    I kind of agree about playing in DUPR round robin's... I played in my first one not too long ago and the sheer impact that "targeting" the weaker player has on your matches is just not worth it. Especially if I have to pay $35 - $40 per round robin event.
    For those that don't know what DUPR round robin's are, you basically play up to 6 matches, and you rotate partners. Playing with each person at least once. In these events, people just target weaker players and do everything they can to keep the ball away from you if you're obviously stronger.

    Been playing pickleball for 10 months now, never seen a guy built like Rico that can play pickleball with that kind of mobility.. dude probably just used to be a fit athlete, before the injectables. 💪

    Great video! One thing that I think should be considered and added into cost of playing is paddles..
    We all know once you start playing competitively you want a better paddle and you can easily spend 100s of dollars on paddles in year! 💸

      That's true!! I'll probably make a part 2 on how much I spent on pickleball in total. My instagram poll has spoken haha

    Hi ! I am Rodrigo, we play here in Brazil, I'm 4.0, to give you an idea, a paddle costs 1,800, tournament registrations start at around 100 and go up to 250 for bigger tournaments. This year, tournaments with cash prizes will begin

    informative video, although i didn't like how you worded the title. my impression was that it would show the costs related to your growth in the sport, so money spent on court fees, paddles, coaching, etc. not just the tournament fees.

    Another great video. Love the transparency around your journey and the advice you have around how to best manage one's DUPR.
    Do you have any experience / knowledge on the reliability of DUPR league play (instead of rec play which might be more inconsistent)?

      Yayyy thank you! I'm no expert on competitiveness on leagues. I still think tournament atmosphere brings higher stakes and competition mindset though.

    • @alanhung1428
      @alanhung1428 День назад +1

      might have something to do with your opponents that joined the 3.0 are sand baggers and have a significantly higher DUPR rating. Thats what happened to me too. joined a 3.0 tournament. Lost to a couple of guys with above 4.0 DUPR. my rating became 3.77 afterwards.

    Great episode, just wish you would have added the cost of your paddle in there just as an initial start up cost. Not saying you should have added food/clothes or anything crazy just bringing focus to the main tool that helps you get from 3.0 to 4.5 as an initial cost and then tournament fees. 😅😅

    Paul, I love your channel and have watched every one of your videos but in the US, "Cost" is the past tense for something you paid for in the past, not "costed". i.e. The tournament cost me $100 etc..

    A 3.0 would go 0-5 in a 4.0-4.5 doubles tourny if just starting out. Saying you went from 3.0 to 4.0 in 6 months is a little farfetched.

    • @JeffKurtz-jv7is
      @JeffKurtz-jv7is 19 часов назад

      Basically no way you started out as a 3.0. The Dupr rating progression you were given was way off. Should have been higher than a 3.04 at the start + rating should have shot up a lot after a 4.0-4.5 doubles tourny with 2 wins.

    • @eellaups
      @eellaups  18 часов назад

      Very fairrr! Take this as a conservative evaluation then. Imagine how much it might cost if it takes longer to get to 4.0, sheeshhh
