@@VanillaIceCream-d2w There are leaked photos of props (mostly various trees), and they just look like that. I'm not saying that AI definitively _wasn't_ used anywhere (even before modern day image generation, AI has been used to simulate things such as waves in water), but the art style was definitely a conscious choice, and it'd take a lot more than just redoing the CGI to fix it.
They did. There were some leaks of the character sketches, and most of them were generated with AI (it literally said so). This is an AI generated style, that's why it looks so bad.
a lot of people have said this before, but the minecraft movie would look much better if they just went for that animation style they have for the update trailers. but oh well, guess we're having jumanji if it was minecraft
This movie feels like it’s just gonna be standing and talking about a mc thing for 2 minutes, changing location, something goes wrong, and repeating that cycle for a hour and a half.
I think they are going for 'humans going to the minecraft world', kinda like the movie Cool World which was the cartoon world and human world being two separate universes but then overlapping. Steve being someone who stumbled upon the world before the events of the movie.
@@DanSlaterAnimations jumanji retextured 😐 if this is what they were going for they could still make them turn blocky, would be cooler. The actors also aren’t placed in the environment well at all
I mean if you are looking for a Minecraft movie with blocky characters then it's already been done, heck there's even thousands of Minecraft videos (also music videos) out there with blocky characters.
@@blob5907 when someone says their face just fell, that meand their emotions quickly changed from positive to negative, so theyre actually saying they did NOT like it.
I wanna point some things out about the trailer that I don't think many other people have noticed. 1. When the trailer starts there is a disembodied voice which says "Right this way" with a kind of squid ward sounding voice, which makes me feel like there is going to be villagers in this movie, which I am honestly terrified to see how lifelike they make villagers look. Another thing I haven't really seen other people talk about is the fact that there are so many things in this movie that just don't exist in Minecraft, and some look like major plot elements. For example, that blue tesseract looking cube the kid in the red hoodie and later on Jason is holding looks like it must be a major plot element otherwise why would they be clearly holding onto it in two separate shots/scenes of the trailer.
I don't want a jumanji 3: into the minecraftverse. I want minecraft the movie. I don't want a movie of someone playing, i want a movie *in* the universe of minecraft
The base concept of making this some sort of Isekai is fundamentally flawed. Not only does this guarantee the first half hour is going to be the characters going "What the heck?! Everything is cubes! How wacky!" before we can actually get to the story, but it also feels like, before the movie even begins, the creators have already given up on any attempt at sincerity. It shows an unwillingness to engage with the world of Minecraft from an inside perspective. It's not telling a story about the world of Minecraft. It's telling a story that just happens to be set inside the world of Minecraft.
To me, this feels like a movie made by someone who only ever built a Dirt House in Minecraft and logged off after their first death. A minecraft movie made from someone who never mined their first Diamond, and never journeyed to get their first elytra. That's why it feels like it is made for babies, because they thought it was just a game for kids, and didn't realize what makes the game so special is that it is actually for EVERYONE.
I mean movies like this that got bounced around for a long time always end up on the desk of the shittiest writers in Hollywood. The ones who are so generic that they write basically what chat gpt spits out with no double take.
@@SquintyGears It's not up to the writers though; as far as companies are concerned they're just employees. They can come up with ideas and write scripts, but you only need to look at the cinemas to see what directors and executives want to be made. That is to say, writers only play a small part in the production of a movie. Also, writers hate AI the same way visual artists do. It's why they went on strike in Hollywood last year. They know that from the perspective of a company forever trying to make more money, if they can get a program that spits out ideas and writes scripts, then they might as well cut out all these unnecessary workers and fire them.
They should've had one of the secondary actors wear a flaming blue and red hoodie with headphones and striped pants. Maybe even a creeper logo on the back.
everything just looks so out of place. there is not one uniform style. its like making a collage of photos and the photos do not even have a common theme at all
Are you sure it doesn't work? It looks pretty cool to me, also, it's kinda how minecraft was built before Microsoft, a lot of different styles and contributions
"There's no official lore in Minecraft" Meanwhile Mojang always uses the piglins as the villains instead of the ender dragon, the wither and the warden (from Minecraft the base game piglins don't feel like full on villains)
its such a missed opportunity to give more life and lore to the Endermen. Minecraft doesnt have much official lore on PURPOSE, but since the "end" of the game is beating the Ender Dragon, my interpretation has always been: Endermen are enslaved by the dragon. They had a civ, but it dies out due to the corruption brought about by the dragon. The currently existing Endermen are what remains. The reason the Nether is destroyed is because Endermen can teleport, and are dimension hoppers. The Ender Dragon takes advantage of this, sending his minions to other dimensions to wreak havoc and bring back spoils. The Piglin were the second civilization spoiled by the Dragon for his gain. Endermen are now in the overworld. They appear everywhere, and have begun to dismantle things (they pick up blocks, even your buildings). Villagers and even Illagers are helpless against them (villagers cant attack, and illagers use mostly crossbow, with only a few using axes or magic). With no true defense against these beings, and the evil intention of the Ender Dragon... those two voices bring the player into existence. They are Gods? They are You? They are the Dev, and the Player, and the Universe. They are the Overworld protecting itself. And so they gently nudge you, the Player, towards a goal. No directions are given, but there are clues. It leads you to a ruined dimension, looted and broken, filled with lava and hints of a destroyed civilization thats become hostile and greedy. And in the End, it leads you directly to the Dragon. Relying on you to be the one that stops it. And so you do. But that's just my headcanon. Still, it would be amazing if they did something more in un-official lore with Endermen and the Ender Dragon, or the Warden, or the Wither. They're equally part of Minecraft lore and enemies, and could easily be their own factions. The piglins are overdone, even though theyre just as much a ruined civ as the Deep Dark is. Ancient City would make an AMAZING lore piece to explore: how things were BEFORE they became Ancient and destroyed by the Warden
There are also the illagers, these ones are definitely related to the greater ender dimension story. Also, the ender dragon and wither aren't villains, the wither is just the personification of death, and Jean is just the last survivor of the ender dragons
piglins aren't even evil in the game, just greedy and prejudiced. like, they're assholes but they aren't constantly commiting genocide like illagers or mindlessly killing everything in sight like the wither.
Here’s my thing with Steve… if they are just joining the game on accident and they’re the only humans, I think it’d be better if Steve A) wasn’t live action and B) didn’t sound like Jack Black. When Steve falls 89 blocks and dies as he hits the ground, he says “uh” in the most monotone voice ever. He should not be this emotive.
They can't save it, the people working on it have to actually care about the source material for a movie like this to work. For example, in the Lego movie EVERY SINGLE LEGO PIECE on screen was a real piece produced by Lego (they even showed their codes in that one scene where Emmet comes back from the real world), it had a bunch of other cool bits of lego "lore" as well that only the diehard fans would recognize, same thing with the Barbie movie. And for the Minecraft movie, in a 1 minute and 19 seconds trailer, we have : Piglins using random ass stick swords, piglins being in the overworld without becoming zombified, trees that look nothing like the iconic Minecraft trees, characters not being 2 blocks tall, Jason Mamoa using the crafting table wrong and crafting some bs thats not in the game, and that's just the things I noticed after watching it twice. So yeah, RIP Minecraft movie.
the thing i hate the most is that the damn blocks are not 1x1x1, like how hard is that to take care of, and they even vary in size from one to another that breaks the entire foundation of what the game is supposed to be, everything should be geometric and equal, this just looks like ai generated "realistic minecraft"
A few oddities I found in this trailer: 1: the characters are a lot taller than two blocks. In the game, the player is just under two blocks tall. A block is the equivalent of 1 meter in hight, so these characters are depicted to be around 3 meters tall, if not taller. 2: Piglins in the game live in the Nether dimension, and can't live in the Overworld because they will zombify. In Minecraft Legends, however, they are able to infiltrate the Overworld by creating a bubble around the Nether portal providing a Nether atmosphere or whatever so that they don't zombify. In the movie though, they're just flying around with no protection whatsoever. 3: if they wanted to have Minecraft enemies raid Steve's village, they could have literally gotten the Illagers to do it. You can activate raids in Minecraft so that waves of Illagers can raid a village. *But hey, that's just a Theory...*
1. Tbf itd be weird if they had to jump and climb constantly just to get up a tiny hill lol, also we can see that both the block sizes and grid placements vary in the mountains and cliffs of the movie world- so maybe some blocks are smaller and some bigger 2.THATS WHY IT LOOKED SO OFF TO ME I didnt even realize loll (or maybe it just looked off cause you barely see nether monsters outside of... yk. the nether) 3. Bruh this teaser made me forget about every feature except the ones shown in it lol I really hope they add illagers now
@@kezottle I do agree that with what they have now, making them jump 1 meter every time they need to go over a block would be weird, which is why making them be Minecraft characters instead of real humans would have worked better. It worked in the games and the update trailers, so it would have worked here too, if they had done that.
When Steve said "We are the block*ng Java crafters" It was so emotional I was brought to my knees sobbing and shitting all over the place, truly a classic
One of the worst things they could have done here is using famous actors, you're not looking at "Steve" you're looking at Jack Black pretending to be Steve and it's extremely distracting.
@@SquintyGears The point is he doesn’t look like the character he’s portraying, he looks like a well-known famous person, and any ounce of immersion is lost.
they also could have gotten someone closer to the actual characters, like it cannot be that difficult to find a short-haired black guy with a beard. it feels so weird to pretend that jack black is steve
Intentional or not, I’m not the biggest fan of the hyper-realistic art style. These mobs being accurate to how they look in-game would serve the same purpose, if more appealing to the eyes.
Funny animated kids movie checklist: ✅ 80’s music to keep the parents interested ✅ Characters complain about the stupid premise ✅ Black woman saying “what the hell” (whatever black women say is funny 😂)
The fact that Warner Bros copyrighted this video just because you mentioned the minecraft trailer They know the fan made one is so much better 😭 We don't want a minecraft movie, we want THE minecraft movie
7:30 "They're trying to have their own identity." There are dozens of OTHER mediums or art styles that they could've used! Western 2D, Anime, hybrid 2D/3D (which has been used a lot recently), even stop-motion! But instead they decided to fall back on generic live action as their medium. That will not make them stand out on the stage of big cinema.
There are hundreds of hours worth of minecraft animated content (think slamacow, blue monkey), with very different aimation styles but very similar ideas. Videos I think a majority of people know who've played it for years. And then they do this hyperrealistic bull.
I was hoping the Minecraft movie was going to be a full animated movie about the past of Steve, the origins of the structures, the origins of the ancient builders (which were confirmed by mojang)
This is why the Netflix series is a good thing, you can have both approaches (the animated series is definitely going to be different from the live action movie), and appreciate which ever you prefer
@@minestar2247 Yeah hopefully it'll be good. Honestly idk if im watching this movie. I usually watch bad movies anyways cause whatever but i genuinely think this will be the opposite of enjoyable
Imagine the reality that we got the animated silent movie with a little lore and ominous almost scary ambiance, I WOULD LOVE THAT. To see how the discs were created, cracked and all. Some predecessor to Steve maybe. GOSH, we can't have nice things in Minecraft can we...
They gotta advertise it to kids though, so an actually artful silent movie would be difficult to make for them. That said, it wasn’t impossible, and with how special of a property Minecraft is, I’d say they should have tried a little harder.
That would not make money for shareholders. The goal with this film is to clearly get a bunch of people to watch it just because its minecraft. I for one will be pirating it or just avoiding it entirely.
The three main things VISUALLY that bother me: - The sheep in the movie has a 3D mouth when it doesn’t in the game, making it really jarring to look at. - The people look weirdly disproportionate to the world around them. This was going to happen anyway, but the wide shot has a tree? on the left that looks WAY too small compared to the humans. - The wide shot also shows a strange disconnect in the lighting. The people just look like they’ve been lit differently to the background, and it does NOT match up to the CG world around them. The shadows also do not help to blend them into the scene at all, what few shadows there actually are.
There are jungle trees that only have one wood block and a few leaves around it so they do exist, but obviously, theyre not in a jungle biome and those types of trees only exist in jungles so either theyre bushes or theyre purposely ignoring the game logic like almost every other videogame movie
The third point here is what I noticed the most and am surprised no one is talking about. The actors feel more like they were slapped on top of the scenery rather than actually in the world.
@@seajayfourthat’s because they are. In the main shot with the tree, the backround is just a green screen. You can tell by the characters not having any shadows
wait there's an animated Minecraft show? (if there is I want them to adapt The Island, one of the deeper Minecraft stories I've seen that deals with very real issues)
@@8bitshadow582No, I’m talking about before the teaser when all we heard was that there was gonna be a Mario movie staring Chris Pratt and Jack Black. Many people assumed it was gonna be live action which everyone was SO GLAD it wasn’t because it would’ve ended up… like this.
It works in Jumunji 2016 because the sets are real, like they are seeing the game as the characters would, realistically. In The Minecraft Movie, they see the world as blocky, but they themselves aren’t blocky. I swear James and the Giant Peach figured this out by having the main character be animated when he’s with the other animated characters and environment
@@marioisawesome8218 Yeah Roger Rabbit is like lightning in a bottle for putting real people in cartoon worlds. The animators and the actors put in a lot of effort. I kinda wanna know how it worked there but doesn’t work here
@@kiplee-musicgirl23 i would say it's the lighting, attention to detail (watch how the cartoons make his tie move around), shadows, consistent scaling. and that's not mentioning all of the camera tricks they used to really sell the scenes.
This movie feels impersonal to the vibe of minecraft, which I feel is the main problem. It seems like a regular run-of-the-mill animated movie with an unoriginal plot, which could fit with other video game where the game is simplistic or has clear objectives (ex. sonic). Minecraft being an open world game about choosing your own destiny, I feel like a minecraft movie would ideally be solemn, personal, and poetic, a stark contrast to the comedy-geared mood expressed by the teaser. The short film showed would have been better inspiration.
This. They could have made something interesting and existential about self determination and finding your own meaning and tie it into the core idea of the game but instead they did... this. Wasted potential.
Indeed, minecraft can have silly tone, but it has room for so much more, it's like having the best chefs on your paycheck and asking a cheese sandwitch, besides, the trailer looks so plastic, and disconnected, and uninteractable, so much greenscreen i mean you could simply copy max brooks approach on his book, witch funnily enough, jack black narrates in an audiobook, the irony is baffling it hurts
I’ve seen something of this sentiment before: focus on character relations and Minecraft’s creativity, while something like a “big bad evil” plot is either sidelined or just background.
If they wanted to make a good live action movie, they should've gone with The Legend of Zelda (Ocarina of Time or Twilight Princess). Minecraft does NOT fit live action 😭(atleast in the way they're trying)
@@1eris. It can be done with a regular 10 blocks portal, people have been doing this since the beta. It's just that it's very unlikely to happen as it has to somehow spawn inside the portal or be tricked into going inside one. Last time I've seen this happening naturally was in 1.4.5, there were no large portals yet.
@@VerMishelb it cant happen naturally since the portal is not big enough for the ghast hitbox to allow it to spawn in or go inside it. I did find a video of a guy using a minecart to bring one to the overworld in the pre big portal times tho
The scaling looks completely messed up. At 3:08 if you compare the size of them to the blocks to the left, they look like they are 5 or 6 blocks tall, then when they are close to the blocks like at 5:24 they are 3 blocks tall. Also why they are the size of the tree to the left of them at 3:08 is a mystery to me. They really didn't need to make the sheep and llamas have very dynamic facial expressions either. The best thing to do would have block characters that look like the actors and have them just voice act it. It honestly looks like they just put green screened actors over a minecraft animation and called it a day.
In the crafting scene of the trailer you can even see the boots of swiftness from minecraft dungeons in the background I think that kid has the goddamn orb of dominance
Jack Black saying "I am Steve" is not meant to be a joke, rather it's obviously a nod to how you can't actually tell he's Steve so the movie needs to remind you (Really I have no idea why they went for a photorealistic live-action look when most of the stuff is animated anyway, just make the whole thing animated at this point)
the set design genuinely looks ai generated at 0:39. it's almost like the higherups producing this film only care about doing the bare minimum to make it "kind of look like minecraft" instead of putting work into it to deliver to fans... sucks that every good idea gets absolutely crushed by corporate greed and cutting corners. if they couldn't bother to make the opening shot of the trailer look convincing what else do you think they skipped over 😟
This movie has been in development since way before video AI existed, before chatgpt existed. I agree that its a lazy attempt to create the art style, and I don't like it either. Honestly, i think its a little worse that its *not* ai generated
@@HeyItsSlothI mean, GenAIs have been useable since at least 2017, they were just kinda crap. But these days a lot of CG is done in the post-production phase, so they definitely cound be using GenAI
In the defense of that specific shot, the bitrate isn’t great because of RUclips. But from what I can see, I don’t see the typical signs of AI generation (buildings and landscapes inexplicably merging together, inconsistencies, lack of cohesion). Now, do I think they cheaped out by making this movie basically all live action-CGI, which just so happens to be one part of the modern film industry that isn’t unionized? Yes, and I think CGI-artists should unionize. Can I guarantee that no AI was used in the creative process? No, I didn’t work on this film and I have no knowledge of what went on behind the scenes. But to call this AI generated detracts from the real people who had to spend hours of their lives modeling and rendering the blocky landscape, even if stylistically speaking it looks like absolute dog ass.
The reason old Pixar and old Disney movies are good -kids- movies* is because they respected and cared about the audience and the craft. The moment in the trailer that really shows what I mean is the line "I am Steve…[Epic Sound Effect]" where it holds for a moment, which is to hope the audience will be all like "I clapped because I know [Minecraft]! I know what that is!" "AT-STs! AT-STs! AT-STs!". But when you watch something like WALL-E do you ever get the feeling you are being told how to feel? The opening 10 minutes are incredible because they set up WALL-E's character and motivation without saying a single word or having him do anything that feels unnatural, it just feels like he is going about his nightly routine. While, in the Minecraft movie, who would ever say "I am [Name]" like that? That is just not how people talk. While I am comparing one of the greats of film to a teaser that should be fine. You can generally tell based on the few lines and how the characters physically act what the movie will be like, it very clearly does not take itself seriously. This film is going to be bad, if it is not I will be quite surprised. *Also, I must say, just because something is a "kids" movie does not mean it is bad as some would say. Kids movies should not just be random garbage to keep the kids entertained, they should be good…that is literally all, they should just be good.
Wall-e is truly peak animated cinema. I feel like the only thing that truly compares is Spider-verse, but that's mostly because Spider-verse is ridiculously innovative. Wall-e is not that different from other Pixar films, it's truly just it's writing alone that makes it so good.
@@Myne1001 Yeah, I was referencing that. What I really meant by that was that line is essentially a wink at the audience. Which is not neccesarily bad if it were subtler. The reason I referenced RLM is because the "I know what that is!" is what people will think when they see it, even if they do not use those exact words.
All I wanted was an element animation style movie. That was literally all I wanted. And we know that a cinematic take on the style works. Just look at what Element did for the Hermitcraft Season 8 finale.
03:50 Phoenix, It's the teeth. (And the tongue.) They're trying to bring way to much realism into the mobs. The only one they did right(ish) is the creeper. Nitpicking the screenshot at 8:00 - I feel like the humans feel out of place because of the weird lighting. It's fine at first, but when you look at the CGI background and see the beautiful yellow glow on the trees, on the flowers, even on the grass, and then look back at the people, they just look flat. Adding some yellow into their lighting would've made it feel more "correct" instead of flat. It just looks like they're in a warehouse in front of a green screen. It's especially noticeable on the kid with the red hoodie. He looks more blue compared to the golden surroundings.
they're making movies for people who don't watch or care about movies, tv shows for people who don't watch or care about tv shows video games for people who don't play or care about video games and video game movies for people in neither audience

Also, writers hate AI the same way visual artists do. It's why they went on strike in Hollywood last year. "There's no official lore in Minecraft"
Meanwhile Mojang always uses the piglins as the villains instead of the ender dragon, the wither and the warden (from Minecraft the base game piglins don't feel like full on villains)
It's probably because they are a faction and not just some beast.
its such a missed opportunity to give more life and lore to the Endermen.
Minecraft doesnt have much official lore on PURPOSE, but since the "end" of the game is beating the Ender Dragon, my interpretation has always been:
Endermen are enslaved by the dragon.
@@pokerusfreak8194 wow
The thing about the piglins... I feel like the movie will be somewhat like Minecraft Legends, where the piglins are in the overworld (no other notes)
the thing i hate the most is that the damn blocks are not 1x1x1, like how hard is that to take care of, and they even vary in size from one to another
that breaks the entire foundation of what the game is supposed to be, everything should be geometric and equal, this just looks like ai generated "realistic minecraft"
they can save it when they added steve teaching kids how to enslave villagers and abuse them to become rich
there is no way that this is not ai gnerated
The ghast hot air balloons too...

A few oddities I found in this trailer:
1: the characters are a lot taller than two blocks.
A GAME THEORY!!!

The three main things VISUALLY that bother me:
- The sheep in the movie has a 3D mouth when it doesn’t in the game, making it really jarring to look at.

Indeed, minecraft can have silly tone, but it has room for so much more, it's like having the best chefs on your paycheck and asking a cheese sandwitch, besides, the trailer looks so plastic, and disconnected, and uninteractable, so much greenscreen

this movie makes me remember those hyperrealistic image slideshows of minecraft mobs from like 2015
7:55 is the kid holding a Tesseract? the hell, did steve fuck up returning the infinity stones or something?
In the crafting scene of the trailer you can even see the boots of swiftness from minecraft dungeons in the background I think that kid has the goddamn orb of dominance
@@marquesgurling9271The kid confirmed to be the Arch Illager
yeah Momoa gets it later in the teaser as well
@@marquesgurling9271 actually in one scene you can see the Seer (piglin witch with the Orb seen in the MC Legends cutscene)
I thought it was an allay cuz I've recently been messing with them a lot and they're really handy for gathering 😂
Jack Black saying "I am Steve" is not meant to be a joke, rather it's obviously a nod to how you can't actually tell he's Steve so the movie needs to remind you
(Really I have no idea why they went for a photorealistic live-action look when most of the stuff is animated anyway, just make the whole thing animated at this point)
If the movie needs to remind you. is it really worth it?. 🪑
b-b-b-but muh big name actors!!!!11!1
“i am steve” me when no internet connection
They need that line because Jack Black looks more like Santa than Steve.
They just put Jack black in a blue shirt
I legit got my first ad for the movie right after this video finished
the set design genuinely looks ai generated at 0:39. it's almost like the higherups producing this film only care about doing the bare minimum to make it "kind of look like minecraft" instead of putting work into it to deliver to fans... sucks that every good idea gets absolutely crushed by corporate greed and cutting corners. if they couldn't bother to make the opening shot of the trailer look convincing what else do you think they skipped over 😟
Everything looks AI generated, the ground, the trees, the houses, the mobs...
Honestly I thought that was ai generated as soon as I saw it, it doesnt even look anything like minecraft other than the clouds
YESSS I LOVE WALLE
Wall-e is truly peak animated cinema. I feel like the only thing that truly compares is Spider-verse, but that's mostly because Spider-verse is ridiculously innovative. Wall-e is not that different from other Pixar films, it's truly just it's writing alone that makes it so good.
The effect you're describing is they expect everyone to be like Mike from RLM's Nerd Crew Podcast "I KNOW WHAT THAT THING IS!"
For myself, I'm going to be surprised if it is actually going to end up bad. I see it as something I might quite enjoy.
i expected it to look like the villager news animations. i am physically disappointed and i don't think these stuff can make me feel worse anymore .
so true. villager news was funny, this feels like a minecraft themed sitcom with flat, barely relatable jokes
I was hoping it would look like the Fallen Kingdom series
I knew it's gonna be live action, but they should've gone with entirely animated style, like Minecraft update trailers or MC Story Mode.
All I wanted was an element animation style movie. That was literally all I wanted. And we know that a cinematic take on the style works. Just look at what Element did for the Hermitcraft Season 8 finale.
Maybe element animation could animate the Netflix series, I'm just speculating
"i.. am steve"
truly inspiring words
The only minecraft movie in my heart is Element Animation Egg's Guide to Minecraft
What about Villager News?
Mine is the fallen kingdom trilogy
Black Plasma Studio is goated as well
@@RogatkaWR Srsly. I hope Squared media sees this movie and decides to release their own (better) version while animated
03:50 Phoenix,
It's the teeth. (And the tongue.)
They're trying to bring way to much realism into the mobs. The only one they did right(ish) is the creeper. (Though the should make it a little bit more clear that they're made of leaves.)
And yes the scale of the people is entirely wrong in that shot.
What if Creepers aren't made of leaves but rather leaves are made of creepers???????
Fr tho, it looks like they are bigger than the trees
Wait I've been playing minecraft for 9 years and found out creepers are covered in leaves to camouflage
@@Razar19 well, they are called creepers after all (tho tbh, I too didn't know that)
We got Sonic'd
Now lets Sonic them
Even better idea : let's gather a bunch of minecraxt youtubers and make our own movie for free on youtube It could actually be a banger + no copyright cuz its on youtube
So many bots lmfao
More like, let's SonicCraft them
I would definitely join that movie then
That's not how copyright works
It's already there, called "Songs of War", by the former Animation Studio Black Plasma Studios
I feel bad for Emma Myers. She could really have done with a film that didn't suck to get her career rolling.
Now we have a full-length movie of those "Minecraft IRL" videos.
Well atleast those were funny....we are talking about the same serie right
I’m not sure minecraft was actually ever supposed to be a movie in my opinion
I mean, the movie has been in the works since 10 years ago, but clearly the direction has changed in a way that... it just doesn't work.
i swear story mode looks better then this shit@@schmingbeefin4473
I mean
There are incredible minecraft short movies and series on RUclips
And they are great
Neither was lego, unfortunately it seems that the Minecraft movie ain't going to be as good as the lego movie.
You missed the point. Minecraft does not have a story, you make one yourself. That’s why so many SMPs have storylines. Why can’t a storyline be brought into the theaters?
Nitpicking the screenshot at 8:00 - I feel like the humans feel out of place because of the weird lighting. It's fine at first, but when you look at the CGI background and see the beautiful yellow glow on the trees, on the flowers, even on the grass, and then look back at the people, they just look flat.
Adding some yellow into their lighting would've made it feel more "correct" instead of flat. It just looks like they're in a warehouse in front of a green screen. It's especially noticeable on the kid with the red hoodie. He looks more blue compared to the golden surroundings.
and why do they have the tesseract???
@@Tsunamicat108the teaser isn’t the movie. That’s obviously going to be relevant to the actual movie’s plot; we don’t need it explained in the teaser.
Exactly Thankyou. They have not placed the actors into the environment well at all
they fr look pasted onto the background in so many scenes. its awful
I loved when Mine said it’s craftin’ time and then crafted all over the floor
I just saw the title of an article for this movie that said *”Jump Square Warning”* I kid you not.
thats golden XD
“I am hip with the kids”
they're making movies for people who don't watch or care about movies,
tv shows for people who don't watch or care about tv shows
video games for people who don't play or care about video games
and video game movies for people in neither audience
I totally agree but am baffled by the pretty good streak of video game TV adaptations that have been coming out and getting Emmy recognition and everything. like how can studios get those so right and then turn around and get it so wrong??
@@cowestgirl3746 well, it's simple: The video game movie adaptations that were great were made by great studios that understood their audience and the source material. Movies like the Monster Hunter movie are made by studios that don't understand either and simply want to make a cash grab movie.
Who's they?
Also this is completely fucking untrue. There's plenty of great TV shows, movies, and video games than have come out within the last couple of years
@@2intheampm512 I am curious, which ones?

Villager News: The Movie
**YES**
Yessss
we have MCSM
“Minecraft Graphics in 2017!!!” ahh trailer
They actually managed to out-ugly the original version of the Sonic movie, the Lion King remake+prequel, and the Snow White remake. Round of applause!
Most of the mobs look like a mixture between those overly realistic resource packs and ai art where everything is screaming
And neither is enjoyable
This film is either going to be horrendous or a masterpiece, but probably horrendous
Done done and done@@DontReadMyPicture-c2p
Definitely a masterpiece
it could be a horrendous masterpiece
definitely both

Who had the idea to make the minecraft movie live action? It would be thousand times better if it was animated.
Hollywood is obsessed only casting humans on camera....even if the media they making the movie on is for people who want to see their game as a movie and don't care for who plays
Mojang, because there was a director before the current one working on the mc movie asked captain-sparkles how in the world can he make a good live action mc movie, before leaving the project. So yeah it was kinda doomed from the start
Everyone is making everything live action nowadays. Many things should have been animated.
It’s just to make it cheaper really. Even though a Minecraft movie is guaranteed to make bank, they still wanna be as cheap as possible.
live action is not cheap😭@D3viant517 that one marvel ant-man movie took 326 mil to make and they didn't even make that money back after it released. the all these production companies care about is graphics nowadays and making things look as realistic as possible
Where's the part where jack black meets herobrine and says "Woah... Notch's brother? But i thought you were dead..."
Jokes like that are nowhere near as understood as basic humor. Most Minecraft players don’t know who Herobrine is, and a lot of players don’t know about the nether and the end. Even more, a lot of players don’t even know about frogs eating goats.
You just unlocked some memories
the music cuts with that rising cymbal sweep as herobrine cocks his head with a comical "hmm?" before it smash cuts to a montage set to Mr. Blue Sky
@@DaleTheBoulder What do you mean, Herobrine is the most famous minecraft urban legend, every player has at least heard of it.
"My death was...greatly exaggerated."
The lighting also just does not match in any of the scenes where the actors interact with the CGI.
This specifically is not a CGI issue, it's a production problem and I think it's subconsciously ruining some scenes.
Warner Bros on their Way to copyright claim this
Wait a minute they might do it to me as well
