Hi everyone! Thank you so much for your lovely comments and warm welcomes!! We made it! We are still settling in so I likely won't get to all of your comments but I am reading through them as they come in and am so grateful for your enthusiasm and well wishes. It really means a lot. I will answer questions like why we chose Portugal etc. in a future video or a YT short, and for those of you wondering - Apollo came with us! I was so nervous and worried for him but he travelled so well. :) Thank you again and I look forward to sharing more with you! xx
I'm sure half of us are jealous AF about t his opportunity... and of course we wish you well! Can't wait for videos and pictures of Portugal. I've only been there once, and while Lisbon in summer is overwhelming and over crowded, Porto was amazing. And the coastline is a landscape photographer's dream! It's a great capsule, and I think it'll give you a great base to add a few special finds once you get there.
For your next trip, think about boxing up your summer items and having someone send it if you end up staying longer. I always find less is better. Have a fabulous trip!
This is so inspiring and satisfying to see how a capsule can make life so effortless and less stressful even packing for a 3 month trip. Love it! thank you🙏
It so depends on which part of Portugal you are going. If you are staying in the Algarve, you will probably not be cold. But if you are near Porto for instance, It can be a lot colder. You are on the Atlantic coast. Feb/March/April will not be warm there. I would not expect to be wearing shorts or a t-shirt there in that part of the country. Hope you have a wonderful trip!
In my experience with going from a cold climate to a Mediterranean one... indoor heat is limited and buildings are drafty, so you will be colder than you think. It might be better in the spring when days are longer.
I have been following you for several months and really enjoy your videos and ideas which are so helpful. Am learning to shop my closet and be sustainable with my fashion choices. Amazing what I can come up with. Enjoy Portugal!!!
I hope you have a great time in Portugal! As a Canadian currently braving multiple snowfulls and windchill warnings, I can definitely say that Atlantic coastal Portugal cold is a different breed, especially if you're going to the north. That damp cold gets me every time, even in the summer, so those sweaters will be your best friend!
Portugal just has so much to experience and discover. Every region is quite different. You have the warm stunning (and partying) Algarve beaches. You have large metropolitan cities like Porto and Lisbon. There are the mountain ranges where every town has an old fortress and some towns are from the Medieval Era. There’s lots of agro tourism and world class wine. The coast varies from north to south. You could spend a year in Portugal and not see everything. When my mom came with us for the first time I told her there is eye candy everywhere. She was bowled over.
I moved from Ireland to Portugal last June. I love living here. The people are so warm and friendly. The weather is great and in my opinion you made a good choice. Wish you the very best Portugal has to offer.
I love long term travel capsule wardrobes (since I slow travel for most of the year)! Thank you for making this video 😊. Please do more videos on how your travel wardrobe is holding up and your thoughts on anything you would have packed differently.
perfect timing, I am leaving for a 3 month trip this month, that also could be longer depending. good to start thinking about it now . enjoy yourself look forward to seeing portugal through your eyes
Lucky lady...Portugal! Such a beautiful country. I am jealous (not traveling right now, but would love to!). Have a safe trip and a wonderful stay in Europe!
Hi Alyssa! I hope you have a great time, here in Portugal! I think your travel capsule is perfect for the weather we have here! Such a clever choice! There are some fantastic vintage shops at Lisboa and good street markets where you can find amazing surprises! Hoping to see you in Cascais! Kisses!
Do you know good shops in Porto? Local brands, vintage and charity? I'm going this week and like to do some shopping but don't Want to waste time looking at zara znd h&m....
Dear Alyssa, what amazing news! Welcome to Portugal, I'm so happy to have you here in my country!!! I'm from Lisbon and if you need any information, it's a pleasure to help you. You did nice choises to ware here, this winter is becoming the hotest of the last years.😘
Thank you for this video. I don't have an exciting move to prompt me to choose an edited version of my wardrobe but I found your reasoned explanation of what you chose and why to be useful as considerations for sorting and decluttering my own closet. It really highlights the pieces that are the most flattering and versatile and comfortable! Wishing you a wonderful time in Portugal! Carolyn

I loved everything about Portugal. Porto was beyond expectations. The people, the city, the wine and food were absolutely wonderful. We were in a little hotel right on the Duomo with a balcony and in the morning we were enveloped in the aroma of freshly baked bread which I’ll never forget. Have fun, be safe and enjoy every moment.
Yes! I've had a Portuguese cork crossbody bag for about 10 years and it still looks new! It's very roomy, but because cork is so lightweight, it never makes me feel weighed down like some of my leather purses do. I'm glad I chose a timeless saddle-bag style for it. It looks "right" to me year after year. The straps are made of medium-brown leather, so it goes with many of my boots and sandals!
I am so jealous rn. Portugal is on my bucket list! Have fun and be safe!! I can't wait to see how you style everything you're bringing with you and also what you'll bring back...
Safe travels, Alyssa!! Treat yourself to something beautiful while in Portugal! Love your capsule wardrobe! Looking forward to your next video and hearing all about how the trip is going. I'm slightly jealous of your trip to escape the cold of Canada!!
Hi Alyssa, great capsule and I hope you will be able to travel to use it. Your remark that those shirts are button ups not button downs led me to look up the terms and I thank you - I didn't realize they actually refer to different kinds of shirts! So now I know I have only button ups since none of mine have those little extra buttons to hold the collar in place. My husband has both kinds. Best wishes, Linda
I am a Canadian who is travelling in Portugal right now. I am personally not fashion forward but watch fashion videos such as your channel. What is fun for me is seeing all the up and coming fashion trends I have been watching are already in place in Portugal and I’m sure in the other European cities. And the cork! It is everywhere.
So loved this video, evening though you are going to a warmer climate, it still gave me some ideas to finish off winter in Ottawa, which I love :) I hope that you had a safe trip and enjoy Portugal.
Hello Alyssa! I use to see your videos, but I only subscribe now, because I am from Portugal. I believe you will adore my country!!! The weather is great for february. The nights are a little cold, but you will find sun, sun, sun and a wonderful blue sky! I really hope you enjoy your trip. A big hug!
Alyssa...how exciting! Sending you wishes for safe and healthy travels. Portugal is on my bucket list and I can't wait to see your travel vlogs. Love the capsule and look forward to seeing you in the next shop your closet in March! 😃
Thanks again for recommending that convertable bag. I first saw it on one of your older videos when you had the beige version. I purchased the black. Unfortunately you didnt have the discount code at that time but i am glad you have one now. The quality of that bag is next level. It is a bit heavy and if overstuffed, does not work well as a backpack but it is a great durable bag. Its also a little pricy but worth it. It came with a little coin pouch too. Thanks for sharing. Hope your travel is fun & safe.
How nice!!! What a nice trip! Keep in touch and please share some images of beautiful Portugal, for us that are not yet travelling... Enjoy much your travels.
This is exciting! I hope you made it there ok! I have never been to Portugal so looking forward to 3+ months of hearing all about your adventures! Not to mention second hand finds that you come across 😊.
Thanks for the overview. I just booked a tour in northern Spain and Portugal, leaving US in April and returning in May. Less than 3 weeks, some of it "active" with hiking. The mix of activities has me a bit confused about attire!! But I'm looking forward to prepping my travel capsule with things that will be comfortable and useful for the trip and everyday home life.
It’s amazing that you are coming here!!!! You will find Humana stores for second hand but there are also other second hand stores more curated than these. You will surely buy clothes here. So the choices you made are enough and well chosen.
Do you know good shops in Porto Cataria? Local brands, vintage and charity? I'm going this week and like to do some shopping but don't Want to waste time looking at zara znd h&m....
3 month wardrobe in one carry on? This has to be the leanest packing. It was fun to watch! Have a fun and safe adventure in Portugal. Looking forward to see some authentic Portugal street style fashion when you are there!
When i was in Portugal a couple of years ago (in January and February), i wore my little puffer jacket most days and i was very comfortable. And that's what the locals wore too, lol. Oh, and the Portuguese cork bags are beautiful and durable. Enjoy!
My style is so similar to yours however my body type is much more curvy. But here's the thing, you have just taught me how I can pair down my current wardrobe to be more minimal and still achieve an elegant, feminine, chic look. Thanks
Have fun in Portugal Alyssa! I'm planning 2 months in France somewhere between June and October (still not decided obviously!) and this is incredibly helpful! Safe travel!
I’m so excited you’re going to Portugal! When I first visited Lisbon, I fell in love and felt it was absolutely my soul city 😍 I’m Portuguese and have been very often, and yes it does get cold! I find the cold there is more moist or humid, rather than the drier cold of Toronto/Canada. I found many times there My winter coat from here did not keep me warm at all. I also have a few Portuguese cork bags and they last amazingly, hope you find a nice one there! I hope you really enjoy it, it’s such a beautiful country ❤️
Awesome! I look forward to seeing your content while you are in Portugal. I am thinking of going this Summer/early Fall. Enjoy and bon voyage! Stay safe.
Enjoy Portugal! I visited in late March / early April a couple of years ago, and found the most useful thing to have was a pair of shoes with a REALLY good tread on them. Cities like Porto and Lisbon are all hills and cobblestones. And cobblestones get suuuuuper slippery when it rains. Shoes, or even low hikers with some ankle support, with a very grippy sole, are a must-have. I also found it useful to have my packable primaloft hooded jacket, which is a very compact warm layer that took me all over Portugal and Andalusia in spring. (And for reference, I'm a Montrealer, so I know cold winters... Portugal at this time of year won't feel as warm as you think it will. Bring some warmer outer layers!)
A couple of months in Montreal and now several in Portugal. I'm happy for you that you're able to do this and we appreciate you sharing your adventures with us. The wardrobe capsule is so well put together and gives me great ideas for travelling myself. I would add a bright scarf or two to lift my mood when needed but perhaps you're planning on purchasing one or two while there. And I would definitely get a cork bag of some sort - they can be found inexpensively and in all shapes and sizes. Looking forward to 'seeing' you from Portugal. Enjoy!
welcome to Portugal!! travel light, anything that you might need you can get it here. theres no better place to get cork items. or shoes. or jewellery. and food! i hope you will like the country and make sure you'll visit all you can, its small but very diverse.
How lucky you are to be going (in??) Portugal! I have visited only Lisbon, but loved it so much and would go back in a heartbeat! Have a fabulous time. Can't wait to see all the videos coming our way!
Welcome to Portugal Alyssa! Looking forward to see you here! Indeed, the weather here as been even warmer than usual (government has decreated severe dry in the territory). We should be in winter, but it seems like a solid Spring. About your slingback shoes, a piece of advise: it's hard to walk in heels because of "calçada portuguesa", which damages a lot the heels. I gave up using them because of that... At least, the thinner ones 😔 Wish you the best and enjoy your time here with us! Kisses!
Been lurking in your channel for a while now and just wanted to say that I love your posts and that of all the things I've seen you wear, I think you ROCK the shorts look! Bon voyage, hope you made it to Portugal!
Hi Alyssa. Hope you had a safe trip. I've been following your channel from Portugal! Could have picked you up at the airport if I'd known! Seriously now, hope you enjoy your stay and find nice second hand shops. And yeah, I'm pretty sure you'll find good quality cork items, you've come to the right place.
I bought the JMB backpack listed in this video. It is gorgeous!! I used it for a weekend and realize it is waaay too heavy to use regularly particularly on a trip when it is full. My neck was aching after two days. It weighs also most 2-1/2 pounds empty and really can be used in a pinch as a backpack as the comfort isnt there. As I said it is gorgeous and I really wish it was functional for me but you need a strong back and neck to use it comfortably. Sadly it was expensive and now sits in my closet.
You will love Portugal, Alyssa! Have you been there before? We used to go there a few times a year when our children were small as a friend of ours had a house there. The people are SO friendly. We even considered moving there at one time, and I am sorry we didn't do it. Thanks for the packing tips and outfit ideas. I am going to Spain in March, just for a week, and taking carry-on only, so looking back at some of your previous videos for ideas. Have a great time! Clara x
Alyssa, hope you made it to Portugal safely and have the most wonderful time! Thank you for being your amazing, inspirational, authentic self! I am certain that you'll be very responsible about any purchases you make, but would love to see anything you buy, and would also love to see some Portuguese shopping excursions, even if you don't buy! I still can't believe you made it through Montreal during your low buy!! Xx
Good for you! I liked Portugal (loved the city of Porto!) lots of cork items there! bags, belts, wallets even shoes!!!I brought back a lovely necklace of cork and silver combined!!!
Wonderful! Love your capsule. I could just live in what you have on the rack and be happy, but I'd need another pair of jeans, I think. Enjoy your long stay/vacay.
Hi everyone! Thank you so much for your lovely comments and warm welcomes!! We made it! @@annbraid7989 It can be nice. But it might also be cold. Layers is a good idea!
Just having you do what you do , is helpful enough. Enjoy your stay in Portugal 🇵🇹. ❤
In my experience with going from a cold climate to a Mediterranean one... indoor heat is limited and buildings are drafty, so you will be colder than you think. It might be better in the spring when days are longer.
That’s exactly my experience too!
I stayed in a home in Majorca when it was snowing, and I have never been so cold!
Awesome news for you, Alyssa! Can’t wait to see you share your adventure with us!

I was about to comment that too👍🏻
Portugal is the world’s largest producer of cork. You will find everything cork there.
What a fabulous adventure! Have a fantastic time!!

Oh how wonderful! My plan is to walk the Portuguese Camino in 2023--Covid permitting ;) Have an amazing trip.
I’ve been wanting to do that since I walked the Camino Francés a few years ago. The entire Iberian peninsula is so picturesque.
Yes! I’ll be in Portugal (I’m Portuguese) still watching even with more enthusiasm. :)
“ please don’t tell me in the comments, because I will have already left”. I’m dying…. Looks great, happy travels!!

How fun! My daughter loves Portugal, she has an apartment in Lisbon.
She & her fiancé plan to live there.
Have a wonderful time there.
An idea for packing necklaces so they don’t get tangled is to individually wrap them with cling film.
I've read a tip for this: before clasping, string the necklace through a straw.

Fabulous travel capsule! It feels so good to be planning a trip after these crazy times, We are headed to Aruba in less than two weeks!
Have a nice trip! Wonderful idea - enjoy it!
I hope you took the short sleeve striped shirt!! Have a wonderful time in Portugal, I've always wanted to go there!
Great choices! Have fun!
Have a safe trip and enjoy your stay in Portugal!!!🇨🇦
You will love Portugal, Alyssa! Have you been there before? We used to go there a few times a year when our children were small as a friend of ours had a house there. The people are SO friendly. We even considered moving there at one time, and I am sorry we didn't do it. Thanks for the packing tips and outfit ideas. I am going to Spain in March, just for a week, and taking carry-on only, so looking back at some of your previous videos for ideas. Have a great time! Clara x
I am Portuguese, and would definitely advice something for the rain. It can always rain on the Atlantic coast
Have great fun 😊, whats about a warm scarf for the plane and for colder days?
Alyssa, hope you made it to Portugal safely and have the most wonderful time! Thank you for being your amazing, inspirational, authentic self! I am certain that you'll be very responsible about any purchases you make, but would love to see anything you buy, and would also love to see some Portuguese shopping excursions, even if you don't buy! I still can't believe you made it through Montreal during your low buy!! Xx
Welcome to Portugal ☺️ The weather is great, but there is a severe dry, so we are all praying for rain 🙏! Hope you enjoy our country 🇵🇹
