It’s so easy to be moved, by so much of the incredible music John Williams has created, for so many of the greatest movies ever made. He is truly a gift.
@@johnp2426 Especially if you hear it with headphones and from the very beginning, when it starts out light and soft (when the kid is reading from the comic book) and then flies up toward the stars and the kettle drums and then...magic! Richard Donner at the last minute decided (rightfully) that they needed a little intro from the comic book to the main music and so John had to create that first part before the main theme. He is just amazing: ruclips.net/video/Rk1aQx9hTaE/видео.html It also tricks you a bit by putting that tiny screen on the screen and then expands to that full Panavision wide screen when the words come towards you. Maestro Williams, all your music is important. It saved this life (mine), growing up in not so nice neighborhoods your music introduced me to the orchestra and a greater purpose in life. You sir gave that young Puerto Rican kid wings on which to fly on. Thank you for all of your work
Cant describe this man in words. It's only feelings. I'm 36 years old and loved watching all the Spielberg movies growing up and listening to the music from them. I guess I just thought that was the norm. Little did I know.....
Man, I have nothing to say. All I have to say is that, John Williams is the best composer we could all have, for every movie. I cannot believe the rise of Skywalker, it’s going to be his last film that he composes the soundtrack. Thank you John Williams, for all of your amazing music in Star Wars and in Harry Potter. I honestly, will say that, every time I watch every movie from Star Wars or from Harry Potter, makes me want to cry, because your soundtrack brings me to tears in a good way. So thank you for all of your hard work
I swear, watching John Williams compose live at the Hollywood Bowl was just phenomenal. I loved all his music ever since I was little and hearing his music live was emotional for me.
I can remember listening to the double Star Wars LP like a giant symphony. Beautiful subtle, powerful composing makes his music work like an automatic scene creator in the brain. What great gifts he gives us.
I'm today years old when I learned about John Williams. I had a dream about Superman (1978). When I woke up I wanted to hear the song while I was getting ready...I looked on the list of all my favorite childhood songs and saw he composed them...wow!!! Glad I got a chance to learn who this genius is while he is still here with us. 😊
He's 87. I'm already dreading a World without him. May he be the only person that lives forever. (I know he will... through his music) We're privileged by him still walking amongst us.
Marvelous story. Marvelous man. Many of his movie scores have made the films way better than they would have been otherwise. If you watch a lot of movies, as I do, you can almost know immediately certain composers that you're listening to before being told. James Horner, Hans Zimmer and the incomparable John Williams have a sound all their own.
‘One of the best’, ‘Epic’, ‘World class’, ‘Historic’ aren’t enough to describe John Williams. He is simply just legendary. The Albert Einstein of movie music.
This man together with Steven Spielberg created Jurassic Park and Schindler's List in same year... Let that sink in. I cry everytime i hear any piece he has created. No other composer in their life can create so many iconic themes like Maestro John Williams has created ever. Period.
One of the greatest things ever was when I went to the Star Wars 40th anniversary panel at Star Wars Celebration 2017. It was always one of my dreams to see John Williams conduct live. I honestly thought I’d never see it happen. I’ve never been close to the places he performs and with his age I saw it as a far off dream. But that surprise when he came out and conducted for us was one of the most amazing surprises of my life. I’ll never forget it.
John Williams is my favorite composer , his music means so much to me . Star Wars is one as well as the Superman theme. There are too many to name . God bless this man to live forever. The day I hear of his death will be like losing my Dad again , my Dad was a very big fan of John Williams. I love your compositions Mr Williams.
Such a wonderful man and composer! Being a trumpet player I have played and performed his music for many years and it is always such a joy to play! If our world is still around in 200 years Maestro William's will belong to the ages like Bach, Brahms and Beethoven; and he will be equally famous!
The greatest musical composer of our modern times. Of all his brilliance and everything that he has done my favorite by far is the score for the original superman the movie. It still makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck and on my arms when I hear it. There is nothing more regal and uplifting than its main theme in all of cinematic history.
"We really need a better composer than I am for this film" "I know, but they're all dead" Couldn't agree more! I love John Williams so much; a true genius.
Yeah it captures something pure and innocent in the heart, it elevates the film probably more then any other movie, without it it could not have been a masterpiece I’d say
Everything in it is just perfection. But within that perfection "The bike chase" is the one I can listen over and over again a watch every second in my mind of that secuence without actually watch the movie...and I cry and get the goosebumps and everything. That's why I absolutely love that sweet genius of a man.
If you want a big lift for your spirits, search for the music "Exultate Justi" by JW and sing along to the version JW himself is conducting. You should be able to find the lyrics on the internet.
I was a music major in college and none of the music teachers respected him. They’re just jealous. He’s the greatest. They say he borrowed from real classical compsers but none of them made his great themes. His Empire Strikes Back soundtrack is the best!
Of all the great people in the world who I have not met, John Williams is the one I most want to meet. His music defined my childhood. When the music for Star Wars began on that May evening in 1977, my 10 year old jaw fell open and remained opened for the rest of the movie. Then Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Superman, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Empire Strikes Back, E.T., Temple of Doom, Return of the Jedi, Last Crusade and so on. All of them elevated their respective movies to a level they would not have achieved otherwise. As Steven Spielberg put it, there is no greater time during the making of a movie than when you get to hear the movie with music for the first time, live in the orchestra room. Man, what I wouldn't give to have been there for Star Wars. Steven said that when they were recording the music for Raiders (I think that's which one it was. Might have been E.T.) he ruined the take accidentally by blurting out "Bravo!" before it had completed. On E.T. Steven actually made one of the scenes longer so that John's music could be expanded (when Elliot is flying his bike for the first time, I think).
Watching Sunday Night Football right now on NBC. Every time I watch the show, I notice and enjoy the John Williams themes throughout the game. It is but one small example of this man's genius. Who else living today has the creative powers to define and capture the essence of things with music, that words and pictures alone could never match in descriptive power? Great music has the power to capture our emotions like nothing else. Hence the goosebumps.
We must protect this man at all costs
Amen
I will, without delay, take this oath.

Maestro Williams is my hero and unquestionably a living legend. His work is unparalleled. ‘Sea Attack Number One’ from ‘Jaws’ is cinematic perfection and is my personal favorite.
It’s so easy to be moved, by so much of the incredible music John Williams has created, for so many of the greatest movies ever made. He is truly a gift.
Anyone else get a little misty-eyed like me when they hear the Superman theme?
I have been a Star Wars fan since I was 5 years old and love the music but the Superman theme is by far the best he has ever composed.
No, I got goose bumps instead :)
He is just amazing: ruclips.net/video/Rk1aQx9hTaE/видео.html
It also tricks you a bit by putting that tiny screen on the screen and then expands to that full Panavision wide screen when the words come towards you. One of greatest movie openings of all time.
I *always* tear when I listen the first notes of the Superman theme. It's unbelievable.
OMG...I thought. I was the only tearing up at Superman. So glad you people exist. We need to connect
He's our Tchaikovsky.
more like Wagner
He surpasses Tchaikovsky by far. And that's coming from a Tchaikovsky fan.
offscreen 6 he doesn’t come close lol
Clearly it's subjective, so why bother arguing about it?
He stole from those composers, thats why he reminds you of them
Man, I have nothing to say. So thank you for all of your hard work
He's retiring from Star Wars but will still compose for other films.
The Maestro! All those movies woulda been half what they were without him
1/3
This man is one of the very few that can connect us all.
Thank you, Sunday Morning🌞 and thank you, John Williams!🌟
Music, no words, no lyrics, just music. And yet so recognizable and stirring. John Williams is an American master.
There are a few geniuses in this world and John Williams is definitely one of them.
I’m literally crying because of all the greatest scores created by this legendary composer. Thank you so much Mr. John Williams.
The man is an authentic genius and a cultural treasure. I hope he never dies...
Mr. Williams is a true National Treasure and one of the greatest composers in the last one hundred years or so.
I swear, watching John Williams compose live at the Hollywood Bowl was just phenomenal. I loved all his music ever since I was little and hearing his music live was emotional for me.
His music exults, moves, fills us with joy, excitement and nostalgia. Is there a greater gift than that? Thank you Maestro. Thank you Mr. Williams!
Greatest movie composer of all time, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Superman, Jurassic Park, Jaws, Harry Potter, ET, Home Alone. He’s an absolute legend!
Truly the best composer of this century. He has been a great gift to this nation and this world.
He's 87. I'm already dreading a World without him. May he be the only person that lives forever. (I know he will... through his music) We're privileged by him still walking amongst us.
It’s comforting to know that classical music makes John Williams feel the same way that his music makes me feel
2legit64 also Jerry Goldsmith..
Period.
John Williams is the most legendary soundtrack creator ever!
Listening superman theme give me the goose bumps. Sip Chris Reeves. John Williams u are indeed the maestro
His last name was Reeve, not Reeves. ;)
His score for Superman defined the character and will continue to define the character for generations. Amazing.
My favorite American composer, and one of my favorite composers ever.
who is your most favorite
Finally a reasonable comment. Keyword: "my"
The greatest musical composer of our modern times. Of all his brilliance and everything that he has done my favorite by far is the score for the original superman the movie. It still makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck and on my arms when I hear it. There is nothing more regal and uplifting than its main theme in all of cinematic history.
"We really need a better composer than I am for this film"
"I know, but they're all dead"
Couldn't agree more! I love John Williams so much; a true genius.
This guys music is legendary. Nobody will ever come close
I was obsessed with the score for "E.T." as a 14 year old. I still consider it his best work.
Yeah it captures something pure and innocent in the heart, it elevates the film probably more then any other movie, without it it could not have been a masterpiece I’d say
The E.T. score is a masterpiece. For me, I think his score for Hook was amazing, too.
Everything in it is just perfection. But within that perfection "The bike chase" is the one I can listen over and over again a watch every second in my mind of that secuence without actually watch the movie...and I cry and get the goosebumps and everything. That's why I absolutely love that sweet genius of a man.
@@ajs8788 , "Over the Moon" from E.T. is beautiful.
Revenge of the Sith is the greatest music score of all time and you cant change my mind
I've listened to his scores more than i've watched any of the movies
probably the #1 artist i listen to
a modern master
I am right now going through turmoil, this man makes me feel so much better, this video made me feel better.. I want to meet you mr. Williams
If you want a big lift for your spirits, search for the music "Exultate Justi" by JW and sing along to the version JW himself is conducting. You should be able to find the lyrics on the internet.
You are not alone. John Williams’ music is always great therapy for me
If his music doesn't give you goosebumps, you're not human.
I've always loved his film scores...incredible composer..such a wonderful talented man.
The fact that such a master of music thinks he can always do better and is so humble, is amazing!!
I was a music major in college and none of the music teachers respected him. They’re just jealous. He’s the greatest. They say he borrowed from real classical compsers but none of them made his great themes.
His Empire Strikes Back soundtrack is the best!
Who and why has anyone give a thumbs down to this video? This man is a true treasure and we are lucky to be alive during his time.
Classical music elitists who think Williams is a plagiarists.
teary eyed
