Sir, that blade is exquisite! It a wonderful balance of functiona and form, a "Beastly Beauty". Thank you for sharing your work and techniques. Maybe one day you can do a video sharing some of your story, who you are, how you got started forging knives, what drives your passion for this work, and why you make the time to share your work with us.
Beautiful blade, and yes it is a masterpiece !! If I created this knife, I would have to call it a miracle !! Simply because my skill level is nowhere near yours ! Excellent job Sir !!
How many Blacksmiths to make a Blade? 101 One to Actually make the Blade and 100 to tell him everything he did wrong!! Awesome job my man!! Love watching people in creation of something they are passionate about.. Keep em Comin!! 🤙
That is a very attractive knife! After you've quenched the blade in oil, you then plunge the blade into some kind of ash - is that another way of tempering?
@@TuralİBRAHİMOV-0 I never see any tempering happen on these vids. Usually a bladesmith will put the hardened blade into a kiln for 2 cycles to temper it. So, what am I not getting/understanding here?
@nickjanczak9665 That 'ash's looks like Vermiculite, used to slow down cooling after quench. We see he only had a selected portion of the billet hot enough to quench in the engine oil, he only quenched it for moments and then slow the heat loss with the 'ash'. As he does more I shall edit this..., well, the 'ash's is saw dust and wood shavings, I see him brush off the material. This too will stop the heat loss and since any wood debris hold moisture from the air this will cause faster cooling than the Vermiculite, which is a mineral not holding mositure. Must work for his needs, not what most would do at all. Dubious heat treatment and processes like this will yield dubious results. The lack of a true oil quench in fact makes me doubt any quality in a carbon steel blade. The cutters he showed must have been high speed steel HSS rather than high carbon. This is beening treated like O1 though, so unknown what will happen in the long run. I rewatched, he alternated high speed steel with high carbon. This method can create a blade edge with exceptional retention, somewhat flexible, but I would like to see the 2x4s test, the rope test and a few hairs split.
When Bladesmiths make an all-metal knife, I always feel like they are being lazy. When they skip the wood working, I really feel like I have been ripped off. You sir are a Blacksmith, when you make an all-metal knife, you are playing to your strength. The full metal handle is awesome with the twist Damascus steel. Well done, thanks for the videos. 😎
great pattern but with out a guard its not a safe blade having a all metal handle and a strait back like that if it is used hard or wet your hand is finished. i love the fact you use a air hammer and a coal forge and the twist is fantastic
To be honest, I wasn't holding my breath because I didn't think there was enough alternating steel. But you REALLY surprised me with this one! The pattern was amazing! Well done!
6:25 now that is how it's done!!!!!! I saw the other guy, (''Master Knives''), he has copied that knife-maker that makes tea. He is a little short man that does not take his hat off, and he tried to twist the knife like you are doing. I thought that he was going to faint. He got 1/2 a turn, I think! Are you related????
Are there two different people on this channel? Are there two channels with the same name cuz I see a different guy as far as I know it's on knives project
Listen as a bladesmith and iron worker, I have not seen a blad this man has made that has not been just beautiful and a masterpiece. If you can do better, please feel free to link your RUclips channel or website so we can see you work. I only make about 6-10 blades a year and all custom order blades. Mine are all word of mouth, no website, no channel and all done with hand tools. I admire what this smiths work.
@@campdunivan7921 Listen, as a bladesmith and tool maker I can proudly acknowledge a master, and what this guy performed in this video is no mastership by far. I am not saying he is not talented. But is far from masterpiece. Master and every knife produced are by Kyle Royer and others. Not by guy that almost fails forge welds in a video. And by saying where is your youtube channel or videos only tells me you are running out of arguments and you are just a fan boy. Where are your videos btw?
What ever RUclips channel I ever watched and went through the comments! There's always that one person! The has to badmouth whatever's going on!! You probably that one kid that could never play nice on the playground!
That is a fantastic blade front to back

Damn those saw blades were some freaking hard steel. That metal did not want to move xD
🔥🔥
your beard is cool
👍👍👍
Who else cried a bit when the weld looked iffy?😮
No cold shuts! Heat, pressure and maybe a little flux saved this blade. Well done Sir!!!

It's too good looking to use unless there is a crowd to watch and get jealous of the cool knife.
Don't look at nagative comments my man great job
People who complain just try to get equipment used in these videos 😅
What is that stuff he's skaking onto the piece?

Do you sell these knives? If so how much?
always a pleasure to watch
What's the seasoning?
where can we buy your knives ?
What is the white powder?
I was wondering as well, so I looked up online to find that it is called "borax". Its main purpose is to prevent corrosion
Big beard, Big knife

Shorten your videos. You’ll get more views. I watch them on 2x
Without handel, that's weird!
Ever tried coffee etching???

Yo dawg, we heard you like blades so we made your blade out of blades so you can use your blades when you use your blade.
Whenever you are welding, put a filter on!👍🏻
Lin my comment! I need answers!
Aren’t ducks just all terrain chickens
Pattern welded steel is not Damascus .
Damascus in this case simply means steel with layers. This was approximately a 150 layer Damascus steel.
Good job, but this is miles away from a masterpiece
What’s your RUclips channel called so we can all go see your masterpiece?

Ужасный нож!
Not all knives have to have a wood or antler handle this is simply beautiful and you don’t have to worrie about the handle failing you nice knife
By 3.30 your miraculously got much more metel than you apparently started with?
Ну сделал из дисков. Молодец. Углеродистая сталь. Можно сделать из х/з чего. Как СЛУЖИТЬ то, будет? Ножик.
