I'm 45. I have a masters and I'm a successful, well adjusted person. My parents have consistently blamed every problem I've ever had on weed and heavy metal.
Very familiar
Same dude. Same.
everybody needs a pressure release
Yep, same. Im 37, but that's the only real difference.
42 here, with the addition of 'bad friends/influences'.
It's so wild that people were so willing to accept that metal and playing songs backwards was the problem rather than actual mental illnesses, family trauma, or social issues that were affecting their kids.
One thing is problems including yourself and the other thing is just blaming external factors. Guess what's easier to deal with?
Sadly, many people would rather use an easy target as a scapegoat than face reality
If there were two things i was sure of as a kid, its that Kane and Undertaker were brothers, and Marilyn Manson removed a rih so he could felate himself.
Still will never forgive Undertaker for what he did to Kane as a child…
Not only could MM felate himself, he was also Paul from the Wonder Years. That was the third thing I was sure of as a child.
@@hankugly6800lol I forgot about the wonder years one!
@@squidsquirthd2684what about what kane did to katie vick?
I vividly remember discussing this with friends in elementary school ahahahha
The Columbine shooters were actually NOT into Manson. From what I've heard they were into Bauhaus, Ministry, KMFDM, stuff like that.
The media just ran with it to throw him under the bus, and likely due to them not knowing those bands lol
The mother who is an enabler and likely helped them do it, blamed Manson to create a bigger litigation target.
If that's true, I like those dudes even more!
@@dcfromthev hahaha 😑
Fun fact: KMFDM dropped their final album (at the time), ADIOS, the same day Columbine happened.
They probably like professional murder music as well.
The Satanic Panic started from a therapist in Victoria, BC, who wrote a book called 'Michelle Remembers' about his patient who he 'helped recover suppressed memories of ritual Satanic abuse'. The book was incredibly lurid beyond belief and was sponsored by the Catholic Church which gave it legitimacy. Then, the two went on talk shows and became famous and influential and started a massive trend of people suddenly 'remembering suppressed Satanic ritual abuse'. It's a fascinating story
Look up Ted Gunderson, he was former head of the FBI Los Angeles department and he claims that the book was a set up to distract from legitimate cases, and he actually pulled ties together from legitimate trafficking busts, including the one they did the Netflix doc on, Who Took Johnny. Even more crazy is years later, it’s connected to Epstein. His stuff is hard to come by on RUclips these days, wasn’t always like that. But he has a few lectures from when he was still alive that are very much with looking into that I’m sure will spin you down even further into this rabbit hole as it’s pretty wild! Fun, too. But always interesting to read!
I went to see Manson in Milwaukee in 2015, and there were people outside telling me I was going to hell, and I responded 'bro its not 1999 wtf are you doing out here?'
I was at that show too. I remember people outside like that too lol Manson even brought his dad on stage which was cool.
ah yes, the beautiful people
I'm going to see Manson next month and I am beyond excited. Been a fan since ~1996 but never got around to seeing him live and was afraid I never would after the allegations almost wrecked his career. But now, it looks like he's back and ready to fight for it. He looks amazing again.
I remember that lmao
The Marilyn Manson symbol onstage is actually from the British Union of Fascists, led by Oswald Mosley, a British lord who was a Hitler wannabe in the 30s. David Bowie used the same symbol onstage in the 70s and there was a big uproar because he also sieg heiled in concert (later apologized, blamed it on drugs.)
The preacher protesting Manson is John Hagee, a loon who seriously argued Obama is an alien lizard antichrist. And of course none of those earlier protests now give a damn that Manson is accused of abusing women.
To your last point, the only thing that gives benefit of the doubt to that is Manson is basically irrelevant now. It's hard to take someone who looks like a wine aunt seriously as some demon. In the 90s and into the early 00s he was everywhere and the poster boy for the evils of heavy music
Mosley was a fascist, not a national socialist. His book "Greater Britain" is quite interesting by the way. He predicted many of UK's rampant crime issues we see today.
David Bowie, in his own words, had a fascist period, thinking maybe it wasn't so bad and should be reconsidered. At the same time, it seemed he was also admitting he was just doing it for the outrage and media attention, which is the job of a 'pop star'
Pretty much every old rockstar used fascist imagery to shock people and shock the media. Everyone from the 70s and 80s punks and rockers to 90s metal icons like peter steele
@joshabreu1156 bad argument. He looked like a wine aunt back then too. Also a tree and a alien.
I don't use toilet paper. I keep a seashell by my toilet.

haha good one
Frank Zappa and Dee Snider were so epic during some of those hearings.
The Judges face during the trial says "WTF is happening right now..."
The Columbine shooters were not in the Trench Coat Mafia, but friends with some of the members. I also think they weren't particularly Manson fans.
The most offensive thing about “We Can’t Stop” is the “La da dee da dee, we like to party” line. Lyrical equivalent of nails on a chalkboard.
That Lil Nas X track has a NIN sample. Apparently the band let it go for free to stick it to the naysayers.
Cringe
Remember when Lil Nas X came out with Satan Shoes that had a drop of blood in the bubble of the shoe. That was crazy
How about Beavis not being allowed to say fire fire fire on tv
I have never been in a public restroom where the toilet paper roll has gone under rather than over. Under is objectively wrong
>I have never been in a

>public restroom where the toilet paper roll has gone under rather than over.
ad populum fallacy
>Under is objectively wrong
appeal to authority fallacy
Having cats (or kids to an extend) can make you set the roll going under, so it doesn't unroll all over the floor when they play with it.
@@noterrormanagement I think you may be taking a comment about literal shit paper a little too seriously, bud. Lighten up.
And for the record, declaring an argument to be false based on the fact that it was argued poorly is called the fallacy fallacy.
@@astoranoble8915 Lmao
@@usualsurrender5298 EXACTLY! There's no benefit to putting it over, but there is to putting it on going under, thus making UNDER the objectively correct way. Been doing that ever since my cat unrolled the whole roll onto the floor, then my toddler cousin wanted to 'help' clean up by throwing the entire wad into the toilet and overflowing it everywhere. Much sadness for me to clean up.

offending old conservatives is exactly what rock, metal, punk should be doing. Marilyn Manson was great LOL Judas Priest was great too. About Lil Nas I don't like country at all but it was great to see him stick it to the racists country music does not belong to them
5:15 the Columbine shooters did NOT reference Manson as an inspiration.
I remember the protestors at Manson concerts... pretty sure some of them offered me pizza to dissuade me from going into a concert as I stood in line outside the Five Seasons Center many years ago. The show was great, by the way!
The footage you showed reminded me of the showmanship and stage presence he used to have back in the day.
Thanks Finn for giving me stuff to watch while I get ready for work 🙏 you da man
Right-wing cancel culture was WILD lmao
And now it's the left doing it to a more extreme measure.
@@666chapelofblood Crack is whack.
As a child of the 80's, the right-wing cancel culture is what shaped me into a Left-Winger. ...and then a few decades later, when the Left-Wing cancel culture took off and went to the f'n moon, it pushed me to the Center. So apparently I'm steered by the resistance of Cults. Wings are for the birds.
Left wing cancel culture good. 😂
it was so wild that no one got canceled lol
i love how christians were so easily baited by manson and now here we are 30 years later and they're STILL falling for it with people like lil nas X. some things never change
16:55 tell me you’ve never heard of Darius Rucker without telling me you’ve never heard of Darius Rucker.
Or Charley Pride.
It’s almost as if the reason people believe no one like Lil Nas X’s country song actually isn’t the reason and the actual reason is just because it isn’t country.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard any complaints about Hootie
I'm pretty sure he's implying it was because Lil Nas X is gay, not because he's black.
@@Dicky_McB, he came out as gay after that song...
Even the patent for toilet paper has it shown as over i believe lol.
So the patent for toilet paper actually shows an illustration of it being over, not under
already a great start, this was the video i was waiting for from you
Richard Ramirez was also where Twiggy Ramirez the bassist of Marilyn Manson got his stage name from.
lol the first comment of "I'm the worst I just put it on random" was exactly what I was thinking at that exact time! Almost crashed my semi truck from laughing so hard...
Yeah nothing gives me serial killer music vibes more than AC/DC 🤣
6:55 Finn this made me LOL and I rarely laugh at youtube videos, or in any situation except for real life for that matter. Fantastic!!
My buddy and I were listening to Jesus Built My Hotrod by Ministry and playing Magic The Gathering in my room when my hyper Christian step mom came in and grounded me. I couldn't play videogames for 3 weeks...
Wow you’re actually a funny dude. Haven’t seen one of ur vids in a while and this one was hilarious!
The Montero music video is "God" tier branding.🤣
The insane one that constantly gets protests from televangelist types now is Pentatonix, the Acapella group.
As a well intentioned Christian, people like that truly need to buy a clue or maybe never leave their houses. They give the rest of the Christians who have brains and use them a bad name.
never seen that courtroom clip. that was like a Southpark clip. i was like, "Wait, this is real??"
Whoever made the thumbnail to this is genius lmao
It's fun watching this days after the Olympics opening ceremony
This is the funniest Finn video in a long time🤣
“Country music is racist” … meanwhile, Darius Rucker’s “Wagonwheel” remains one of the most beloved country songs ever and Shaboozey is currently #1 on the country charts. Demand for racism, as always, far exceeds the supply.
Bruh you just named 2 out of the 3 black guys that had country hits 💀
@@toga4900 ok… tack on Kane Brown and Jimmy Allen. Sure, country isn’t flush with black artists. But I also don’t think that there’s any force keeping them out. I’m supposed to believe that the same fan base that puts shaboozey at #1 is the same base that blocks Nas X for his race? It makes no sense.
@purely_catholic it wasn't the fans that did that, but billboard. That's what finn was talking about. Old town road made it to number 1 because of the fans, then billboard took it off the charts, so Billy Rae did the remix so it would be back on the charts. I think billboard learned their lesson with the backlash tho and that's why you're not seeing it now with shaboozey
@@systemofanup Usually, if you look for racism without actually digging into a situation, you will find it. Same as people claiming there are no black cowboys or rodeo riders because country folks are racist. There are actually quite a lot of them. I won't pretend there are no racists in the country. Just like I won't pretend there are no racists in the cities. There are. But, the vast majority of people in fly over states are just people who don't have a gripe with any race. They may be religious or not. But from my experience (living in Mississippi for college, growing up in New Orleans, living in Houston, spending summers in Tennessee and Alabama, etc), people could not give two craps what you look like. If you need a shirt, and they only have the one on their back, you will get it from them.
@@systemofanup Totally agree with you. It's funny we live in a country where woke liberals falsely claim there's endless "white supremacy" and racism again blk people yet the only racism you see today is directed against wht people
I remember the Marilyn Manson columbine thing (I was 12 at the time) later found out that they were mostly into nine inch nails and playing doom
mostly KMFDM.
Put allegations a side, Mechanical Animals by Manson is still amazing album. Last Day On Earth and Posthuman , never understand why it werent released as singles
i think 'portrait...' is my favorite, no skips
Honestly the main Manson albums that I didn't like every song from start to finish is High End of Low, and Born Villain. Both those albums had a couple songs I enjoyed but most were just kinda meh to me.
I subscribed to Factor because of your videos. Should I switch to Cook Unity? I need an honest opinion on those who have tried both.
If you look into actually why Miley Cyrus did all that it's pretty fascinating. Disney is the worst.
I never in my life would think the day would come that the word Salvia would come out of Finn's mouth!! lol
I had never heard Montero or seen the video but hearing and seeing the concept of the video was fucking hilarious 😂 I gotta give him props for coming up with such a shitpost, hilarious concept.
I was a teenager when the whole Judas Priest trial had happened, and a big metalhead. I had no idea until today that "Better By You ..." was a cover song! 1968 song originally recorded by Spooky Tooth. Thanks, Finn!

What happened to Finns' Twitch streams on youtube? Nothing new since this one 3 weeks ago.
I remember when so many people legitimately thought that Captain Kangaroo was Ozzy Osborn’s dad, and Mr. Rogers had been a sniper in Vietnam.
I kind of always wanted the Mr. Rogers one to true (especially if you coupled it with he always wore sweaters to cover up his tattoos.
Oooh, three random true things.
1. Mr. Rogers liked to swim regularly, to maintain good health. Often in the nude.
2. Dr. Ruth (the sex therapist) was a decorated sniper with the Israeli military before moving to the US.
3. (I'm mostly certain this one's true.) Captain Kangaroo saved Lee Marvin's ass in the battle of Iwo Jima.
Not gonna lie angus at 15:07 looks like Napoleon Dynamite if he was into rock n roll lol
finn come back
This whole video could just be about Infant Annihilator 😂
Manson was essentially a modern day Ozzy/Alice Cooper.
Rib thing... wasn't that carried over from Prince?
"mental health" didn't exist back in the 80's
My housemates always put it under!
"1996" was such a more edgy song on that album from Marilyn Manson but it slid under the radar because of the title.
Looking back, the 80's was wild time to be a teenager. Hell Yeah.
you crack me up bro
Toilet paper under is superior. It’s much easier to snap a piece off one-handed when it’s under.
15:17 "Taken on the contacts for sure" WHAT
I like my toilet paper the way i like my battles in final fantasy, random
As a minister and a Chaplain, I can tell you right now that the reason most of these people scream about stuff is because Metal and Hardcore forces people to confront very real, nasty, and dark realities, and that makes them uncomfortable, because often those who scream loudest about the Devil are actually the most Satanic force in the room.
A Slayer song like South of Heaven is brutally honest about a world in which Right Wing so called "Christians" scream about the dangers of Satan, when their lives and the policies they support for do nothing but make Hell on earth a reality for so many people, be it the poor, people of color, LGBTQIA, and women.
Theres a reason Jesus warned people to take the plank out of their own eye before they judge someone else.
They say the rib thing about Al Jougensen, too; these are fables.
Kinda sounds like today with everyone thinking out country is doing good now when it isn’t
Immediately made me think of Spiritual Healing by Death when you said caricature of an evangelist

@12:30 although not exactly similar this reminds me of the excellent mr.show bit where they have a band titannica and a song try suicide where the kid tried but lived and they visit him in the hospital

What term can adequately combine Divorced Dad Rock / Butt Rock, Post Grunge, and I would argue Nu-Metal? I feel like all of these are similar enough to where they can all go into the same category.
Nu Post-Rock Buttgrunge? Thoughts?
Currently making a playlist on the subject.
I have to say the Manson rumor about the rib was the best, in an time when the internet wasn't used like it was today, everyone had heard it.
On a side note, as a fellow "married to an asian" man, I noticed your sponsor sent you pork everything. My wife is Filipino so every protein in our food (rice...always rice) is pork. I feel you Finn. Not a bad thing... I just know how it is to have pork as the top meat in the house.
They love their pork lol

What I find really interesting about Marilyn Manson is how the rib removal urban legend spread out. I remember hearing it back in 99/2000 and I was 12 in Brazil.
Surprised to hear Finn say WAP as wop. Sounds like the Italian slur.
My best reasoning for never having the toilet paper under is what if there was a spider on the other side of the toilet paper? You wouldn't even see it coming.
Also damn Finn is buff, I'm only used to seeing him from shoulder-up.
Satanic panic is alive and well.

To be fair, back in the 80s and 90s it was limited to the fringes of culture. Now it’s straight up marketed to little kids through pop culture. Whatever your beliefs when you’re older it’s whatever, but promoting hedonism to kids is not going to result in responsible, functional adults later in life.
Yea it just shifted genres to pop music now

Antichrist Superstar is a fuckin great song what
How dare you say Antichrist Superstar is not a good song. There's not a bad song on that entire album. To be fair if I had to rank every song on the album then the song AS would be in the lower third, but that only shows how great the whole album was.
Also the backing banjo track is a Nine Inch Nails sample..

3:51 dude looks like brother love
People who pull TP under have lived in the in the woods and grabbed at the TP only to find a spider hiding behind the sheets. You pull from “under” so there’s no surprises
My wife consistently and only puts the toilet paper under, and doesn't know why I care. A true psychopath.
My mother, an RN, Sunday school teacher, church organist...put the tp roll on underhanded...she's a monster...
The answer to "What kind of a sicko puts the toiler paper under?" is 'Someone who has a cat who likes to unroll the tp'. Under means it spins, but doesn't do anything. Over means you have a roll's worth of TP unraveled on the floor.
