Melissa- you’re hearing the deep bass beat of the engines, with the over ‘whining’ of the violin-hydraulics.... to give you that “Carnival Ride Concert”! Great job Mike... I LOVE watching it.

Searched cleaning out pond ,and found your channel...watched both 1 & 2 of this video...we live in N.E. Texas - close to Ok and not far from Ark. borders...we bought our homestead property and are retired...the property came with two ponds...neither are huge, but big enough to catch some dinner for the night...these ponds have not been taken care of at all for at least last 10 years...maybe longer...trees lined around both and all the leaves fall into the ponds during fall/winter...and for the 2 yrs we've been here...we have gotten about 50 inches from Jan-May...so yeah, do not know how deep these ponds are now...neighbors said they used to be very very deep...but from when...we are wanting to restock our ponds with bass and catfish (one of each) and being older and living on SS alone...trying to figure out best way to get the ponds cleaned up and some "muck" out...hubby found a guy not too far that has a trachoe (excavator) that has a 12 ft reach...looks like yours is larger? rental is for a day with no more than 8 hours on the rig...fairly reasonable, but don't know if we could get both ponds done...hubby has a Kubota tractor and could do some work with that...we don't have a bulldozer...anyway...sub'd to your channel and all the info you may have is appreciated!

Around here maybe its the soil type but pond sediment is the last thing we put on a garden. Nothing grows and the soil turns hard when it get a bit dry. Once dried out though it sure makes a good road.

Good morning Morgan's! Melissa:. I know exactly what you mean about the sound of a carnival ride. Every year right after school let out, our local church hosted a huge carnival. We only lived a couple of blocks away, and we would hear the roar of the engines that drove all of the rides. What a great memory! In retrospect, I don't think there were any safety procedures being followed back then. In fact, some of the people running the rides didn't look terribly responsible themselves! Lol! Anyhow we're all still here! 😱😱

Mike, Melissa, Have you thought about a few small "dry-dams" up stream from the pond? If not dams of soil, a few old trees staked to prevent water from pushing them down stream. It would hold some silt from coming straight down. The CCC did that in many areas here in Southern Indiana to help slow down the effects of erosion and we can still see where it was done in some places. The other option would be to find some old utility poles and lay them across to make small dams as well. Just thought I would pass that on.

I've considered a pond on my Virginia mountain place, but you nailed it a couple days ago. Ponds and woods don't coexist well. Way too much woody debris constantly falling and heavy rains creating problems. Removing most of the trees around the pond would help with debris, but then you get more water plant growth so still a lot of maintenance. Since the pond was already there when you bought the place, it makes sense to keep it up. Nice video and fortunately you have the experience to keep that Kubota safe. Not recommended work for beginners.

Hey, Mike and Melissa, we're experiencing an ultra-dry summer here in Western Slope Colorado, about 20 miles northwest of Aspen. Couple big fires raging nearby, and it reminds us of having to abandon our home during the Lake Christine fire 2 summers ago. The Grizzly creek fire is now on the outskirts of Glenwood Springs, which is about 10 miles northwest of us on Hwy 82. Huge jet tankers are dropping orange fire-suppressant, plus a fleet of helicopters and 250 hot-shotters and local resources are helping, with more on the way. The Grizzly Creek is now the #1 fire-abatement priority in the country because interstate I70 has been blocked for two days, and the Roaring Fork Valley can't get groceries, mail, etc.
I hope you get some rain, but AFTER we do! :) Also a very, very smart call on your part to hold off on using that great burn-put you built.
Keep us mountain Coloradans in your thoughts and prayers!

On your stand pipe. Put a capon the end of the pipe fill with water and pour in 2 gallons of heavy duty drain cleaner. It will eat the organic material. Remove the cap and it will flush out than run a hose from a heavy duty pump water it to the discharge end of the pipe if it does not run out when you remove the cap. If it does flush it from the Lake end. It should clean it out.than get a filter cap for the end feed of the pipe to keep it clear. My brothers aunt’s pond had been stopped for 2 years running real slow and it worked, A guy who did ponds always
tried that first before anything else and it worked about 75% of small ponds before he did anything to the dam. Worth a try. Will not harm the pipes.
