I was on stage with Karen Carpenter once. I was a kid, but they did a song called Sing a Song where they use a children's choir in the chorus. My school provided the children's choir for their concert in my town and I was in the choir, so I was on stage with them during that one song! 1973 I think.

A reviewer with Rolling Stone Magazine once said, "Karen Carpenter's voice is like the sound of a lover whispering in your ear." I can't find any flaw in that statement. Voice of an angel.... gone too soon! RIP Karen.

Loved you and miss you still to this day, but your music lives in to mesmerize new generations. Thank you, God, for sharing Karen with us, if only for a short time.❤❤❤❤

I hope you get the chance to watch the video. The outdoor footage was filmed at Huntington Library Gardens in San Marino, California, and featured some footage of a red moon bridge, which was roped off to the general public in the Japanese Garden there. Should do their remake of "Please Mr. Postman" from this album, their third and final #1 on the Hot 100. The video for that was filmed at Disneyland, the first time they'd allowed an artist to do that there. Karen adored Mickey Mouse.

While it is understandable that we focus on Karen's voice. After all it ranks at the top of all female pop artists. But her brother's ability to arrange and score these songs is incredible. I particularly enjoy his use of the oboe and harmonica in many songs His ability to find the right instrument to convey a mood is outstanding.

They give it the full treatment with chorus, orchestra, and Karen’s superlative performance. 🎭 ❤

beyond the beautiful and rich arrangement and, of course, the perfect divine gorgeous Karen's voice, this song has the most beautiful lyrics I've ever heard in any other song throughout the last 100years: "... I've found my home here in your arms, No where else on earth I'd really rather be, Life wait for us share it with me, The best is about to be, and so much is left for us to see..." Those lyrics in the Karen's voice is... there's no word with power enough to describe how gorgeous the feeling transmited is.... LOVE U KAREN!

As a Hard Core Carpenters' fan this is my favorite song for their catalog and that was a hard decision to make......
Also in other Carpeters' reaction videos, you mention her watching a deep breath, you can hear it in many parts.......
This Album Horizon is, I feel the PEEK of their career, right in the heart of the 70s. 1975.....unfortunately they started to decline in sales and popularity toward the late 70s.
I feel this too was in part of the "Disco craze" hitting hard and they were just not disco. HOWEVER there is a disco song from the Carpenters (well Karen's Solo session) it is called "My Body Keeps Changing my mind". It is a long story, but Richard was getting treatment and Karen did not want to remain idle she went to New York (1979) to record solo material. Richard basically could not stop her but request her not to do any Disco. I am so glad she did not listen lol........her decision to break away and record her own material shows just how special her voice really was. She made a duet with Peter Cetera (Chicago) called "Making Love in the Afternoon".....another gem that is much overlooked.

It was so refreshing to listen to the audio from the album (which I bought years ago), as opposed to watching the video, which every other reactor has done. The video cuts off the last 30 seconds of the song. By the way, about Tony Peluso, he was added in a remix of "I Won't Last a Day Without You." Wasn't on the album. I bought the album, then heard the remix on the radio, and went back to the album, wondering where the wonderful Peluso guitar fills at the ends of phrases went. If you ever do that song, please consider the version that's from the "Singles 1969-1981," which is the remix. Really enjoy how you REALLY listen.

Simply arrangements CAN'T get better than that. It's a lesson: that, kids, is how you arrange and record a song.

Karen's voice is like melted vanilla ice cream - so rich, so sweet. It's like getting hit on the head with a valentine.

If you can find the 1989 TV movie, "The Karen Carpenter Story," maybe you'd enjoy it, Sal. It makes me happy to see that the great music I was raised on in the 70s lives on.

If its really true about her parents it's a shame they didn't love her as much as we do.41 years she's been gone but it says it all when we are sitting here listening to the songs and reactions from everyone 😅😢

Ohhh if he likes the multitrack harmonies, the neo-Bach stuff on that track will blow his mind...the Close To You album (1970), which has Mr Guder on it, was the purest expression of the Carpenters sound, with the multitracking and the jazz and classical influences.

I’ll add that there is a very recent restoration of a classic performance. 1973 on The Tonight Show. Looks like it aired yesterday(once more?).

I recently rediscoved The Carpenters. I used to listen to her constantly in the 70's. I realize how bad modern music is when listening to her again. I was crushed when she passed so tragically.

Such a brilliant arrangement. For example, Richard added extra overdubbed vocals to "brighter than today" to make it literally sound brighter. What this also is, is a companion piece to The Beatles who sang "Yesterday" about how yesterday was better than today, and here are the Carpenters saying that today is better than yesterday. And yes, it's always sad to hear Karen sing about how no one knew how much pain she was in.

The carpenters, to me, were the best sibling dou to ever grace the music industry! Richard,s musical genius and karen,s golden voice! What a wonderful combination! Their songs are classics and will live until the end of time! Long after their peirs made fun of them for being square in their time! I love it it when nice people get the last laugh!

She made de duet with Willie Nelson in we are the world. "That's what friends are for", with Elton John, Stevie Wonder and Gladys Knight. Also, "Heartbreaker", written for her by Bee Gees. I love her voice. And she's older cousin of Whitney Houston.

Salvo, KC's voice IS also the female harmony, as is in all her songs. Born (not trained) with vocal talent not heard since. She died from anorexia after a continuous onset beginning in 1975. Sang while playing drums in many songs. Listen to 'I Can Dream Cant I', a big band type ballad. Unbelievable.
