Hm. While watching this I reminded myself of the situation I had on Writing camp. We were discussing the pacing of the story. It was about some kind of island we come to, where the volcano is about to explode. i don't remember the details but finally, the crisis is averted and everyone is happy. And of curiosity I just asked "But what if it suddenly does? What if everyone dies, because they have nowhere to hide? What then?" and the teacher looked at me weird and went "You have to satisfy the reader" ... But now I wonder is that really what needs to happen in the story? To satisfy the other party? Aside from that even, Its been so long since I truly felt the dread in the videogame in just the setting. I also love the use of looping music notes, reminds me a lot of Yume Nikki, basically because its the only game I remember that used this type of music. Over here there is no insentive in who dies - it goes random, its the best and simultanisly the worst ending you can think of in this situation. And its so... fascinating. It truly is.
Well satisfaction can be given in more ways than just "happily ever after". Look through the whole comment section, its a ton of messages saying the same thing almost: "this is depressing/sucks, but i love it"
@@alexradice8163 well yeah, but the endings title implies that after getting to high altitude, Seere lived out the story of the hero of time in his head. While in reality, they were just there for a few minutes until Caim and Angelus settled on attacking the Queen Beast.

I'm one of those filthy hipsters who played this game when it came out and then all Yoko Taro's following games relating to it. It's surreal seeing his work finally get noticed now that Automata got popular.
Y'know, after rewatching it, it's really odd that the grotesqueries(?) have such a strong reaction to Arioch eating one of their own. Are they angered? Scared? or did they simply not wish for the residents of Midgard to get any ideas of how to continue surviving in this hellish situation?
I think it's more about her sins. "Having been overcome by insanity, Arioch murdered and devoured young children. Her crazed mind thought that by doing so she could "protect" them within her womb. After these bloody incidents had come up many times, Arioch was captured by the Imperial Army, and taken into custody. ... More than anything, Arioch enjoys feeding on flesh - particularly that of children. It is possible that this urge was caused by her weapon and not her madness alone, as is implied by the weapon's story in Drakengard 2. "
@@YourReadThisWrong You'd think that if it was sins, Leonard would immediately get slaughtered by the grotesqueries first. Or Verdelet (because of his cowardice and inaction constantly endangering others, while having the nerve to judge people just trying to survive.) Yet Leonard seems to redeem himself with resisting his urge to react to Seere's hug in a creepy way & the self sacrifice, which would normally be rewarded since it's atonement. However, all he received was death. My point still stands. They don't judge logically if they are in fact judging at all.

There are magical deals between two beings called "pacts". You fuse your soul with another adn you become one. You gain more power, heal from damage, and etc. once you make a pact but you soul something in return. For Caim, his voice. For Leonard, his Sight. And for Seere, his time. This makes him immortal and breaking his pact would return his time. As you saw, they launched Seere down to the Queen Beast and then Seere broke his pact with the Golem. So the black thing that spread and grew to reach the exosphere was his time and in effect, every grotesquerie baby and the Queen Beast were trapped in time and thus they saved the world.

That Seere's chain reaction did freeze Midgard's time, however, the Woman tried to save herself by separating from her womb and go through a freshly open portal, only for a drained Caim and a wounded Angelus to give chase before the black time freezing wave covered them.
Interesting theory, i like it
@@volarex5311thanks.
and the aliens wanted to come here why?
Lancaster Greenfield They didn't go there, they appeared on Earth( the world caim and the dragon were teleported to during Ending E)
Not exactly, they are in another Earth.

Lancaster Greenfield, nobody knows. I guess they just wanted a place to live.

Can I off myself because of this comment?
This is the end i like the most even been tragic since it was a complete sacrifice of all the character to get this result, also if Drakengard setting development as our maybe in the future their get weapon to destroy those monster, they weren´t so difficult
"Death need not be the end of hope!"
The true ending to the game (the other 2, D2 and Nier are just different timelines)
What then?" and the teacher looked at me weird and went "You have to satisfy the reader"
...
Look through the whole comment section, its a ton of messages saying the same thing almost: "this is depressing/sucks, but i love it"
The wild dreams of a deluded child.
This ending was a dream of what Seere hoped would happen from a story he was told of from his mom.
The hero from the story is the hope that lived inside everyone
@@alexradice8163 well yeah, but the endings title implies that after getting to high altitude, Seere lived out the story of the hero of time in his head. While in reality, they were just there for a few minutes until Caim and Angelus settled on attacking the Queen Beast.
@@huluandebayman they only imply that the dream is wild and the child is diluted

Who else binge watched those after finishing NieR Automata?
*before
Me. It is so weird that it went from fantasy world with magical creatures like Lord of the Rings, to Medieval future with Zelda-like creatures (Twili to be exact), to Dystopian Future with Sci-Fi.
I'm one of those filthy hipsters who played this game when it came out and then all Yoko Taro's following games relating to it. It's surreal seeing his work finally get noticed now that Automata got popular.
This is beyond fucked
I love it
@@littlekitsune1 I would love to know more about your experience.
Or Verdelet (because of his cowardice and inaction constantly endangering others, while having the nerve to judge people just trying to survive.)
Caim is kind of hard to kill so it makes sense why he wouldn't be killed fast.
@@marialuke2116 We cannot hope to understand the mind of Yoko Taro, only enjoy it giving us babies with such pretty pearlies.
@@marialuke2116 But Leonard hasn't sinned. He was born a monster, but he refused to give in to his monstrous tendencies, trying to protect children rather than prey on them. He's the complete opposite of Arioch.
@@kaiyamya9882 but he also gave into his urges and in doing so ended up delaying his ability to save his younger siblings. Because of his they burned and died.
Yet Leonard seems to redeem himself with resisting his urge to react to Seere's hug in a creepy way & the self sacrifice, which would normally be rewarded since it's atonement. However, all he received was death.
My point still stands. They don't judge logically if they are in fact judging at all.
Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion (1997)

something about these games like INTENSELY stresses me out
best ending out of all the taro games
This game was more disturbing than people think
Floating giant babies sounds like the dumbest we-run-out-of-ideas concept ever yet this game manages to make it feel as real, terrifying, apocalyptic and disturbing as possible. This game deserves a spot in a museum.
This ending is kino
None of the endings apart from A are "happy", in fact, they are all pure horror. I mean, this game is one too. Also the whole thing reminds me of Berserk, and i am quite sure it was inspired by it.
It is. Yoko Taro has pretty stated that Caim was inspired on Guts and is pretty much a rip-off. Ending E is also a complete rip-off of the End of Evangelion.
Even ending A is terrible seeing as to how it's just delaying the inevitable.
@@OldTrenchHey if Drakengard 2 happens after it then it's honestly alright

Well, funfact. The game's map is actually a downside version of Europe's map ;) so yes, it is Italy, and there are all other countries too.

Its more obvious in Drakengard 3 if you want more details.

Im having troubles understanding how NieR became a sequel of drakengards ending.
so with ending e of drakengard the mother beast dies and pieces of itself infects modern tokyo and years later nier happens. for an in depth explanation there’s a video you can look up
Soooo they stopped time to stop the end of the world? Am I off? I dont know a thing about Drakengard
They stopped time in that big zone covered in black, not all of the time
Ya
@@JV-km9xk Quite a roundabout way to save the world, but I cant fault the effectiveness. I just came back and noticed I left this comment. Are most of these Drakengard games worth going through aside from 3? I have my sights on 3 already but are the other two worth it?

wait so if this is canon then how does Caim show up in drakengard 2
there are multiple timelines in drakengard. ending a is where caim survives and continues on to drakengard 2. ending d, he dies but saves the world from the watchers. ending e is where he and the queen beast get transported to another world and dies. ending E leads to the Nier series. they are canon in their own right but everybody sticks to the ending E timeline since that's where nier is.
