This is where experience and wisdom is demonstrated perfectly. Any amateur would have driven that hoe right onto the intended workspace and become really stuck. You are a man with many skills and talents, Mike!
Mike and Melissa your music selection is perfect. I sometimes replay just for the tunes. Everyone has their own taste in music yours just happen to match mine. Love it.
You are pretty good with that excavator. I am 14 and help my family farm. I run our John Deere 350g excavator and my Grandpa yes the 850k dozer, i have been running the excavator since I was 7. I hope you have a great day.
Great job Mike, enjoyed the clips you put in of the work you did 9 years ago. Let’s folks know this ain’t your first rodeo on the pond!! 👍👍. It’s interesting watching you work and listening to you explain what and why you are doing something. Thanks for sharing with us and be safe.
There is something about watching a skilled heavy equipment operator in action. Having the machine be an extension of your hands moving smoothly and efficiently is a sight to behold. Great job Mike on the first stage of the pond dredging operation.
Hello Mike and Melissa. I am Larry from Forney TX which use to be a small farming community but now all houses. I always enjoy your videos. Mike it looks like you are doing a great job on the pond.
The video production was excellent using multiple camera angles with narration. Inclusion of the former equipment used with a history of the pond added more to the reason for the dredge work. You are to be commended for the only weekend warrior that works eight days a week. Please keep the productions coming as the episodes are entertaining as well as educational particularly for one flying a keyboard from SE WI. Thanks Mike.
Holy smokes! I had no idea that you had done all that work 9 yrs ago. What you were taking out now looks like nice and rich top soil. Yes, Mother Nature will see to it that it fills up once again. It's a nice looking area and would make a nice picnic or camping spot.
Good information on ponds in the woods. We are looking at having a pond built in a deep gully in our woods and you bring up good points to consider. Thanks Mike. God Bless.
Always learning from you guys. I've got a little pond on my property and its in a steep grove of gum trees - they drop a lot, a very big lot of stuff. I know I'm going to have heaps of maintenance to keep it going, but I can straight away see that the plastic-liner spillway will be a winner for me. Now I'm #SmilingLikeanOutdoor Morgan! Have day, hope you choose great!
Great video as usual! Mike, keep in mind that what you're digging out of the pond is excellent garden soil! Perfect for vermiculite too. That's money in your bucket!
Mike! Thank you for sharing your "vintage" photos of your early work on the pond! Always like seeing a before and after with any project. We are currently contemplating a small pond in an open sunny field, so hopefully we will avoid some of the issues you have had to deal with. We may be calling you for consultation services, though! 👏👏👍👍
Think your doing the right thing for what the pond is. In reality a big sediment traps by nature. But would like to see you teach Melissa to run the excavator she's good at learning how to run more equipment. You go girl 👍
Mike, your videos are really looking good! Love the multiple camera angles and the creative placement of the cameras. I know it's a pain in the posterior to keep moving them while you're working but it pays off in the production. Can't wait to see part 2 and beyond.
I enjoy your content. Have considered putting a pond on my property. After watching your video I think I'll just enjoy the natural spring on my place. Have a great day
I've got one that i need to do the same thing to. Now is the time for me to do that as well. I think you should do what you think is best & not worry about the negative remarks. Hope y'all have a blessed week.
It looks like you are doing a great job Mike , you always take your time to pre plan what you want to do . It pay to be careful doing pond work. Great content as usual 👏 👌
Thank you for sharing. I think you idea of building a small dam at the head of the pond will reduce the amount of sediment going into the pool and you will be able to clean it out easier Great work. Your having to much fun.
"What can go wrong".....Catchy Title Mike, we know that piques interest....but us old timers here also know that when Mike has the controls there ain't anything gonna go wrong! Good work Mike! Pie Town Larry
I loved the old pictures. Damn you were ambitious back when you dug out the pond. You haven’t slowed down much. A speaker at a supervisor seminar said to “Never Should On Yourself!” I didn’t think that you should have done anything different. Keep up the great work!
Hello Mike, Here's a thought for making the bucket smoother when you drag soil to you. Get one of your friends from the maintenance workshop cut a section of dozer blade (old scrap) long enough to to place Infront of the teeth and then another plate behind the teeth so 2, 1/2-3/4 in grade 8 bolts to clamp it in place, this way you will have 2 buckets in one and it will let you drag back with a smooth bottom. Just a thought. God bless and thanks for all that you share.
@@MrValhem265 the part I'm talking about would just bolt on without any modifications to the bucket and wouldn't cost anything to make other than two bolts.
OMG! Can’t tell you how satisfying it is to see you working on this! That dirt looks like brown gold. I would be willing to bet it would be the absolute BEST topsoil you could ever use around the new building. Brought me back to my younger years playing with Tonka Toys😊 Marcus from Chesapeake VA.
Looking good Mike! I hear you about the sediment buildup! At the far end of our pond the willows and cattails are creeping in, but the beavers are trying to make it deeper! It is what it is! Just have to go with the flow, pun intended!
Mike, that was a great video! You are a Master of making videos. The camera setups were excellent. The narrative was instructional. I really enjoyed watching it! Thanks for capturing and producing it. From
Nice to find out more about the pond and what it had for a liner! I had been looking for a piece of rubber lining around the edges in some of your other videos.👀😁
Good morning Mike this is Mike from Mississippi..About to head to our land out in the country to do more cleaning up.. Removing hedge bushes that have been growing for 12 to 15 years unchecked.. Cutting trash trees and general cleanup.. Will be using a mini excavator soon. Then I will speed up the process. Have a day!👍❤️
I have a property that I need to cut a driveway on. I think I need an excavator about the size of the one you are using. My feeling is that you are making some of the operation look easier than I think it may be for someone like me. My first job was on a farm, I worked through college landscaping, so I have run some machines. Tractors and loaders I have used a lot. I have not used a backhoe or excavator. I am on the fence about renting a machine or hiring a professional to do the work. I do love the feeling of accomplishment when I look at the land and know that I did it. You have made my decision harder.
Here is a thought: Do a split screen showing you doing what it takes to operate the excavator, (levers, foot pedals, joysticks etc.) and the other screen showing what the machine is actually doing. Thanks for the great content!
Well, Mike. Thought I would drop you a line or two as I've been watching your channel for a few months now. You actually solidified my choice in getting my Kubota L3301 tractor after watching you work with your old L3901. Anyway, I think Ole Chris (letsdig18) would give a thumbs up to what your are accomplishing without the use of mats or logs. We all have our own ideas of what would be the best method of attack (as all backseat drivers do) but what matters is your goal is being accomplished and that's the bottom line. And you're working with safety in mind as well!
Looking good Mike, I am sure it will be great when you are done. I dont know you personally but you seem like someone who does it right and then goes a little further.
Letsdig18 , old Chris would be a great channel to watch . He does a lot of ponds and creeks and I've watched a lot of his videos where he tested the waters and got out of places that I didn't think hw would be able to . Just a recommendation .
Still hot an humid here in East Tennessee! Looking good Mike! The less time I sit or travel on silted fill the better I feel! LOL Keep up the good work, and videos, and tell Hunter hey, and the rest of the Morgan's too! 👍

Mike, you are an awesome operator, so whatever you do is good for me !!! Lol. Thanks for the insight into ponds. I'm in South Carolina and have a spring fed creek running thru my property. I'd like to do a small pond but have huge limestone issues. Boulders that are probably bigger than a house on one side.
Mike ‘you should’ (LOL) gives us 5-6 hours of you operating this Excavator. Very relaxing and enjoyable. Thanks for the video! Ah? Where’s Hunter to check the work?
Hi Mike, we are entering into the winter season with some very cold days and early mornings - nothing compared to your climate extremes - however cold enough for us on the east coast of NSW Australia. I think it is about time you updated your background music away from "My Darling". I watch your videos on a daily basis and share some of the dreams that you and Melissa enjoy on the farm.
This is where experience and wisdom is demonstrated perfectly. Any amateur would have driven that hoe right onto the intended workspace and become really stuck. You are a man with many skills and talents, Mike!

Hey Mike,
*You SHOULD* post more pictures of when you were digging out the pond 9 years ago!! Those were awesome!!! :-)
Thanks, Good Sir. Have a Day!!
I enjoy the picture in a picture view. I can understand and see much better.
Watching this after spending all day in a pond, not just scratching around the edge makes me just shake my head.
Amazing how wet that stuff is even after 2/3 months of no appreciable rain. Nice work Mike.
Master operator at work. Mike, I am amazed at all of your 'handy-man' talents...Well done.
Good morning Mike. Nice work with the excavator. Do it how you want...you're running the controls.
Great Work way to be cautious on your stability on the soft ground!!👍👊
enjoy your channel very much have a great day.
Thanks, you too!

Hey Mike. Yep you have operated one of those before. Smart to check the place where you're going to be sitting. Good job my friend.
