Gotta strongly disagree with almost everything negative you said about this book, the self deprecation of the main character made it entertaining and all the characters were hilarious. Now the disbelief you gotta out at the door that kids and parents are all okay with a 10% likelihood of getting eaten by Fright Night monsters is kinda silly and ridiculous but it’s the kinda disbelief needed to make the story work for what it was going for. I’ll give you that lol. Appreciate the bigger swings like shifting perspectives of the two character in the book. It’s one that for sure is aiming to be a farce and a comedy but succeeds at it, for a change. Goosebumps normally misses with those, especially in OG 62. I’ve only read two genuinely hilarious goosebumps books, and this was one. I don’t think it’s a filler book, think it’s actually one of the better Slappyworld books lol. I’m shocked that I’ve been seeing so much positivity towards this one, lately, man hahah. I don’t think it’s as refreshing as something like Diary or Dreamland, or even Evil Twin. It feels like such a dull book, to me. I’m glad some other folks like you and Spongey enjoyed it, but I don’t think the general audience would. Reminds me too much of the overrated Nightmare on Clown Street and all the hate I got in my review for that one being bad lol 😂

And I’d still say the general audience seemed very positive towards it, especially in the reviewer circles. Almost every youtuber that reviewed it liked it, which is why I’m kinda shocked you didn’t. But it’s all good man!

"I Liked Night of the Squawker more than I liked this book" bro is on bath salts. lol. Anyhoo, This one has some filler parts and a weak twist but otherwise it's pretty solid. It had a dark humor element to it and actually tries new things. We have monsters being an accepted thing in this state. Plus, the POV chapters with Charlene. There's good dark (ish) humor to it that I enjoyed. It felt like a refreshing take, which is welcome after a lot of very same-y plots. Even with some wheel spin-y stuff, it has some interesting aspects it gets into. It's one of the more successful comedy books in the series, as there are stakes with the monster. With how mid SlappyWorld can be, this was a solid way to end on that gives hope for the future, oddly enough. It's a flawed but refreshing one to end SlappyWorld on. The first House of Shivers is a step from this but it's good as a start. Now we're done, boy the ranking will be crazy lol
And yet it’s still dull lol. People can sit around and talk about how same-y Goosebumps tends to be, but that’s what makes it work, in my opinion. There’s no reason to mess with a perfectly fine formula, and SlappyWorld tries too hard to do that way too often. This book is a fanatic example of one that I’m just so bored by, and I’m shocked that I’ve heard so much positivity towards it, recently hahah. Thanks for watching!
@@michaelgoosebumpsfan9934 SlappyWorld really doesn't mess with the usual formula enough, it's usually same-y. i'm with the formula these have had for years but it can get tiring when they fall back on the same tired things, it can get dull especially when you get actually good takes on these things or fresh stories all together. It does do more new things with the Slappy stuff and that tends to work well.

Three stars I think I certainly didn't love it but it was different I did like that the goofy stuff got a little repetitive all I'ma remember from this book in a few years is juggling and the stingray lol I also saw you ranked them already that's crazy I skipped two of the books you talked about night of the squawker and slappy in dreamland bc I haven't read them yet with that being said our rankings are going to be very different lol when I finish those two I'll post mine
