That's purely saddening when I hear about a trespasser fatality on any railroad, especially when it involves an Acela. I just wish everyone could get along in this world and to not have problems. Rest in peace :( Nice catch of the Acela following the MBCR train at 4:02!
I remember this day, I was over an hour late coming home from work, the guy committed suicide in front of the Acela, sort of ironically he was a funeral director. Supposedly the people in the first car of the train actually felt the impact.
When a train hits a trespasser and any part of the body is on the tracks only the coroner can move the remains. Been there done that, Harrison, NY 7 1/2 hours until we got the ok to move the train. Many pieces everywhere. Coming through Harrison on the express track and someone was walking on my track, my speed was 70 mph I sounded the horn and he stepped onto the local track then three cars from him he stepped back into my track and waved goodbye. We offloaded our passengers onto a local and 7 1/2 hours later got the ok to depart and the train took off, I was talking to the crew in the second car when we started moving. Got up walked up and told the road foreman I would run it into Grand Central. He told me he had it, I reached up and pulled the emergency valve and after resetting the valve the road foreman looked at me and I told him if I don't run it into Grand Central I will never run another train again. I. Intentionally put her into emergency three more times enroute to GCT before we arrived. Road foreman never said a word. Went to work the next day and didn't have any more issues running a train after that. Not what I wanted to have happen to me but you can't avoid it. It turned out to be one of the points of becoming a locomotive engineer they didn't talk about. This incident was just one person who died under a train I was running, there are more. Too many than I like to think about yet I still see them every night when I go to sleep but as sick as it might sound I have gotten used to them after years of not being able to sleep for more than an hour or so and waking up in a cold sweat. To this day I only sleep a couple of hours then I'm back up. It was my only fatality with a commuter train, all the rest were automobile idiots that didn't stop for the flashing lights, cross bucks or gates when I was running freight trains.
Not a dumb question at all, they actually put them through some drug tests/alcohol tests just to make sure no of those factors were involoved, and then if they can continue, the same crew will finish the trip or request a new crew.

At 6:00 you can hear the iconic Amfleet air brake release noise, probably because the engineer got scared by the dumbass standing on the yellow line after what had happened prior and engaged the brakes.
If someone gets hit by a train ,car, truck doesn't matter what hit a person on the railroad or highway if they die at the scene only the corner can legally move the body. All the gripping and complaisant change the law. You simply have to wait until you get the ok to proceed. Came across an accident driving an 18 wheeler my delivery was 700 feet from where I was stopped by the county sheriffs deputy's. They finally let me proceed in 9 hours, by the the factory I was delivering to had closed for the weekend. I just turned on the tv and watched a couple of dvd's until o got the ok to go. This was on a side road in Georgia.
That Greenbush Locomotive was nice i used to live down the street from the Weymouth Landing/ Braintree Station now i live by the South Weymouth Train Station on the Old Colony Line
Question, Why do people even dare to cross the most bussiest line during rushhour? I mean do people have common sense not to cross the tracks? It's one thing if it's an accident,it's another thing if the take risks crossing a busy line during the day.
I wonder how much it costs the T every time some idiot gets hit by a train. All the overtime for the bus drivers, all the extra gas money, the police time wasted investigating the crash, etc.
The mbta trains stopping is making the train traffic even slower when the dispatcher is trying to get everyone trough the area after the accident. If it was me I would express all mbta trains through there till everything was normal
Seems quite efficiently handled actually. In the UK they'd close both tracks for hours, and would they be able to arrange buses that quickly? What do you think?
Yep, same in the Netherlands. You forgot about one important thing: on the train that struck a person, keep the passengers on for hours, no matter what, that's at least what we do in the Netherlands. Don't know about the area in this video, but I do expect some buses to turn up after about an hour in some areas in the Netherlands, allthough it will take longer in most cases. These however, seem to be regular buses, where in the Netherlands tourbuses are usually sent as regular buses are not available/don't provide the requirements for all the extra luggage trainpassengers mostly carry with them. The only thing I dislike is the way they handle these kind of emergencies in the Netherlands. If it's a suicide, they will just mention something like in this video or 'Due to a collision with a person at....' In Belgium, they make it into such a more human message, as they will announce something like 'Due to an act of desperation ...' Ofcourse, it's a different story if someone is just taking a shortcut and is not by any means trying to take his own life.
some MBTA platforms are train height, but the less used stations such as Sharon (population 18,000) don't want to spend the money. besides, the trains have built-in stairs for lower platforms
I know this day was devastating and it happened years ago my defense is it was weird that all high speed express trains were moving slow through Sharon however the one that struck the victim was going regular speed. 🤔
Your lucky that you caught something as rare as that to capture on film although its sad. Just asking but are there any Railfanner's in Scituate, MA besides me?
There's always one idiot in every crowd, And there he was. Nothing like making every approaching engineer on edge. Slap the next idiot for me please. Cool post. Liked it.
Because delays after a person being struck backs all the trains up, therefore to try and recover the service trains tend to run close together at a lower speed to get back on time. Depending on the severity of the incident and time to get a service moving again, trains may not run on time for the remainder of the day.
That's what it is. Anyone on the tracks is a trespasser. Strike is a synonym for hit, both of which accurately describe what happens when a train runs into a person. As such, trespasser strike is perfectly accurate.
How ridiculous. Photo-document, remove the body parts and body, and open the line. Train wheels rolling on high rails will not disturb any evidence on the track.
@@wicked-w7l No. We have bagged body parts. "Parts is parts" - fast food TV advertisement. Ridiculous to close the line and cause so many people so much problem. Train wheels on rails will not disturbody parts on the road bed.
Someone got hit by a train where I work, it was suicide he purposely walked right into as they were crossing it according to his friend that was walking with him. The train was stopped for 3 hours. Both lines were stopped. The fire, ambulance and police came out, news crews and then coroner came out to collect the body. After that CSX investigation unit came out, interviewed the engineer, had him test horn and bell and relieved him for the day. They later reviewed in cabin video to confirm the friend and engineers story.
AMGamingHD why do people trespass in the first place? The Acela is a high speed train. It gets up to 150 MPH in Rhode Island. It is kinda stupid when u think of it. Don't trespass, u know trains travel on the line.
Josh French’s RUclips channel for trains “tresspasser” may be code for “someone intentionally walked in front of a train”. It could be that the “trespasser” wasn’t just hanging around watching trains and accidentally got hit.
Try to live beside railroad tracks, and enjoy the hard slams of carts after emergency stops at 3am in the morning. That, and Diesel train vibrations rattling your house all night. I'd rather have those overheads, so if they stop, i'd hear a calm pur from the locomotive. Or better yet, sweet silence.

Aww r.i.p
People just don't listen, even after someone just got hit by a train! That's how these thing happen!
Nice horn action from that 1st Acela, stinks the person got hit by the Acela but it's their own fault for just "taking a shortcut" on 150mph tracks
Well, of course it's their own fault. I think they fully well knew that. They were "taking a shortcut" in a different sense.
Its A Blue Moon Seeing Acela's Going THAT Slow
this was my childhood. used to watch these day and night.
I forgot that station sits on a curve. Nice catch of the buses and all the trains.
try getting on an inbound train in the middle of winter there, especially when the steps are a little slippery
Getting hit by an Acela? That guy might not be still in one piece! Good video!
I live here and apparently some drunk dude went onto the train tracks at like 2 am and got hit by the Acela

Just saw MBTA's new "Heroes" car today, and it looked beautiful. Keep your eyes out man!

That was an MBTA transit police suv. They were making sure all of the MBTA buses got to Sharon and if they needed anymore.

why are the platforms so low, in Britain they are the same height as the doors
UkStormer79 A lot of them are raised on the NEC but some of the older stations have lowered platforms.

Why do trains start ringing the bell and flashing lights when arriving to station?
Standard Procedure (also to warn dumbfucks who didn't hear the audio warning)
Bell automatically sounds when the horn blows. And the ditch lights flash automatically too.

Usually to let people know that they’re coming and that they need to move.
It would have different to see regionals stop and pick up people headin to boston or providence.
just FYI, the plural of "bus" is "buses" -- but wow, talk about a carefully crafted term: "trespasser strike"
