- After our vacation cruise, we stayed in Florida for an extra week to find reptiles in the wild. We were not disappointed! We found so many that we have to break up the video into two parts! And you are NOT going to believe what we found in Part 2!!

The sadness in Ed and Emily after finding the snake in the road just shows how much they love and care about reptiles. They're amazing people!
😢 it makes me sad I love the noodles 😢
@@Alexandra-xd7fr Definitely not a mill. All of the animals are well cared for.
@@Alexandra-xd7fr Reptiles are very different than mammals. Please research more about captive bred reptiles before making such heinous claims. There's a reason Snake Discovery is continuously praised throughout the reptile community.
@@Alexandra-xd7fr And their ball pythons have large enclosures. They have only bred one ball python. Their breeding racks are mostly Hognose snakes, which are much smaller and don't need as many hides since they burrow.

The raw emotion from both of you when you had to put that snake out of her misery broke my heart, I started tearing up a little. I would never be able to handle something like that
I know it’s hard but you’re letting them suffer if you don’t. To me that’s way worse than taking them out of their misery. It sucks really bad but it’s the right thing to do and you’re doing them a favor.
I was crying, not just because of what happened, but because of how destroyed Ed looked. I don't know if I've ever seen him look so hurt and anguished before. A few close friends and I all watch Snake Discovery and I went back and forth over that section multiple times to get the time stamps so they could be warned and watch it when ready because of how much we all love reptiles, Ed, and Emily.
It shows how much they care about reptiles. They didn’t want her to die but they knew she was suffering so they did what’s best for the animal. Emily and ed are amazing people
Sadly have done it about 10x. Worse was a 6 foot thick Texas ratsnake now called western ratsnake here in Houston, Tx. Took us a good 5min of our SUV over it for it to stop moving. 😢
My mom and I once hit a cat with the car (I have three cats myself) and all we could do for her was to hold her through her last moments.
We had a vet identify her and inform her owners etc.
It saddens me so much that people don’t feel that same horror for reptiles or smaller mammals like hedgehogs.
They all deserve dignity
My heart broke for ed and emily, the sadness they both felt for that water snake was so evident on there faces. This is why we all love them, they care so much ❤❤❤
I am crying after hearing that
*their
Emily's "NO NO NO! LET ME LOVE YOU!" attitude is the most enthusiastic toddler with a small, fuzzy, creature attitude and I am SO HERE FOR IT!!!
Can u add a time stamp
Thank you for doing what needed to be done with the water snake. I truly hope nobody actually hit her on purpose, but with how cruel people can be to snakes, I wouldn’t be surprised. Thank you for helping educate people on these wonderful animals, and hopefully preventing people from doing things like that in the future.
Once my dad broke a Cotten heads back trying to get it away from me. It floated down the creek. I was really upset dangerous or not some animals don’t deserve to lose their lives just having some venom in their body. It’s really sad.
@@ashleykauffman3712one time a cotton mouth had gotten into our porch and our cat Scarlett caught it with her paw and held it there for who knows how long before we noticed. Mom cut its head off with garden shears. It’s unfortunate, but if it bit Scarlett it would have killed her and if Scarlett hadn’t caught it, it would’ve bit me (I was very little at the time.)
Ed & Emily……Thank you. I’ve lived in south Florida for all of my 62 years. I have euthanized 3 snakes that were hit by cars, still alive but way beyond help. It’s the hardest, yet easiest decisions I’ve made because I can’t stand to see any animal suffer. I’m so sorry she was gravid. That just makes it so much worse😢
Condolences and thank you for putting the injured snake to rest.
Why would people do those horrible things of running them over instead of stopping and getting out of the car re directing it to the direction their crossing instead of running them over 😢
It’s a very sick thing to do!
I’m just glad the injured snake can finally rest in peace without suffering the Excruciating pain!
@@aleyshamahtab7268 Sometimes people just don't see them unfortunately, as they can look like debris on the ground. If the person who hit it actually did see the snake and did it on purpose? Then that's absolutely vile. We will never know sadly.
What matters is the snake isn't suffering anymore, thanks to Emily and Ed as hard as it was for them. I hope they gave themselves a good mental health break after that.
@@PastelKaijuyou're right, watersnakes really do look like sticks from a car.
@@aleyshamahtab7268 Sometimes you can't see and sometimes if you see you can't brake because of the speed you are going. Sadly it isn't always a question of being vile or not
That poor momma snake🥺 I know it was hard, but at least she didn't need to suffer any longer. You guys are very strong and brave for handling that so well.
All of the other snakes were so amazing! The scarlet snake was my favorite!
The garter snake was my favorite
This is exactly why we NEED reptile advocates like you both! I hope someday relatively soon, I can help educate people in NY about our beautiful friends. ❤
I started watching these videos after having snake egg cutting videos recommended on my feed. Watched it because I was intrigued and have continued watching since! I used to hate snakes and thought they were dangerous. I wasn’t very knowledgeable of snakes and they made me nervous. Now I’m thinking about getting one as a pet. You guys do make a difference! I love the passion y’all have and you guys are great advocates!
**just in case y’all needed a reminder about how important it is for you to continue teaching people to appreciate snakes!!
I absolutely agree with this! They are the reason I bought myself a ball python! These people are amazing.
The pain on both of y’all’s face when you had to describe what happened to the gravid water snake absolutely broke me. My neighborhood is near a forest so I’ve had to do the same to some of the snakes that live in my area. I know that pain.
It’s impressive Emily can catch snakes even while holding the camera
I'm convinced she can catch em blindfolded
15:54
I know its sad but i can tell just how passionate you still are about reptiles based on your reactions to the gravid water snake and i appreciate it
Wouldn’t anyone to seeing that? That’s so sad! But I do agree.
When I was a kid, my family went on a cruise, and we stayed in Florida for a week afterwards. Our favorite part of the day was the midday monsoon because we would catch a ton of frogs, toads, and even a couple snakes afterwards. Every time we talk about that vacation my sister and I always say, "remember how many frogs we caught on that vacation!?" One of my best memories.
I’m so sorry to you both. Some people are genuinely awful in their disregard for things deemed as “different” or “creepy”. I wish I could hug you both, you both looked absolutely devastated.
Ed your face was showing your raw emotion and I sobbed. Emily you too. Thank you for doing what you do and thank you for keeping if it real xox much love and many hugs x
14:00. I was one of those people who were afraid of snakes (mostly due to media telling me all snakes are going to bite you and that bite will likely kill you). I started watching you during an extended hospital stay in high school. I’m now almost done college and have beat that fear. I even caught my first ever snake (a plains garter) a few weeks ago while at work!!!! Ahahaaa
Snake be snaking
He do be snaking tho
Mad respect for you with the snake in the road, it's not easy but knowing you care enough to put it out of its misery whereas a lot of people would just drive on by is big props. It's a pity the babies couldn't be saved.
Thank you for your kindness toward that poor car-struck mama. So sorry you had to deal with that.
It hurts to se animals suffer, Good thing you came and could end the suffering, but it is hard.
That's a real shame about the gravid water snake. I'm glad you all did the right thing, even though it must have been hard to do.
I have 100% seen people purposely hit snakes with their cars. Hopefully this case was just an accident. I’m so sorry you had to deal with that poor mama snake, but you know you did the right thing for her. Great educational video. Visiting family in FL this year so hopefully we will come upon some of these fun species.
I legit try to stop for BIRDS when their going across the road. Im always careful.
As an owner of 5 reptiles and 5 non-reptiles, you are an inspiration to us. Bc of you I got all my pets
Oh gosh, that sounds like quite the house full! I would love to have a full on menagerie, one day. If you don't mind my curiosity, what pets do you have? How did you decide what reptile to get first, and how did you find the first-time owner experience? Sorry, feel free to ignore my nosiness!
I agree! Owning 2 reptiles and 56 (I believe) non-reptiles, I love snake discovery!
@@katbairwell Of course, I have 2 leopard geckos, 2 bearded dragons, a chamelion, 2 dogs, 2 gerbils and a fish. My mum noticed that I love reptiles and animals so she told me 2 months before we got my first leopard gecko that if I carry on researching that i could get one. She mainly got be one since I love watching Snake Discovery ( this was years before the zoo opened ). Ever since then I've been watching Snake Discovery.
Oh how lovely! I am super jealous!
I was tearing up when you told us about that poor gravid water snake.... It's terrible... 😢 Still, I want to stay positive, so... Can we talk about that GORGEOUS blue garter snake?! Soooo pretty! 😍
The sadness in both Emily and Ed’s demeanor broke my heart, you can see that raw emotion and hurt, my heart hurt with them😢. It’s people like Ed and Emily that’s truly being awareness and new hobbies for people like us all in the snake discovery family
I love the emotion and enthusiasm you guys show when you find something.
Sorry about the tough choice you had to make, but I’m sure she was better off not suffering anymore.
It’s devastating what happened with that gravid water snake and as horrible as it is I’m glad Ed and Emily shared that and what to do if you encounter the same situation. It’s a good thing they came through to make sure she didn’t continue to suffer
You two are just brilliant. So sorry you had to put that poor mama snake out of her misery but also glad you were there to help. Thank you great video as always. 💜
You’ve taught me so much about snakes so much that I got my own ( a baby snow corn snake ) I love snakes. It hurts to know you had to put the poor snake out of its misery. It’s fun watching your videos and learning so much. Thank you for the content 😄
When I was a little kid, I was obsessed with snakes. Then I found your channel and I have never gone back 😊. I love you guys and all your work because y’all are some of the kindest people I’ve ever seen ❤
Just wanted to say thank you for all the amazing content you put out so frequently! You helped me through some tough times and I'm very thankful for that!
And have funnnnnnnnn!
Thank you for taking care of the water snake. It sucks, but you're right - you did the right thing. I hope some of her babies make it!
Thank you both for giving mamma Nerodia a final gift
You can tell how much sad and just not that excited they got after the momma snake... I am so sorry you guys had to see it, but at least she's resting now and not suffering anymore :( ❤
I still can't get over you find snakes like that in the wild.....love from the UK xxx
When y’all grabbed the second corn snake “you’re a little jerk! 😃” was wonderful.
RIP for that precious baby y’all had to take care of. ❤
The poor snake that got hit by a car literally made me cry. That poor momma and her babies 😢 I'm glad you ended her suffering, but you should have never had to do that.
I never liked snakes when I was younger but after watching this channel for a while, I want my own snake. Snake discovery is very informative and fun at the same time. I enjoy learning from them!
Saved a garter from my cat the other day!! The little guy was definitely a cutie!! Released him behind my house in the tall grass, hope he's doing okay now!
I did the same thing a few weeks ago. Cat found a ribbon snake, and I managed to get it away from him before he could hurt it.
Best day of my life 'cause I've never caught a snake that big- roughly a foot long and quarter size diameter at the thickest part by my guess. He was not making it easy to get a size on him
No offense but... You released the snake in the same place the cat caught it?
@@StonedtotheBones13 No. I released it over the bank behind my house. I live right beside a river and the snake was out front in the tall grass- where the cat was going at him
@@ocstudios1585 ah, ok, just wanted to make sure!
@@StonedtotheBones13 Yeah I can see the confusion there.
I knew the cat would run right back to that spot. So I made sure to release the snake somewhere he could find shelter.
And, the moment the cat was let back out, he went back to that spot.
Thanks for posting your videos, I live in the uk you don't see many snakes out here and I used to be terrified of them, can officially say ive held a snake now and not afraid anymore
i live in the uk i only know that we have adders here, i don't know if we have anymore though as i live in a city
Yes we have adders down Cornwall mainly but can be found in a few other places, I think the only other thing we have remotely close to snakes are our slow worms, they kinda look like legless lizards just not as long and are smaller. They are grey or brown if I remember been a while since I seen one
@@Lucy-px2el ohhh, i forgot about slow worms as i only just learnt about them, I'm in the midlands so i never see adders or slow worms
Slow worms are actually leggless lizards so thats why they look like them 😂 , as a resident of Cornwall I quite often come across adders!
Oh and also we have grass snakes 🐍
I'm glad you guys were able to find the injured water snake and were able to put her out of her misery... At least you were able to do that for her.
I haven't cried over a SD video since Nick passed😢 Em and Ed have a unique ability to make their emotions felt through a video. That was heartbreaking! Poor momma water snake😢
Watching how the snakes run away was really cute and funny 😂
Wow! That Florida Blue Garter is GORGEOUS!!! WOW! What a boy ❤
Imagine. That water snake led a normal life, until tragically hit. Resulting in hundreds of thousands hearing about her and her story. Never knowing the impact its made. RIP beautiful girl. Thank you for ending her suffering.
The right time of year, a rainy night in south Florida can bring out all the baby aquatic species. Glad you guys had fun.
You guys are amazing, because of you guys im planning on finding a way to educate other students in my grade about snakes. Watching the watersnake incident just pushes my motive even more. Thank you for all you do.
I swear you could just teach classes with their vids. Some day there may be an AI holiday Emily to teach and answer every question
Another way I learned growing up in the south to tell apart scarlett & corals is " red meets black, you're ok jack. Red meets yellow, you're a dead fellow" lol So glad you got to find some scarletts!!
Poor snake and her babies, that part absolutely broke my heart because not only was she likely killed for existing but her babies lost their lives too. I can't imagine the agonizing heartbreak Ed and Emily dealt with in that moment. Thank you both for teaching people about how wonderful snakes are. 💖
FUN FACT about snakes in FL: they come out to the roads on purpose at dusk to early night to warm to either hunt or digest after a hunt depending on the bread. Corn snakes especially fallow this pattern in FL
Fascinating! I thought Corn Snake came from the fact they are often found in corn fields (and other crops) because the corn attracts mice and other rodents. ❤
Gorgeous snakes. That Florida blue garter was stunning. His pungent donation is unforgettable. Thanks for sharing and caring. 🐍
Your first corn was an okeetee! Brighter colors with thicker bands. A good amount of cornsnake morphs are actually found in the wild!
Okeeee is a locality, not a morph.
I'm glad you came upon momma water snake and her babies when you did and give her peace.
I still remember running out to get a turtle and a car swerved to hit it. I was horrified... I can't imagine purposely trying to hit ANYTHING. Glad you were there and had the knowledge to access the situation and end the suffering. So sad. :(
Some time ago my brother saw someone do the same to an adult hedgehog.. It was walking on the other lane and that bastard intentionally ran over it. It still infuriates me! Other drivers, that came before that bastard, dodged the hedgehog. As sane people do! Glad those previous drivers never got to know what happened. I'm sure they'd be horrified..
I should add that the hedgehog died on the spot. In my brothers words 'it exploded'.
@@maunomato How awful!! :( I am glad the hedgehog did not suffer, but how absolutely and unnecessarily tragic. :(
When Emily said she was still Tongue flicking you could see she was super upset. Thank you for doing the right thing anyways even if it was hard.
That poor momma water snake… I feel so bad for her and her babies, but at least she isn’t suffering anymore.❤ (Why am I tearing up for a random snake😢😭😭😭)
the toads in the video made me so happy. As soon as the adult southern toad was shown I was audibly like " :o That's a big gorllll!!! That's a big gorl!!!" Toads are so neat. I love seeing toads.
How fun if you ended up coming to Arizona someday to go critter hunting! We have SO many cool little animals here in the desert! 💛
They did a video several years ago about rattlesnakes in AZ
Interesting trivia Emily tossed out around 2:13: Round Pupils = Diurnal. That was great to learn, thanks!
Almost at 3 million 🎉 what’s the celebration gonna be?? 😄
I truly hope our people and state were respectful and nice to you. I love your channel, and I am an avid fan of reptiles! I have nothing except love and respect for all that you both do! ❤❤❤ Please come back to Florida(but do a central FL thing 😁)!!!
I grew up in Tampa, FL and catching snakes and lizards was just something ya did. My favorite was ring-necked snakes. They’re tiny, pretty and non aggressive.
It made me really anxious to see you guys standing in the middle of the road.
Thank you for being compassionate. ❤❤
It is super sad to hear about the gravid snake. It's a good thing you found her though to help her move on. What you did saved her from possibly hours of more suffering, still sad but better knowing she's free from the pain now. Sorry you had to do that but sometimes the right thing to do is the hardest thing to do. Thank you for being amazing people!
The garter snake is so beautiful. Honestly they should have their own name like the California red-sided garter snakes. Just call them Flordidian blue garter snakes.
RIP to the mama snake. It appears this was a very successful herping trip!
It’s hilarious seeing Emily just pick up wild snakes 😂 luv you guys 😊🐍
Rip to that mama snake, thank you for putting her out of her misery 😢
That toad was so chill, I love her
I love that Emily can just pick up the garter snakes and it's totally chill. I've caught hundreds of them throughout my life and have been bitten or struck at almost every time.🤣Also, that Charizard belt buckle is legit!
i couldn't stop crying when you spoke about the half dead snake and her babies, genuinely so heartbreaking :((
I'm so jealous of you guys! You find snakes about as often as one can find sticks! Finding reptiles around me is like finding unicorns!
That’s exactly how I feel 😂
Nah, they just show the actual snakes more bc well a video about sticks would be boring. Altho Emily is v good at catching and I have no idea how they see some of these snakes. There's plenty of times in other herp adventures where it's stick stick oop that's a stick.
@@StonedtotheBones13 yeah but like, they see em even just in the middle of the road, they find em like that! Its wild.
I really enjoy your videos. I especially enjoyed your Florida trips, and the road cruising. That’s the best way to find snakes such as the Scarlet Snake like the one you found, since they primarily live underground. I herped in the Everglades for 45 years, which is why these videos are so enjoyable for me . They bring back such good memories. Keep up the good work. 👍👍👍
14:04 that's so sad! How can people be so, so ruthless??? Do they not feel remorse??? 😢
I'm sorry, Ed and Emily, you both were in the correct place to allow the snake to pass quickly instead of a long, painful process. 😢 Thank you 💖 for sharing the wonderful animals you found ❤️
I absolutely love herping videos, in the south more people think the only good snake is a dead one so I appreciate everything y'all do. You should totally check out north eastern Louisiana if you can.
i am so sorry you had to see something like that watersnake. The raw emotion hit me so hard. I applaud you for your courage and education
Thank you Ed and Emily for all the work that you do educating the world on snakes. Before I watch your videos I was mildly afraid of snakes and now I am completely enamored and want to do all I can to keep them safe.
I’m so sad for the water snake. Poor mommy snake. 😢 but it was nice to see all the other critters ❤
😢 I'm sad about that gravid snake, sorry you had to put it out of its misery. But liked the video overall.
A whole family of snakes had to suffer terribly plus new life that were supposed to be out in the environment growing and reproduce to save its species from extinction just because some people are horrible and don’t like them thinks it’s okay to run it over instead of stopping the car and getting out their car to help re direct it off the road and to it’s proper direction which would have saved that little family
May they all rest in peace! 😢
wow what an amazing trip! TWO different lifers!
So happy you are helping I love these videos and whoever edit these I love them
Thanks Emily and Ed. Pause the video right after the ribbon snake and I just wanted to say that was a first for me too I appreciate everything you do. How neat it must be. Thank you.😊
Looks like a (mostly) wonderful time! I was itchy just seeing the mosquitoes though
Everyone loves the baby videos... But for me nothing beats the herping videos!
I agree
may that sweet mama water snake rest in peace and see all her babies again in snake heaven 💔 thank you for putting her out of her misery
14:15 a little lighter note after such a heavy topic- 'snaek'
Gave me a little smile haha
SNAKE DISCOVERYYYYYYYYYY IN THE RAIN 😍😍😍😍😍
I am so sorry for you finding and euthanizing that poor mom and babies. Thank you, though, for being compassionate and loving. Love to the 2 of you.
A zoo tour of all the animals once again I love 💕 etching you guys
Poor mama water snake and her babies 😪 I know it was so difficult but thank you for not letting mama and her babies suffer.
I was hoping for another herping video! I love these.
It was so touching seeing the pure emotion you two showed at having to put the snake out of misery.
So excited to watch now!!!!!
Awe sorry guys ... bless you both for being so loving.
i'm really glad that i started watching this channel. you have given me and so many others a lot of knowledge and appreciation for reptiles. i was already more chill with snakes, but your videos have made me think if i saw a snake in the wild i would not immediately panic!!
though obviously just watching your videos doesn't make me an expert, i definitely feel more knowledgeable :)
Thank you for not showing what it looked like, but explaining what happened still. That had to have been SO hard to have to do that to help that snake.
I feel so bad for that poor water snake, the fact she was about to have babies is truly heartbreaking. Ya'll are amazing people and the reason I'm so into reptiles and that I have 2 of my own. Do you guys have any tips to finding the best places for reptiles, if so I'd love to know, I'm going to Florida again soon and wanna know where to go to find snakes! (and other reptiles!)❤❤
I just moved to SC and we have so many baby southern toads in my backyard. My first herp out here was IN MY BACKYARD! coming from colorado and apartment living i was almost in tears. He was such a little guy too, little larger than my thumb.
Hi I love your vids!❤️❤️
People who were here within a hour👇👇
Edit:1 Ed trying to use the thingy Emily grabs the corn snake 😂😂
