Some people say it's a mixture of blackened death metal and grindcore, others say it's just another name for blackened death metal, other others say it's blackened death metal with war themed lyrics, and other other others say it's just any metal with war themed lyrics. Sabaton though, aren't they considered power metal? They seem to get labeled as power metal, but most power metal fans seem to hate them so... I AM ON THE VERGE OF AN EXISTENTAL CRISIS!!!! I'm going to commit an act of blasphemy, so here goes... For the longest time, I preferred Michale Graves-era Misfits over Glenn Danzig-era Misfits. I didn't start listening to Rock/Metal/Punk until about 1993 (music choice was limited in East Germany prior to 1990). I hadn't heard of Misfits prior to 1995, so when I had the chance to pick up an album after I moved to the United States, my first was American Psycho. I didn't know Glenn Danzig (who I knew as the "Mother" guy) was in the band previously. Later, I bought one of the Greatest Hits compilations and heard the Danzig-era music, I considered it "less-polished and less musically-inclined" than Graves-Misfits.
Agreed on the Misfits.............incredible. EVERY FALL I re-live all that magic and it never gets old, I just play them loud and get that same feeling as the first few times I heard them. Really good shit.

The first 4 Megadeth albums are actually great and full of genuine anger and rage about what was going on at the time. They also have a number of catchy as hell songs from the last 30 years full of great riffs and solos.
And to go on about buying CDs from back then... if you COULD listen to a CD in advance at the store, they might have... maybe four bolted down Discman players, if you were lucky, but the odds of actually being interested in the discs chosen by staff to show off at the listening stations was rather poor.

Also, MCR's kogo is great. It looks like it belongs in the notebook of a high school goth kid. Which was exactly their demographic.
It's amazing how Danzig found that Crystar comic! As a badly sold book, it was so high up the shelf.
Finn's taste feels so unhinged sometimes haha he shits on other kinds of extreme metal but then loves parody level slam bands haha no beef, my taste is probably just as bizarre, it doesn't take much for me to write of a band that sounds exactly like stuff I already like.
He’s always loved slam, he made his own slam a while back
He also likes some shitty scene-core bands
1:24 They've got Magic Spoon at Grocery Outlet for $1.99 a box right now. I thought they had gone out of business
I’ve seen them little ass boxes selling in the grocery stores for 8.99
HELL TO THE NAWWW..
The slipknot S is cool, it's instantly recognizable, just like the Dead Kennedys, black flag and misfits logos. I think what you said about those logos being ready to draw in a pre internet age definitely helped spread their name around.
Sabaton >>>>>> Sansui-whatever. Also how is their logo racist???
He's a lefty he probably believes all the dumb rumours sabaton were neo yazis. Also the fact they don't like anything patriotic
It's racist af
@@jessiepalermo7234 how is it racist?
@@jessiepalermo7234 why not actually explain instead of being a troll
If Ritchie Valens can be a legend with just "La Bamba" then Megadeth can for "Holy Wars."
@FinnMckentyPRMBA Hey Finn I was hoping you could help explain "Screaming" "growling" and "yelling" style vocals that are hard to understand... what denotes Tallent. You criticized Jello and DK vocals...which I totally get...but can you explain how you can dig death metal vocals etc. Thhhhanks dood.
I had a hernia surgery a few years back and when I came to I was singing dirty black summer to the nurse lol poor woman.
The Misfits really don’t get the respect the deserve. Static Age era and also the walk among us are S tier.
earth ad imo is s tier
@@subparnaturedocumentary it’s good too. I rank it third but the mixing is so bad I can’t lol die my darling I remastered on my computer and had to take a tiny notch out to remove the horrible sound that repeats the entire song. I want to love it. Just can’t beat that warm amazing tone and songwriting of static age.
Don’t get the respect they deserve? Everyone into any type of rock music fawns over how great they say they are. How much more do you want?
@@HappinessDIY alright you’re right 👍🏻
@@ChrisAngel87but I don’t like them lol.
If writing punk is so easy, why aren’t there just endless albums as good as Dookie or Enema of the State out there? Cause it’s not easy. Finger painting is easy but making great art using finger painting isn’t.
As a certified Slipknot hater, the logo is abysmal
Finn saying that Somethingsudafed were a great band hurt worse than if I were to stick a toothpick under my toenail and kick a wall and it sucks even worse because everything else he said in the vid was spot on.
Why hath thou forsaken us, Papa Finn?
When I found out about the band Circle of Dead Children, I literally had never heard of them or seen any of their stuff and decided to buy it solely based on the name. I wasn't disappointed
Human Harvest is a classic
do yougl guys really think slipknot has a bad logo? i think it's so iconic
I remember several years ago some t-shirt designer in Oakland making bootleg Raiders shirts that used the Misfit/Crimson Ghost skull in place of the raider with the eye patch. In a twist of delicious irony they received a cease and desist from the Misfits. Too bad. It was a cool Raiders design.
Here's the Canadian who has to say the alexisonfire heart skull is perfect
Finn: ➡ My Chemical Romance ➡ "You can hardly even read it here... the A, N, C, and E all kind of like glom together, and it's pretty bad" ➡Bad Logo
Finn Again: ➡Sanguisugabogg ➡ Great Logo
Me: 🤔🤦
Sampler CDs! They gave you one song from a band to see if you would like them. Helped me pick albums back in the day.
War metal is one of the most confusing genres ever to exist. WHAT THE HELL IS WAR METAL, WHAT THE HELL IS SABATON, WHAT THE HELL IS METAL, WHAT THE HELL IS LIFE AND WHY AM I STILL LIVING IT!!!!!
Blasphemy, Revenge, Black Witchery, Proclamation. These are some of the biggest war metal bands, check a few songs out and i’ll think you’ll understamd what the genre is. Fallen angel of doom… is the definitive war metal album.
its basically just crap
I first heard about Sabaton from a co-worker who was 18 at the time, they've been his favorite band for years. It really is music for easily impressionable gamer kids. Although I have to admit, when I was a kid in the early 90s I really liked Bolt Thrower because they had some badass cover art with bloody fighting scenes and other war imagery 😄
I fucking love the Slipknot logo, and I have it tattooed on my arm. I totally love them, they just rock so fucking hard.
sucks how Finn leaves out the positives of slipknot on purpose because they’re actually skilled as fuck and their music is great. There’s a lot of unnecessary slander towards like every band no matter how good they are lol
I love how illegible Sanguinesugarboogers logo is. Awesome band too.
Yes I agree great band.
Lol. Wait. What? Sanguine sugar boogers?
It's recognizable, though.
Good luck putting that on your math book.
🦆
I nevet realized how awful the MCR logo is, it really is just a font with all the letters resized and distorted
Design x metal is a super idea ! You said you're trying to find new approaches to subjects, and just "renew" yourself without losing your viewers, or too many : the design approach could be super cool.
Not too deep, but kind of like what @TanktheTech does with his roadie/tour manager entries on music ?
That'd be awesome, AND could interest new bands into getting a larger audiance :D
2:47 NO!, sabaton is GREAT, i love their music!!! and logo with the armor thing is also nice! and slipknot logo is okay imo it looks hinda playfull
Unironically some of the coolest shit I've ever heard, just watching your interview with Sanguisugabogg's vocalists 🤘
I designed a font when I was 15 years old and have seen dozens of bands using that for their logo or titles and now I regret that, because all those logos look horrible
When I’m in an awful take competition and my opponent is Finn Mckenty:
Agreed on the Misfits.............incredible. EVERY FALL I re-live all that magic and it never gets old, I just play them loud and get that same feeling as the first few times I heard them. Really good shit.

I will not stand for the badmouthing of Jello's vocals. They may not be everyones cup of tea, but to me, it is still eons ahead of just grunting in a mic, like most metal fromtmen.
How is Sabaton‘s logo racist?
Steel Commanders is actually a great song to me. Sabaton is a fun live band and you can actually learn something from their songs. Shit tier my ass 😂😂
A man of culture
As a guy with a slipknot tattoo, I just got roasted hard. I was 14 and yes I regret it
Sabaton rules. Finn really doesnt like anything that is not made in the US
It should be a crime placing the MCR and Misfits Logo close to each other. Or on the same image. It should be even a crime that MCR is allowed to exist.
Love Sanguisugabogg. Blood Incantation also has one of my favorite in the modern DM scene though. Seems like a lot of those bands lean into the death metal tropes and are making it self aware and fun
I used to do the same thing, walked around looking at all the awesome album art. I felt the same about DK is the vocals i wanted so hard to love them 😂
_Zoinks Scoob!_ Now I'm, not saying Jello's vox aren't grating & obnoxious at times- but their bangers, & there are a lot of them, are on a special über level. Unique, creative, some great lyrics- especially for the time, & can't be recreated. Their logo is scratched in concrete all over the world. Then we have Sanguisazoomoobafoo, with the spaghetti thrown at the wall logo above them on the chart- wtf? Love me some good Grindcore and PV & the occasional Death Metal, but holy moly, has DM gotten so weak that this is considered anything above mid? I mean A for effort for the name/logo in that hipstery post-modern way... *But c'mon mang really?*
I love the font for MCR isnt that far off from the Suicide Silence one 😂
In your cereal video you mentioned Magic Spoon and you preferred the knock off
Brands lol
Finn looking RIPPED in that magic spoon ad 💪
Danzig’s vibe is definitely not for everybody, but the first three records are really good. Not sure if that’s true or not if you listen to them for the first time now
In middle school I got in trouble for carving the anarchy sign into my dresser.
After talking about Sanguisibogg, you need to do a video about the state of modern death metal. I am loving 200 Stab Wounds.
I’m 60, had never heard of Ronnie Radke before I saw your video about him and just bought tickets to see Falling in Reverse at London’s Wembley Arena on Dec 8th.
Thanks, mate, nice one.
Back in the day I found “Delinquent Habits” in the metal section of the record store, bought it solely off the name and different cover art, Great decision!🏴☠️👊
Sabaton is named after the plate armor for your feet. If it was a shoulder like Finn said, they’d be called Spaulder or Pauldron, a WAY cooler name
