Vincent, I recall you used to make those head to head videos I think the high end Philips would make for a very interesting basis of comparison for such a video as it sit in a very interesting space where it's pulling in ideas for Samsung, Sony and LG and adding a few twist of it's own as well as doing what some of the cheaper manufacturers have discovered they can do to get some attention so It would be interesting to see where it comes out in such a comparison, especially in the niche features.
Oh and something fun I thought i'd mention did you know that the infra red frequency on an LG remote is the same on all their products so if you have a monitor and a TV in the same room they can affect each other. I asked LG about it and they said their is no fix for it short of covering the sensor up partially or full with tape.. Thought they just suggested to not have your TV and monitor in the same room
Regarding the shoes, give "on cloud" a try, they are the most comfortable I have ever tried.
Should do a test comparing AudioQuest and other HDMI cables. We would finally have definitive proof that spending $800 on an HDMI cable is a scam and does not produce a better picture.
Great video, please make the hdr settings video for Hogwarts legacy game for Xbox series X and LG C1. I love your tuning tips. I’ve this setup tuned by you 😉
Please review the 808 its out in stores now and pkease compare with the 807 please
Nice to see full format support, including HDR10+ and DTS, which are sadly still too rare these days...
Yes, and then they fuck up by including that shitty Mediatek chip that 5 years later only supports 2 HDMI 2.1 ports...no thank you, this is a no-go for me.
@@Miskatonic-University i connected my PC and Apple TV to my Soundbar. The Soundbar is connected to my one HDMI eArc port. So why do I need more than two HDMI 2.1 Ports?
@@Bierm0n You're not alone in the universe, I don't care about what you need, I care about what I need 😂😂
@@Bierm0n Yep, 99% of people don't need even 2 full HDMI 2.1 so there's no rush from TV manufacturers to pay for more expensive chips that would support full HDMI 2.1 on all ports
@@Bierm0n depends on your own needs like for me I got Xbox series x ps5 gaming PC so I need 4 HDMI 2.1 ports so I went with the LG oled cs
I wish we could reliably get Philips OLEDs in the states.
Philips used to sell tvs here in Brazil but the oled ones never came here, unfortunately:/
Philips is going to need to start selling outside the UK if they want to be a threat to LG.
Also LG already supports Dolby Vision 4K 120Hz with VRR? On 4 ports...
Without DTS passthrough on eARC and no KODI support. Other than that, LG is good too
No lg only supports 2 ports, same processor, same flaws ...
and they sell everywhere in europe at least.
@@vince207 what are you on about? LG have their own custom processor
@@zenyu94 i was sure they were using mediateck socs as well, my bad ...
but sadly having an ambilight tv now, i couldn't go back to a regular tv it's a major selling point for me
@@vince207 no, LG's C series and G series famously have 4 HDMI 2.1 ports, they were the first to do it and the only other brand to follow suit was samsung
I have a PS5 and a gaming PC, and I use eARC, so this doesn't have enough HDMI 2.1 ports for me. A shame that this is the case with so many.
same connected to a c2 oled i have 2 spare
I can never understand this. I'd gladly pay them extra money for adding those ports, but it seems Philips is just out of touch with gamers (or just in general with consumers).
@@zxbc1 it’s seems like your the one out of touch 😂
@@zxbc1 In a previous video, Vincent explain why this happened: ruclips.net/video/DN5k1LiDiYQ/видео.html
G3 it is
It's a shame they already dropped the 4 sided ambilight.
did they improve the compatibility with hue lights since the 803 series ? It's possible to add some but not possible to sync them with lower part of the screen
Hue lights and Philips TVs are manufactured by different companies (Signify and TpVision)
For a minimalist setup, that integrated soundbar looks pretty good actually. Of course the proof is in the testing.
Can it be removed? I have no use for it and its ugly.
@@neocodexx There's usually 2 models, 938 will probably have a more conventional soundbar design like the 937
@@vladdx but I don't want the soundbar. And I'm sure I'm not the only one. If at least it's removable it would be nice to know.
@@vladdx sorry, what do you mean with "conventional"? So it's like a separate attachment and not glued on?
If you could at least unscrew it that would be good enough.
Bring us content to the 27Inch LG Oled pls
Is full res 4K120VRR now supported in Game Mode or still limited to only work in Monitor Mode? Also any word about QMS-VRR?
We need answers for this, this is the reason I disnt buy the 807, I want to buy a smaller 887, also we need ro know the difference between the 807 and the 837 and the 857 and the 887
Any know the answer now?
Some of us do not have the slightest problem with these 2.1 HDMI inputs, because 2 HDMI 2.1 inputs would be more than enough for us.😀The problem for us is that good TVs are too expensive, not how many inputs they have
No, the real problem is that they still all burn in.
Monitors that can burn in simply aren't acceptable.
@@donvanvilet8466 I've got some IRL proof that even regular VA monitors (high end models) can burn in just fine as well, despite everyone saying that doesn't happen.
I would say you need at least 3 HDMI 2.1's, I have a Sony 43" X85K This is my desktop Monitor and with a PS5 plus a 3090 Graphics card which both use the VRR settings I am constantly being told by the TV that I should hook the audio receiver up to eARC's Port 3 which is currently occupied by the PS5 the only other VRR supported port is Port 4 which the gaming PC is using
The only other way around this would to also buy a 4k 120Hz Audio Receiver.
Nice to see what's coming from Phillips and I appreciate your content.
After this there is no reason for other flagships to not have all these formats available.
Yep including HDR10+ only costs like 5-10k$ to certify a tv model which is peanuts for any TV manufacturer.
I am now confused, should i buy 77OLED818 or S90C if i'd buy an ambilight box to samsung anyway?
Now its finally out would you still recommend going for the S90C over this or even waiting for the new versions coming later this year?
We had a Phillips when i was a teen in the 90’s. It was awesome. Toshiba were good back then too 👍🏻
Toshiba are still good, used one of their Satellite laptops for 7 years and still works good, well except for the power cable which I had to mend a couple times in the last half year.
Also the touchpad and battery recently died, bit 7-8 years is a good run for a laptop.
@El Cactuar thanks cheese dick 👍🏻
This looks awesome! I have govee backlighting but can't deny having the lights built in would be amazing
#GOBLUE
I have a govee TV backlight kit. The immersion v2.0 and it's nothing compared to the Philips ambo light. I put the govee kit on two different TVs. One with an isp panel and my current TV with a va panel. The govee kit doesn't match what's shown on TV even slightly accurately.
On my first TV I thought it was because it was an ips panel but it's barely any better on my current TV no matter what way I calibrated the camera or what settings I use.
You're better off buying a lytmi backlight kit. Don't buy the iSNOW kit. It's a decent kit and is much better than the govee but it lacks settings when it syncs to the hdmi input.
I mean there's no settings for it at all when screen sync is enabled.
I contacted them and they promised that they have brightness and saturation settings being developed for the backlight when it's syncing to the screen.
Another problem with the iSNOW kit is it has two boxes with three cables for the kit alone. It's a big faff to setup.
@@Steve30x I have the 2.0's as well. They're decent for what they are. The work ALOT better on brighter TV's. I had to put the white balance to a bluer color to get more natural color from them. I use govee's dreamview with their other products, so it's not an option for me to switch
I will wait for the review.
Cant wait to see the Sony 2023 Qd Oleds, i love Panasonic but I'm underwhelmed with them using the same design since 2019 for the flagship tv's. Also why no MLA for the 77 oled when youve got it for the 55 and 65?
I'm happy with any TV case that doesn't bend or break to be honest.
Do gaming features work on the non-hdmi 2.1 inputs? Could I do 4k 60 vrr on a regular hdmi 2.0 input?
Vrr is a 2.1 thing
@@mastixencounter vrr is possible over 2.0 but good luck finding out if itll work before buying
Phillips need to start selling in North America. I get they probably market analysed the viability of coming here, but i'd buy their tv before LG in a heartbeat.

Keep the competition coming!
Can you do a video on the best TV picture for up scaling standard definition broadcast channels?
When do you test the Philips 808 ?

Yet Phillips are using LG Oled panels for their TV line up? LG don’t need to watch out for anything as they’ll still benefit off of Phillips’ sales.

@666dreamboat: WRGB OLED, similar to the 42-inch LG C2. By now they should all be WBE OLED panels.
@@hdtvtest ty Vincent, you're the goat x
Is there a reason why they put eARC on the few HDMI 2.1 ports? Why couldn't they have used the other ports? Surely a basic soundbar doesn't need 2.1 features?
This seems like a weird decision, and basically a deal breaker for those of us who would use the 42 inch version to connect a PC, Console and Soundbar.
HDMI 3 and 4 have ordinary ARC support, so if your soundbar does not need eARC, you can plug it in HDMI 3/4
eARC is a hdmi2.1 standart. So it required a hdmi2.1 port. Having 4hdmi2.1 ports i would not care using one, having just 2 and I agree it sucks you need to use half of your ports only for audio. There is a brand which supports eARC on a “normal” hdmi port, cant remember which brand it was, saw it here on this channel.
i connected my PC and Apple TV to my Soundbar. The Soundbar is connected to my one HDMI eArc port. So why do I need more than two HDMI 2.1 Ports?
@@Bierm0n tv remote can control apple tv and many more devices. If you can connect everything to tv, you only have to use one remote. Lets keep it this way: someone needs more than 2 ports, some needs only one
Wonder how the philips flagship will compare to the panasonic flagship this year.
Depending on Sony's line up I could be interested in the 908 but is the speaker removable?
Great question ! Also on 808/908 from 2022 they had 4 sided ambilight which was great when you installed your tv on a wall, a now it's already gone
Can the 808 work in honest 4k120 with VRR in game mode? Or is it still limited only to the monitor's blurred mode? And will there be vertical compression like in 807 or is everything fair?
Did you ever find this out?
LG also need Ambilight
You can get there Sync Box and a HDMI 2.1 splitter to keep all the 2.1 features. Cumbersome but it works.
bodes well for the G3 in terms of brightness... gImme that 1500 nits @D65 in my eyeballs.
So Philips sells 77“ MLA panels, but Panasonic doesn’t? I wonder why? As Pana sells the smaller sizes, they seem to trust the technology. Maybe they bought so many of the EX panels and want to clear their stock first? Or isn’t there not enough production capacity yet for all customers?
Tough to say. Panasonic has always been behind on larger screen sizes . Vincent said Panasonic is not including the new Mediatek SOC because it came out too late into the development of the MZ2000 to add it. Maybe somehow 77" MLA missed some development timeline for Panasonic.
@@vlcheish I would say we should wait till official release of the 2023 line-up from Panasonic is up. CES is not relevant for Panasonic as far as TV's are concerned. Those were the prototypes for technology show off. They mentioned that their lines will go on sale in autumn and same was now confirmed by Philips, so still a lots of time to implement Pentonic 1000 or come up with 77" MLA. Atleast I hope so, fingers crossed.
@@miroslavduris6435 Thats not true at all. Practically every year Panasonic gives a decent peak at their TV lineup map at CES. You can literally watch all of these videos on this channel from the past 4 years at CES from Panasonic and every year the information at CES is accurate as far anything major. Now is it possible Panasonic deviates from this? Maybe but that would be completely new and wishful thinking.
@@vlcheish No, you're wrong. Since Panasonic pulled out of the U.S. TV market in 2016, they presented at CES only top of the line TX-xx xZxxx models as a technology demostrators. U.S models had prefix TC instead of european TX. Complete line-up for given year was announced at Panasonic Europe Convention held in various european cities usually in march time, which they later shifted to april and actually last year it was in May time. U can check CES press releases for those years. They barely mention TV tech at all. They completely shifted their focus to different products. Now, this doesn't automatically mean they will update the MZ2000 specs but, we can't rule it out, especially if they announcing availability in autumn time.
@@miroslavduris6435 You need to reread my comment. I did not say they gave a FULL lineup of every Panasonic TV to be launched at CES, I said they gave a decent peak at it. What I mean is majority of relevant/big specs for their TV lineup is announced at CES. It has been this way for years. Panasonic already stated there is no new Mediatek SOC this year nor 77" MLA version. You're speculating Panasonic is going to now completely deviate from what they announced which there is no basis for that comment. There has never been any history of Panasonic changing anything major that was announced at CES.
Who knows why the top TV SoCs are only from Mediatek and has no competition from Qualcomm
I love Phillips Tvs, just bought one recently. they all mentioned gaming but never put info about input lag!!! Like why
Their input lag is completely fine. For the current model (807) it's around 16ms at 60hz.
Is burn-in still a thing these days?
What kind of option exist to remove or change the standard Philips screensaver, does Aurora offers option here? Alternatively, is it worth to downgrade and go with the Xtra directly? Thanks
The integrated soundbar is ugly as sin. Can it be removed?
So is there no 'new' top of the range 937 i.e 938? Only recently finally managed to track one down to have a look at and wow. Now 4 sided ambilight seems to have fallen by the wayside & no mention of a successor 🤷
@Stephen G: Correct, there's no 938 or four-sided Ambilight in the pipeline in 2023.
@@hdtvtest Do you know if the soundbar can be removed from these models that include it? For those that use real speakers with avr this tacked on soundbar looks ugly and cheap and totally ruins the look of this premium TV.

@stru9286: Correct, all of Philips 2023 OLED TVs including the 808 will have a maximum of three-sided Ambilight.
@@hdtvtestPlease may I enquire Vincent what the reason for this may be? Can it really be cost cutting on a flagship model? Seems strange to offer the 4 sided version and then cut it to 3 the following year. It makes such a difference when wall mounting.
Your 807 is fine - why would you upgrade to 808?
@@GroteGeer to be honest 9 months on I am genuinely blown away by my 807 and happy I didn’t hold out for the 808. As I wall mount I have disabled the bottom Ambilight anyway as that row are to close to the wall to diffuse like the top and sides do. Looking forward to buy 65oled908,too bad soundbar is integrated, wish it could be detachable.
If you are into better sound, from the Arcam AVR11 upwards, these receivers have 8 HDMI 2.1 inputs so you can just use one HDMI 2.1 on the TV for the receiver, and plug everything into the AVR.
Great video!! So I have a question, I'm going to do my best to explain the problem. First I have an LG oled C2. While playing video games mainly call of duty and need for speed, there are small black dots. I don't know what to call it correctly. I wish I could attach a photo. For instance on my characters gun....on all the guns angles there are black fuzzy dots. Also on my characters back. This probably makes no sense without a photo. But it's not just on my LG. I have noticed this on other call of duty games as well. Any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated. I have tried every single song and nothing. Plz help!
Do you think the lg c2 42inch is still best choice for ps5 sim racing, im a little concerned about the blur after fast moving objects

@elcactuar3354 It came back to normal 2 or 3 times if it was the panel, it would be permanent, isn't?
And here I thought LG C1 had support for 4k 120 hz gaming. At least it says it's running that on my Xbox Series X in Dolby Vision. Do we really need the MediaTek Pentonic 1000 chipset?
Wait. It doesn't??? 🤯
LG doesn't use MediaTek SoC, the C1/2 have always had support for true HDMI 2.1 (4k at 120hz). Only the TVs that use MediaTek have this problem. This video is kind of misleading and without context you get the wrong impression of how Panasonic is leading, when it's actually been behind and only caught up.

Any chance we will see this in US. It seems to be a compelling product.
Rather unlikely. The basic problem is Dutch mother company has licensed the name Philips to TPVision for Europe/Asia and Funai for the US. The latter only does low end models that have no specs' similarities to their European counterparts. Trying to import one from Europe would be your best option, but then you will need a current step-down converter, an external ATSC tuner and obviously it won't be easy or cheap. I don't even think you would find a European on-line store sending one to US. You would have to find someone buy one for you and send it by freight.
Is this avaible to US? I never heard anyone bought high end Philips TV/moniotrs in US.
please cover some of the lower end Philips TVs like mini LED and "the one". most of us cant afford top OLED model
The ex oled seems nice but I'm not so sure how nice it'd be next to a short throw laser projector while I wait for microled to become more accessible and cust effective. I'm not gonna buy anything anytime soon but it's food for thought.
Have they finally fixed their ghastly menus with Google TV o/s? I was looking to pick up last year's model when it gets discounted, but if the menus are revamped I might have to save up a bit more...
Hey man, i really like your reviews. You have plans to get the odyssey g8?
Are these TVs coming to US?
Give me 240hz with black frame insertion. With dlss/fsr and other upscaling tech you can pretty easily get 240hz 1440p and then upscale it to 4k. If it doesn't have backlight strobing I'm not interested.
@El Cactuar I'm not here to argue. To me, it looks much cleared due to lower persistence time. It doesn't change pixel response, but on oled that already is so fast that you don't get strobe cross talk. If you don't like the feature - more power to you. To me, personally, i value the low motion clarity of crt like BFI mode.
Can you do a video on the history of SED TV?

I'm using oled 907 very happy with it.
Is Philips tvs available in the US? I never hear or see any of them in stores so I’m assuming not but I would love to have them.
Yes and no. There are a few budget LCD TVs that are branded as Philips in the USA, but they are not manufactured by the same company that makes these OLED TVs. When Philips had some financial problems and pulled out of the North American market several years ago, they sold the rights to sell TVs in the USA under their name to a Chinese manufacturer. So you can buy a Philips TV in the USA, but it isn't made by Philips.
No U.S. or Canada.
So does this mean better motion
I use an earc soundbar, a ps5, and a gaming pc. The idea that I wouldn’t even have enough fully capable ports to keep these connected makes these TVs a complete non-starter for me.
