dude instead of deleting the partitions individually, u could have just opened diskpart selected disk 3 and cleaned the entire disk. then you could have created the partition way more easily. otherwise, great video :)
I actually learned about the "clean" command shortly after posting this video. You're right it is much easier to be able to remove all the partitions simultaneously if that's what you're wanting to do... which is what I wanted to do in this video. I've pinned your comment so hopefully people will see our conversation here and learn that rather than selecting and deleting each partition individually if they want to remove them all simultaneously they can simply select their disk and then type "clean" and hit enter and be done.

Yes you can do this to see if you can salvage the files from your old hard drive. All you need to do is pull the drive from your old computer, connect it to an adapter cable or enclosure like I use in the video, plug it into another computer and as long as the hard drive is still working you can access the files on it like you would any other external hard drive.

But yah, it's totally possible to do. :)
QUESTION: Everything went perfect to right to the end. Then my drive didn't open up when it finished formatting like yours did. I tried to right click on the drive to open it, and the "Open" option was not high lighted so I could click on it. What do I need to do now?
hi sir may i ask so that i can fully understand... is the external hdd for laptop when plug into the desktop will work or not? your answer will be appreciated
In this video I back my data up before removing the old drive but you can back it up before or after. You don't have to format the drive like I do if you don't want to. I wanted to format the drive and clean everything off of it so that's why I show how to do that in the video. Hope this helps.
I'm assuming you're talking about the small rectangular socket with four metal pins? You don't need to worry about that. That's for connecting a jumper to, to enable certain settings but you don't need to worry about that at all.
yah you don't need to worry about it. All you need to do is plug the drive into an adapter cable or enclosure like I show in the video and you'll be able to plug it into a computer just like any other external hard drive.
No you don't need to format it at all. I just show how to do that in this video in case you're wanting to remove everything and have a 'brand new' external drive. You can simply connect it to your computer using a USB adapter or enclosure like I show in this video and you'll be able to access all your files just like you would with any other external hard drive.
Yes. You do not have to delete any of the files on the old laptop hard drive if you don't want to. If you pull it from your laptop and connect it via USB you can still access all your old files juat like you would from any other external drive. I show how to do that in the video on the premise that someone is wanting to take that old drive, clean it off, and turn it into a "new" external drive.
@@yoyomartines18 Sure. All you need to do is remove the hard drive from your old laptop, connect it to a USB adapter cable like either of the cables I show in the video, plug it into another computer and then you can access all the files on that hard drive.

The biggest difference with 3.5" drives is they require more power than you can get over USB so they have separate power cables you usually have to plug into a wall outlet. 3.5" drives and their enclosures are also a lot bigger so they're not as portable as the 2.5" drives and enclosures. But yah, it's totally possible to do. :)
What is the music in the background and why is it familiar
Would it be safe to use this cleaned out external drive for my ps4?
QUESTION: Everything went perfect to right to the end. Then my drive didn't open up when it finished formatting like yours did. I tried to right click on the drive to open it, and the "Open" option was not high lighted so I could click on it. What do I need to do now?
Thank you so much! This video guided me through the process easily.
hi sir may i ask so that i can fully understand... is the external hdd for laptop when plug into the desktop will work or not? your answer will be appreciated
Yes, you can use a laptop hard drive in a desktop PC.
@@Maraksot78 thank you
Hey man. Can i back up the data stored in my old hdd before turning it into an external hdd? Thank you verymuch.
In this video I back my data up before removing the old drive but you can back it up before or after. You don't have to format the drive like I do if you don't want to. I wanted to format the drive and clean everything off of it so that's why I show how to do that in the video. Hope this helps.
This laptop hard drive I have is 2.5 inch, I searched, but there’s this extra socket that doesn’t go to any one the sockets. Is that okay?
I'm assuming you're talking about the small rectangular socket with four metal pins? You don't need to worry about that. That's for connecting a jumper to, to enable certain settings but you don't need to worry about that at all.
Maraksot78
Oh, so ignoring it won’t be a problem?
Edit: yes, they look like pins.
yah you don't need to worry about it. All you need to do is plug the drive into an adapter cable or enclosure like I show in the video and you'll be able to plug it into a computer just like any other external hard drive.
Maraksot78
Thank you.
Hi , I am new to this. I have a question. There are a lot of data in my old HDD. Do i need to format the HDD before using it as external? Please help.
No you don't need to format it at all. I just show how to do that in this video in case you're wanting to remove everything and have a 'brand new' external drive. You can simply connect it to your computer using a USB adapter or enclosure like I show in this video and you'll be able to access all your files just like you would with any other external hard drive.
I did this and I didnt get the extwnd volume option. When I right click on it it just says help
I've got it to list everything but it still has extend volume greyed out
I have a HD case that is USB to Mini USB. Is that going to cause any issues? (Using the HD to store games only)
I get a data error ( cyclic redundancy check ) . How to fix this?
What if i only do the first step. Would the hard drive work??
thank you for the video sir but in my pc its showing that disk 1 unknown not initialized plz help me sir
Is it possible to save the files from the old HDD when it's connected via USB to my laptop and the new SSD is in the laptop?
@@Maraksot78 thanks for answering but could you elaborate? I don't understand how to do it
@@yoyomartines18 Sure. All you need to do is remove the hard drive from your old laptop, connect it to a USB adapter cable like either of the cables I show in the video, plug it into another computer and then you can access all the files on that hard drive.
Oh okay, I did exactly that but when I try to open the users folder it never loads
@@yoyomartines18 hmm... that's interesting. It should open. Was this hard drive working normally before you pulled it from the laptop? Or was the laptop not working properly and that's why you pulled the hard drive?
Thank you so much!! This is exactly what I needed.
Did the trick! Thanks, you're the best!
Thank you very much for this video!!! it was SUPER helpful!!! you got yourself a new subscriber!!!
When I connect my internal hard drive by USB and check disk management it show no media so can you help me in it
so you removed an old hard drive, connected to to a USB adapter like I show in this video and when you got into disk management it's not showing up?
@@Maraksot78 yeap
May I ask what the old hard drive was from? Was it from laptop? Game console?
@@Maraksot78 it's from laptop
