About 16 years ago I met Fulgencio at a gym in Caracas. Although he was not a regular coach, from time to time he would go and share and advise us amateurs. He must have been in his fifties. The impression he left on me is of a well mannered quiet man, still with good cognitive and physical faculties. He was tall, wiry, and when he shook your hand, you felt like you were shaking hands with a freaking titanium android, he had very tough hands.

@@BoxingLife Loved watching this, and I REALLY miss Hagler. IMO, Marvelous is the greatest middleweight ever. So smart, and he was a GREAT tactician in the ring. As for this opponent, Felgencio was a tough SOB, major knockout power, and bigger than Hearns, so this was no easy fight for Hagler. But of all of Hagler's greatest assets, I think the most amazing asset is no one ever really hurt him. Hearns rocked Hagler for a bit in Round 1 of their fight, but even then Hagler just countered and kept moving forward, unfazed.

Im still trying to figure out how Vito Antuofermo managed a draw against Marvin in their first fight. When Marvin was challenging Vito, Vito got the decision supposedly because he was the champion. Close fights in a championship fight go to the Champion.....Unless you fight a close fight against a challenger named Leonard. So the second time Marvin was in a close fight, the challenger got the decision. Sounds like referees didnt like Marvin too awful much, because he won both of these fights. He kicked Vito's ass, and still lost.

I think that you have some of the best boxing content on RUclips, well done for that. However, in this instance some of your information is slightly incorrect. At the end of the Alan Minter fight, the crowd did not throw bottles due to the early stoppage. The threw bottles due to the fact that Minter was beaten by a black man, which he is quoted as saying would never happen. Minter had a large fight right contingent within his fans, as those are the ones who threw the bottles and cans, and racially abused Hagler on his way back to his dressing room.

His changing of stance. From neutral to orthodox, from southpaw to orthodox, from orthodox to southpaw. I knicknamed him Tazmanian devil because he was so fast with his switch hitting. Impeccable timing and could manage distance, space and cut the ring. His balance too and footwork. Brilliant Master of Boxing, truly stuff of LEGEND.

I thought it was a one sided blow out while i was there but wow he had heart. Many prospects did well against Tommy hearns for a future vid idea. James the heat kitchen did well

For me, Hagler is the best middleweight ever. Maybe not the best boxer but undoubtedly the best fighter. He had it all: strength, stamina, power, determination and a cast iron jaw. Have a watch of his fight against John ‘The Beast’ Mugabi. Amazing. Saul Canelo is a brilliant fighter these days. What a fight those two would have had.

@@darrencroom7701 Too right. He also had to fight his way up through the ranks to even get a shot at the title such was the prejudice against him.

Hagler was superb, his dedication was second to none, and any young aspiring boxer's, would do well to, take a leaf out of this man's book, dedication is the only way to achieve in the square ring, as a young lad you have to give up the usual things, but the rewards are worth it, providing you keep a level head, RIP Marvellous Marvin.

I was in London early 2001, I was walking past the Savoy when I was distracted by a car horn and bumped into a fellow pedestrian.. it was a shuddering collision and I apologised.. I was met with a silent aggressive stare.. I met the man’s gaze and it was Marvin Haggler.. I was about to say I’d been a lifetime fan of his when suddenly he stripped of his shirt and pants and was stood in his boxing shorts.. not hesitating I took up an orthodox stance and sized him up for on of my rib busting hooks .. I missed and a friend got between us , seconds later he was grabbed by hi manager Angelo Dundee Scotland and ushered away into a Limo. He was gone.
