I find that even my adult cavalier attracts people wherever we go. He is always grinning, and people say they think he's adorable. Its like having a perpetual puppy that people ask to pet.
Lovely! We brought our 6 months cavalier boy once to the grocery store and once to Walmart. We did get in the first time, but got refused after. We're still learning where he can go with us and where he can't.
Brings back memories when I first took my boy out to a Home Depot when he was a puppy- everyone wanted to pet him- which of course Winslow thoroughly enjoyed! Great way to begin his socialization as he has now been my service dog for many years. He worked with me at the Phoenix VA for 5 years - both the vets and medical staff loved him (I was a family nurse practitioner serving as the primary care provider to a panel of veterans ranging from WW2 through the Iraq/Afganistan wars). When I retired, a common refrain was "we're going to miss you, but we're REALLY going to miss Winslow"!
I live in Australia and have a cavalier the same age as Sherlock. It is always fun to see how Sherlock is growing. (It always puts my mind at rest that we are on the right track). Most weekends I take my cav (Teddy) to the hardware store to browse the garden section. He loves to smell the herbs and vegetables. Our vegetable garden has doubled since we brought him home. We love watching your videos! ❤
So Sweet! Every time I take my Cavalier girl shopping with me it takes twice as much time 😂 almost every person we pass by wants to say Hi and of course she doesn’t mind. Cavaliers are the best!
He's so cute. On my first shopping trip with my cavalier (she was about 4 months) she also had to say hi to everyone but then she met a stunning service dog in training and she admired him for quite a while. The trainer asked if she could try to distract him for a few minutes. He never lost his focus until Little Miss went belly up in front of him and started whining. Quite the hussy 😂
I always take my cavalier to any store that allows dogs. And people of course want to pet him which he loves. He goes so often that he will just lay down while I sort through the wood I want at hardwood stores or HD.
my little cavalier loves coming with me to the store. he has human friends to visit and they enjoy him, too. he obviously uplifts their day and they give him happiness, too. He thrives on outings.
I have been shopping with my black maltipoo since she was 4 months old. She is now 4 and love shopping, She never liked the cart so I just let her walk on a leash. She is black a beautiful color and always attracts lots of attention
Buongiorno, buongiorno, Annarita dall'Italia, felice di vedervi 🎉🎉🎉🎉🌈🌈🌈🌈🌞🌞🌞!Bella giornata, ciao Sherlock come siamo cresciuti!!!!😉 Bellissimo, ti sei divertito vedo!😊 Ciao Charlie ti vedo sempre più in forma!🦸♀️🌞🌻🌈💞💕
Our Mia, a Maltese with blue eyes, loves going to home improvement stores (the orange and the blue one) as well as Craft stores. Yesterday and today she got to ride in the ‘69 GTO and also enjoyed walking on her leash and met people. For Crusin’ the Coast. (She gets as much attention as the car 😜)
I find that the home improvement stores offer the best opportunities for socialization. Take your boy to Bunnings - they won't mind that a pet is in the store, he'll meet lots of people, and he'll experience lots of new sights and sounds that will help him to deal with similar situations later in life.
@@chaskat35 I plan on taking him to Bunnings soon but I’m worried he will start squealing - he gets excited when he sees people 😂 I take him to petstock and he gets a lot of attention there but people who go there do tend to love dogs
This is also how you create new Cavalier lovers😅 I have been seeing a lot of tri colors in commercials, but I think they're giving Cavaliers a bad rep. The commercials all for carpet staining products. I can't speak for all, but my dog rarely ever made mistakes in the house. I could probably count on my hand how many times she made a mistake and was usually because she a stomach bug. They're smart, and easy to train. You have to be there with them. They are people puppies. They don't like to be alone, but when they are, they are well behaved!❤ Good job Sherlock! You made more Cavalier fans today!
Hi Charlie.. Looks like You And Sherlock had a great day out.. Sherlock did so well and everyone loved him.. We know of 3 people who met our Cavalier and they ended up get a Cavie themselves.. Maybe that happened with people meeting Sherlock on his first day out.. Have a great day and weekend ahead.. Hope all is well..
I'm always so impressed by the temperament of the Cavalier! Sherlock seemed a bit unsure and "tentative" at first (a few little body language signs of being a bit uncomfortable with the environment) but then got right into the swing of things and seemed to enjoy the experience---particularly the petting. There aren't many dogs that could handle having virtually no socialization in that type of environment and handle it like Sherlock did. Bottom line: If you have a Cavalier, you can "get away with" this kind of thing. If you have another breed, not so much...I am always preaching the absolute necessity of careful and planned and positive socialization for puppies. Cavaliers (at least Charlie's Cavaliers) seem to be the exception and I'm amazed.
Sherlock did you see the Halloween and Christmas decorations at Home Depot? Sandy goes with me to Lowe’s. We love the Christmas section and Al, the people.
Yes - lots of Christmas decorations .... but I still hold to my old ways, and don't get into the spirit until close to Thanksgiving. Then I go whole hog.
Charlie, our Cavalier boy has been with us for more than 2 months now and we're struggling if we should walk him right away after he gets up in the morning or after his breakfast. He's shy of 6 months old. Thank you.
We live in a condo and once we dress up, he's already peed on the pepepad 😂 so we normally take him out after breakfast. However I heard it's not good for him since he could vomit or have other issues
When my black and tan boy, Charlie, was a puppy, we met someone on our walk who offered me £2,000 for him. My immediate response was that there's not enough money in the world to induce me to part with him - it would be like selling one of my children. Charlie is 10 now and still attracts a great deal of fuss and attention - which he loves!
I especially like this video, Charlie. Can you tell us about the painting in the gold frame by your computer? It looks very interesting but I couldn’t see much detail. I have been a working painter for 50+ years. Ruthy (RBG), the ruby, goes shopping with me often but is related to the cart! I am a huge, mostly silent fan, by the way!
When I judge a Specialty show, my expenses are covered, but there is no payment for my work. Instead, it's traditional to present the judge with a gift, usually Cavalier-related. This one was given to me years ago. It's a small reproduction on canvas of a painting by Vero Shaw, an Indian-born 19th Century English artist, famous for his paintings of dogs.
Just wondering @chaskat35, which colour do you prefer, and which colour variation do you think is the 'easiest' to get breed standard example, please? (I am in the UK hence spelling of colour! lol)
In my opinion, nearly every aspect of the Breed Standard is totally independent of color. Having said that, I have to acknowledge that the gene pool is much larger for Blenheims, so a breeder might have an easier time getting good conformation breeding to a Blenheim.
I find that even my adult cavalier attracts people wherever we go. He is always grinning, and people say they think he's adorable. Its like having a perpetual puppy that people ask to pet.

What a fabulous boy Sherlock is ❤
Stunning shopper! Sherlock!

Hobby Lobby, Homegoods, AtHome, and TJ Maxx all allow dogs in their stores! I take my Cav shopping with me all the time. He gets so much attention!

I must have had at least 15 people come up to say hi to my Benny, the last time I took him to TJ Maxx! He gets all the attention!
It's so fun to have a little puppy who makes everyone happy!

Que guapo es !!!! . Teniendo yo 2 cavaliers hembra a los que quiero muchísimo muchísimo tengo de fondo de pantalla en mi iPad a Sherlock 😂😂😘😘
Sherlock is so adorable. I'm surprised more people didn't want to interact with him. ❤❤❤
I love Sherlocks shopping trip! He is so adorable! You should take him to a pet store to let him pick out toys. I love watching Sherlock grow up!❤
Our Skipper loves going shopping!
Oh my goodness! He is such a sweet little nugget ❤️😍🥰😘
❤😂Sherlock you are adorable. You were so good at the store. I hope dad gave you a treat for being so well behaved. I’m proud of you sweetheart. ❤
Aw , so sweet ! I enjoyed watching those guys giving him hugs . Lol .. too cute!!

Oh Charlie, Sherlock could come shopping with me anytime. ❤
When you scanned Sherlock at checkout, the computer priced him at $6000. 😂
Sounds about right. However, it cost us A LOT more to get him bred and raised.
@@chaskat35 I heard that!
What an exciting day for Sherlock. Even my boy, who is now 2, has never been to our local Bunnings store (a hardware store here in Australia)

Cute video! By the way…I’m loving Rome!
Glad you're having a good trip. If you run into my cousin Carmen or her husband Luca, send my love.

Our dogs go out as soon as they wake up, and then come right in for a treat. After that, they often go back out for more involved potty needs.

Beyond beautiful. (By the way does Sherlock have a microchip yet? I noticed you scanning him!)
He has a microchip, but of course the bar code scanner doesn't recognize him. That's a good thing - I didn't have to pay for him.
