    Many of the smart devices are 2.4ghz wifi only. I use a Google nest router and to my knowledge I can’t turn it down to 2.4ghz to set up any devices that require that. Any idea what I can do as a work around?

      @Chenny0 Месяц назад +1

      You will need to have a separate router or you can use hotspot on your phone (make sure to turn on enhanced comparability). Set the name and password to be same as your nest router. Then turn off your other router or hotspot and the device will connect to the nest router.

      There is nothing you need to do. The nest router is smart and will only apply 2.4ghz automatically

    Drum stool and Ugreen nexode plug is what I picked up. Not huge discounts. 5 euros less than price charged yesterday. But hey something is something.

      Hey that's great! The Nexode looks like a cool charger.

    Question if you don't mind - are these TP-Link plugs very reliable? I don't care much about the price. I want reliability above all. Would you recommend a different brand for reliability? I have Belkin WeMo's now and they suck - bought them around 4 years ago.

    I’d really recommend changing your opinion of Orbi 6e mesh, I have 2 satellites and went through 2 routers, still facing device dropped connections despite having great signal. The company refuses to actually help me and changes their facts constantly depending who you talk to there. Switching to tp-link deco before I plunge into unifi, but I think unifi is the best choice with no subscriptions and full functionality.

      Thanks for sharing. What a bummer. You are adding to the list of feedback to tell me I should revisit this choice

      Your choice doesn't work for me. I just did a little research and found out that UniFi doesn't work with my browser of choice. Why not? Seems like it should work with any browser. Besides that it's only 802.11ac and costs $322 ($375 list) for a dual-band router. I visited the actual Ubiquiti store and all I saw were enterprise products and nothing at all for residential. Maybe they left the residential business? Looks like the one that would fit my needs best would be the TP-Link WiFi 6 AX6000. It comes with 8 x Gigabit LAN ports, WPA3, 2 x USB 3.0 Type-A & Type-C, and free protection from virus and malware and stays up to date for as long as you own your equipment (or they go out of business). That sounds pretty good to me at $190.

    Can you tell us what iPhone stand you have when reviewing the Eve Play (7:38 mark)?

    Thanks Erick. I really wish someone (EVE) would come out with just a light that looks like the outdoor camera light. Where I have the camera I have two fixtures and would like to have the other fixture be just a light that matches the look

    Australia here and I can’t get the Eve Play. Is there anything else similar that I can connect older analog speakers too???

      The Apple HomePod has a temperature and humidity in it already and you can use it as a speaker as well. I bought it in officeworks for 140 AUD. Though I wouldn’t recommend it for use as a desktop speaker if that’s your goal. It works well only for controlling the smartphone, temperature and humidity sensing, a speaker for an Apple TV or with YT and Apple Music. On pretty much any other sound, it will have a sound delay

    @Eric Welander Why don't any smart locks actually lock the pin on the handle? would go with one but I never just lock my deadbolt so I'm still on the fence.

    Apologies if this is an obvious or stupid question, but what’s the big difference between the Eve Room and the Eve Weather? The weather seems to be so much cheaper and I’m assuming it has the same great sensors. Yes I understand they’re marketed differently but couldn’t one just use the weather if all they wanted was the temperature and humidity of a room?

    • @RRWerken
      @RRWerken Месяц назад

      Room has an air quality sensor, the weather doesn’t.

    Ubiquiti doesn’t seem to have ANYTHING available for WiFi7. I’d like to go ahead and get 7 now, even though Apple products don’t yet support 802.11be. What about the consumer offering in the Amplify Alien which Apple sells (WiFi 6e)?
    I really need to invest in a mesh system, to take advantage of wireless backhaul. Even in an apartment, my Wifi 5 signal sucks - my fiber gateway / router is limited to a master closet, near an outside wall. Living room where my desk is? 200 Mbps. Add VPN for work, and I’m at 11 (limit is due to work routing).

      They have their U7 line of APs…..

    • @KriegAdler09
      @KriegAdler09 Месяц назад

      I happened to stumble across that today. Installing APs in an apartment however isn’t a solution.

      @@KriegAdler09 I didn't realize you're in an apartment- You're right, you just need a mesh system. I like the idea of WiFi 7 but its really not practical, its blazing fast but limited by your slowest device. I'm still on WiFi 5 and 100 mpbs internet with moderate use including gaming and no complaints.

      I feel like Netgear are a bunch of scam artists. I forget exactly what the problem was, but something wasn't working for me and customer service didn't even try to help me. Besides that, you only get 90 days of free customer service before they charge you for it. They are also very pushy as far as trying to rope you in with the monthly subscription security plan. Also, if it's possible to change the password they give you when you first set it up, I never figured out how to do it.
