I worked the Canton Junction station in the early to mid 80s. Great place to work. Was ways getting “bumped” by someone senior on the roster.
Those Amtraks really blasted you with a blizzard of snow

Waaa, I miss the glory days of the NEC: Non-rebuilt Kawasakis, MBB cab cars, F40PH-2Cs and old GP40MCs without e-bells and LED lights. But, a positive thing is the South Side is nearly done in getting the new Rotems, so that’s something to look forward too. The South will be all double-deckers in three more years. No more single-level equipment. Now, the CTC-3s, BTC-3s, CTC-1Bs and BTC-1Bs are all gone and I miss them. The classic NEC with single-level equipment back in 2017, they’ll be all gone by the end of 2027.

I think the mbta commuter rail need to expand from Boston to providence from there to new haven and Stamford make connections to the Connecticut commuter rail that goes to other parts of Connecticut and Springfield mass also connections to the metro north going into nyc we need to connect all of our commuter rail lines together just in case Amtrak goes on strike or what ever happens to Amtrak in the near future. If mid Atlantic states can connect their rail lines together northeast corridor can do the same. Plus it will cost less riding from Stamford or new haven to Boston than taking Amtrak which a lot of the times those trains just pass by a lot of those stations. It’s time for Boston to connect more with neighboring states I believe MBTA can make a lot four trips a day isn’t bad.
the mbta has tried expanding southern into rhode island, however they have trouble with unprofitable ridership in those new areas. as far as into CT that'll cross into SLE & Metro North territory; a scenario very unlikely to come to fruition
What is the point of a commuter train if it goes to other states?
