    Awesome pro tip on draining your tank with the water off. I kept the water on and didn’t think to just let gravity drain the tank once the siphoning begins. I wasted so much water draining my tanks over the years 🤦🏽‍♂️ Thanks again, and great content!

    I'm new and glad RUclips brought me to your videos, but l feel like this update is almost exactly the same as the first video. I came to this...part 2 of sort to find out the part of hose that is cut and I feel i didnt get answer from you. Please explain how you connect the end of the hose that you cut and how to connect the larger tube that pick up the waste and where to buy it.

    Good Morning Anthony! I do water changes the same way and man it is so EASY!!! Life is good :)

    I think these basic videos are so necessary for people as new aquarists may not have ever seen a siphon system and are thinking of leaving the hobby or not expanding due to "bucket carrying syndrome."
    And as an added bonus, instead of wasting water down the sink (both old tank water and clean tap water) you can place one end outside in your garden and the other end in your aquarium. If you're in a basement... you can always use a water pump to get it up to your garden.

    • @UnconventionalAquatics
      @UnconventionalAquatics  6 лет назад

      Catfish Cave yeah I definitely agree, hopefully it can help someone out. I personally use a pump method and pump out to my yard as well. Makes water changes super quick. I generally only use this system for fill up purposes. Thank you for watching and the kind feedback 👍🏻 much appreciated 🤜🏻🤛🏻

    Hi Anthony... wow when I think of how I lugged pails before I got my python. Crazy!! I also have a cheaper version that I DIY'd.
    I actually used snap on connectors on the tap. It's super amazing and excellent price too. Thanks for sharing and making our lives easier!! Have a great weekend!!😁🌿💗💦

    I'm late but, if you have problems with the siphon because of tank height, you can attach it to a handheld shower hose, just take the handheld showerhead off and use a 1/4 inch to 3/4 inch adapter. The same adapter will also allow you to hook it up to a pull down sink faucet, again just remove the end of the faucet and use the adapter.

    Hi Anthony, great job with the video. I like the DIY water change system you put together. I didn’t realize they had those blue pump heads available. I have been using the Python for years. So far, so good. I would sure think that the various faucet adapters for the Python would fit that one, and they are really cheap. Thanks for sharing.

    50ft is a long way. I get almost zero suction and as such using a gravel vac on this or the python etc is useless unless you are just sucking things off the top of sand. However I have moved to using an outside spigot and once syphon is established I unscrew it and just let it drain out in the middle of the yard. I then reattach to a facet inside to refill so I can control the water temp. I find once syphon is established you don’t need the water running anymore to pull the water. Physics take over and save you a ton of wasted water. Depending on the height of your tank vs height of your facet you could possible do the same thing. Once it starts pulling water simply turn the facet off. It will continue to drain until the water level in the tank equalizes with the height of the facet. For this reason an outside spigot is the best way to go. You could even walk around with the hose and use it to water plants if you want an amazing garden. To be honest all anyone really needs is a hose and a facet to attach it too. The syphon device really just saves you from going old school and having to suck the air out one end to start the syphon. I did this for years on my tanks before I have finally had enough mouthfuls nasty tank water and got the adapter.

    Hey Anthony! I was wondering when you'd redo this vid. You did miss a few details in the first one but i didn't want to do the nagging "girlfriend" thing and not let you live it down... Lol...
    Seriously, thanks for the re-edit. Your tips do prove to be very useful. When you remember to explain all details that is.... Sorry, couldnt resist... Have you stopped the tank of the week thing or do you plan to make them once a month instead? My newest theme tank vid has been up for a little while and you haven't left a comment. Bad boy! Kidding... When you have some time check it out. I know you are busy but i know you'll love this tank!

    • @UnconventionalAquatics
      @UnconventionalAquatics  6 лет назад

      Ha-y-n Brian Hey bro thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the redo of this video. I may start doing the tank of the week again in the future, but it honestly did seem to appeal to many people. Once the channel breaks 1k, I’ll do a question video to see if people are interested in it. It takes so long to edit, I don’t want to waste my time if nobody cares to watch it you know

    • @bettawhisperer3119
      @bettawhisperer3119 6 лет назад

      Unconventional Aquatics hear ya! I know you want to make content that's good quality. the way I do mine is I'll make several small clips and put them together into 1 clip then upload it. It saves me a lot of time that way. and it's easier to redo a 2 min clip than a 8 min clip. Plus you only need to edit the vid you feature. Just a thought.
      But I do believe it's worth it. I won't get into why because you already know that. It's all about the time and taking care of the little guy will always come first. So do what you can, I ain't gonna go anywhere.

    So I’ve always been so confused on how people can fill their tanks with water straight from the sink. What about the chlorine? Is there some kind of chlorine filter? Why doesn’t the chlorine kill off the bacteria? I’ve always put my water into 3 different 15 gallon containers with dechlorinator. It would be amazing if I could get rid of those buckets in my room. Does anyone have any answers about the chlorine from the tap going straight into your aquarium during water changes? thanks.

    I do wish commentators on RUclips video would stop waving their hands around when attempting to show a piece of kit either place it on a flat surface and use a camera zoom or hold it STILL in your hand until you have finished talking about it
