Dad signed my vintage Race helmet at Oran Park 1998 ish .. I was shy and thought I'd be interrupting .. him , Dad , said "Wow what a beauty that is , I'd be happy to sign it " Passion and enthusiasm ( honed skill also) is hard to beat .. Thankyou Larry ..
Thanks for sharing!
Love the use of drink bottles in the boot.
Resourceful!
Good too see you back 😊 Cheers🍺🍻 KC
Say Hi to your Dad hope hes doing well 👊
Cradle mountain Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺🤝🇦🇺😎👍✌
Thanks! Will do!
Would be interesting to do a sound comparison between the 3
Yeah it would be, hard to do in the workshop, be cool to do at a race track!
I know just the bloke to do it.😁
As usual, the actual "Perkins Engineering" product is far more interesting than the cookie cutter, "control parts" (i.e. handing out juicy contracts, probably for equally juicy kickbacks).
The VP setup is stunning in its simplicity, effectiveness, and originality. What a golden era of Australian touring car racing and innovation that was.
Thanks!
Great work Jack another great episode! Glad to see you back! Cheers
Cheers!
Thanks from England.
You're welcome, cheers for tuning in!
Great to see the videos back. They are so interesting and informative. Keep them coming.
Cheers!
I would love to see a video comparing quick adjustments on all of the cars, ARB blades, Watts link adjustment and for COTF quick ride height adjustment.
Yeah we've got an Anti Roll bar episode in the pipeline, we can maybe cover the others off in the same episode or a seperate one, cheers
Very informative Jack, always good to see how things evolve. I’m using my Perkins Engineering stubby holder as I watch this video! 👍🏻🇦🇺
Haha good man!!!
cheers for that Jack, the 94 car and 2003 car are really nice set ups well made and reliable
Absolutely!
V8S pedal box is far less complicated than the V8S commentary box.
Cheers!
First of all Great to see you back and Congratulations on another addition to the awesome Perkins lineage. No doubt with Larry and your blood they will have that instinct to pursue excellence no matter what that may be (hopefully motor racing and engineering). Secondly, great visual explanation of the evolvement of what is arguably the most important engineering control for a race driver, the pedal controls. Great to see you back once again, say Hi to the old man, hopefully having a ball down on the farm. Looking forward to seeing more of you. You're a natural presenter and teacher and in amongst your driving gigs, would love to see you presenting more on the supercar technical side with Larko, of course if thats something you would enjoy. Big respect to Perkins Engineering, both yourself and Larry are cornerstones of motorsport in this country and indeed beyond.
Many thanks for the kind words, cheers and much appreciated!
Welcome back dad, and congrats. Quite interesting the differences in the footwell. Luv the bit of ply to get pedal just right for heel n toeing
Thanks!
As per usual, a great, in-depth view into the ways of the cars as time evolved. Well done Jack!
I read in another comment that you're planning on an ARB video in the future, which is awesome, and I really look forward to seeing, however, is there any plans to do a video on the suspension setup, given you would now be able to with the obsolescence of the COTF chassis thanks to Gen3?
Thanks!
EP 16 and EP 24 covers off the rear and front suspension.

Ya Jacks back. Hope you are well. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻👍🏻🙃🙃
Thanks!
Wow jack, what a fantastic video. I really enjoyed the engineering explanation and the detail. Please keep up the great content. BTW, happy birthday to LP.
Thankyou!
Great to see you back for 2023. ✌️
Cheers!
Thanks Jack. Great to see you racing in Newcastle too! Wish I could have caught up with you. Love the videos.
Cheers!
Thanks Jack love the updates keep them coming great to see the differences cheers
Thanks 👍
Thank you so much...👍
Welcome 😊
I've missed these! Great showcase of 3 very different set ups. Congratulations on the new bub!
Cheers!
Nice. Great to see this race engineering history.
Cheers!
It's worth the wait jack keep up the great context 👍
Cheers!
Great to see you back
Cheers!
Another awesome video great to have you back cheers mate 🤙🤙
Thanks 👍
Awesome stuff thanks Jack!
Cheers!
Amazing. Thanks Jack.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video jack 👌 keep them coming! Will be ordering some gear soon!
Awesome thank you!
Love to see ya back mate
Thanks!
Another great video Jack, great to see the differences on various parts of the cars. New Workshop? How about doing a factory tour video for us all to see.
Yes we have moved workshops, once setup properly we may do a video 👍👍
Can you do a video on V8 super car wheels. Always wanted to know who makes those 1 piece 5 spokes

Great to finally see a new video jack, been looking forward to it and looking forward to seeing more.. Can't see all that much of the new workshop but geez how tidy does it look!
Ps: you gotta get your hands on a gen3 car somehow jack.. 3 generations of racecar to compare is awsome in itself but having 4 would be pretty cool I reckon!
Cheers! Not a lot of spare GEN3 cars at the moment! None in fact!!! So that will be tricky
Hey Jack, Love your work 👍
Thanks!!!
Would love to see a video on the 180° crossover headers the Jack Daniel’s VE’s ran in I believe 2008
If i still had a set of those I would do a video on them, but without them it's challenging to do. Those pipes all ended up at Kelly Racing and then likely ended up in the bin....
Bugger! Components like those are what made me an LP and Perkins engineering fan. Thanks for showing us all the ins and outs of the cars I watched race growing up and even into the beginnings of my motorsport career
Welcome back jack 👍
Cheers!
Great to see you back again Jack. These comparisons between the cars are always fascinating. Are you driving Bathurst with a team this year? It'd be great to see if they'd let you include a Gen3 car in these videos. I know the pedal box in Gen3 is adjustable (somehow), so that might have been an interesting point of difference in this one.
It's amazing just how simple the 93 car is in comparison to the others. Is that a gear stick boot on the brake pedal? It's not stupid if it works!
I also like how the Perkins designed pedal boxes keep everything out of the way of the driver's feet, and don't need a false floor. Whereas the CoTF design just wants to be a great pedal box, but then you need to put a false floor over it to make it actually usable by a driver.
Yes back with Erebus for a 3rd year with Will Brown. Correct it is a gear shift boot used on the brake pedal. Keep it simple!!!
In terms of aerodynamics, what affect the side exit exhaust has when compared to a rear exit?
Well we've never had a race car with rear exit, largely because it's an incredibly difficult process getting the tail pipes to get over or under the diff housing and out the back next to the fuel tank/cell. In a Supercar i'd be surprised if there's any difference.
Love these videos mate, keep em coming. Also any chance of doing an episode on the I believe 180 degree header system that your old man manufactured on the jack daniels commodore? Cheers Justin.
I would love too, but i don't have any of those headers in the workshop so it's a bit hard without props!
@perkinsengineering That's a damn shame, I bet I'm not the only one that would love to hear about them.
What were the bicycle drink bottles in the boot of the 1994 overflows for?
Breathers/Over flows
Nice little comparison there Jack. Those hard lines to the reservoirs in the boot, did they reduce weight over the soft lines/reduce the amount of fluid in the system as the lines held less fluid? They look super neat though.
Not so much weight, they became more compact, less chance of irritation from the fluid as sometimes a rubber hose can react or swell to brake fluid.
The reservoir for the front brakes on the 93/94 cars look suspiciously like a VL 6cyl power steering reservoir 😉
Nah they're a "Castrol Girling" part!
Was there a panel fitted over the master cylinders mounted under the car, or were they open as shown when racing? I would be worried about damage from curbs/debris etc, although I guess you guys ran them that way for long enough it obviously wasn’t a problem?
No nothing fitted to cover them. They kind of sit above the lowest point if that makes sense, effectively under the drivers seat. Never caused any major problems 👍
Nice
Cheers!
The master-cylinders-under-floor setup seems a bit convoluted ill say 😄But why, did it make servicing easier?
Because of accessibility and location on the car
Any chance of a tour of the new shop?
Maybe, still setting it up properly and we've downsized - need to get it more tidy!
Wait, is that a hoist I see in the background?? ;)
Could well be!
Wish I could buy those Dymag wheels
You're not the only one!
Early girls sooo simple. Will jump on and ask the wife for some merch
Good stuff!
Far prefer your direction than the 888
Both have a few pro's and con's
That's not a hiost! You don't have to lay on your back to change the oil ?
Could be a hoist ;)
What does Larry think of the hoist? 😂
Not a lot 🤣
😜👍🇦🇺
Cheers!
how boring, a knurled brake peddle, different size cylinders, so boring, bango fittings, remote reservoirs, WOW so boring, even some group C cars had better setups with the remote reservoir mounted inside the cabin, in full view of the driver to watch brake fluid level, so boringggggggg
Sorry it’s not exciting enough!
@@perkinsengineering mate describing a knurled brake pedal, like really, you have access to some switched on dudes, how about getting part burns on, talking engine building, old 308-304 group c, to later group A engines ,camshaft specs ect, what comp ratios, what parts were used, specs ect went into these motors, how they cheated bent the rules, cut intake manifolds in half for inside porting and then rewelded together to hide, bring on some engine development stories with the guys that built them, you could do a series on all the different engines and eras, not brake pedals
You really need a wireless mic there Jack. The echo is annoying as it throws the volume off here and there too.
Love the videos nonetheless. Cheers.
Yeah we’ve got one and used it in the past. When I find them I’ll use them but for the meantime it is what it is
