in a position of power having a microphone and being a panel host and yet her statement implies she was the victim of something that simply did not happen. She wasn't harassed in this scenario and the people sitting peacefully in the audience had every right to be there. You cannot claim to be the victim and also be the inciter, that makes no sense.

Here's a perfect example of cyber bullying and cyber stalking and stalking in real life. Society still doesn't acknowledge how a sociopath can easily start shit online and cause a lot of emotional damage to a person. Then just show up and smirk and just sit there and use their mere presence as a trigger because they KNOW they've already created a hostile atmosphere. This is how sociopaths get their victims to look like the bad guys. I had an asshole at work that would whisper to me sexually harassing things even threatening my job because he was my supervisor. But in public and in front of our department manager, he was all sweet and respectful. He'd even say nice things to my bosses about me. So when i complained about him to HR and my managers, they would shake their heads and thought I was unreasonable. This is how a sociopath works, folks!
I have no doubt Anita felt harassed and her feelings are valid. The problem is she needed to keep her cool and fight fire with fire. Wait until he comes up for a question, or one of his Flying Monkeys and THEN logically and reasonably discuss how the online harassment and cyber bullying makes it so hard for her and other women to keep their cool now that their bullies are in front of them acting all sweet and nice. Anita should have requested an apology for specific comments done online. She should have searched her phone for screenshots of online convos and read them out loud during the panel and asked if said parties wanted to apologize. Poor Anita took the bait hook line and sinker.

Sargon has never contacted Anita directly. He has made a point of never contacting her. That way she could never misconstrue it in some way and use it against him and so that he can't be held responsible for any of his followers going after her.
The whole point of going in there was to listen. She barely ever does anything public so this was the perfect opportunity to hear her speak. They also went to other panels where other people they disagree with, such as Francesca Ramsey, Kat, and TYT.
