manual lariat damn 😍 jealous
If it makes it any better this truck was built 7/99 I was born 7/5/89. The date coded items I have found under the hood (Hoses, paper tags and such) are 6/28-7/2. So This truck was built round the time I was born only ten years later. CRAZY lol. The story of this truck and How I got it is in the planning stages. I have a few videos before of that one. There is so much content coming. If you haven't subscribed then please subscribe. Tons of cool stuff over on Instagram also. NEW videos on MONDAY extra content goes up Wednesday or Friday.
Yea I'm sure lariat had a manual shifter... lol
My 2002 7.3 starts every time. Love my true diesel.
Thank you. Real man stuff. Did you remember to hit that subscribe button! So much good content coming. Video's every Monday at 4:30.
Amazing video. Very informative. You really know your truck.
Thank you I am glad you enjoyed it. And thank you for commenting.
Great video. I use this technique every day.
Thank you for commenting.
I love the sound of cold-starting a 7.3! 😁
I totally agree! Thank you for commenting.
7.3 life. 😎👍👌
ANY OTHER WAY? THANK YOU! Don't forget to subscribe.
Yep glow plugs stay on about two minutes. If you get a voltage gauge you can clearly see the voltage go up as soon as glow plugs shut down.
I never start my truck in the winter until glow plugs completely shut off and voltage goes up
No need to cycle glow plugs twice
Yes everyone has their own techniques. Keeping an eye on a voltmeter is a good way. Some guys do LEDs lights. The longer you own your truck the more you understand it. It will depend on the truck and the conditions how many times you have to cycle the ignition. No 2 trucks or areas are the same. It is about figuring out what works best for you. Nice cold start !!
Thank you. Please subscribe and follow along for more content like this and so much else.
I let my plugs run for about 20-40 seconds and it starts unplugged every time. I usually let it idle for a minute then kick it into high idle and let it get a bit comfy before I take it down the road. Good ol OBS 7tree. If it don’t work it’s the glow plug relay, just jump it manually and if it works there is the answer.
Thank you for commenting.
How do you kick it into high idle with out steping on the accelerator?
I have a programmer. I run a Hydro chip. I have a video on the chip. I would suggest the Hyrdo chip over any of the competitors.
Your foot works. Some guys use a stick against the seat. If you have an electric seat you can bump it gently but I would just suggest getting a programmer like the hydro chip.
The 6.0 automatic got the double tap feature so it depends on the truck you have. I've heard the 6.4 and 6.7 powerstrokes have a high idle feature also.
I hope this helps. If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask. Thank you for commenting.
I died when the camera fell lol but great video
Ya into the snow bank. That monopod life. lol. Don't forget to subscribe to see more.
Hi great vid and information the only thing I would add is that the glow plugs are on the same length of time regardless if the engine is running or not thanks
Yes running the glow plugs before you start the truck warms the cylinder head and everything included. Making it easier to start the motor. Some people wire an LED to the glow plug circuit so they can watch it tick on and off. Thank you for you comment Don't forget to subscribe.
@@HillsOnTheRoadOfLife yeap, only other thing you should do is plug er in for even easier starts.
I am just impressed that you check your fluids while waiting. May even scare a cat out from under the hood. Lol
Just make sure you have a good charge on your batteries always have good batteries and shell start every time

Lol this vid changed my life forever .

My friends 7.3 needs to be cycled a few times yes he waits about 2 minutes each... Also plugged to the wall all night... Even then its a rough start and smokes alot... My 7.3 with almost 300k... Starts right up in below freezing temps not plugged in. And smokes a very faint haze for about 8 seconds... My wife starts it at times forgetting to let the plugs warm up, key in and crank haha fires right up though. This winter we live in a warm climate though but hopefully next winter it continues to fire up as it always has. 👍
There is something wrong with your friends truck. Either glow plugs, glow plug relay, or block heater. If he leaves it plugged in all night then the upper radiator hose should be warm to the touch in the morning. You can even feel the warmth of the engine as you open the hood if it is really cold out. If nothing is warm then the block heater is shot.
Best of luck!
Ya that seems like somethings not right. My truck starts pretty dang good. Hopefully your friend figures it out and gets it fixed. RUclips likes to unsub people so make sure your subscribed and don't forget the bell. Thank you for commenting.
When I plug my truck in my oil temp at start up is 90-100 F depending on outdoor temp and wind chill. Of course the oil in the pan is cold so the oil temp drops as the the motor runs. But you should be able to notice if the block heater is working or not. RUclips likes to unsub people so make sure your subscribed and don't forget the bell. Thank you for commenting.
Key words : Block Heater ! Plugger in !
Thank you for commenting. Yes a block heater is important but you need to know what your vehicle can handle. There is not electricity everywhere. Nor does everyone have the time to wait for a block heater to warm. The next is electricity use to run it over night instead of waiting. So you use a switch timer to turn it on. That gets us back to there's not electricity everywhere or you forget or Unexpected events happen.
Very precise lol I stay from hotel to hotel traveling for work so I don't always get to plug mine in in the winter so alot of these tips and shit help
You have good injectors and motor for sure. Do you run any fuel additives?
Stanadyne. I have a video about it. An old video but still a video none the less. lol Thank you for commenting.
A little update on my truck, it allways had a rough time starting in 30 degree weather. I found out my motor was not spinning fast enough after a new starter. It starts really easy now.
i have a 95 7.3 and im wondering does your 2000 have the “wait to start” light? i was told to that the glow plugs turn off when that light turns off which causes me to cycle
through the on-off 3-5 times on real
cold mornings.
The way to start light on the dash is on a separate timer circuit from the glow plug relay under the hood
Yes my truck does have the WTS. Check out some of my other videos posted right after this one when my truck broke down I talk about that light alot. The circuit is different from the glow plugs. The light is just like every other dash light. It's an idiot light. Just ignore it. Thank you for commenting.
This is true. Just an idiot light. Thank you for commenting.
What weight of oil you use cause 15w40 like molasses
5w40 Mobil 1 with prolong additive then filtered by wix and also stanadyne fuel additive in every tank
I did my glow plugs and it smoked alot lol
Thank you for commenting.
Is that a gauge cluster on the dash?
Yes I run a Edge CTS2. The review is coming up in the video schedule. Please subscribe to see if I like it. So much great content in the works.
I just started my 97 f350 in -1 f. A little grumpy but it has new bats and glow plugs and relay this fall and i have 293k on it. I let it bare idle till it warms up a little then i turn on my apcm for 1300 rpm.
Perfectly done. Thank you for commenting.
Thats awesome, I wish my 7.3 was standard!
Yes It is nice but it has it's disadvantages. I will be making a video about my transmission. Make sure you Subscribe to see more videos on the truck. It's just getting started.
My 97 f350 has 30k on its e40d which is nice. I gross 22k 700 miles ruffly a year otherwise its a daily driver.
Hi, I have an F350 7.3 manual and I would like to know what mods you have on your truck. Thanks
Well the list most people care about. CAI, 4" downpipe straight to 6" tip, banks big head blow off valve, tuned I think its a 5 blade turbo wheel. I have a list of other things the little things. The things I feel are possibly more important then the list most people care about. I will be making a video on my truck and the little details I have done, the things I love about my truck. Please subscribe to stay up to date on all the content. Thank you.
What air filter is that?
Donaldson Blue with a cloth pre filter. I don't remember the part number right now. I'll make sure I note the part number in my video on the filter. The company I got mine from I wont rep. Terrible customer service. IE Why the logos are turned down/away or covered. On their products. I have multiple companies products on my truck. Make sure you subscribe to see my video on who is the best to buy from.
6637 from napa is the white paper version
I about had heart attack for split second
And I thought these old trucks hated the cold. I'll be damned.

Hot Tip to start any vehicle in the freezing cold:
First - Turn on the headlights for a minute or two! Wait for it...
This step will get the electrolyte chemicals inside the battery to begin moving around, Thus enabling the fluids to move around easier.
This will allow electricity to flow easier with less resistance, thereby releasing more power to the source = much easier starting power.
Proven winter after winter here in Minnesota.
I don't know if I would spend the battery power doing this. If you think about it. When you open the door the light comes on. So this happens. When you turn the truck on and the glow plugs kick on. This happens. The first time you start the truck. This happens. So is it really worth the battery power to turn the headlights on before you start the truck. Well if you have a truck that has day time running lights then the headlights come on without your control. I start my truck as I described in the video. Thank you for commenting.
