Hi there. Great review. The Pan and Tilt feature from their G3 Camera CAN be used in HomeKit via exportable scenes from the Aqara app, so I’m assuming this camera will be able to too. So long as you assign key positions in the app, and save them as Aqara scenes, you can then export those camera position scenes into HomeKit and it works REALLY well. I’ve been doing it for weeks now!
Does this mean you the video HAS to streaming through Aqara (privacy concern) or is the Aqara app just DEFINING the scenes and exporting those definitions to Home Kit. Can I get the multiple key positions feature in Home Kit WITHOUT my video streaming to a Chinese manufacture? @@beardfm
Great review - considering swapping out my Logitech Circle View as I am finding them super unreliable, drops outs randomly - very annoying, costly exercise - The Aqara looks like a much better option.
I have set it up in my living room. But I receive more than 500 notifications in a day because it sees my wife and child. Although, it has recognised them from my album photos still the notifications are sent. But, in my settings the options you have in the video for known persons, unknown persons and faces aren’t shown in my E1. It’s very frustrating because I want the camera notifications if a burglar came into the house but not sending all the time my family.
How does it work if you place it up high on something like a shelf? Some PTZ cameras have a hard time looking down, not sure if I can mount mine to a ceiling
If it's mounted upside-down it has a pretty wide range of motion. It won't go perpendicular to the floor, but you can see a good portion of a room I think
@@beardfm Aqara are really big on saying the power source needs to be 5V2A, how important is that and how long of a cable can be used if I wanted to tuck this away somewhere that there isn't power close by?
Great camera BUT... it said to connect to 2.4 Ghz and that was the only way to get it into Aqara and subsequently HomeKit. The Aqara installation video also shows the screen which was dissapointing , I have a 6e capable router.
yes @@beardfm I do and it is connected to it (now have 5 of them). I am wondering how is this a wifi6 device given it connect to wifi4. I was expecting it would connect to my 6e SSID. Curious as to how it works (yes it is snappy)
@@beardfm 146 degree camera is Aqara Camera Hub G2H Pro. I purchased it for 146 degree and it's more expensive then regular (because of hub), but you can also connect zigbee devices. This camera is for company, but for inside/outside for home 120 is enough.
I use bluerams now, looks exactly like this one, however unless you pay for a subscription you cannot record events and/or view the events away from home. Well, it alerts you and you can try to view what’s going on but doesn’t work well if at all. You CAN put an SD card in it but all that does is record events you can view when you get back to the camera and take the SS card out and view on a computer/ipad/etc. is this different as bluerams looks identical in software as well
I had to return mine. Setup failed 3 times before it finally connected. Supports wifi6 but only on the 2.5 GHz band, constantly lost connection to the nighthawk router. For $50 more you can grab the G3 from aquara that has face recognition, pet and human detection, supports 5 GHz wifi, hand gestures that you can automate off of, and is a hub with a security system build it.
The downside with this cameras, at last for aqara and xiaomi, is that you never know what kind of software features you will get. For regular users maybe any of them are good. Let's say if it's for outside and you expect to record when motion is detected. Some cameras from same brand detect and record motion perfectly, and some record stuff where is no any motion (not even color changed), or even there is motion detected but it's not recorded (if you use continuous recording, and you have markers where was motion detected). They all claim to reord on motion, but you never know how good is it, even from same brand but different model.
@@beardfm How do you mean? Camera has his own software that recognizes motion and record to microsd card. I don't have iPhone so I am not sure what are the benefits and how homekit works ? Can you explain briefly?
I have one at home. Integrating the camera into Android and HomeKit is tedious. And also on all devices in the family so that everyone can control it 🙈... And if it's deactivated via the Aqara app, it still shows a picture in Home Kit. Surveillance from Shenzen?
The China fear is wild. Show me a camera/doorbell not made in china, it’s silly. I’m paranoid, but I can’t imagine someone in China bothering to check in on my front door.

Are you able set those preset video locations via HomeKit so as a workaround to pan the camera?
You have to set them up in the Aqara app and then port them over as Scenes which you can run in HomeKit
