@@RexRoach I had no idea. Back in the early days of email when folks were reluctant to use their real names I made up an acronym for Wild Bill's Bawdy House and the rest is history.
Nobody covers certain topics better than Rex. A quick tip, if you remove the ratchet mechanism altogether it will make your life easier. It's the first thing I remove when getting a new press.
You certainly can remove it and things will get a LOT quieter. I've tried it and right now I'm still more comfortable leaving it on the way God...I mean Mike Dillon, intended. It's a personal thing and I would suggest leaving it on until you have some time on the press. Let's face it, we don't have safety ratchets on our other presses, do we. Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment.
@@RexRoach I agree, if you're new to reloading, and auto-indexing progressive presses in particular, leaving it on would be wise. I've reloaded thousands upon thousands of rounds after taking them off, and haven't yet encountered any problems which the ratchet mechanism would have prevented. Everything just feels smoother, and as you mentioned, quieter without the ratchet. I'm not sure why they put them on the 1050 and not on the 650, both are auto-indexing presses and should be prone to the same problems if short-stroking the press. Please keep up posting all this great content. If you could make a video on the Star Universal/Progressive press also, that would be very exciting. It is after all the grandfather of the 1050.
I always look at your Dillon clips to make sure Im taking it apart and putting it back together without any extra parts left appreciate the time you put into this educational video and your others as well
Fantastic! You're the man Rex Roch, thank you very much. This video answered all my questions and more.
Thank you. It's not every day that I get compliments from a Florida TV station.

@@drobb4207 Oh, thank you sooo much! One of the very best groups on the 'net.
Hi Rex.
I can't find your old video when you load hunting ammunition, i think it was 338 win mag.
Has it been removed?
/Greetings from Sweden.
Alas RUclips removed it. Can’t show how to make ammo, you know.

That's a pity.
Can I find the video somewhere else?
@@c4ac4a29 I have the original but haven't a clue where else to post it. Any suggestions?
