10:23 I got a baby pine snake recently and she has a little question mark on her! She's also super chill, and at less than 2 months the main we're still working on for socialization is just being comfortable with other humans besides me. She's not even head shy anymore, she let me pet her cute lil face for a solid 5 minutes today. What I'm saying is that Pituophis are fantastic and underrated and I'm happy SD is getting the good word out.
To be fair, it did look like it didn't develop correctly anyways with so much unabsorbed yolk, so even if it had made it out, it likely would've still died. He didn't look like he had a developed egg tooth, so it was just a natural selection situation. I'm willing to bet the kinked baby was from the moldy egg too.

So you were gone for about a week between egg cutting and seeing the babies. From the point of view of the snakes, the whole world is nothing but warm, cozy darkness and siblings. Then, suddenly, the world starts moving... and then it gets brighter... then the WHOLE SKY COMES OFF AND OMG THERE'S A GIANT!!!! Lmao I don't blame the babies for being extra sassy.
I love that Ed had a bit of a bummer happen, and Emily sees Ed feeling bad, and they just listen to each other and play with some bb snakes and the day is so much better! The content I genuinely signed up for ❤
I was joking with my friends how Emily and Ed don’t mind being bitten by the baby snakes and only find it cute. Then we poised and realised it’s the exact same way with kittens and puppies. “Ah, did you just make me bleed. That’s adorable!” I don’t know. I think we might be the weirdest species out there. 😂
The baby with the kink is so pretty, i loved its pattern from when you first opened the box to reveal them. To bad about the kink if i didnt live in sweden and had the space and money i might have considered adopting it.
When Emily said the one snake was surprisingly more calm I wondered if it had a kink. It seems like they tend to be more calm when they have them. So when I think Ed said oh a kink in the calm one, I think it’s not a calm one that had a kink but rather a kinked snake acts more calm. Maybe because of pain, or because the kink affects their mobility, or maybe they know they are the slowest of the pack so-to-say so they look for fight less.
I always said the word ‘ogle’ like OH-gull. I’ve heard it less frequently as if it rhymes with goggle. Never heard it pronounced as OOH-gull until Emily said it.
Same, always long oh sound. Ooh-gle doesn't make sense bc there's only one o (English is very inconsistent, but I at least remember the rule of an e at the end makes a long vowel sound lol)

I was finally able to visit your facility this Friday and had so much fun. All the animals were so active and I also got to watch the indigo and dart frogs eat and it was so cool. Loved your facility and will definitely be coming back.

Hey guys. I didn't say this before but thank you for uploading your videos! I had to go to the ER due to an ovarian cyst rupture and watched this video when they put the IV drip in. The angry little babies helped me take my mind off of things.
While watching this I was feeding my snakes. I got bit for the first time by one of my corn snakes. It was my mistake but I was so relieved I didn’t flinch and try to fling him off out of a reflex. I just helped him let go my hand. Thanks to the video on snake bites I knew what to do!

you could see on the snake's mouth he didn't have a true egg tooth, so it really was just a natural selection situation, along with the unabsorbed yolk, he likely just wasn't developed correctly.
@@MixR700 sure, but if they did cut right away it could have survived and been adopted out as a pet only, or been humanely euthanized if it would not be able to survive. If they cut right away and the baby still dies, no harm has been done. I can’t think of any risk that is great enough to warrant delaying a potentially life saving act. I don’t think this arbitrary line of where “nature should take its course” is at all necessary. They are rationalizing the death to deal with any guilt they might feel, rather than focusing on what they as breeders, who have controlled the whole process up to this point, can do in the future to increase their hatch rate and decrease the mortality rate. They have had so many eggs go bad this year, and their attitude seems to be more “oh well” rather than looking for potential causes and ways their care can be improved. I hope my impressions are incorrect and they are keeping detailed records, reviewing the data at the end of each hatching season, and then using the results to inform their care next year. If they are doing this, then I would suggest uploading a video on it as I think it would be highly educational.

Hey guys. I didn't say this before but thank you for uploading your videos! I had to go to the ER due to an ovarian cyst rupture and watched this video when they put the IV drip in. The angry little babies helped me take my mind off of things.

While watching this I was feeding my snakes. I got bit for the first time by one of my corn snakes. It was my mistake but I was so relieved I didn’t flinch and try to fling him off out of a reflex. I just helped him let go my hand. Thanks to the video on snake bites I knew what to do!

you could see on the snake's mouth he didn't have a true egg tooth, so it really was just a natural selection situation, along with the unabsorbed yolk, he likely just wasn't developed correctly.
@@MixR700 sure, but if they did cut right away it could have survived and been adopted out as a pet only, or been humanely euthanized if it would not be able to survive. If they cut right away and the baby still dies, no harm has been done. I can’t think of any risk that is great enough to warrant delaying a potentially life saving act. I don’t think this arbitrary line of where “nature should take its course” is at all necessary. They are rationalizing the death to deal with any guilt they might feel, rather than focusing on what they as breeders, who have controlled the whole process up to this point, can do in the future to increase their hatch rate and decrease the mortality rate. They have had so many eggs go bad this year, and their attitude seems to be more “oh well” rather than looking for potential causes and ways their care can be improved. I hope my impressions are incorrect and they are keeping detailed records, reviewing the data at the end of each hatching season, and then using the results to inform their care next year. If they are doing this, then I would suggest uploading a video on it as I think it would be highly educational.
