Miranda you have such an excellent way of getting things for everyday life and turning them into little luxuries that make living so special!I can just imagine the beautiful kettle is boiling for a cup of tea served on a beautiful tray!The aroma of freshly polished furniture and candle burning, perusing and reading great books from the book trough and sending a card to a dear friend!And of course not forgetting wearing a chic dress with a matching lipstick!Every blog you do is just so very perfect ! I forgot to mention that I had a good giggle about the "middle aged" furniture polish. It reminded me of a conversation I had a decade (or so) ago with a friend when we both admitted to loving the Swiffer Duster. One really has to find the small pleasures that make cleaning a good (and possibly Zen) experience.
It’s a while since I visited the Mouseman museum and shop, so it may have changed, but I remember the romantic little garden in front of it which had white standard pompon roses underplanted with lavender. There was also a little mouse carved on the wooden gate into the garden. From the back of the cafe the huge white horse carved into the hillside used to be visible. If you go back it may be worth asking about it. One of my particularly favourite things has been velvet wristee gloves and a snood from Anna Falke in the most gorgeous aubergine colour. It’s well worth having a look at her website. I enjoy your videos and really look forward to them. You’ve given me the impetus to read the Nonsuch again after many years, which has led to several other Georgette Heyer books. Many thanks.
You are absolutely right about cleaning products having a scent that makes you happy! If you have to clean, it might as well bring you joy. All of our simple tasks are an opportunity to bring beauty. I love your Favorite Things series!❤️

What is life without a little luxury? As you demonstrate, luxury needn't be wildly extravagant. It can be a delicious cup of tea or a beautiful candle. I am with you on scents. I like my house clean and beautifully scented. I am definitely trying the Method wood polish. Wishing you and Donna a fabulous - and luxurious - Galentine's Day ❤️

Here's a little chuckle for you. I did indeed order Celebrating Charlotte after seeing it in your video. Today I received an email from the museum shop saying they had had a run on the book and this was causing a bit of a delay in shipping copies out. Now I wonder what may have caused that 😉 I also ordered that beautiful cookbook. Another lovely video, thank you, and all the best to you and Donna.

I SO understand you with the furniture polish! LOL I'm the same; it's so much more enjoyable to clean or polish when the scents are lovely. It actually makes you want to clean more! Method is a wonderful brand. The scents are natural and do not smell like chemicals as most mainstream brands do💐💖🥰

Ohh I did enjoy this video! I stopped at every item and went looking for it! I will be getting the furniture polish and I also found a whole range of their products I’m going to get. I found them on Amazon in the US.

I love Rosmund Pilcher's books, too. The first I read was The Shell Seekers with an older woman and dysfunctional families. On a trip to England, I went to Cornwall to visit Saint Ives because of her book. Fell in love with that area.

This video made me smile so much because it shows that aside from books, so many little things in our everyday lives - like good furniture polish, a wooden book trough with the cutest mouse ever, and the kettle with the fabulous chickens parading around - can bring so much joy. I discovered Burts Bees pigmented lip balms at Christmas, when I got a trio in Rhubarb, Peony & Fig. They are rich in antioxidant oils and have a refreshing peppermint taste. In your Thursday vlog you mentioned Miss Buncle's book, last night I picked it from the shelf and finished reading at lunchtime - oh how I love this book. The scenes where she goes and buys a hat and one or two more items for her new wardrobe and lunch with Mr Abbott! Needless to say I am just about to start Miss Buncle married! Have a great week.
A lovely collection of favourite things. It's always good to get pleasure from everyday things and I like Method cleaning products too, though I haven't tried the wood polish. I love the kettle you bought for your mum. I'm getting more and more tempted by the Skye McAlpine cook book even though I keep telling myself I really don't need any more cooking or baking books. The tisane sounds delicious and as I don't drink anything with caffeine in it will be a lovely one for me to add to all the herbal infusions that I enjoy. I always use the method wood cleaner,, love the smell. ,,lol. If you need a granite cleaner,, the method brand is also great,,smells like crisp apples

I suffer very badly from dry lips in the winter and at the moment I am having some success using the Aurelia lip balm in the morning and evening. "Winter Solstice" by Rosamund Pilcher has long been a favorite for me as well. To have such a lovely, signed copy by the author is indeed a rare and exceptional treat! To have received it from your dear mother makes it all the more special, knowing that it was found, purchased, and gifted to you with such a heart bursting with love makes it a treasure!!!

Oooh I spotted ylang ylang in that candle. I looooove ylang ylang. Anything that makes dusting really good fun is a definite favourite. I discovered a kitchen cleaner that smalls of my favourite Italian soap, game changer. Yorkshire Tea for the win. That book trough is fab. 🐭 Have a lovely break.

The more I see that edition of Persuasion, the more I want to get a copy for myself! Also, if you ever visit Edinburgh I would recommend you drop in for tea at Eteaket tea room and check out their Big Red Rooibos blend. It is delicious, and no caffeine! They also do mail order.

I make my own wood polish by combining vinegar, olive oil and a favorite essential oil or some lemon juice . It works wonders for the wood and smells heavenly 😊

I love your book trough, though I had never before heard the term. I think I first saw one of these when I visited my one-time supervisor who lived in a tiny tiny worker's cottage in the beautiful Derbyshire town of Belper. There is no hall and you enter the front room which must be 10ft by 10 ft, with a sideboard along the wall by the door, and on that there was a book trough holding library books ready to read and then return. I loved that idea, and eventually found a second hand book trough in one of the charity shops near me. I realise that I now need to find or clear a decent surface to make use of it - and I'll keep on it those books I intend to read next, which are currently just lumped on my coffee table...
What a lovely list of favorites! The tea kettle is so cute! In the past, I’ve had a Russell Hobbs kettle because my good friend’s mother is British, so they educated me. I doubt I would find that one, though (I’m in California). Those lip balms! I have your complexion and hair color (Ha! It should be gray because I’m probably your mother’s age.). I use Method products. I love their laundry pods.

I can very much relate to being excited about cleaning products. I recently purchased a peony-scented counter spray and my heart and mind are now totally on spring 🌸🌷

I suffer with dry, splitting, and peeling lips in winter, and the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask has been absolutely wonderful for keeping my lips from drying our, splitting, and peeling. I saw that someone dismissed it as overhyped Vaseline, but the texture is not like Vaseline at all! I highly recommend it.
Other recent faves: The Rare Tea Company's Earl Grey tea, Alice Feeney's thriller 'Daisy Darker' (audiobook), fleeced lined tights, vintage scarves (for a bit of color and neck protection), ciabatta bread (with vegan butter) and chamomile as an evening snack.
I love the in Our Time Podcast! I have been listening for the longest time, there are many other brillint discussions too about other classic novels and literature if you are interested. I love how they take 3 different experts every time, gives some interesting listening; like the episode on Mrs. Dalloway. Come to think of it, it is also the only podcast that made me understand science haha

It doesn't sound middle-aged to love Method wood cleaner! I discovered it within the last year, and it does smell SO good! (Well, I am truly middle-aged so.... Still, it smells so good!) I've been thinking about A Table Full of Love since you've talked about it and especially since you baked the cake. I broke down and ordered it! I'm currently enjoying The First Time Gardener: Growing Vegetables by Jessica Sowards, though this summer will be my fourth year having a garden.

My brother made me an oak book trough in an arts and craft style. He has also built two of my most favorite bookcases. The kettle is beautiful as well. Thank you for sharing.
